2011 AAA TV Chart
Mexico: 09/25

AAA’s website implies the mystery men will be revealed on this week’s AAA TV. More importantly, they say AAA TV will actually air on Saturday at 4pm this week. I haven’t seen that elsewhere, but they should now.

This will be the 15th meeting of the Psycho Circus and the Perros del Mal on TV in the last year.

Jack vs Escoria kind of telegraphs what’s going down in the Parka/Jack vs Billy/Escoria match in Silao. They’re doing fun things with Jack, I am not complaining.

I know comments wanted the return of Fabi Apache to TV, and so there she is. I just want to know who wanted the return of Octagon, so I can ban you.

First Elegido TV match since June 9th.

Edit: AAA & TNA have announced the mystery wrestlers are Brutus Magnus and Abyss.

CMLL (MON) 09/05/2011 Arena Puebla [Porra Fresa Puebla]
Attendance: 4000
1) Asturiano, Black Tiger Jr., Tigre Rojo b Ares, Sauron, Siki Ozama Jr.
Siki Osama Jr. replaced Arissma (and Black Tiger Jr. in for Sr., but I may have had that wrong.) Rudos took 2/3 in an excellent match. Tigre Rojo’s rudo turn seems to be over here.
2) Pequeño Halcón, Shockercito, Último Dragoncito b Mercurio, Pequeño Olímpico, Pequeño Universo 2000
Tecnicos took 1/3. Best Halcon match in this building so far.
3) Dragon Lee, Fuego, Stuka Jr. DQ Loco Max, Nitro, Skándalo
Tecnicos took 2/3, Loco Max fouling Dragon Lee.
4) Averno, Hiroshi Tanahashi, Mephisto b Blue Panther, La Máscara, Máscara Dorada
Rudos took 1/3, Tanahashi beating Panther for the win. Averno took Mascara’s mask and made a break for it after the match.
5) Último Guerrero b Atlantis
Ultimo attacked Atlantis as he was posing before the match. Sounds like a UG match. He took 1/3, stealing Atlantis’ mask in the third for the win.

IWRG (THU) 09/08 Arena Naucalpan [Black Terry Jr. (flickr), The Gladiatores]
1) Keshin Black, King Drako, Picudo Jr. b Bugambilia del Norte, Diva Salvaje, Miss Gaviota
Keshin Black replaced Polifacetico.
2) Apolo Estrada Jr., Bestia 666, Centurión, Dr. Cerebro, Eterno, Golden Magic, Multifacético, Trauma II b Alan Extreme, Astro de Plata Jr., Astro Rey Jr., Carta Brava Jr., Dinamic Black, Polifacético, Saruman, Tritón [IWRG IC WELTER, battle royal]
Eterno, Trauma II, Polifacetico in, Impossible, Dragon Fly, Avisman out. Battle royal to determine the eight guys immediately advancing to the elimination tournament.
3) Dr. Cerebro b Eterno [IWRG IC WELTER, quarterfinal]
4) Bestia 666 b Centurión [IWRG IC WELTER, quarterfinal]
5) Apolo Estrada Jr. b Multifacético [IWRG IC WELTER, quarterfinal]
6) Golden Magic b Trauma II [IWRG IC WELTER, quarterfinal]
7) Bestia 666 b Dr. Cerebro [IWRG IC WELTER, semifinal]
8) Golden Magic b Apolo Estrada Jr. [IWRG IC WELTER, semifinal]
9) Golden Magic b Bestia 666 [IWRG IC WELTER, final]
10) Cien Caras Jr., Hijo de Máscara Año 2000, Máscara Año 2000 Jr. b Kortiz, Ray Mendoza Jr., Villano IV
First time Cien Caras Jr. has been here since 2008. Dinamitas won with Fresero’s help.

