=== CMLL ===

Galavision/Televisa: Part 2 of CMLL Universal Tournament. If you like Tanahashi 3 minutes matches, this may be the show for you. Also, probably Mephisto/Dorada because there aren’t enough singles matches.

FOX: which would put the Terrible/Rush trios here, intersting. I am not at all sure how this will turn out for the Anniversary show. I tend to believe CMLL made a deal to put better matches on the Televisa show in exchange for getting a few more minutes per hour. That’s the way it’s played out, so far, so Terrible/Rush has to be airing there and then it’s a toss up if they want Mistico or Puma/Cometa. I hope they want Mistico. (Also, a women’s trios.)

52MX: build to Negro Casas vs Angel de Oro.

C3: build to Polvora vs Titan.

GDL: Maybe the Smaker/Babaro match, though they’ve skipped over the entire title match. Maybe ciberneticos just didn’t fit timewise? Main is Atlantis/Shocker vs Terrible/UG.

Terra: Angel de Oro vs Negro Casas, the actual match. Also, maybe set up for a Stuka/Fuego vs Namajague/Okumura match next week?

=== Other ===

AAA: After being a bit of a clown show the last couple weekends, AAA should be back on track with part II of TripleMania on both TV and the internet. Their Twitter/Facebook posts have both suggested as such but haven’t outright said it (as is theri way.) No word what the Pintrest site says.

ACM: reruns? I didn’t see a lineup for this past weekend. Hype for COLISEOMANIA perhaps.

IWRG: BT Jr. posted video from last Thursday and last Sunday, which means they weren’t TV tapings, so maybe they’re back to the preeceding Thursday (tonight’s show?) I really don’t know.

Rush vs Tanahashi?, Smaker snatches gold from caveman, Volador & Mr. Niebla get Friday off, LEGEND

CMLL (MON) 08/27/2012 Arena Puebla [El Sol de Puebla, Porra Fresa]
1) Espiritu Maligno & King Jaguar b Black Tiger & Milenium
Rudos took 1/3.
2) Aereo, Niño de Acero, Shockercito DQ Pequeño Black Warrior, Pequeño Nitro, Pequeño Universo 2000
First match in Puebla for Nino de Acero since the knee injury that put him out for years. He did not seem nervous. Tecnicos took 1/3, rudos DQed for excessive violence.
3) Estrellita, Goya Kong, Marcela b Amapola, Princesa Blanca, Princesa Sugheit
Tecnicas took 1/3.
4) Shigeo Okumura b Pegasso [lightning]
Okumura won with his brainbuster. Pegasso was strechered out.
5) Blue Panther, Brazo de Plata, Valiente b Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto
Tecnicos take 2/3.
6) Atlantis, Diamante Azul, Rush DQ Hiroshi Tanahashi, Rey Bucanero, Terrible
Rush tried to jump Terrible, but Bucanero & Terrible got the best of him. Rudos took the first with a Tanahashi frog splash on Diamante Azul and a double armbar on Atlantis. Atlantis won the second with a Atlantida on Tanahashi. In the third, Azul pinned Terrible with a german suplex, Tanahshi beat Azul with the Sling Blade, and Tanahashi fouled Rush to avoid being beat. Rush challenged Tanahashi to a singles match in Puebla.

No Terrible/Tanahashi issues before their match this Friday. No lineup for next week yet, not sure if they’re actually doing Rush vs Tanahashi (which didn’t happen in the G1, they were in separate blocks.)

Luchadors have been regularly taken on a stretcher from Okumura and Kraneo’s brainbusters, and from other neck attack moves. No one seemed to think the Pegasso bit was out of the ordinary, but Pegasso did miss the next day’s show. Pegasso was limping noticeably last Tuesday, the actual injury could be his right knee injury flaring up again.

Attendance was way down. 20% may be optimistic. School has started and it is a 9 pm start, but it still was a huge drop off from the last month.

CMLL (TUE) 08/28/2012 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [Fuego en el Ring]
1) Sádico & Thunder Boy b El Divino & Javier Cruz Jr.
2) Leo & Soberano Jr. b Èvola & Ráfaga
3) Goya Kong, Marcela, Tiffany DQ Amapola, La Comandante, Princesa Blanca
Goya replaced Dark Angel, as expected. Tiffany replaced Lluvia, as not expected. Lluvia missed a show in Monterrey this past Sunday; maybe her knee injury is flaring up? Tiffany turned on her team for and hit ref Edgar for the DQ.
4) Smaker b Barbaro Cavernario [OCCIDENTE MIDDLE]
Decision match for vacant championship. Seconds were Leo & Evola. Barbaro got his knees up on a top rope move to take the second fall, Smaker powerbombed Barbaro for the first, then Smaker submitted Barbaro in the third. Crowd saw it as an upset, maybe because of Barbaro’s recent hair match victories.
5) Atlantis & Shocker DQ Terrible & Último Guerrero
Tecnicos took 2/3. Terrible fouled Shocker, setting up a singles match next week

Fuego has a post match interview with Barbaro. The interesting part isn’t anything the luchador says, but the interviewer strongly saying Barbaro was better than Smacker in the title match (and not quite getting the rudo to say the same.)If people really were surprised Barbaro lost, it’d mean they didn’t know Raziel was originally supposed to go the final, and there really wasn’t any point in taking him out of the match.

Las Luchas showed how Barbaro actually got to the final, picking up with Fuego laying on the ramp and looking hurt after his elimination. Barbaro and Stuka were the last two, and Stuka decimated Barbaro with a tope and was having no problem with him in the ring until Barbaro dodged a dropkick and ref Loco Estrada got hit. Stuka almost immediately got a pin, but the ref called the DQ instead.

