AAA-US: Mari Apache vs Sexi Star, Perro Aguayo returns to team up with Hernandez & Zorro vs Cibernetico/Mesias/Parka
52MX: Poder Polvora vs Delta, Diamante, Valiente
LATV: If they air a new epsiode: Solidly in the period where the main show is airing 4 matches a week, so every week has a repeat if they don’t start showing openers. New match here is Fuego/Stuka/Valiente vs Misterioso/Okumura/Yoshihashi.
GDL: PALACIO NEGRO ALERT. Locals take on Ephesto, Euforia, Vangelis. Also, Fantasma, Rayo, Valiente vs Atlantis, Averno, Dragon Rojo
—————
CMLL: top 3 or 4 includes the setup to the 10/01 hair match (since Mr. Aguila won’t put up his hair, it’s probably either Charly vs Negro or Charly vs Bucanero.) If the pattern from Puebla and Guadalajara holds up, maybe the main events sets up one last Lyger big match to finish up.
AAA: Half of the 09/19 taping, but I’m not sure which half.
CMLL FOX: Dorada & the minis, and then a match with Porky/StrongMan/Toscano vs Pesta Negra match. The highs and the lows.
C3: some good opening matches? Maybe you can figure what’s up with Skandalo?
Puebla: Sombra/Lyger setup, more minis.
ACM: maybe the 09/06 matches? maybe the furries?
Perros: The plug at the end of the show said the Haas (/Tiger/Jack vs Hernandez/X-Fly/Crazy) match would air. Maybe the segunda too, as they work from the outside in.
IWRG: Oficials/Capos, relevos main event, more Freelance/Comando Negro
——–
CMLL-TFN (Canada): Assuming they’re just skipping the missed episode, more Warrior vs No Limit, Sombra/Dorada/Volador vs Hijos de Averno and Misterioso vs Maximo
AAA-Peru: Dr. Wagner vs Sabu! A match sure to appear on many end of the year ballots.
Fabián el Gitano, Pegasso, Rey Cometa vs Raziel, Virus, Yoshihashi: There’s been Air Force matches, and better Cancerbero’s matches for that matter. It was interesting for the Yoshihashi screwing up accidental subplot and I’m really into Raziel lately (wait for the Puebla review) but not a lot notable. I don’t totally give up on Yoshihashi as a wrestler – he may do much better with people who speak his language, and he’s in Mexico 2-3 years too soon – but the unfortunate side effect of the ongoing NJPW/CMLL feuds is everyone has to be in spotlight positions to make it important, even when they’re not ready for it.

7) El Mesías vs el Hijo del Perro Aguayo
Poster here. Bring your magnifying glass to read the opener.
We knew most of this previously. What we didn’t know
Electroshock is the mystery person on the Sociedad side, which again seems to indicate the Maniacos joined up though it doesn’t seem much was written about this. Electro makes sense to continue his feud with Heavy Metal, but it does hurt the idea that Cibernetico was going to be on the rudo team. (Now, the idea is he’ll just be turning on the tecnicos again.)
I’ve talked around this before, but just to be clearer – Super Fly can’t actually turn in his match, because no one on his team is going to lose their masks…right? They’re running commercials for the video game with a masked Elegido, he’s probably not losing, and it’d be odd to unmasked the other guys.
Konnan in the 187/FdT match. I guess he would be inevitably and they just want to get his name on the poster. But it still looks odd.
Fabi and Pimpi as title challengers makes perfect sense – all the Alex/Pimpi wackiness actually lead somewhere. With Alex finishing up at some point in the next couple months, a title change wouldn’t be a surprise.
CMLL (TUE) 09/21 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [Fuego en el Ring]
1) Javier Cruz b Nube Roja
2) Metatrón b León Blanco
3) Magnum & Neutrón b Ráfaga & Rey Trueno
4) Gallo, Metal Blanco, Rush DQ Dragón Rojo Jr., Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca
5) La Sombra, Máximo, Toscano DQ Mr. Águila, Terrible, Texano
Tecnicos took the first fall of the main event, Aguila drew a DQ by faking a foul in the second, Sombra tossed his mask to Aguila to draw a DQ in the third.
