AAA Mini Line - 02/21/09 (#873)

Last week: Legion had problems with Mesias and D-Mex. Everyone has problems with Vampiro, but mostly Chessman. Psycho Clowns and Chessman won the belts

Video Package: last week's main event

Parts of a Konnan in-ring promo air thru the show. I guess they were worried we weren't getting enough of him.

Match 1: Mini Psicosis, Mini Abismo Negro ©, Mini Histeria vs Mascarita Divina ©, Mascarita Sagrada, Mini Charly Manson
Gimnasio Lazaro Cardenas de Salamanca, 01/25/09

Winner: rudos
Match Time: 6:32 (2:30+4:02)
Notes: Mini Vipers enter as a group. Mini tecnicos are separate. That we're getting opener intros means they have plenty of time, I'd hope. Mini Charly actually has his belt and is returning from nose surgery. Copetes is ref. Divina is captain? Huh.

Rudos jump the tecnicos, but the tecnicos make their comeback 75 seconds (and maybe one clip in). Mini Charly actually gets hit by the first clothesline, but apparently Mini Histeria's clothesline suck based on the way Mini Charly was able to move instantly out of th way of Mini Abismo's. Mascara Divina unties Mini Abismo's mask for no particular reason , and it accidentally comes off taking a turnbuckle smash. Random break at this point.

Quick mini showcase after the break, everyone in and out quick (and the rudos quite carrying it.) Mini Charly gets Mini Histeria with a double underhook faceslam, but Copetes slow counts that and follow up cradle (though that one wasn't going to work.) Mini Charly ends up with a filler submission on Histeria, but Mini Abismo breaks that, leading to bits with Psicosis, Abismo and the Mascaritas. Both tecnicos get submissions quickly (every thing is sped up), and Black Abyss' run in is given away by a spotlight otherwise randomly shining in the ring. Though I guess it's not clear it's Black Abyss until he chugs from a beer bottle and spits in Sagrada's face, then smashes it on Divina's head. Copetes watches hit, then turns around to argue with Mini Charly. Fine work. Of course, this can't just be the finish – Divina and Abismo yank each other's masks and and up with the opposite ones (though Mini Abismo gets passed another mask by a surely psychic Black Abyss, who just happened to have another one), and Dorada takes Psicosis out to get rid of him. Black Abyss tries to help Mini Abismo, but accidentally kicks him instead of Divina. No problem, Black Abyss just kicks Divina and give him a martinete. Mini Abismo climbs on top for the pin. Copetes turns around and counts. Mini Charly gets in the ring and argues instead of breaking up the pin – that's why they lose right there.

Abismo Negro hits the ring after the match. Black Abyss runs off, so Abismo Negro has a word with his former mini partner. Mini Abismo first tries begging off, then tries hitting Abismo. Neither work well for Mini Abismo, but it does allow Black Abyss to slip back in and uppercut foul Abismo. Rudos and Black Abyss stomp down the tecnico as the doctor tends to Divina. When they get bored with stomping, Abismo Negro pops back up and takes down Black Abyss, so they stomp him down after all and Mini Abismo gets to show off his arm barring skills. Dorada and Mini Charly make the save for Abismo Negro, which has to be a low point. Then again, Abismo pops back up fine.

Another Konnan promo teaser.

Match 2: Psycho Clown ©, Killer Clown, Zombie Clown vs Angel ©, Gato Eveready, Pimpinela
Gimnasio Lazaro Cardenas de Salamanca, 01/25/09

Winner: Clowns
Match Time: (6:01)
Notes: Vampiro shows up before the match, and the second entrance, to take the belts back from the Clowns. As a consequence of the Clowns attacking Vampiro (“I am the law!”), the atómicos titles are now vacant. Vampiro's a little power hungry, huh. Clown are ticked, but opt not to take it out on Vamp for some strange reason. Meanwhile, Arturo Rivera is incredibly annoying trying to start Psycho Circus chants at the most inappropriate moments.

Clowns take out their anger by stomping Gato before he even takes one step on the entrance, then going thru the entrance to grab Pimpi and Angel. Piero is ref and completely in effective. Announcers are completely unphased.

Really obvious clip after the bell – everyone just pops in the ring suddenly. Beatdown continues anyway, and usual stuff there for a couple minutes. Gato gets to start the comeback with a cat in the ropes routine. Killer and Angel work against each a s well as they have, and it feels like they've done it 100 times by now. Pimpinela has new hair and looks slow but knows his sequence. Killer Clown throws a fie looking dropkick. Gato seems to get 5% of the offense during his bit, but gets it and at the exact right time and he's another one who's worked with the Clowns so long that they've got complex bits worked out well, like the Killer powerbomb escape into a splash on Psycho. Killer tosses Gato into plancha on Psycho, but Psycho catches him and rumps him into the crowd. Pimpi kiss Zombie, which knocks Zombie right off the apron. Zombie recovers just in time to prevent Pimpi's Asai. Killer's left with Angel, knocks him down with a clothesline, and jackhammers him for the pin. That's it – Killer Clown is Goldberg! It explains everything. He must've had the tattoo removed and obviously he can't use the spear because everyone else does.

