Other News
A few days ago, the Guadalajara lineup for this upcoming Sunday oddly vanished from CMLL.com. There also was a Facebook post on the Arena Coliseo Guadalajara show saying Sunday’s show is canceled. Fuego en el Ring has posted a Q&A with Pato Soria, part of a radio show to be broadcast this weekend, where Soria says Sunday’s show is canceled by request of the Pan American Games. Soria says a person (who he will not name) asked him to cancel the show to give more prominence to the Pan American Games. I’m not really sure how the 1,500 people CMLL draws on Sundays is really going to pull away from the closing ceremony to a well attended sports event. Soria also says implies he’s leaving Guadalajara after next Tuesday’s show (which happens to be main evented by Mr. Niebla vs Shocker, his son) but does not really explain that either. A few days ago, there was a post on Box Y Lucha saying Apolo Dantes was taking this arena back over, but that’s been said many times since he was booted out of power here.
There is a show there in Guadalajara tonight. Olimpico, Psicosis and Volador should keep the national trios titles over La Mascara, Metro and Sagrado in the semimain. Atlantis and UG meet in the main event. In Arena Mexico, there’s that Amapola vs Marcela match, plus a rematch of the Avernos vs Dorada/Sombra/Garza. My hunch is that’s a trios title match next weekend.
Casandro‘s name has been removed from AAA’s TV taping in Ecatepec. Date conflict? It’s just luchador sorpresa for now.
The Quien pinta para la Corona talent search is headed to Leon next weekend. I believe that’s the last city they’re going to.
Low Rider talks about his trip to Orlando to tryout out for TNA. He worked with Amazing Red, and was recommended by Hernandez.
Rob has highlights of 10/26/10 Arena Mexico.

CMLL shows here seem to be down to one a month
Tomorrow adds another chapter to the longest running active female feud in Mexico, Amapola vs Marcela. The two have been the tent poles of CMLL’s women division since it’s restart in 2005. Singles matches are rare in Mexico, rarer still for women, and yet they’ve managed to have twenty six known different singles matches in the last six years. Most of those have been matches for the CMLL Women’s Championship.
Amapola has held the title for nearly four years, Marcela has gotten almost as many shots as everyone else combined, and lost every time. Marcela has lost to Amapola in Mexico, in Japan, even in Guatemala. She’s lost twelve times. Friday is the thirteenth. It’s a ridiculous situation – how does someone get thirteen shots at a title??? – but it’s a tolerable one because the two consistently have great matches against each other, at a level that couldn’t be expected from many other possible matchups.
Seven of the twelve matches in the streak have made TV. Three of those matches do not appear to be on any internet site:
2009-07-28 Arena Mexico (aired on C3)
2009-12-07 Arena Puebla (aired on TV Deportes)
2010-03-16 Arena Meixco (aired on C3)
Here’s the other four…
CMLL (MON) 10/24/2011 Arena Puebla [Porra Fresa]
1) Artillero, Sauron, Súper Comando b Camaleón, Metatrón, Stigma
Rudos took 2/3.
2) Demus 3:16, Pequeño Nitro, Pierrothito b Bam Bam, Eléctrico, Último Dragoncito
Rudos took 1/3.
3) Ángel de Oro, Metro, Valiente b Cancerbero, Misterioso Jr., Raziel
Tecnicos took 2/3. Best match of the night.
4) Dragón Rojo Jr., Negro Casas, Volador Jr. b Blue Panther, La Máscara, La Sombra
Rudos took 1/3, Volador getting the pin on Sombra. Those two and Panther/Casas feuded during the match.
5) Jushin Lyger b Texano Jr. [CMLL MIDDLE]
No seconds. Lyger dominated the first fall, but Texano snuck in a powerbomb and got his feet on the ropes. Lyger took the last two to keep the title.
This week’s Observer clarifies some details of the WWE tryouts. It’s version of events says only Bestia 666 was recommended by Rey Misterio Jr., not the Park or Wagner kids. All the tryout guys wrestle matches (in the empty arena) without their masks. No indication of how any one did. Since the list of names showed up in the Observer, and all the Spanish lucha sites get most of their news by reading what people cut and paste from it elsewhere, the list of names is going to be all over the place by the end of day. The complete WON list is Hijo de LA Park, Bestia 666, Zumbi, Averno, La Sombra, Hijo del Fantasma, Volador Jr., Magnus, El Hijo Dr. Wagner Jr. and “other whose names we haven’t gotten yet.” The feeling in the Observer is Averno, Sombra and Volador are too actually be suspended. As for the other two, I think Magnus may be bulletproof because his role on the reality show and Fantasma’s father being on the commission prevents CMLl from being too harsh towards him.
The Observer also confirms Mascarita Dorada has quit CMLL (again.) He’s back under the Mascarita Plateada on the Todos x el Todos show. It also mentions the New Abismo Negro reality show was a Televisa pushed idea and AAA only has committed to doing the pilot episode.
Kaiser Sports mentions Intocable was in the front row of Tuesday’s Arena Mexico show, and Marco Corleone was around on Friday (though not as noticeable.)
Rey Escorpion’s son will be undergoing the operation he needs on Friday, thanks in part to funds from the benefit show from Arena Lopez Mateos a few weeks ago.
The tickets for the Santo/Park/Demon vs Carlito/Cabana/Rikishi Arena Monterrey show run from 100 to 800 MP ($7.50 to $60 USD). That’s quite a range.
Lucha POP announced the other four groups in it’s Discipulo de Oro tournament
Team Justiciero: Ztizan (c), Dragon Negro, Gander
Team Villano IV: Negro Casasola (c), Templario, El Bizarro
Team Gallego: Rayito Mendoza (c), Shark Boy, Maligno
Team Super Colt: Mr. Leo (c), Boikot, Sublime
Looks it was Pirata Morgan’s team was dropped.

CMLL (TUE) 11/01/2011 Arena Mexico
***Fan Apperciation Day, November (TUE)***
1) Bengala & Camaleón vs Cholo & Ramstein
2) Astral, Eléctrico, Pequeño Maximo vs Demus 3:16, Pequeño Nitro, Pierrothito
3) Diamante, Fuego, Guerrero Maya Jr. vs Loco Max, Nitro, Skándalo
4) Delta, Máximo, Super Porky vs El Alebrije, Histeria, Olímpico
5) La Máscara, La Sombra, Rush vs Averno, Psicosis, Volador Jr.
Main event should be fun and semimain should be good comedy for the people coming on cheap tickets. This is the show with 10 peso tickets if you come in costume. Super Porky will surely dress up for Dia de Muerteos, but Rush really needs to dress up as Perro Aguayo just to do it.