Dragon Rojo fouled Gallo to lose the match for his team.
CMLL (TUE) 09/21 Arena Mexico [@cmllmagazine, Fuego en el Ring]
1) Bengala & Tigre Blanco CO Camorra & Inquisidor
2) Leono, Sensei, Starman b Bronco, Dr. X, Hooligan
3) Demus 3:16, Skándalo, Virus DQ Ángel de Oro, Delta, Diamante
4) El Alebrije, Psicosis, Ray Mendoza Jr. b Blue Panther, Hijo del Fantasma, Sagrado
5) Brazo de Plata, La Máscara, Strong Man b Atlantis, Felino, Volador Jr.
So, yesterday, I asked where Bronco was. He was in the segunda all along. Always the last place you look.
DQ in tercera was for Skandalo fouling Angel de Oro, then pulled the mask for good measure. Tecnicos swept the match. Mendoza got the better of Panther in the semimain.
CMLL has a press conference on Thursday. We all know what this is about: stripping Stuka Jr. & Fuego of the Arena Coliseo Tag Team Championships for lack of defenses. Frankly, it’s about time (about time I got new jokes.) We know there’s a Pesta Negra vs Invasors hair match, we just don’t know who’s in.
AAA put up a partial lineup for Heroes Inmortales, and it’s just the matches we already knew. They’re still 1-3 matches short (and don’t include the 187 vs Damian/Halloween match set up this weekend ). The one clarified match is the AAA Originals vs Society cage match: La Parka Jr., Octagon, Heavy Metal, Cibernetico vs LA Park, Zorro, Hernandez, ???, with the idea that Cibernetico might actually be the mystery guy for La Sociedad.
AAA is also in the business of answering random asides on this blog (maybe), by explaining the power structure of AAA: Marisela > Joaquin > Dorian. No wonder La Parka Jr and Cibernetico are angry at Joaquin – couldn’t they just put a stop to his son, Konnan and the Legion?
The “La Masa from 100% Lucha is fired” story from yesterday is a storyline. Today, there’s an interview with lead tecnico Vicente Viloni, who thinks La Masa should be brought back for a match. They also have video of this interview, which has a sliver of video of La Masa walking around on the street (in mask and cape), having shoved a woman. In related news, 100% Lucha is celebrating it’s 200th episode next month with a Vincente Viloni vs La Masa main event.
I went thru last weekend’s show just to see this bit for myself, but didn’t see it. Maybe the international feed is on a one week delay or something?
Today’s Heroes del Ring bios: Nicho el Millionario, Psicosis (“Regarded by Lucha Libre experts as the fastest fighter in the sport”; Felino says no – also, Psi is so fast, one minute he’s here, another minute he’s in another company entirely), Vampiro (“El Vampiro is a master of defensive grappling which often renders his opponents unable to mount successful offensive attacks” – ohhhhh that explains it.)
Fuego en el Ring has interviews with Mr. Trueno and Virgo about their middleweight title match. Trueno says Virgo is too small and should be challenging for the minis title, Virgo says he wants to win it for the people
CMLL (MON) 09/27 Arena Puebla
1) Asturiano, Black Tiger, Tigre Rojo Jr. vs Fuerza Chicana, Sauron, Siki Ozama Jr.
2) Bracito de Oro, Fantasy, Shockercito vs Pequeño Universo 2000, Pequeño Violencia, Pierrothito
3) Fabián el Gitano, Rush, Valiente vs Demus 3:16, Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca
4) Máscara Dorada, Místico, Toscano vs Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas, Volador Jr.
5) La Sombra vs Jushin Lyger [CMLL MIDDLE]
The simplest thing to do is to have Lyger lose on his way out. That’s what he did last year (to Ultimo Guerrero and Mistico), so CMLL mostly likely will have Lyger drop the singles title here in Puebla and lose to Dorada on Tuesday. This is one moment where I think CMLL might be moving too fast on things. If Lyger is coming back in ’11, and giving him the Universal Title means that’s the plan, then you might as well make those mountains a little harder to climb. You’re taking the risk that everything will work out the way you plan, but Mascara Dorada shouldn’t beat Lyger in their first singles match and Sombra’s done enough that he doesn’t need this win quite yet.
