recap
End of this month’s insta-feud.
Metálico, Molotov, Starman vs Bronco, Inquisidor, Puma King: Puma’s had better days. This was an okay match with more slips than usual. Bronco was more aggressive than usual, if you want something to take from this. It was definitely the second match on an Arena Mexico card.
Diamante, Dragon Lee, Pegasso vs Cancerbero, Loco Max, Raziel: More of a Tuareg match than a Cancerbero match in terms of action. They pushed Raziel/Dragon Lee pretty strongly throughout, and those two would make good long term partners if they went that direction. This wasn’t much.
Ángel Azteca Jr., Blue Panther, Super Porky vs Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto: If Averno is not going anywhere – and who knows if this line will look silly by time this is posted – can they find an excuse to have Averno and Panther have a singles match? Their secret rivalry is almost always really fun when they face of in trios and it’s been a couple years since they’ve gotten to go off on their own. Azteca worked fine as a replacement, though he’s missing any sort of connection to the crowd to permanently move up.
Dragón Rojo Jr. vs Ángel de Oro for the CMLL World Middleweight Championship: By the standards of where these two guys are in their progression, this was a good match. It’s not a match that I’d think to rewatch or will stand out at all by the end of the year and it’s not on the level of Angel de Oro vs Polvora, but it’s a completely worked CMLL current state title match. Right length, good finishes. I’d even argue this was the more enjoyable title match, more than Rush/Terrible, because the crowd was much more invested into it. That’s still a total surprise to me, but a difference maker.
