Heat 09/24 and Velocity 09/25

Velocity and Heat are up. They went out halfway decent, which is about halfway more than you could count on. While we’ve gone from no B-Shows to B-Shows, we’ve also gone from ‘we know when it’s over’ to ‘it’s over which ever week they get annoyed with it.” TNM is right – if they’re going … Continue reading “Heat 09/24 and Velocity 09/25”

I don’t think Josh knew it wasn’t his last episode of Velocity when he was doing it. At one point, the opening segment (or whichever segment had the booth shot) was the only one personalized for each network/country, so that may have been why the opening match was inside joke filled.

I got nothing and it’s 2 AM and this isn’t the last post, so let me stop staring at Editpad and move on.

Velocity 09/17

well, this was exactly about what you expect. So not going to miss it. Heat was Heat. What’s kinda scary is you figure anyone who without a purpose or push at the moment, and appears only to job, is someone who’s employment status is really iffy at the moment – and Tajiri’s name is on … Continue reading “Velocity 09/17”

Then again, if this ended up with Tajiri back in CMLL, I could work with that.

unbreakable

Tanvir saw the TNA Unbreakable show. This was not a great show, as the only reason I bought this show was because of the main event and the awesome Sacrifice PPV [which was technically better than ONS] from last month.

Velocity 09/10 and Heat 09/11

Velocity and Heat. Next week is not only a PPV week (which means 50 means of hype and a wonderful Matt Striker/Rene Dupree match to top it off), but also a (unbilled) Super Show taping, so the second to last Velocity is a clip show. It sure would be a great time to show the … Continue reading “Velocity 09/10 and Heat 09/11”

It sure would be a great time to show the Best Of Velocity, but somehow I don’t think so.

I feel smart for figuring out they’re taping something early Monday, and dumb for not realizing it before.

Do you think they’ll mark the end of Velocity or Heat with anything more than a last segment mention? Me neither. I don’t really plan to either.

bonus recap?

If they plan on leaving the .com SmackDown up for a while, I’ll be doing a recap. Probably won’t be able to do it exactly live and wouldn’t want to. For the purposes of historical relevance (and since OO’s not bothering with it, which would cause me to actually have to work to find a recap), I’ve got no problem spending an hour on it, provided I can pause to walk away from the annoying show every time I want.

No one besides me cares about the indexes, but if you pretend you do for a second and wonder why I didn’t just take out Velocity and Heat boxes after they’re off the air. Even though they’re goners, I’m still holding out this completely baseless hope that they’ll end up doing something to pacify lower tier guys – they’ve done (much smaller) things to make sure people are happy before and it doesn’t make sense not to do a B-Show with the roster unless you’re going to gut it. They’ve done enough internet related matches of late that they’d know if it was a worthwhile outlet. On the other hand, if they were up to something like this, they probably would’ve announced it already.

Deleting after I’m sure is a lot easier than reinserting, so I wait. I’m pretty sure I’m just coming up with delusional ideas to Make This Work when I know it’s going to be the exact opposite of that. I don’t see myself recapping RAW or SmackDown or a clip show or an internet talk show, so the future of our relationship doesn’t look especially bright, obviously.

I keep thinking I should make a list of wrestlers, with counts of their A show and B show appearances over the last couple months, but then I don’t think such a chart would tell us much we didn’t know.

indicies, histories updated

As you can see over there on the left bar, I had a weird urge to update the history stuff. No closer to doing it the way I wanted to do it, no real idea why I bothered to do it. But for the people who asked me, there’s your updated title histories. After trying … Continue reading “indicies, histories updated”

After trying to find the data elsewhere and being unsuccesful, there’s a Super Astros Episode Guide on the luchawiki. It’s not on the main page because I need to fix the main page before I add more to it, but if you search carefully, you’ll find it (as long as Jose agrees it’s close enough to lucha to count.) I’m thrilled to point out that we’ve doubled our Albert Ching content.

If you like designing things to look nice, feel free to help out the luchawiki, becuase I think that’s least favorite part for everyone involved.

ALSO, If you know wiki in general and want to help out, please do. all I want is to know how to do an if. Though a program or macro to automatically converted HTML table to wiki table would be neat, because I’m either left with ugly looking tables (taking all the spaces out to prevent it from random [pre][/pre] switches, which also makes them hard to hand edit) or recoding everythig into wikiscript by hand.

Velocity 08/27 and Heat 08/28

This show sucked and this show sucked and it didn’t help that my TiVo screwed up but I’m pretty sure I’d hate them anyway. It’s too much of a coincidence for everything to suddenly be under three minutes except the main event. Wonder why they made the decision. When it’s up to the Heartbreakers (who I hated at first) and Tomko (who I hated at first and in a sane world I’d still hate) to cheer me up, something’s gone horribly wrong. We’re at the point where I’m wishing for people I like to get demoted (or actually just show up), so I can have some decent matches to watch the next few weeks.

I’ll miss Josh most of all.
I’ll miss Romero least of all.

I’m not sure if I’m playing this too subtle, but I have a large amount of distaste towards Matt Striker and how he’s been presented.

Comparing, I’m not a big fan of the process that gets Vito hired and on SmackDown, but I’m trying to only hold his own mistakes against him. What is the deal with that kick?

I rebooted the TiVo and it’s worked fine since. From checking the logs, it’d been screwing up all evening – wish I caught it sooner, so I could’ve seen Simon on a segway.

you heard it here first, and then you wondered why: They’re turning Tomko face. With the Heartthrobs stills existing, the Cowboys coming in, and near dead belts and champions, the idea of a third midcard heel tag team is a definite red herring. They don’t have a role as single wrestlers, but they have even less of one as a tag team – so they’ll be a tag team as long as it takes to get them something to do as singles. I figure it breaks down with Tomko getting a near title win with the boot, only for it Hurricane to get a foot on the rope or something, heel teamwork breaks down in a bad way late, and Dupree’s turned on him about five minutes after they got started.

Of course, since he’s Dupree and he’s Tomko, this is less about turning Tomko face and more about finding someone to feed to Dupree. But Tomko as face is still crazy.

If heel announcer Coach has problems with Kerwin, that makes Kerwin a – “character in our world, and we allow the fans to react to the characters however they choose; there’s no ‘good guy’ or ‘bad guy’ anymore, it’s all how you feel” oh SHUT UP. The WWE loves the idea of a person fighting stereotypes by embracing that stereotype to the fullest and occasionally having them yell at the fans for believig the stereotype. They love it a lot for a public company.

Latest scuttlebutt says the USA WWE Sunday show is now a Sunday morning show – which I guess means we’re going back to Free For Alls? The first PPV after the move is the 10/09 SD! No Mercy, so that’s when we find out. Anyway, if they don’t call the USA Sunday Morning show “Superstars”, they all need to be shot multiple times.

Four more weeks left. If there’s anything you want me to do with these in the time we have left together, you should le me know.
