Demus wins a cibernetico, Perico outsmarts Maximo

CMLL (TUE) 02/08/2011 Arena Mexico [CMLL]
1) Enrique Vera Jr. & Leono b Bronco & Mortiz
2) Demus 3:16 b Virus, Stuka Jr., Fuego, Ángel de Plata, Dr. X, Puma King, Rey Cometa, Hijo del Signo, Durango Kid, Hombre Bala Jr., Dragon Lee [cibernetico]
Order in reverse order of elimination. Dragon Lee knocked himself out on a dive. CMLL.com says he had memory issues, which sounds bad. Final four were Stuka/Fuego/Virus/Demus, but the rudos surprisingly beat both the tecnicos. While the ref was busy getting Stuka out, Demus fouled Virus and got the winning pin. CMLL taunts this as the student beating the teacher.
3) Héctor Garza, Shigeo Okumura, Texano DQ Hijo del Fantasma, Super Porky, Toscano
Texano fouled Super Porky. Porky demanded a hair match.
4) La Máscara, La Sombra, Rush b Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto
Rush pinned Ephesto with a back suplex.

CMLL (TUE) 02/08/2011 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [Amor al Deportes, Fuego en el Ring]
1) Magnum b Evola
Samurai was referee, and Evola was not happy with his deciding count
2) Guerrero Maya Jr. & Starman b Infierno & León Blanco
3) Pequeño Universo 2000 & Pierrothito b Eléctrico & Shockercito
4) Gallo, Sagrado, Sangre Azteca b Escorpion, Misterioso II, Pólvora
Sangre Azteca teaming with Gallo & Sagrado just seems wrong. Rudos punished Sangre for switching sides, but Sangre pulled off a surprise small package on Misterioso to win it for his side.
5) Felino & Rey Bucanero b Máscara Dorada & Máximo
Tecnicos took the first. Rudos got the second when Bucanero faked a foul from Maximo, as he did last week. Maximo tried the same trick in the third, the fans protested, and Perico flew over and fouled Maximo in the confusion. Bucanero pinned Maximo for the win. Fine teamwork!

Mi Lucha Libre visits El Mexicano’s lucha libre class, which includes his two sons.  I would not take credit for training El Padrino.

On the Naucalpan AAA taping, Hijo de Tirantes bashed Fabi Apache’s leg with a bat. That should put her out of action for a while. Gran Apache is not happy.

A flyer for shows from February 22 to 24 in Tamaulipas list a bunch of CMLL, indy, and US indy names: Maximo, Olimpico, Alebrije, Estrellita, La Mascara, Casandro, Mil Mascara, Octagoncito, Carlito, Colt Cabana, Adam Pearce and Mellisa Anderson among others. Cabana’s website has a list of upcoming dates but doesn’t (yet?) mention any of those.

CMLL Guadalajara on Teleformula #31 (01/23/2011)

recap: here

???

taped in Arena Coliseo Guadalajara, 12/14/2010 and 11/23/2010

La Comandante & Princesa Blanca vs Goya Kong & Silueta: Silueta must have been a gymnast in a former life, because she’s got the flips down. The rest needs more work, but so does a half dozen other people. On the other hand, if they wait to debut her in Mexico City until she’s actually good, that’d be a decent introduction.

Delta, Sagrado, Valiente vs Héctor Garza, Mr. Águila, Volador Jr.: no idea why they aired this. Someone wants to see Delta/Hector Garza matchups? This was two days before the bodybuilding contest and you can tell. Valiente might have been a lightweight on this show.

5) Dr. Wagner Jr., Monster Clown, Murder Clown, Psycho Clown vs ?, Damián 666, Halloween, Super Crazy

Projected Air Date (#978)
Mexico: 02/27
US: 03/12

Five matches means one week of TV means there’s a yet to be announced taping for early March.

The mystery guy in the main event is a Perro. I bet it’s Diva Salvaje! (It’s probably not Diva Salvaje)

Aerostar, by process of elimination? Mesias has Park, Super Fly has Octagon, Electro has Metal.

The second match is “ordered by Dorian Roldan”. I could think of no worse punishment than having a match with Silver King.

Either Ronin is not who we thought he was, or he’s missing a show somewhere.

Ultimo Guerrero/Psicosis, Mistico, Rey de Reyes

CMLL (MON) 02/07/2011 Arena Puebla [Cinco Radio]
3) Máximo, Toscano, Valiente b Shigeo Okumura, Vangelis, Yoshihashi
4) Blue Panther, Hijo del Fantasma, Máscara Dorada DQ Atlantis, Averno, Dragón Rojo Jr.
5) Último Guerrero b Psicosis
Guerrero Special for the clean win. Tirantes was no factor (or Psicosis was beyond help.)

Mistico

CMLL is advertising him for future shows. Zocalo writes about a trios of CMLL shows at Arena Pavillon del Norte this month. CMLL’s been sending 2-6 guys there regularly, and the match they’re sending for 02/27 are Averno & Volador Jr. vs La Mascara & Mistico. The Arena Coliseo Monterrey promoters also are advertising Mistico for their 02/27 show (and CMLL guys usually work both.) The Zocalco show refers to Mistico’s mask as part of a farewell tour before starting with WWE, though it’s not clear if CMLL or the article is labeling that way.