Vignette: Zorro talks to his horse while Teddy and Nikki stand by. I'd totally talk to my invisible horse if these are the options. Anyway, Teddy and Nikki are worried about how Konnan is running things, like working with Hermandad, and want Zorro to lead the group. Zorro's not crazy enough to start a war with Konnan, no matter what Teddy and Nikki thought he said last week. Anyway, Teddy & Nikki go to ZORRO to lead their coup, and Zorro's supposed to be the crazy one? This is the point Zorro seems to make as well, when he's not eying Nikki's breasts. “I'M NOT CRAZY! NO NO NO NO.”

Match 3: Teddy Hart, Zorro ©, Black Abyss vs Super Fly, Gronda II, Abismo Negro ©
Gimnasio Lazaro Cardenas de Salamanca, 01/25/09

Winner: rudos
Match Time: 14:08 (2:33+11:35)
Other Match Notes: Gronda II has switched to a Hell Boy look. Not a homage or anything, he's pretty much wearing the exact mask with the coat. What a strange tecnico trio. Piero is ref

People duck each other, until Zorro distracts Abismo Negro and Black Abyss missile dropkicks him in the back of the head. They pair off Zorro with upper fly (who brawls near the crowd and gets mobbed by female fans while trying to get a chair), which means Teddy Hart and Gronda work together. Lots of punching. Break in the middle of the beatdown.

Super Fly tries to start the comeback as they return from break, but Zorro manages to trip him up and hanging him in the Tree of Woe for dropkicks from the other guys. Surprisingly good teamwork from the rudo trip, including a nice double superkick spot on Abismo Negro to set up a black Abyss moonsault. Gronda sidesteps a Zorro charge and gets the other two with a double clothesline to start the comeback. Abismo comes flying in with a splash on Black Abyss, and Super Fly dropkicks Zorro out and follows immediately with his dive. Gronda is content with clotheslines. That's all he does. Oh, wait, a scoop slam. Somehow, Teddy and Gronda are left in the ring (and not shown) while the others screw around on the outside. Holy crap, Teddy just took a Germans suplex from Gronda! That's all I wanted out of this match. Wasn't a good one, of course. Super Fly gets Nikki, but Zorro gallantly makes the save. After a fair bit of ringside brawling, they get back in the ring – so the Abismos can compare reactions. Black Abyss goes a long way on monkey flips. Abismo is still trying to do headscissors he can't quite do. Zorro tries to put Gronda down with a wristlock, and that doesn't work out well. Gronda fights back, so Zorro puts him in a headlock, and Gronda shoots him off and shoulderblock him. Then, they do the same exact sequence again! I have no idea why they screwed up that they feel they need to do better, it didn't seem like anything, and Zorro has lots of trouble getting Gronda to start running the second time. Teddy helpfully rushes into attack Gronda from behind and grab him, which of course goes bad for the rudos. Also bad for the rudos is all the paint rubbing off from Gronda on them. Teddy saves Zorro form a Gronda suplex, Gronda ducks a double clothesline, rudos ducks a double clothesline and knock Gronda over on the second try. Gronda sidesteps a corner charge again, Teddy spearing the post, and tries to powerbomb Zorro. Zorro escapes that, so Gronda just does another clothesline. Not sure if this has been pointing out, but he's sort of limited. Clip again, into mid Super Fly, Teddy hart face off. Super gets him with a tight headscissors, but ends up backdropped to the floor by Zorro. Zorro wipes his hands clean, and walks right into a Gronda spear. Teddy dropkicks Gronda, who slowly backs up to the ropes as selling. Teddy charge, but gets shoulderblocked down. Gronda shows off his bodyslam, Teddy get up on the ropes and Gronda clotheslines them both out (very obviously edited, someone didn't get over on the first try.) Abismos left in, Abismo Negro loses Black Abyss on the martinete so he goes for the double underhook piledriver, but Nikki slaps him on the back. Abismo is more annoyed then hurt and grabs Nikki for the piledriver instead, but Teddy breaks that up. Abismo goes for him, but eats Teddy's powerbomb backcracker. Teddy adds the Shooting Star Press, and Gronda has to make the save. Zorro decks him with the cane right before another clip.

Abismo has Black Abyss up for the double underhook piledriver, but just drops him free. Huh. Abismo then proceeds to cover, and gets two. Why would you cover? Black Abyss get sup and rushes Abismo, but Abismo takes him down and puts on a wristlock. Black Abyss rolls free, so Abismo Negro dropkicks him out. Abismo looks for a dive, but Zorro lights him up with the cane, casita, one two three.

Zorro celebrates a hard earned win. I guess Abismo was trying to show he would've win if not for the finish, as if only the finish is the fake part. Gronda finds a whole bunch of Gronda fans to celebrate with anyway – they have to be plants. Or at least got free masks.

