recap

Highs and lows of CMLL in one show. Good stuff is overshadowed by programming decisions.

typical of this match

Olímpico, Psicosis, Volador Jr. vs Atlantis, Delta, Guerrero Maya Jr. for the Mexican National Trios Championship: Great match. We should all be very sad if these rudos go separate ways after this match, because they’ve been great together every time they’ve had a big match, and this was no different. New champions were great too – this wasn’t a great Maya match but continues the trend of every big match with him in it turning out great – and the Tirantes storyline really didn’t detract from everything else. It was a isolated from everything else, just a couple minute sidebar in a fast paced fifteen minutes.

a "finish"

Blue Panther vs Felino for the hair: finish made a little more sense on TV but came off just as anti-climatic. Felino vs Blue Panther being settled by a misunderstanding of the rules is not just bad for this match, but poisons the well for other future matches. There’s also the bit where the rudos come off as técnicos – unless they’re doing a double turn soon, none of this makes any sense (and even that makes only a little sense.)

Mexico, LyC, Volador, lots of lineups

2) Hierro & Leo vs Magnum & Ráfaga
3) Astral, Bam Bam, Eléctrico vs Demus 3:16, Pequeño Violencia, Pierrothito

5) Atlantis, Delta, Guerrero Maya Jr. vs Morphosis, Psicosis, Volador Jr. [MEX TRIOS]

The rematch! I’m actually a bit curious about how Morphosis is going to do in Olimpico’s place; Olimpico’s been good on that team. Seems like it took an extra week for Morphosis’ name change to propagate over here. DNS is slower in Mexico. Think I should try very hard to record this one, at any rate.

Two minis matches on one day! If only any of them could get a rivalry.

recap

I thought this was not as good as expecting. There were matches worked in styles I didn’t like, and at least one of those were bad by any measure. Wagner vs Park was not a particuarlly good or memorable match, and this show really could’ve used one.
