taped in Auditorio Benito Juarez, Zapopan, Jalisco, 12/05/2010

You want Mesias? You've got Mesias.

Espíritu, Extreme Tiger, Jack Evans, La Parka Jr. vs Cibernético, Escoria, Nygma, Taboo (and part 2): the layout of this match only makes sense in Cibernetico’s mind (Cibernetico gets hurt, leaves during the beatdown, Amadeus takes his spot with no one complaining, Cibernetico comes back after the comeback?) but it was fine at the end. Not fine at other places.

Monster Clown, Murder Clown, Psycho Clown vs Damián 666, Halloween, X-Fly in a cage match: They did the match they needed to do with these six. Psycho’s dive was next. The end of the streak was a bit anti-climatic. Clowns have been complaining about being screwed here, but it feels like the match was designed to end the streak without the Clowns still being pinned or submitted. I’m not exactly sure how you do that without indirectly pointing out how dumb cage match escape rules are, but it would seem to be an important part.

(We’re ignoring Perros del Mal shows, because everyone one else. Pack mentality!)

El Mesías vs LA Park (and part 2): LA Park was a man possessed here, and there’s still few better in the world than a motivated LA Park. Brawling, not the lame Silver King time killing brawling no one believes in, but the kind of punches that sends the crowd running. They had the right finish and just kept going for a less interesting one, but there’s tons of stuff here before it to make this must worth watching.

01/29 – 01/31 Lucha Times

box

AAA-US: part 4 (and final) of the best of. Staggered feed on the west coast, and Galavision doesn’t actually have listings from Sunday’s show.

52MX: Minis + Renegades/Vangelis vs Astro/Stuka/Valiente

LATV: two new episodes in a row? Maybe Minis + Dark Angel/Sujei lightning match if that doesn’t air on the main show.

Teleformula: this show has been weird lately; last week’s show had a match from 12/14 and a match from 11/23, and three weeks ago they picked random matches from October. If they kept pace, this would be the show with Pesta Negra in the main event, but maybe they’ll skip it so they don’t lose both of their announcers.

——

CMLL: If they’re still one week behind, this is the Invasors vs rudos and Polvoa vs Sangre.

AAA-MEX: the rest of the year opening taping: Milicia vs tecnicos, Milicia vs tecnico, Circus vs Perros.

C3: Ampola vs Marcela, which should be great.

CMLL-GDL: bonus match is women’s trios. Do what you will with that knowledge.

Puebla: Invasors vs Rudos

ACM: Mascara Purpura, Furor, and maybe a fan or two.

PdM: who knows (not me)

IWRG: Gringos/Diablo vs Terrible Cerebros

———

CMLL-TFN: Parajes Increible tournament, part 1.

three man cavernaria?

taped in Arena Mexico, 12/26/2010

I’ve taken a hard stand and refused to post the battle royal. Truly the controversial decision that will define my reign of terror.

Cancerbero, Raziel, Virus vs Ángel Azteca, Ángel de Plata, Guerrero Maya Jr. [MEX TRIOS, QF]: This was the usual okay match between these teams. It must’ve been very sad for Angel de Plata and Angel Azteca Jr. when they saw Angel de Oro split up from them and winning like crazy without them. He’s going somewhere, they’re having many more matches with the Cancerbros.

Ángel de Oro, Diamante, Rush vs Durango Kid, Puma King, Tiger Kid [MEX TRIOS, QF]: Quite often around here, the tournament you want to get is not the one you get. Maybe the Cats just aren’t built for tournaments, it just doesn’t seem to go well for them ever. This match here got better once they took control. Do we have a consensus on CMLL Durango Kid? Sometimes he’s good, sometimes he’s just sort of there.

Ángel de Oro, Diamante, Rush vs Cancerbero, Raziel, Virus [MEX TRIOS, SF]: Oddly low amount of time for the final (or oddly clipped to a low amount of time), but they made the most of it. The tecnicos all can do cool things on occasion, but it’s totally up to the rudos to keep it together.

Amapola retains her title again, Misterioso, Fabriuchis

CMLL (TUE) 01/25/2011 Arena Mexico [SuperLuchas, CMLL]
1) Durango Kid, Escorpion, Tiger Kid b Leono, Molotov, Starman
2) Hooligan, Loco Max, Nitro b Ángel Azteca Jr., Ángel de Plata, Sensei
3) Delta, Metro, Valiente DQ Euforia, Vangelis, Virus
Delta replaced Diamante. Straight fall win for the tecnicos, after Virus fouled Valiente in the second.
4) Amapola b Marcela [CMLL WOMEN]
Amapola wins again. Why did they do a tournament to set this up?
5) Blue Panther, Máscara Dorada, Super Porky b Héctor Garza, Mr. Águila, Olímpico
Mascara Dorada was the only one from the Japan tour to work, but he did wrestle. Garza took the second fall with using the ropes, and Panther got revenge with the same trick in the third.

Misterioso wants another shot at Ultimo Guerrero and his title in one of CMLL’s main arenas, but his focus has moved on to the three way Poder Mexica match. Misterioso’s conspiracy theory is Sangre Azteca was trying to get sympathy from the fans by complaining about Dragon Rojo leaving the group, use that sympathy to get on the ballot to replace Mascara Dorada in the Mex trios champions, and then win that to get a title. Misterioso should get to explain more things, he’s fantastic.

