CMLL FSE GdR - 08/17/08 (#106)
Recap: 08/20/08

Promo: MARCO CORELONE. Also during the show, promos by: Shocker (w/Guapito), Terrible, Mini Damian,

They're not even doing the thing where they explain the matches right before you actually see the matches. Though they are making up some of that time with all those shot promos, 10 seconds at a time.

Match 1: Pequeño Damian 666 (c), Pequeño Violencia, Pequeño Warrior vs Bam Bam (c), Fantasy, Ultimo Dragoncito
Arena Coliseo, 08/10/08

  1. rudos
  2. rudos

Winner: rudos (2-0)
Match Time: 10:02
Approx Rating: Okay, though there's been stronger.
Other Match Notes: I am not used to Bam Bam with a title belt. He's talking hair match in his promo. Pequeño Violencia has quite the yellow hoodie coat. It's weird seeing Mini Warrior as the old Black Warrior. Mini Damian is wearing a Mini Damian mask over his facepaint. That seems unnecessary. Damian gives Bam Bam credit for getting the belt, but he's coming for the hair. ACCEPT THE MATCH. The matchup picture of Bam Bam with the belt is not so good. Either it's photoshoped badly or looks just as unnatural.

1: after a slow start, Fantasy and Warrior are starting to get something going on the mat, when they suddenly break.

Picked up where they leave up. Announcers say Ultimo Dragoncito is the only mini to be trained by Diablo Velasco. I guess Ultimo Mini de Diablo doesn't have the same ring to it. Warrior and Fantasy are okay but not good. They finish with Warrior turning around and pretty much pointing to his back so Fantasy could dropkick him out. Pequeño Violencia is much more blond nowadays. He matches up with Dragoncito, which features a drawn out Violencia debate about punching. A fine 90 second digress for a twenty minute match. I don't think we're getting a twenty minute match. Dragoncito has fast counters and slides out Violencia via armdrag. Captains meet. They've got the "Bam Bam flips around a lot, Damian clotheslines him down to make him look dumb" spot down. Bam  gets tossed around by his hair and Damian throws him for the ring with a running shoulderblock Dragoncito comes in and lands lots of kicks, but the rudos team up on him. It doesn't last long, one missed double clothesline later and Dragoncito is causing the rudos to hit each other. A lot. Warrior is the last one in, but Damian yanks Dragon out before he can do any more. Damian holds Dragoncito in a slingshot, and Warrior adds a slingshot guillotine to the floor! Violencia is able to take care of Fantasy by himself for a moment, catching him on a corner handstand and powerbombing him in position for a top rope move. Damian holds Fantasy as Violencia goes up - top rope senton, one two three. Figured they were just going to count Dragoncito out, but no, Bam Bam and worked over. Triple pose and submission can't quite come together (Damián wants to stand on the other's backs, but can't get up), but they adjust enough to make it work.

2: Rudos still in control. Bam Bam takes corner clotheslines, but they screw around before whipping Damian in, and so Bam Bam has plenty of time to move out of the way. Superkick for Damian, tecnicos dropkick the other tow out. Bam Bam kills time by superkicking Damian again, while everyone else kinda stands around thinks about dives. Bam Bam throws Damian around by his hair for some revenge. Guess everyone went to their corners. Whip, reversed, Bam Bam with a Tiger mask fakeout thru the ropes, Damian flies out of the ring, and Bam Bam chases after him with with a super tornillo! Fantasy gets Violencia with a headscissors,  and a rebound armdrags to send him out. Fantasy slingshots to the apron and springs off the middle rope with an Asai Moonsault. Warrior in, and running into a back backdrop. Dragoncito gets him with a spinning armdrag, then goes full speed for a thru the ropes tope con giro! Capitans in, Bam Bam sunset flip, Damian rolls thru, dropkick misses and Bam Bam covers him up for two. Bam Bam up first, waiting for Damian to chop him around. Corner whip, Bam Bam boosted to the apron. Damian's knocked back, Bam Bam springboard 'rana - no, Damian just dropped him hard with a powerbomb! One two three.

Replays as Mini Damian demands a hair vs hair match in the background. Time killing, but apparently not enough to show us the minis talking.

