taped 2011-11-13 @ Arena Mexico
Garza’s last match (so far), and a big match between two people trying to replace him.
As mentioned last night, Texano Jr. is leaving CMLL. Not sure if Tuesday is his actual last match, since Garza has stuck around far after he gave notice (see below for more), but Texano is not currently listed on any CMLL cards.
Losing an active champion is embarrassing in the short term, but losing a motivated young guy just about in the prime of his career is a bigger problem for CMLL in the long term. CMLL’s in desperate need to rebuild itself around a core of younger talent, and Texano, 27, would’ve been logical part of that core – if they’d pick four guys, it’d make most sense to pick him, Rush, Volador, and Sombra. CMLL had sort of done that, it’s in own way – Texano & Terrible got the big win over foreign threats No Limit two years ago, went to Japan to represent the company last year, beat Super Porky & Maximo earlier this year at Dos Leyendas. The Doble T tag team, which sadly seems like it’s going separate ways, was at least scheduled like top stars over the last couple of years, and especially since teaming with Bucanero to form TRT. By CMLL standards, this is a big push, but it might not be enough by the standards of the day or what he was making.
It doesn’t seem like Texano will be the last to leave. SuperLuchas says another top star is leaving CMLL to join Perros del Mal. So far, everyone who’s joined that promotion has previously had some relationship with the group. Texano J.’s is not a well remembered member, but his rudo turn on Sagrado & Maximo to join the group was the start of his current character. KrisZ’s suggested Demus as a possibility. That would give Dorada a new touring opponent to replace Pierrothito, and Demus has shown a willingness to make changes in his career if he thinks it’ll be a better deal (and then unmake those changes.) The other past Perros del Members still in CMLL are Mr. Aguila (who was my hunch), Terrible, Averno, Mephisto, Shocker and Toscano. Please remember, we’re not even sure it was a former member, that’s just the pattern.
For CMLL, I do expect they’ll stick someone in Texano’s place to keep the TRT trio going. Not only because it’s a group they seem to care about, but because it plays a role in El Luchador show as Bucanero’s faction. (I’d expect Texano will still pop up on that before the show ends, since the Anniversary show might be the final episode.) Tiger makes sense from the ongoing storylines and the name, but CMLL’s seem reluctant to use either of the kiddy cats past the second match and that’d be a huge jump. Someone a bit higher up stepping in unofficially might be the more immediate solution.

CMLL (SUN) 11/20/2011 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [Fuego en el Ring]
1) In Memoriam b Eros
Single fall match.
2) Black Metal & Molotov b Ángel del Mal & Disturbio
Tecnicos took 1/3. Molotov replaced Hombre Bala, who was doubled boocked here and Mexico.
3) Stuka Jr. b Malefico, Fuego, Ráfaga, Ángel Azteca Jr., Metatrón, Inquisidor, Súper Comando, Leo, Rey Trueno, Artillero, Virgo [cibernetico, Torneo Revolución Mexicana]
Teams were GDL (Virgo, Metatron, Leo, Malefico, Rafaga, Rey Trueno) vs DF (Stuka, Fuego, Inquisidor, Super Comando, Artillero, Angel Azteca). Stuka landed the torpedo splash on Malefico to win.
4) Guerrero Maya Jr., La Sombra, Máscara Dorada DQ Dragón Rojo Jr., Mr. Águila, Psicosis
Guerrero Maya replaced Toscano. Tecnicos took 2/3, with Dragon Rojo fouling Mascara Dorada in front of both referees. Dorada challenged Dragon Rojo to a singles match next week. Dragon Rojo did not accept, declaring himself the best luchador in all of Guadalajara. (They’re having the singles match anyway.)
During the show, it was announced the Sunday shows would now start 15 minutes earlier, and there would be discounts on some tickets.
I do not have full results from Tuesday from this building, but a couple notes. Streaming video site RadioPirata seems to be doing Tuesday night broadcasts at 8pm, about a half hour before the show actually starts, and then shooting the show. I was paying more attention to tools to record the broadcast (and eventually got it to work) then the matches themselves, but the video quality seemed really good for a steaming site. In the tercera, Bam Bam & Astral beat Pequeno Violencia & Pierrothito, Bam Bam getting another pin on Pierrothito. That sets up a title match here next week, which would be Bam Bam’s second shot at the lightweight title here in two months. The last one as good but clipped up on Teleforumla, maybe we can get a better version this way.
CMLL (TUE) 11/22/2011 Arena Mexico [CMLL, CMLL Gaceta, Record]
1) Artillero & Súper Comando b Metálico & Soberano Jr.
2) Dark Angel, Lluvia, Luna Mágica b La Comandante, Princesa Sugheit, Zeuxis
Tecnicas won the first when a Zeuxis (first match back) tope took out La Comandate. Rudas came back to wins the second, tecnicos took the third despite Dark Angel being hurt on a plancha.
3) Diamante, Sagrado, Sangre Azteca b Misterioso Jr., Shigeo Okumura, Vangelis
Tecnicos took 2/3
4) Rey Bucanero, Terrible, Texano b Máximo, Rush, Super Porky
Straight fall win for a suddenly dominant TRT. Super Porky was hurt in the first and stretchered out.
5) La Máscara b Averno [NWA MIDDLE]
Finally! Averno attacked La Mascara’s knee in the first and put on an STF to the take the fall. Mascara was limping around, but got a cradle in the second to tie it up. Long third fall, with Averno looking over confident. Mascara eventually caught him in the campana for the win and title change.
CMLL Gaceta explains Dark Angel slipped off the top rope when trying her usual plancha. That sounds very unfun. It also might mean her five year run as CMLL women’s bodybuilding champion is over, if she’s too hurt to pose. That contest, if you’ve tried to forget, will take place tomorrow, with everyone who’s bought a ticket for Friday’s show getting in to this bit free. That is your entire preview.
Like Hombre Bala, Mascara Dorada was also booked elsewhere on Sunday night that he couldn’t possibly make, in Cuernavaca, Morelos. Who did CMLL get to fill in? Why, Hector Garza, of course. If Garza didn’t make those (actually completely pointless run-ins), we still wouldn’t know that he’s leaving. They set up Averno vs La Mascara for Mascara’s National Light Heavyweight Championship there on 12/03. More recently, it sounds like Hector said nothing controversial on Tercera Caida last night, continuing to be respectful for his former workplace.
Other News
MedioTiempo says the main event of Guerra de Titanes is LA Park vs Dr. Wagner for the Latin American title, based on the poster. (AAA sort of confirmed this.) They’re certainly capable of having a match against each other. I presume this means they’re doing another bounty hunter versus Mesias, and no Jarrett for this show. Mesias has a video response to the bounty on AAA’s website.
LuchaPOP has posted brackets for it’s POP Star tournament on 11/26: The winner of Trauma I & Negro Navarro will face the winner of Atomic Boy & Terremoto, and the winner of Triton & Black Terry will face the winner of Traum II & Judas. My guess is a Negro Navarro vs Black Terry final.
DTU will add a women’s match to their anniversary show if they get 80 likes.

LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update.
Lucha Libre in Japan
As expected, Lady Apache fell to Yumiko Hotta in a decision match for REINA’s new world title. In other matches, Marcela & debuting Sahori defeated Ayumi & Aki Kanbayashi as they build towards Marcela vs Ayumi.
Earlier Tuesday, TRT won the semimain match, defeating the team of Maximo, Rush and Super Porky. It was the second straight week of wins for the rudos, both weeks by straight falls. It seemed like the start of a renewed focus on the trio, but it appears as though it’s actually their swansong.
Enrique Yniesta, who knows everything, posted on Twitter that Texano Jr. has left CMLL. He later pulled the tweet, saying he wanted to protect his source. (An earlier message, saying one of TRT had quit, is still up.) This is the last CMLL show Texano is listed on at the moment; he’s also part of the Dr. X show, but that’s more of an indy deal.
There is no word where Texano is headed. The presumption is Perros/AAA, but I’m not sure we can safely make that assumption right now. It’s the most logical answer but not the only option.
More on this on Wednesday.
LyC (SUN) 11/20/2011 Arena Coliseo Monterrey [RFC, Telediario]
1) Xtreme Boy b Black Silver
2) Chamaco Gurrola b Cyber Payaso, Drako
3) Ninja Jr. b Simbolo, Big Neurosis, Rico Rodriguez, Epidemius, Artillero, Principe Guerrero II, Gemelo Muerte I, Gemelo Muerte II, Rey Orion, Rey Demonio Jr., Exterminio, Core, Gato Fantasma, Golden Boy, Black Poison, Dralion, Silencio, Rey Imagen, Rey Dragon, Máscara Púrpura, Hijo Del Mongol Chino, Scravos, Genocida, Kratos, Maravilla Azteca Jr., Rosa Salvaje, Gardenia Azteca, Drako, Demencia
El Ninja Jr. drew 30 (last) in their Royal Rumble, clotheslined the two people left in the match (Simbolo and Rodriguez) out of the ring and won the title shot – against his brother, Hijo del Ninja. Hijo del Ninja promptly turned on him.
I might have spent an hour setting up the database to declare everyone’s alignment in the rumble. You’re on your own for the undercard.
Ultimo Guerrero & Dragon Rojo kept the tag titles in Puebla last night, defeating Shocker & Mascara Dorada. That’s defense #8 for the champs. They said early on that they’d like to beat Rey Bucanero & UG’s title record, and are now about half way there by the luchawiki count.
Drago, who’s had an arm injury so horrible I didn’t want to gif it and is supposed to be out for months, wrestled Friday in Tijuana (and won!). It looked like his arm just dislocated at his elbow, so maybe you could just put on a brace and work thru it? I would not do that but I am definitely no dragon luchador. Drago also might have wrestled at Arena San Juan Pantitlan this weekend, and appears to be the same guy under the mask.

Prior to July 2009 (read: under previous management), Tuesday Guadalajara shows had a lot of singles matches. This might be the first appreciable change.

There should’ve been some but about Sagrado teaming with those guys when they debuted here the first time, but it’s long gone. I’ll pick it up next time.
