match 1, match 2, match 3, match 4, match 5
recap

Boring show restricted to one gif.

Texano

Aereo & Pequeño Halcón vs Mercurio & Pequeño Universo 2000: indy level minis match, about what you’d expect from this low on the totem pole. Mercurio exhibits a certain personality; if only he can stop exhibiting three superkicks a match.
Molotov, Starman, Tigre Blanco vs Bronco, Hooligan, Inquisidor: If we were to just the strength of moves solely based on how their teammates react to for them, the two strongest moves are the Skándalo Driver and the Bronco top rope splash.
Ángel Azteca Jr., Mr. Cacao, Pegasso vs Arkángel de la Muerte, Loco Max, Skándalo: a lot of effort to make someone care about Cacoa vs Arkagnel. I do not really, but Arkangel seems to.
Delta, Hijo del Fantasma, Toscano vs El Alebrije, Olímpico, Psicosis: match came closest to actually ending in the beatdown that I’ve ever seen. There was the spot where the rudos goof up and the técnicos suddenly have a chance, but nothing come from the chance, they were just beat anyway. So weird. That’s all I got out of this.
Héctor Garza, La Máscara, Rush vs Averno, Terrible, Texano: ordinary match. People cared about Averno/Mascara, but only because they already cared about Averno/Mascara.

Pantera wins Rey del Ring, bounties, Sin Cara

IWRG (SUN) 11/20/2011 Arena Naucalpan [Estrellas del Ring]
1) Matrix Jr. b Guerrero 2000
two straight falls
2) Gemelo Fantastico I & Gemelo Fantastico II b Astro de Plata & Astro Rey Jr.
two teams appears to be feuding
3) Eragón, Oficial Rayan, Tritón b Avisman, Imposible, Polifacético [lumberjack]
Polifacetico replaced Kortiz, out due to injury.
4) Alan Extreme, Apolo Estrada, Carta Brava Jr., Cuervo, Dr. Cerebro, El Hijo del Diablo, Eterno, Ozz b Centurión, Chico Che, Dinamic Black, Golden Magic, Multifacético, Saruman, Trauma II, Zumbi [Copa Revolucionaria 2011]
Ozz & Cuervo were fouling people for elimintions, but got caught on the third one. Final three where Chico Che, Multifacetico and Apolo Estrada. Multifacetico was the victim of a friendly fire plancha by Chico Che, and Apolo beat Chico for the win.
5) Pantera b Trauma I [Rey del Ring]
Pantera retains the title by taking 2/3.

Card was very changed around from what was announced, which happens with Sunday IWRG cards at times. I didn’t know the traditional celebration of independence was a cibernetico match.

Jeff Jarrett has put a $50,000 (USD – 700,000 MP) bounty on Mesias’ head. This is why Gunner’s coming in, that’s good money for him.

Sin Cara was hurt badly last night on WWE’s PPV – he’ll be out until next summer via knee injury. WWE still wants a latino star, but I wonder if they’ll be looking elsewhere. Neither ex-Mistico or Rey Misterio will be in the ring for a long time. It may be someone who tried out, it may be someone who went to FCW, or it may someone completely out of left field, but I’d guess they’ll be making some move rather soon. I do think Sin Cara’s probably much better off getting this injury in a WWE ring than a Mexican one.

Shocker cheats to win Copa Revolución Mexicana, DTU Gran Alternativa

CMLL (SUN) 11/20/2011 Arena Mexico [CMLL, La Catedral]
1) Bobby Zavala & Camorra b Enrique Vera Jr. & Soberano Jr.
Rudos took 2/3.
2) Apocalipsis, Rayo Tapatío I, Rayo Tapatío II DQ Hombre Bala Jr., Sensei, Super Halcon Jr.
Rudos took 1/3, Halcon being DQed for taking Rayo I’s mask.
3) Black Warrior, Hijo del Fantasma, Sangre Azteca b Euforia, Vangelis, Virus
Tecnicos took 1/3, Sangre & Fantamsa beating Virus & Euforia.
4) Shocker b AtlantisFelinoVolador Jr.La MáscaraRey BucaneroJushin LygerÚltimo GuerreroMetroNegro CasasSuper PorkyTerribleAvernoMáximoTexanoDelta [cibernetico, Copa Revolución Mexicana]
Tecnico vs rudo sides, with the entire teams brawling before the first DQ. Eliminations went Delta (Felino), Texano (Porky), Maximo (Bucanero), Averno (Lyger), Terrible (Shocker), Porky (UG), Negro Casas (Atlantis), Metro (Volador), Lyger & UG with the double elimination, Bucanero (by Mascara but due to a Felino distraction), La Mascara (Felino), Volador (Atlantis), and Felino. That left two tecnicos, Shocker and Atlantis, to face off for the cup. Except Shocker didn’t act much tecnico, sneaking in a heel kick to foul Atlantis for the win.

