AAA #887 (05/30)

taped 04/02/09, aired 05/30/09

This was weird. Obviously, they taped the inbetween promos and wouldn’t do that unless they planned on airing. Every other way the show aired, it didn’t seem like they planned on taping it. Maybe next time they tour the US, they might want to bring someone decent lighting, and perhaps some microphones for the ring so they don’t dub in the same kick/slap noise for every contact on the show. Ridiculously minor league.

On the other hand, I think they did a good job with the big angle for TripleMania. Having this format for the show allowed them to explain things better than it would’ve gone down on TV.

Fabi Apache, Octagoncito, Pimpinela Escarlata vs Decnnis, Mari Apache, Mini Abismo Negro – probably the best match? Decnnis is more interesting as a solo act.
Crazy Boy & Super Fly vs Jack Evans & Teddy Hart – turn taking! Kinda needed to explain the Sagrada bit, not surprised they didn’t.
La Parka Jr. ©, Marco Corleone, Vampiro vs Killer Clown, Psycho Clown ©, Zombie Clown – surprised about how clean this was in the end
Charly Manson & Cibernetico vs Joe Lider & Electroshock – I almost felt pity for sad Cibernetico and then he made Charly wrestle the whole match.
Mesias vs Ozz kick punch kick punch stomp chinlock kick punch punch punch

Sunday/Tuesday GDL results, lineups

Fuego en el Ring has relaunched their website, which meant my secret robot checking the site for new updates broke without me realizing it. Probably should fix that part of the robot.

Anyway, here’s what I’ve missed.

CMLL (SUN) 05/31 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [Fuego en el Ring]
1) Acertijo & Azazel b Thunder Boy & Virgo
2) Casanova & Nube Roja b Asesino Negro & Rafaga
3) Metal Blanco & Neutron b Mr. Trueno & Rey Trueno
4) Blue Panther, Maximo, Mictlan b Black Warrior, Dragon Rojo Jr., Sangre Azteca
5) La Sombra, Mistico, Volador Jr. b Felino, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas

Now you know: Mr. Trueno is the Occidente Middleweight champ. Looking back thru the records, he must’ve defeated Metatron on the 12/30/08 show; no results ever turned up for that show. Neutron’s the one challenging (and soon), not the other way around. Henrik would be thrilled, if he was still here.

This was the show where Mistico did his “give me a bigger push or I’m doing home” interview; Fuego en el Ring has their own version, where Mistico notes he would not go to TNA, because they’re too small time for him. Awesome. Mistico is going to be a natural rudo someday.

CMLL (TUE) 06/02 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [Fuego en el Ring]
1) Milenio b Quazar
2) Hierro b Angel del Mal
3) Metatron b Infierno
4) Lluvia & Zeuxis b La Seductora & Magnifica
5) Dark Angel & Lady Apache b Amapola & Princesa Blanca
6) Terrible & Texano Jr. b Mictlan & Shocker [OCCIDENTE TAG]

Besides the title match fun, the story from the semimain is Lady Apache wants a title shot against…Princesa Blanca. That’s probably the way to go there.

We’ve also discovered, via hi5, that Zeuxis is the correct spelling for the new woman.

While I’m at it, and just noticed they’re up, here’s next week’s lineups:

You may also note their luchador section, freshly updated. In a lot of ways, they’ve got more info than the DF CMLL site.

CMLL (SUN) 06/07 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Molotov & Trueno vs Puma King & Tiger Kid
2) Marcela, Sahori, Zeuxis vs Hiroka, La Nazi, Magnifica
3) Mascara Dorada, Stuka Jr., Valiente vs Euforia, Nosferatu, Virus
4) Blue Panther, Shocker, Volador Jr. vs Atlantis, Dos Caras Jr., Ultimo Guerrero
5) Mistico vs Felino

Most of this was already posted, I think, but the main event is new. The 50th Anniversary of this building is coming up before the end of the month, and there’s been talk the last couple days CMLL might do Mistico vs Felino. I’ve not paid much mind to it, because there didn’t seem to be any build in that direction. That there is build to it, perhaps.

CMLL (TUE) 06/09 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Astaroth vs Skaxy
2) Idolo vs Angel del Mal
3) Exterminador vs Magnum
4) Casanova & Leon Blanco vs Asesino Negro & Dragon
5) Lady Apache, Marcela, Zeuxis vs Magnifica, Princesa Blanca, Princesa Sujei
6) Hector Garza & Maximo vs Dos Caras Jr. & Mephisto

The big issue here is I can’t figure out if Skaxy is supposed to be a rudo or tecnico. In things that actually matter, there’s more Blanca/Apache (and Zeuxis again), plus no Neutron or Mr. Trueno and they usually run 7 matches on Tuesdays. Hmmmm.

IWRG, GDL results, ByL

IWRG (SUN) 05/31 Arena Naucalpan [the Gladiatores]
1) Comando Negro b Sangre Latina
2) Exodia & Galactik b Latino & Mixteco Jr.
3) Avisman, Black Thunder, Tetsuya Bushi b Chico Che, Freelance, Turbo
4) Negro Navarro, Trauma I, Trauma II b Angelico, Ricky Cruzz, Zatura
5) Black Terry, Cerebro Negro, Dr. Cerebro b Fuerza Guerrera, Juventud Guerrera, Veneno

Dr. Cerebro snuck in a foul on Juvi for the final fall. The two teams made lots of challenges after the match.