Video Package: Hermandad

In Ring: I thought we were going to see this all at once, but I guess just in 90 second intervals thru the show. Konnan and Arturo talk, and Vampiro shows up to bring out Roldan. Roldan says Vampiro is the only authority in AAA. Konnan gets mad. Don't care

Backstage: Pirata Morgan meets with Brazo and Decnnis about their match )this involved Brazo chopping Pirata to fire him up.) Pirata talks about their opponents, but Brazo is focused on the traitor Guapito. Should note Brazo's hair is all the way back, and I think this is the first we've seen him since he lost his hair. Guapito shows up to try and make peace, but Decnnis and Pirata have to hold Brazo back and calm him down.

Match 4: Pirata Morgan, El Brazo ©, Decnnis vs Laredo Kid, Aerostar, Elegido ©
Gimnasio Lazaro Cardenas de Salamanca, 01/25/09

Winner: tecnicos (by DQ)
Match Time: 8:38 (2:48+5:50)
Other Match Notes: Air Force duo enters as a pair. A random guy jumps the rail, and salaams Pirata as he walks to the ring, stopping in front of him multiple times and even getting in the ring to do it. No security goes in to stop him, so it must be a plant, but it looks like a guy out of the crowd. Which I guess is the idea. Guapito gets last entrance, which seems like a bad idea when Brazo walks out to kill him. Luckily the rudos get distracted by beating down the tecnicos. Pepe Casas is ref

Brazo yells at the crowd more th he actually hits someone. As fitting the pattern, break early on during the beatdown. There's been more interesting ones this show. Laredo sidestepped a Decnnis boosted up dropkick to start the comeback. Air Force dropkicked the two older tecnicos and did a double 619 on Decnnis. Elegido dropkicked him all the way out, and got Pirata with a tope,. Laredo followed with a Asia onto Decnnis, and Aerostar a springboard inverted tope on Brazo (who had no idea how to catch him.) Edit from there to the Elegido/Pirata Morgan face off, which doesn't last long. Guapito's hanging out on the apron, in a neutral corner. Decnnis/Laredo are in briefly to set up an apron headscissors and a top rope tope con giro. Brazo and Aerostar go for dives, and Aerostar cuts off the rudo with a 619, then launches with his own no hands tope, only to get his partner. Decnnis grabs both of them, and Brazo comes off the apron with a bowling ball dive onto everyone. Elegido and Pirata left in, just long enough for Elegido to get his trunks pulled and Pirata to foul him. Pirata points at the crowd instead of covering, then finally covers. Tropicasas counts, but Guapito stops him and tells him about the foul. Casas believes him and calls the DQ.

Rudos immediately realize they were betrayed, again and try to corner the mini. He smartly tries to run, but Brazo grabs him by the head and rams him into the barricade. Guapito's brought back into the ring, and held down for Brazo splash. Stomp down, then thrown out so Pirata can dump him in the first row. Rudos start to work him over with the chairs, an the tecnicos finally make the save. Elegido's like the last one out, but I guess he's still hurting.

Backstage: Konnan introduces Electroshock introduces to Lider & Nicho and promises Jack and Teddy wont' be a problem if they take care of business. He's bringing them in the main event. Again, Electroshock uses his super powers to find where the camera is when it hasn't existed for the first half of the promo.

Promo: Mesias rants about Hermandad and extreme and who's world it is. He really wants us to check out the new contacts, judging on how he gets 2 inches from the camera.

Promo: Parka and Silver King talk about their opponents.

Match 5: Joe Lider ©, Nicho, Electroshock vs Silver King, La Parka Jr., Mesias ©
Gimnasio Lazaro Cardenas de Salamanca, 01/25/09

Winner: tecnicos
Match Time: 10:15
Other Match Notes: Staggered entrances. Copetes is ref. Mesias is so awesome, the rudo announcers are cheering for him.

Unlike all the other matches, this doesn't start with a beatdown, tecnicos getting their showcases instead. Big obvious clip after parka's sequence (last) with the announcers raving about a Mesias action we didn't see. Rudos never really get a beatdown, but force the match to be even with brawling on the outside for a moment. Mesias is sitting it out during this, and causes the tables to turn. Parka superplexes Electro, Mesias adds a top rope splash, then moves out of the way of Nicho and Lider each trying to hit him with a top rope elbow drop and getting their partner. Despite being hit by three different moves (though a slow, delayed count), Electroshock still kicks out. Or maybe Mesias pulled him up? Park does that with Lider. Clip, and Parka is toping Electro. Nicho manges to knock Mesias down inside with a chair shot, and goes back outside to bring in a table. Nicho unfolds it, but just leaves it on it's side for no reason, except to set himself up to be drop toe hold-ed into it by Mesias. Mesias puts the table on it's legs, places Nicho on top (stomach down) and slowly climbs up, stopping to kick Lider down. Nicho does recover to to fight Mesias on the ropes, but Mesias chokeslams him off thru the table. Mesias stops to pose – crowd does approve. Lider shows up with a light tube, but gets speared and hit in the back with the tube. Mesias covers him for the win.

Konnan back again, who's just there to promise a surprise for Mesias to come, and to remind us Mesias was a rudo for two straight years. Mesias makes sure to get Lider's blood all over him before responding, and during it for the very unhealthy look. Mesias promises Konnan will be next.