Aeroboy & Flyer won DTU’s Gran Altenativa – like tournament on a show to celebrate the second year of their school. (Being DTU, this was nine teams, and three way matches.) In the undercard, Tacubo was knocked out by a legdrop; judging from the recap, he looked to be in a very scary way. He recovered and, absurdly, came back in to finish the match. Note to all luchadors: DON’T DO THAT. If you get knocked out, no one actually wants you to come back in the match.

Dragon Rojo says he made a good choice in cornermen for his title match. No argument there. Dragon Rojo notes Ultimo Guerrero was responsible for bringing him to CMLL in the first place. He also explains he spent all week mastering a new submission to help him here, which he’s calling Garras del Dragon (Dragon Claws.)

DTU’s Hormiga says he’s retiring after his mask vs hair match at DTU Anniversary show. Sort of points to a finish, though he’s saying he’ll retire win or lose. He announced this at a press conference to talk about the DTU @ Arena Naucalpan show. I know I’ve seen the full lineup but can not find it now; It was a pretty standard DTU type card with IWRG guys stars. The article mentions the Black Terry vs Onita Santana vs Paranoiko & Lider/Drastick vs Ultimo Gladiador/Aeroboy vs X-Fly/Pesadilla main event.

Estrellas del Ring has an interview with IWRG’s Triton about CMLL’s Triton.

SuperLuchas #439 has Triton, Mascarita Dorada and Io Shirai.

Rob has highlights of 11/26/10 CMLL11/22  & 29/10 Puebla and AAA 10/21/11. Plus, a crazy Fenix dive.

LuchaWorld has Alfredo on this past week’s AAAKrisZ’s news update and LuchaWorld Postcast Episode #4.

CMLL (FRI) 11/18 Arena Mexico [CMLLLa Catedral]
1) Astral & Eléctrico b Pequeño Nitro & Pierrothito
Tecncios win a slight upset.
2) Tiger b Pegasso [lightning]
Rey Bucanero was in Tiger’s corner for this match. Tiger won in 6:32 via pin with his feet on the ropes.
3) Delta, Guerrero Maya Jr., Metro b Shigeo Okumura, Vangelis, Yoshihashi
Tecnicos took 2/3. Metro celebrated apart from his new rivals.
4) Blue Panther, Shocker, Valiente DCOR Felino, Negro Casas, Rey Escorpion
RadioCMLL.com clips make this look like a lot of Panther/Shocker vs Felino/Negro. Those four ended up fighting outside the ring for the countout
5) Dragón Rojo Jr. b Jushin Lyger [CMLL MIDDLE]
Atlantis & Ultimo Guerrero were the seconds. Dragon won with the cavernaria in the first, Lyger took the second. Usual long third fall. UG snuck in a low blow on Lyger, and Dragon Rojo took advantage for the win. Dragon Rojo is the 17th champion. This is his first singles title win, after 6 previous losses.
6) Mr. Niebla, Último Guerrero, Volador Jr. b Atlantis, La Sombra, Máscara Dorada
UG snuck out the back of the Atlantida to cradle Atlantis for the win.

Kcidis celebrates the new champ, though not as much how he did it.

Other news

Ras de Lona has footage of the press conference. Just to clear this up:
purple/gold/green  mask = Titan = Palacio Negro?
white/blue/green = Triton = Metal Blanco? – he also did  a Metal Blanco-ese pose.

Looking back, neither guy has been in Mexico City for most of the month, standard bit for a gimmick change. (May be the same reason Puma & Tiger aren’t around much; they’re waiting for that angle to take place on El Luchador before really getting into to it.) That also means CMLL probably had the new names/faction idea in mind since late October.

