CMLL FSE #110 (09/14)

taped 09/07, aired 09/14

So. In the past, I’ve been down on Lady Apache because she’s seems to be pushed more on the prestige of her past successes than where you’d rank her abilities right now among the current roster. (It’s probably better for business that way, but you’ll forgive me if I sometimes care about what’s more interesting over what makes more money.) In the midst of begrudging her, I didn’t give her enough respect for what she still does in the ring, and she did pretty good here. The Amapola/Marcela matches were better, but this is nothing to be sad about.

This title match was in the process of being build up anyway, but it still feels like a booking correction – as if the hair match at Sin Piedad was out of the normal female booker’s control, and they quickly wanted to re-establish Amapola as the top wrestler. Which she did, totally clean here.

BTW: Lady Apache Was Right – if the minis and the women are the only ones going to do mat wrestling, then they ought to be on the anniversary show. And it seems like only the women and the minis who have blow off matches with clean finishes too.

For his experience in CMLL and his level, I think Dragon Rojo is doing perfectly fine. I don’t know if I trust him on his own in a big singles match, but then the list is small for guys around these parts I would trust.

(thanks for the assist!)

video fixed!

taped 07/27, aired 08/03

Despite the referee confusing everyone, despite Loco Max being the world’s worst cornerman (seriously, what the heck), this title match was still a pretty good match. I put the hair match ahead of it, but I give both lots of credit for working two different singles matches in a short time. Most guys seem to be working the same exact match with everyone, these two figured out how to do different things with the same opponent.

Is there an advantage because they’re paired more often than open weight guys who’d be feuding? I do know that I’m voting Pequeno Damian 666 as my luchador of the year unless someone gives me a good opposing reason.

Alex & Grey are MAGIC, but I’ve got another show where I can go off on that in great length.

(I’m setting this to post while I’m off watching the Game. If anyone wants to turn this into another thread about how minis don’t draw on FSE without also providing mountains of actual evidence and zero antecodes – which has absolutley nothing to do with any content in this post – you are risking being an easy target for an aggigated man. BEWARE!)

CMLL FSE #109 (09/07)

taped 08/31, aired 09/07

The Amapola/Lady Apache match may be good, but the matches leading up to it haven’t been. Of course, I prefer really good matches to lead up to a title match and they prefer controversy and they may be better at drawing money than I (uh, they definitely are!)

If these recaps look really short, a power outage killed the first draft and I was smart enough the second time to know it wasn’t worth typing a lot for them. If I was really smart, I wouldn’t be typing a lot any time.

CMLL FSE #108 (08/31)

I didn’t grab video for this or the next FSE, because I think this was the show I posted the full show anyway and there’s nothing worth grabbing out of either of them truly. That may tell you all you need to know for the show. Only people who really need to V3 and Universo2K wrestle in 2008 should get this show.

So I said all I needed to said about the hair match between the last post and the recap. The Volador injury did not look like it was his fault, but I could be wrong on these things. I think that match could be really good if everyone was trying and not injured, so I’m disappointed plans appeared to have changed.

Was this the first week where they had a really bright light on the left side all night? Because it really distracted me here.

I can imagine Bam Bam dropping the title back to Mini Damian in a month or two, then getting put under a mask and moved to the regular wrestler division. I can also imagine Bam Bam turning rudo and working as Pequeno Perro Aguayo. The point is, I can imagine a lot of things that certainly won’t be happening.

Pequeno Damian is the best.