Match 2: Mephisto (c), Ephesto, Texano vs Valiente, Sagrado, La Mascara (c)
Arena Coliseo, 08/10/08

  1. tecnicos
  2. rudos
  3. tecnicos

Winner: tecnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 14:20
Approx Rating: usual
Other Match Notes: The highlight of Sagrado & La Mascara's promo is Sagrado making dog whistle sounds. Texano and Mephisto are less amusing. Wait, why is La Mascara the captain? Putting aside the current king of air, it's odd how I think more of Sagrado than they do.

1: Sagrado and Texano have the opening long stretch, though it's less mat wrestling more simple stuff as Magadan talks about judo and jujitsu for no reason I can understand. I don't know that stuff, but neither do these two. Valiente and Ephesto are next, and Ephesto's all ready to wrestle until he finds a wet spot in the ring. So he stops to clean it up. For real, not some rudo trick. Valiente kicks the bottom rope in frustration or boredom or something. Valiente gets about four armdrags in five seconds to make up for the delay. They end up going half way up an aisle after their exchange, Ephesto walking to the exit rather than take any more. Mascara's peach with a green accented mask is an odd color combination. Mephisto pounds him, Mascara escape for a while, one headscissors, and Mascara is toping Mephisto. Valiente gets Ephesto with a plancha, and a layout front slam into a chestbreaker for the pin. Sagrado gets Texano with a 'rana for the other pin.

2: Mephisto quickly trips up Sagrado form the outside so the rudos can stomp him. They all do so, not betting to go after the other tecnicos, so this isn't quite a beatdown yet. Sagrado rolls under a double clothesline, superkicks Mephisto, Ephesto helpfully throws a clothesline, Sagrado ducks that and ends up with the space he needs to do another superkick. These are getting about mid chest area, of course, Overhead headscissors to send Texano into the ropes, and a kick to knock him free of them. Texano takes a hard fall to the floor but I gather that was the idea. Valiente and Ephesto in. Valiente dropkicks Ephesto out when he celebrates after a backdrop (which Valiente flipped out of.) Mephisto does manage to get that backdrop, and celebrates it mightily. Valiente looks nifty flipping of a monkey flip even if Mephisto was being quite lazy in the spots leading up to it. Texano gets a hair pull and a two tilt-a-whirl backbreakers. Tecnicos are getting quite a lot here, I keep waiting for the beatdown to start and it's jut not. Rudos huddle on the outside, so Mascara teases diving on them. Rudos split apart as Mascara rushes them, Mascara slides out, and the rudos swears him. There's the beatdown. Tecnicos try to help, are no help. Valiente gets posted good. Mephisto seems to enjoy punching Mascara in the face quite a bit. He's brought in the ring to be worked over by all three men. Sagrado in next, and Ephesto and Texano use the Mini FDT finish - face first powerbomb/chestbreaker combo. Valiente in next, and the rudos do the old Triad spot of hiptossing into a giant splash on their victim. That's the fall, though Mascara still tries to come in and still gets beat.

3: beatdown continues. I wrote that before the last fall started. You see, I've seen a CMLL match before. Crazy! Killing time while they kill time. We're just here for Valiente to do his move, right? Hey, a nice triple powerbomb La Mascara. Rudos sorta pull him up before three, Sagrado sorta breaks it up. Choose your favorite story. Triple boot for Sagrado. Valiente tries to figure out a way he can beat all three men. He can not! Corner clotheslines for him. Mascara tries to go after Mephisto, as if he's the weak link. Should've picked Ephesto. Mephisto tries to bite him thru his boot, which is just a bad idea on multiple levels. Corner whip goes array. Mephisto flipped to the apron, Ephesto and Texano kicked away, everyone waits for a second, superkick for Ephesto, Texano misses a clothesline, turns, waits (nice job hiding it with a camera switch), Sagrado gets him with a plancha. Sagrado off the ropes, waved by Texano, and straight into a tope on Ephesto. Valiente grabs Texano, but Texano gets free and Mascara dropkicks his own partner. Texano knock Mascara in the ropes, but throws himself out trying to get run over Mascara. Valiente instantly hits the Valiente Special, and it's prefect. Mascara and Mephisto are left - captains, of course. Mascara escapes a tilt-a-whirl, springboards into a bodyscissors into the campana, and that's the match.

Lots of standing around after, and post match interviews, because they've got a couple minutes to care. Sagrado talks mask/hair match with Texano. Why. Replays. That's it.