Ras de Lona also had Averno wearing sunglasses and a backwards titled baseball cap. He ALMOST pulled it off. Hype for Sunday’s Cibernetico and the bodybuilding contest. They showed Nosferatu’s injury, and it was the clumsiest thing you’ve ever seen – he was simply standing on the top rope and slipped off. You may see this on the website. Zayco’s injury was a lot less comedic – he got spiked right on his head taking the ‘rana and was completely out. Very scary looking, good to hear he got out of the hospital. Angel de Plata also appeared, and he should be back soon.

Hector Garza was mentioned, but only in passing about those who went to the Tokyo Dome for CMLL last year. If you only follow lucha libre from TV, you have no idea anything is up.

If I’m reading this right, Sahori is skipping CMLL and headed to REINA for three months. (Ras de Lona says the same.) It’s just mentioned in passing. REINA is quickly catching up to IWL as the most peculiar promotion. Also, Valiente is going to make sure he has two sets of gear packed separate, just in case his luggage gets lost again.

El Santo & Demon’s show in El Paso did not draw especially well. El Cobarde tried to announce his retirement after the semimain, but may do one more tag match with Cobarde Jr.

6) Blue Panther, La Sombra, Shocker vs Felino, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas

Hmmm, Shocker/Panther vs Felino/Negro again.

Mascara Dorada in the fourth match is a bit low, but I think someone went mad scientist and wanted to see tricks that trio of flying tecnicos could pull off together.

Dorada/Shocker vs Dragon/UG, Triton/Titan already revealed

CMLL (MON) 11/14/2011 Arena Puebla [Es Imagen (final), Es Imagen (semifinal), Porra Fresa]
1) Policeman & Siki Ozama Jr. b Stigma & Tigre Rojo Jr.

5) Averno, Mephisto, Último Guerrero b Hijo del Fantasma, La Máscara, Shocker
Rudos took 1/3, UG using the ropes to pin Shocker. Shocker demanded a singles match, UG just made fun of Shocker.
6) Máscara Dorada b Dragón Rojo Jr.
Dorada took falls 2/3. Ultimo Guerrero rushed the ring to attack Dorada after the match, with Shocker making the save. That sets up a tag title match next week.

IWRG (THU) 11/17/2011 Arena Naucalpan [Black Terry Jr. (flickr), The Gladiatores]
1) Matrix Jr. & Sky Ángel b Galáctico Infernal & Guerrero 2000

2) Alan Extreme & Imposible b Centurión & Eragón
3) Bugambilia del Norte, Dinamic Black, Tritón DQ Carta Brava Jr., Comando Negro, Eterno
Straight falls. Bugambilia bled again, thanks to Eterno. Eterno also fouled Bugambilia in straight falls.
4) Apolo Estrada Jr., Black Terry, Hijo de Pirata Morgan b Golden Magic, Pantera, Súper Nova
Rudos took 2/3. Hijo de Pirata beat Pantera in a battle of captains off the win.
5) Bestia 666, Damián 666, X-Fly DQ Dr. Cerebro, Espíritu, Silver King
Perros took fall 1, Opposition took fall 2, X-Fly took out the ref by accident in the third. Perros fouled the AAA/IWRG team, faked taking fouls, and drew the DQ for the win.

One of the big discussions coming out of yesterday’s CMLL press conference is the identities of Shocker’s new proteges, Triton and Titan. We’re not even quite sure which is which at this point, but people have noticed the guy kneeling in the photo looks like Palacio Negro. That would suggest his partner is Metal Blanco. CMLL’s Gaceta recap of the bit mentions Titan & Triton are from Guadalajara, and Fuego en el Ring, who would know, is pretty sure they’re Palacio and Metal and wonders what this means for their Occidente titles. It would take about one fall to confirm those two, so we should know quickly. As of now, the only show Palacio & Metal are listed on is a SLP show next month. I don’t think there’s really an advantage to changing the names – they’re probably going to be in the same position, and people had a favorable opinion of those guys using their old names.