The Fabriuchis character who’s been turning around Arena Coliseo Guadalajara is not the gossip celebrity, but a new gimmick for a local luchador: Guero Loco. He’s been out with a knee injury since October 2009. He’s supposed to return to the ring in a few weeks and wants to bring back Asesino Negro team with him.

Lineups

CMLL (TUE) 02/01/2011 Arena Mexico
***Fan Apperciation Day, Feb (TUE)***
1) Rayo Tapatío I & Rayo Tapatío II vs Camorra & Mortiz
2) Fabián el Gitano, Metatrón, Trueno vs Escorpion, Hooligan, Nitro
3) Diamante, Fuego, Guerrero Maya Jr. vs Nosferatu, Vangelis, Yoshihashi
4) Metro, Rush, Sagrado vs Ephesto, Misterioso II, Terrible
5) Blue Panther, Hijo del Fantasma, La Sombra vs Atlantis, Felino, Héctor Garza

Garza/Panther continues. Maybe they can tease that for Dos Leyendas too.

Yoshihashi is not only unbanned, but that would be his first match without Okumura in months. Hopefully Maya’s actually back this time.

02/04 AAA TV Lineup (Naucalpan)

AAA TV (FRI) 02/04/2011 Arena Naucalpan
1) Argenis, Atomic Boy, Gato Eveready vs Cerebro Negro, Dr. Cerebro, Eterno
2) ? & Fabi Apache vs ?? & Sexy Star
3) Joe Lider vs CuervoChessmanExtreme Tiger [Rey de Reyes, semifinal]
4) Heavy Metal vs Electroshock
5) El Mesías, Espíritu, Ozz vs Decnnis, LA Park, Zorro
6) Jack Evans, La Parka, Nicho el Millionario vs Charly Manson, Cibernético, Escoria

Projected Air Date (#976, #977)
Mexico: 02/13, 02/20
US: 02/26, 03/05

Back to back Atomic Boy matches! Argenis makes TV. Gato Eveready is listed as “El Gato”, hmmm. Big match for Eterno.

Mystery people in the tag match are Japanese men. Maybe the return of Sugi (and debut of Ronin?) Maybe Masada just hangs around longer? Maybe something completely different.

That’s a four way. Odd that Chessman is back in the tournament but maybe he just likes the crown and sword a lot. This is just listed as Group Uno, and there’s no sign of how many groups there are. Last year was 3, and it’s usually been 4 before. 3 groups would mean they could do one per taping before Rey de Reyes without having to save on one the lame duck show. It is a semifinal match to a multiman match, they really could have anyone win it. I need to get out of the tournament prediction business!

Heavy Metal did not get an easy return match. Maybe he and Electroshock will end it right there. (NAH.)

I hope Mesias has a stern word with Ozz & Espiritu for turning on him way back when. He did destroy all of them later, maybe he’s over it. Seems like it’d keep Mesias vs LA Park going, but Zorro needs a challenger (and it probably will not be Espiritu.)

Main event is similar to others, with Nicho getting to play Extreme Tiger since he’s got better things to do. Cuervo vs Jack seems as likely as Cibernetico vs Parka – probably more, because I can’t imagine they’ll be doing a straight singles match with the heavyweights quite yet.

Invasors beat CMLL rudos, Rey de Reyes, Black Terry/Angel Mortal

CMLL (MON) 01/24/2011 Arena Puebla [Cinco Radio, SporTimes]
1) Centella de Oro & Tigre Rojo Jr. b Fuerza Chicana & Sauron
Tigre Rojo Jr. replaced Black Tiger
2) Aereo, Mini Maximo, Pequeño Halcón b Pequeño Nitro, Pequeño Violencia, Pequeño Warrior
3) Dark Angel & Luna Mágica b Amapola & Princesa Blanca
No Marcela or Mima Shimoda, so they did a tag match instead.
4) Rush, Toscano, Valiente b Felino, Misterioso II, Vangelis
Toscano replaced Fantasma
5) El Alebrije, Histeria, Psicosis b Rey Bucanero, Último Guerrero, Volador Jr.
Tirantes was back to helping the Invasors. He pulled UG’s mask to set up the pin.

The two recaps have different finishes for the first two matches. I’m going with Cinco Radio. Misterioso tries to get his three way match in there.

Porra Fresa has a review of all the Puebla luchadors this year, and demands the local guys actually get to go somewhere with their feuds. Interesting theory about the original plans for the Arena Puebla anniversary main event too.

Thinking Marcela wins the title tonight. CMLL’s built to the match like there will finally be a title change. Guadalajara has the Mr. Trueno/Puma King title match.

AAA announced Rey de Reyes will take place March 19th, in Plaza Monuemental de Aguascalientes. First time back since May 21, 2009, a taping that was moved around because of the swine flu.

This week’s TV also announced taping in Teziutlan (02/19) and Irapuato (02/28). The 02/19 date means Naucalpan is definitely a six match, two show taping. I suspect one of those matches will be AAA TV version of a Negro Navarro/Black Terry vs Solar/Skayde tag match the WON has mentioned. If both of these new tapings are also double tapings, that would be enough to make it to Rey de Reyes. There’s probably one more though, early in March, to be the lame duck show the week of the major show.

Or maybe it won’t be that exact tag match. Angel Mortal boasted about his win to Mi Lucha Libre, and hinted at bringing in two surprises for a Black Terry/Negro Navarro/El Brazo/Dr. Cerebro vs Angel Mortal/Gran Apache/?/?? atomicos.