CMLL (TUE) 06/02 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [SuperLuchas]
6) Terrible & Texano Jr. b Mictlan & Shocker [OCCIDENTE TAG]

Champions retained. Rudos pinned Shocker, but Mictlan managed to beat Texano Jr. He could’ve beat Terrible, but Texano helped him out and Terrible grabbed the ropes on a pin.

TripleMania will cost 219MP ($16.40 US). That’s not too bad. I might pay that much to have someone order it, set up a camera, and put in on justin.tv or wherever to guarantee I’d see it. (Of course, we might get that all for free.)

Rey Bucanero is vowing to unmask Ephesto when he returns. He’s disappointed about being out, losing his title, and losing out on the champions tournament.

A preview of that champs tournament talks Hijo de Fantasma, Hector Garza, and Negro Casas about their chances, credits Mistico with the wrong title.

In addition to Sandokan, Panamaian wrestlers Ventarron, Alma Negra, Chamaco Castro and el Idolo were all honored by the countries’ Institute of Sports.

The Gladiatores has a video interview with Hermano Muerte Jr..

Box Y Lucha’s article list:
Cibernetico talks about starting up with the Bizarros and finishing up with Perros. He’s picking Mesias over Wagner at TripleMania.

box. And here’s the Ras de Lona link, if LLL is still looking for it. I think the next version of WordPress fixes the bookmarks, so maybe I’ll be able to do it too.

AAA-MEX: I say this periodically, but it’s true this week – if there ever was a time to skip a show, this would be a week for it. It’s a no-new-matches filler due to the bird flu, hyping TripleMania.

52MX: Infernales vs Fabian/tag champs + Guerreros vs Shocker/Sagrado/Valiente

FOX/LATV?: More Angels vs Tuareg, and Dos/No Limit vs Trios champs

CMLL: They’ve got two hours (starting at 3), but it’ll be tough to fit in more than the Universal tournament and Dos/No Limit vs Garza/Shocker/Volador.

AAA: Tlaxaca taping, with Jack Evans joining the AAA side.

C3: Shockercito/Mini Damian, Sombra/Mistico/Volador vs Pesta Negra

Puebla: I’m guessing the 2nd match doesn’t air

Shockercito beats Mini Damian, GDL, La Park, La Fiera

CMLL (TUE) 06/02 Arena Mexico [Ovaciones, Avellaneda]
1) Bracito de Oro, Electrico, FantasyPequeno Universo 2000, Pequeno Violencia, Pequeno Warrior
2) Arkangel de la Muerte, Shigeo Okumura, SkandaloHorus, Pegasso, Rey Cometa
3) ShockercitoPequeño Damian 666 [hair]
4) Averno, Ephesto, MephistoBlue Panther, Hijo del Fantasma, Sagrado
5) La Sombra, Mistico, Volador Jr.Felino, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas

Shockercito took the first, Mini Damian the second, and Shockercito the third. The barber is up to 109 haircuts. Mistico got Negro with a casita.

CMLL (SUN) 05/31 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [record]
5) La Sombra, Mistico, Volador Jr. b Felino, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas

Mistico pinned Negro here too.

SuperLuchas has a summary of a couple recent interviews with LA Park. Park says he could’ve gone to WWE, but they wanted him to cut down to 220 lb and he’s at 275. Also, he ran into La Parka Jr. at a gas station in Nuevo Laredo one time, and beat him up.

AAA interviews La Fiera, who is not dead. He says he’s been thought dead at least three times, so he’s thinking it’s his new gimmick. His explanation for why people think he’s dead is he moves around a bit, so when people don’t see him around any more, they think he’s passed. I don’t think that’s all of it.

Dos Caras Jr. has been a rudo for about two months now, so it’s about time for him to form (yet another) rudo group. He’s thinking about forming one named Ola Roja.

Panama’s Sandokan, a long time local rival of Anibal, was honored for his career.

Cotorreando con Box y Lucha has an interview with Super Calo.

SuperLuchas has Santo giving Kato Kung Lee the donations for their sponsored raffle. Not many tickets were sold.

Cesar wonders if anyone but the most hardcore fans actually care about legends shows like the one Luchas 2000 is doing.

CMLL FRAM (THU) 07/16 Arena Mexico [Record]
1) Bam Bam, Mascarita Dorada, Shockercito vs Pequeño Damian 666, Pequeño Warrior, Pierrothito
2) Hiroka, Princesa Blanca, Princesa Sujei vs Dark Angel, Lady Apache, Marcela
3) Blue Panther, Hector Garza, Shocker vs Dos Caras Jr., Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas
4) La Sombra, Mistico, Volador Jr. vs ?, Atlantis, Ultimo Guerrero

Was it the FRAM or the Record show that turned up on TV last year? That question mark in the main surely was Rey Bucanero, which means his injury came as surprise to at least whoever figured out this card. Wonder if they’ll just turn Toscano again and put him back on the Guerreros to fill Rey’s spot.