CMLL had previously mentioned Mistico would work all previously scheduled dates. Prior to now, there just had not been any announced dates, but both major lucha promotions schedule long in advance. This is still just an agreement between CMLL and the local promoter. We’ll know if Mistico still is working these dates if he appears at the press conference.

WagnerMania writes about the changes in Mistico’s personality over time.

Related: Cesar teases the identity of another CMLL luchador who tried out for WWE. Plenty of people know who this person is. (Even *I* know.) It’s just not clear if CMLL knows. If they do, they haven’t suspended him. If they don’t, and the name gets out, and he gets suspended, that’ll be sad for everyone. I’m 99% sure they know the name – when CMLL was told about Mistico trying out, they were told about everyone who tried out – but better safe than sorry. As far as we know, only Mistico was signed.

Related 2: Estrellas del Ring interviews El Hijo del Medico Asesino, who talks about wanting to make it to CMLL someday, and doesn’t mention a word about WWE. Huh.

Rey de Reyes

Mi Lucha Libre has all four groups, including the two new yet to be revealed ones:

A: Extreme Tiger won
B: Electroshock, Aerostar, Super Fly, Mesias
C: Dr. Wagner, LA Park, Halloween, Nicho el Millonario
D: Jack Evans, Carlito, Ozz, Decnnis

The Electroshock vs Super Fly feud lives! That seems like three tecnicos and one rudo, though I’m not totally sure what sign Electroshock is meant to be on. Jack and Carlito can discuss coping with unhappy working arrangements before their match. I have no strong feeling on who’s going to win any of these groups, but it is nice they have four. I suspect all the ‘big’ names will take each other out so they can be spun out into single matches.

They announced the C group on TV, but maybe the B group is next? AAA says they’ll be announcing the next taping lineup in a few days.

Other Stuff

Viva La Lucha: Continental Conflict debuts on PPV this weekend. The trailer is here. The Mexico matches are from the 11/06 Perros del Mal Tijauna show.

Main event this Sunday for FULL/CMLL @ Arena Coliseo Monterrey (& Arena Pavillon): Rey Bucanero, Dr. X, Skandalo vs Mr. Aguila, Hijo del Fantasma, Angel de Oro. Bucanero and Aguila seem flipped, even though both are technically rudos.

In the undercard of the DTU show where Aeroboy and Violento Jack picked up the AULL Tag Team Titles, Zagma beat Desafiante for his mask. Also in the match: Fly Star (or Cometa Fly in DTU’s recap), who said to be training under Decnnis. No idea Decnnis was training people.

We still don’t know if tonight’s Arena Mexico Cibernetico means anything, but Virus and Stuka are co-favorites.

Teleformula was a repeat. Neither ECLL and 100% Lucha were on the schedule, and I don’t think I’ll remember to mention ECLL much longer.

Warriorx2000

I know the last few C3 shows are around (including Amapola/Marcela), but he hasn’t posted a link on his blog so I’m not sure if they’re good to link. His YouTube channel has this week’s CMLL & AAA, so I suspect full files will be up later this week. IWRG was pre-empted Sunday night due to the Caribbean World Series but should’ve aired on Monday.

FantasticaMania, Day 1

  • Part 1: Taichi/Maximo + Dorada/Taguchi
  • Part 2: Sombra/Lyger + Okumura/Atlantis vs Anderson/Devitt
  • Part 3: La Mascara/Tiger Mask IV vs Dragon Rojo/Ishii + Tanahashi/Devitt/Mistico vs Nakanishi/Averno/Naito

I’ve watched up to  the main event, and I’d say Part 2 is the one to get if you’re going to get any of them. Sombra/Lyger is real good and the match of the show to see, tag match is better than expected. Taichi/Maximo is good. Dorada is hurting. Mascara has maybe the worst match I’ve ever seen; the only hope is it was so stupendously bad (seemed to be a concussion in the first few seconds), everyone will realize they should just throw that match out because no one who’s normally that bad would ever be allowed in the ring.

Edit

FantasticaMania, Day 2

  • Part 1: Dino/Maximo + Taichi/Dragon/Atlantis vs Lyger/Bernard/Anderson
  • Part 2: Trios title match, Tiger Mask/Ishii
  • Part 3: Mistico/Averno, Devitt/Taguchi vs Ibushi/Omega

CMLL Guerreros del Ring on 52MX #270 (01/22/2011)

recap: here

mighty slam

file: http://www.multiupload.com/5NT9TXG54U>

taped in Arena Coliseo, 01/16/2011

Astro Boy, Höruz, Starman vs Apocalipsis, Demus 3:16, Skándalo: I swear there was a two month stretch where Hijo de Faraon was good, right when he debuted. Things haven’t gone well since. Maybe it’s the umlaut, but had a good night here. I wonder if they’ve started another midcard cage match bit where the people who started it aren’t in the match by the end. (That would assume PLANS, a dangerous thing.)

Blue Panther, Super Porky, Toscano vs Atlantis, Averno, Héctor Garza: One of those fun live matches that don’t transfer favorably to TV. Avenro’s slam on Porky was mighty. Porky really has shrank.
