the start of a bad day for stuka

Marco Corleone, Máximo, Rush vs Rey Bucanero, Terrible, Tiger: This is the same match they’ve been doing for months, and the one we just had a the big blow off match too (on another show), not to mention the individual feuds, but there were at least a couple new quirks to make it not feel a total repeat. Not something you need to see but something you didn’t mind seeing. Terrible sometimes swipes at técnicos when he knows he’s going to just miss, but I think he knew wrong this time and things spiraled from there. Considering Máximo was having a hard time walking, they did a remarkable smooth job of pulling everything together to make it work.

a great day for Sangre Azteca

Diamante, Sangre Azteca, Stuka Jr. vs Namajague, Pólvora, Shigeo Okumura: If you told me the notice they got off the Sangre’s turn in between the first and second fall, I would tell you that’s about what it looked like. I’m sure they didn’t, and the first fall finish was to help set it up (as well as including Pólvora in the first place), but it came off like a switch had just been flipped. There was no ceremony for the switch flipping, no countdown clock, it was just flipped one fall and that was it. This only works if you know the story they haven’t been actively telling, that Sangre Azteca really needed to be back a rudo. If they did this same thing with, say, Sagrado, it would be completely inexplicable. They did make it work as best as you could with no build, and the post match stuff was great fun (as long you’re not Stuka.)

afro didn’t save him

Diamante Azul, La Sombra, Shocker vs Dragón Rojo Jr., Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas: Dragon Rojo looked much like Dragon Rojo did, so I have no high hopes for this title match. They built it fine for the quickly title match feud, and this was an OK match.