The IWRG Triton is not very happy about all of this. The Gladiatores interviewed him as part of their Arena Naucalpan radio coverage. Triton said he’d been using the name for five years and has licensed the name in three states, including DF. If that’s true, the lucha commission should be stepping in, though they usually have not in these cases. The IWRG Triton would not be the first one; Pantera used that name in CMLL in 1993,

CMLL has audio of the Shocker/Altantis faction arguing and the Sin Piedad main event signing. Negro Casas says he’ll be in Felino’s corner, with the implication Peste Negra have a scheme in the works

NJPW’s article of the CMLL press conference goes over the list of participants, focusing on the new comers. Rush is described as “handsome guy”. That’s pretty much his gimmick. Misterioso didn’t make the press conference. NJPW doesn’t mention the guys on the Toyko Dome show. They usually like to save that for one big announcement, which won’t be happening until after their December PPV. Tickets go on sale on 12/14.

Kaiser Sports has the challenges between Lyger and Dragon Rojo from yesterday’s press conference. What stuck out to me is just at the bottom of each picture – did CMLL buy a giant Copa to give away for Sunday’s cibernetico? Sure looks like it.

AAA’s announced a new TV taping in Toluca in 12/01. That would air after Guerra de Titanes, but take two place weeks before it. This might mean the Campeche taping has been canceled, since that’d be two lame duck tapings.

Cassandra, the CMLL luchadora who’s turned up on a single Arena Coliseo Guadalajara show so far, is listed as appearing on Ayumi’s show in Japan next Sunday. It’s a lot easier for the women to get their first trip to Japan than the men. It also occurs to me: Ayumi’s show is called Never Give Up, and she talks about facing Amapola and losing but Never Giving Up and challenging again…except now Marcela is the champ. They’ve shifted it so it’s about never giving up trying to win the title, but it sure reads like the plan was for Ayumi vs Amapola. Could be Amapola didn’t want to go to Japan to lose, could be someone in CMLL was fine with Ayumi winning the title but thought one of their own should get to end Amapola’s streak.

Fuerza Guerrera is starting his own indy promotion with the usual names. The SuperLuchas post notes Fuerza thinks all the lucha the TV is a pure clown show, so he will have such non-clowns as Juvi, Emilio Charles, Skayde, Histeria, the other Mosco de la Merced, Los Paysos, Super Muneco and Super Raton. Wait a second…

Black Terry Jr. has been posting the IWRG/DTU cibernetico over the last few days: part five is now up.

Rob has highlights of 11/19/10 CMLL.

3) Zumbi vs ?
4) Lolita vs Diana La Cazadora
5) Trauma I vs Trauma II, Black Terry, Atomic Boy, Judas el Traidor, Bugambilia del Norte, Negro Navarro, Terremoto Negro [tournament]

That’s a one night single elimination tournament; the three previously not announced were Judas, Terremoto, and Bugambilia. It’s a bit of a drop off, but there’s probably going to be some good matches there. MT has an interview with opening wrestler Angel del Misterio, who says he was invited by Black Mamba.

CMLL (SAT) 12/10/2011 Arena Lopez Mateos
***Exodia Benefit Show***
1) Dalis la Caribeña, Lluvia, Marcela vs Amapola, Princesa Blanca, Princesa Sugheit
2) Delta, Metro, Valiente vs El Alebrije, Histeria II, Psicosis
3) Brazo de Oro, Brazo de Plata, Brazo de Platino, Máximo vs Felino, Negro Casas, Puma King, Tiger
4) La Máscara, La Sombra, Máscara Dorada vs Averno, Mephisto, Volador Jr.
5) Atlantis, Rush, Shocker vs Mr. Niebla, Rey Bucanero, Último Guerrero

Benefit/Homage for Olimpico’s son, who badly broke his leg in early 2010 in an IWRG match, less than a year into his career. It was said soon after Exodia would never be able to wrestle again. He was using a cane for a long time, though I think he was without it the last time we saw him (when Olimpico lost his mask.) Exodia will unmask on this show and officially retire. Pretty good show, better than many an Arena Mexico lineup. Olimpico and his family seem well liked by the rest of CMLL.

As much as CMLL likes to use Atlantis and Bucanero and other top guys in it’s push to get public assistance, they really should pushing guys like Exodia and Nino de Acero to the front. Those are the guys being left behind without help like this.
