CMLL Guerreros del Ring on 52MX #270 (01/22/2011)
Recapped: 01/22/10

They're back to taping in HD, though the show is still airing in SD.

Match 1: Astro Boy, Höruz, Starman vs Apocalipsis, Demus 3:16, Skándalo
Arena Coliseo, 01/16/2011

  1. técnicos

  2. técnicos

Winner: técnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 10:27
Rating: fine while it lasted
Notes: No captains are announced. Referees are Bestia Negra and Pompin.

1: Pairs are Horuz/Apocalispis (lots of talk about Angel Blanco), Starman/Skándalo and Astro Boy/Demus. Astro Boy gets in his running front flip and a tope con giro, both looking good. Técnicos immediately wrap it up after the dive.

2: Horuz got another showcase sequence versus Apocalipsis, but the rudos beat up Starman to start the beatdown. A lot of punching and stomping, but these are the most passionate rudos about that sort of thing. Horus was pretty active for someone who had no role in the finish: he made a brief comeback only to get flattened by a Apocalipsis top rope rolling senton, then lost his mask in a spot where he probably wasn't supposed to. Apocalipsis had him by the legs, Demus pulls him by the head, and the mask just came off. Referees didn't do anything, Demus tossed the mask out of the ring and Horus rolled out after. It didn't make any sense to have happened, because Skándalo had also already untied Starman's mask and the finish (after a couple rapid eliminations that looked good, and Skándalo tripping up Horus when going for an Asai on Damian) was Skándalo both fouling Starman and pulling his mask off. No sense to be an earlier mask spot if that's the finish. Horuz looked good, though.

Hooray for not taking the extra break in this match and not giving away the length.

Match 2: Blue Panther ©, Super Porky, Toscano vs Atlantis ©, Averno, Héctor Garza
Arena Coliseo, 01/16/2011

  1. técnicos

  2. rudos
  3. rudos

Winner: rudos (2-1)
Match Time: 11:57
Rating: more fun live than on TV
Notes: Same referees.

1: Fall is dominated by crowd chants and people slapping Porky in the face. Porky gets the longest run of a técnico dominated fall with his usual bits, mostly off Hector Garza. That leads right into triple defeat finish. Porky's sit on Averno is amusingly light, he just gently sits down.

2: Long showcases for Panther and Toscano in this fall. Panther sends both Hector Garza out, and Garza swings wildly right in front of some terrified front row fans. Averno runs up the entrance aisle multiple times to evade dives. Rudos are eventually able to control Porky, and quickly wrap up the other two to tie the match.

3: Averno beats up Porky, into the lap of a woman in the front row, while the other rudos just stare at the ring girl. Beatdown only involves Porky, and he escapes a corner charge to stop it. Rudos get sandwhiched in the corner once, but only Garza takes a second time. Toscano tries to follow him out with a pescado, but Garza kicks Toscano on the way down. Other rudos immediately finish the match. Averno doesn’t just slam Porky, he holds him up for a while before dropping him down. Porky's dropped a lot of weight, but that's still a lot of weight.