CMLL sent out a press release hyping up Friday’s trios tournament. In one of those things that illustrate that everyone who gets these things posts them without really reading them, the teams in the press release don’t exactly match the ones CMLL announced on their website. Mr. Niebla and Volador are out of the tournament – that can’t be a concidence – and Rey Bucanero is illogically on the Peste Negra team, while Black Warrior joins the Invasor squad.

I no longer believe there’s much of a shot of CMLL doing Niebla/Volador later next month. Pulling them from the trios tournament pushed it aside, and it doesn’t actually fit into the Anniversary show right now. Terrible/Rush will be main event, Cometa/Puma will likely be fourth and, based on all the promos, Mistico is surely going to be in the semimain. They’ve just been doing basic Mistico matches since his debut; something like teaming with Atlantis and La Mascara versus Ultimo Guerrero and some rudos fits, but Volador & Niebla really do not. That would leave them in the tercera at best, , not a good place to push something that’s supposed to main event a big show.

LEGEND announced the mystery people for their top two matches on 09/30:

4) Daga, Fenix, Magnus, Turbo vs Heddi Karaoui, Kansuke, Maya Balam, Zumbi [elimination]
5) Monster Clown, Murder Clown, Psycho Clown vs Alex Koslov, Chris Masters, Rocky Romero

Main event should be amusing. Semimain has a wide range of people involved. Kansuke is now Dowki in IWRG, and will probably be Dowki here. Magnus, still training in CMLL gyms and soon to be on CMLL affiliated El Luchador, has been pulled from shows featuring AAA wrestlers and I would not be surprised at all if that happened again here.

Or maybe not, since Magnus is telling people on Twitter that the high attendance for Mistico’s debut was created by honoring all the tickets from the previous week and giving away 4000 more.

Meanwhile, Mistico says the crowd is about 50/50 behind him on most shows, and he’ll be a big focus of El Luchador. This is what he says about his friend Magnus:

Quick transation: Magnus has not matured but he’s still my friend and you’ll see more about us on the show.

IWRG’s Sunday card has changed. The Negro Navarro & Trauma I vs Hijo del Wagner & Hijo de LA Park match is now for the tag titles. Seems like Veneno won’t be back from Japan, because Freyser has been put in his spot in the semimian and Multifacetico takes the open spot in the tercera. Danny Casas, who had a rough time with the Traumas recently, is off the card and Oficial AK47 takes his place.

Angel Azteca Jr., missing from CMLL for the last few months, is listed on a show in Coahuila.

Mil Mascaras says he sleeps five hours a day, runs 3 to five miles, and paints. He also talks about drawing 22,000 to a mask match with El Halcon, with 10,000 more outside the building unable to get tickets.

SuperLuchas has had disturbing issues the last few weeks, so they’ve posted the last two editions online for free. Definitely worth checking out

Mistico tour comes to SLP.

top six stories of the last two weeks

  1. CMLL announced both Rush vs Terrible and Rey Cometa vs Puma King in apuesta matches for the Anniversary show on September 14. It’s their first double apuesta match show since 2003.
  2. The annual Lucha Libre Expo took place. Attendance appeared to be slightly down. The biggest news was the start of a new Perros del Mal vs Bizarros (Cibernetico) feud. Perro and Cibernetico had been sniping on talk shows recently, the AAA Bizarros interfered in the main event of the Perros del Mal show (conveniently allowing them to avoid a finish) and the Perros interfered in the main event of the AAA show. Both fights turned into brawls around the entire expo center.
  3. Mistico continued his debut appearances around Mexico, drawing about over half houses on average. The existence of Mistico has not meant instant sellout, but it may have improved business on these shows slightly. CMLL and Mistico suffered a scare when Mistico slipped on a rope bit in Puebla and fell down clutching his knee in what seemed to be a serious injury, but he was back in action two days later.
  4. Terrible and Tanahashi advanced to the final of the CMLL Universal tournament, which will take place this Friday.
  5. Also on AAA TV taping, their last for four weeks, Zema Ion appeared to tease a title vs title match with Juvi and Samurai del Sol appeared as a surprise wrestler (but was taken out the end of the match.) Vampiro won his first offical AAA match in 3 years, but then lost to Chessman in a surprise quick match, the first time Chessman has actually been able to touch Vampiro in their feud.
  6. AAA’s TV has been out of sorts. Two weekends, a rerun aired on TV while part 1 of TripleMania was released on the internet. This past week, a preview of TripleMania and part 1 of TripleMania aired on TV, while nothing was released on the internet (after Part 2 had been billed.) They should be back on track with part 2 on both TV and the internet this week.

  • The big feud not on CMLL’s Anniversary show, Volador vs Mr. Niebla, saw both men win singles matches. It was more a story of Niebla (and Zacarias) cheating Volador in both matches and getting caught once. Volador still has not beaten Niebla himself.
  • CMLL announced Generacion 2012: rudos Herdoes Jr., Taurus, Guerrero Negro, Espanto Jr. and Akuma, and tecnicos Genesis and Oro Jr.
  • AAA’s Quien Pinta Para La Corona, 2012 version, started with Lady Puma, Hiedra, Los Gemelos Muerte, Perseus, Slayer Boy and Mini Hator advancing to the final.
  • Nitro & Electrico both went down with leg injuries that will keep them out for months.
  • CMLL announced the Leyenda de Azul tournament will be back (at some point)
  • CMLL listed Dark Angel as appearing on their shows, while she’s actually in Japan (and CMLL is aware she’s in Japan.)
  • In IWRG, Chicano turned rudo and won the WWS Welterweight Championship.
  • AAA set up a lot of Twitter accounts for their top wrestlers, none of which are actually being used by the wrestlers. Also, Pintreset.
