Garza’s last match (so far), and a big match between two people trying to replace him.
Blue Panther, Héctor Garza, Super Porky vs Averno, Mephisto, Volador Jr.: This was about as dominant win as rudos get in three falls. It was just on Super Porky. If you only watch lucha libre TV, you probably would not notice anything was going on. Hector Garza did Hector Garza things, just as usual. He did them while not wearing a CMLL logo, and bolting from the ring after the match as if he had to get cross town quick, but otherwise it was a usual match.
Rush vs Terrible for the CMLL World Light Heavyweight Championship: This was a fine enough match given what we’ve though of the these two guys to this point, but nothing really special about it. It was competent, it was good in parts, and it might have been better in front of a stronger crowd, but it didn’t come off as particularly dramatic or exciting. They did a lot of near falls, but they didn’t a lot of near falls that felt like they were actually going to end the match; the only time it seemed like Terrible was actually about to win was when he went for the top rope splash. Both guys tried hard and gave a lot of themselves in this match, I have no problem with the effort.
