03/14-15 Lucha Times

box

AAA-MEX: Zorro/X-Pac, Chessman/Mesias.

FOX/LATV: Women’s match, the never ending battle between Tiger and Angel here, Guerreros vs Panther/Mictlan/Sagrado

52MX: Felino/Skandalo/Vangelis vs Fabian/Leono/Stuka and trios title feud

CMLL: Galavision lists this as 3h45 minute show. That can not possibly be correct. Top 3, unless they start moving around things because they have no TV for next week.

AAA-MEX: Chessman (and Konnan) vs Mesias, DMEX vs HF2

C3: Infernales/Okumura vs Flash/Pegasso/Stuka should be good. Plus unmasked Fire.

CMLL LATV #133 (02/21)

taped 02/15, 02/13, and then 02/15 again

Mini Halloween and Mr. Aguilita will be missed. Halloween’s the better guy, but Aguilita’s the nicer surprise as a random guy on the indies working the gimmick who just got an in because they happened to need that gimmick, but proving he deserved to be there. A successful lucha career is a much about making the right decisions at the right time as it about talent, so here’s hoping they’ve made the right decision by going to the Perros. (Nino de Acero, not going to miss so much.)

I’m always befuddled when I read about Arena Coliseo and Arena Mexico having different fan bases. There are people who swear this is true and I do not dispute them, they surely know better than me, but for a US fan who’d go to shows an hour or more away, just going across town (a very large town, but still) seems a small deal. It’s just a different way of viewing wrestling, I guess, which means there were people probably getting a good look at Bam Bam vs Damian who didn’t see their Coliseo matches last year, and those people got a quick stripped down version to the highspots. The other matches were better (and since you’re reading this online, it’s not too hard to go track them down on my DailyMotion account), but if you hadn’t seen those, this was still pretty good.

Just to be clear, I’m not complaining about the Dos/UG title match not happening because I have any desire to see it. I got my fill of that match here, though I’m confused on how Dos being disinterested definitely being a rudo since he was doing plenty of it here.

Ovaciones skips coverage of this show for an interview with Ultimo Guerrero about next Friday’s match. Need to figure out if EstadioW is still doing broadcasts of the show, now that I think about it. Not a lot new in the interview.

Episode #36 of Ras de Lona has highlights of the minis cage match.

ESPN Deportes previews Rey de Reyes, though with the old lineup. LuchandoLibre looks next month’s Pierroth tribute show.

AAA #873 (02/21)

taped 01/25

The clipping is back, since this is strangely back to a 2h30m show in the US, but it seems like either they’re doing a better job working the match the length it’ll get on TV, or a better job of editing. It’s still troubling in some matches, but they’re at least giving everything six minutes.

It was nice to see the minis on TV, though this wasn’t the best tecnico group. Dorada looked better than he has previous at least. This was really just time killing to set up the Abyss/Abismo stuff but it was still okay.

The whole Vampiro title strip bit came off as lame and rudo-ish, but maybe it works better with people who more have a more unconditional love of Vampiro. My unconditional love seems to be reserved for the Clowns. If we got to bisect AAA, I’d like to the Clowns, Poder del Norte and the Morenos/Billy as my rudos, and the Airforce, Gato and the Apaches for my side. I’d be kinda shot on tecnicos (and make no money) but it’d be great fun.

I got Teddy Hart working with Gronda II. What more could someone want?

Air Force in the semimain! Everything is right in the booking now forever and ever. (Or just for one day.)

The Mesais push is still too much for me, and it’s kinda dumb to spend all that time building up Hermandad just to kill them off here, but AAA’s crowd isn’t rejected it and I suppose that is what is important. I shouldn’t really complain when they bundle guys I’m not interested in together instead of spreading them out around the card.