Black Terry Jr. has already posted video of two first round matches (see links), which means this is probably not airing on TV. Didn’t think of this last night, but they’re surely airing the Dos Caras show (the one from Sunday that I never posted results for because it seems like they restricted the websites from covering the show, which seems kind of rude.)

Other News

Today’s second September Arena Mexico show includes TRT vs Peste Negra and Mr. Aguila vs Maximo in a lighting match, but the biggest event is the second block of the Universal Tournament. With Sombra winning last week, it’s likely a rudo will come out of this block. Dragon Rojo and Virus are just here to be fodder, which leaves three reasonable candidates

Ultimo Guerrero
Pro: is Ultimo Guerrero, won the first Universal tournament, could get screwed up by Atlantis in the final
Con: could get screwed up by Atlantis this week, that’s really more important this tournament

Averno
Pro: has been the top pushed rudo since he lost his mask,
Con: inevitably will have to face La Mascara, about time for that to go wrong with him, the whole WWE thiing

Tanahashi
Pro: playing pseudo-Lyger when Sombra is due a win over actual Lyger and probably won’t otherwise get it since Lyger is going to be a tecnico; people from Japan tend to win a lot here
Con: CMLL appears to have a secret policy to do nothing at all with the NJPW guys they bring in this year; politics (though I think he’s losing to Nakamura anyway.)

Still presuming Tanahashi, though I think Sombra/Averno is actually the best final for the stories they’ve been telling this summer. As far as I can tell, the only time those two have met in a singles match is in a previous early round Universal tournament; they’ve never had the big three fall match without a couple tag partners.

There was a tweet out last night saying CMLL will hold a press conference on Tuesday. Haven’t seen it said elsewhere and unfamiliar with that site, but it seems about right.

If CMLL really wants the fans to buy in the concept of a month full of Anniversary shows, maybe they shouldn’t have had those promos with all the wrestlers hyping it up as single Anniversary event (singular) they’ve been sacrificing for, and maybe they shouldn’t put those promos on the website now. No one’s buying this as five straight must-see weeks, and I’d expect an average attendance tonight. It should pick up next week with the final Universal match (since that’ll be a pretty big main event regardless of who’s in it.)

Rob has highlights from mid July 1999 AAA.

Lineups

CMLL (TUE) 09/13/2011 Arena Mexico
1) Bengala & Freesbe vs Camorra & Ramstein
2) Fantasy, Mini Maximo, Shockercito vs Mercurio, Pequeño Nitro, Pequeño Olímpico
3) Dragon Lee, Metal Blanco, Palacio Negro vs Shigeo Okumura, Vangelis, Yoshihashi
4) Ángel de Oro, Diamante, Rush vs Olímpico, Psicosis, Volador Jr.
5) Atlantis, Black Warrior, Super Porky vs Dragón Rojo Jr., Hiroshi Tanahashi, Último Guerrero

Should be getting a MEX TRIOS title match 09/20 (more likely) or 09/27. I wish Alebrije was on the team instead of Olimpico, because I think the Invasors might actually win this one. There’s no need to keep the titles on this team once the Universal Tournament is over, and they’ve not really had a lot of interest in them as a trio.

Tanahashi vs Porky should be something.

The NFL returns this week. It airs on Televisa on Sundays leading into AAA, so that show may start late for the next few months. It also airs on Fox Sports Espanol, which means the Sunday reruns are off until the new year.

52MX: They’ve been really good about airing the important matches here. This week will test it, because the important matches are the 2nd (minis) and 3rd (women) matches; the semimain and main events are bigger star power but no storyline.

LATV: Rush vs Mr. Aguila! Dragon Lee/Magnus vs Puma/Tiger too.

TF: I have no idea. Maybe the 08/09 episode, maybe they back up again.

—————

CMLL: based on what they’ve been airing, this should be the Universal block, the lighting match, and Felino being honored and getting into shenanigans.

AAA: Perro Aguayo Jr. returns, does Perro Aguayo things. Usual two good openers and a tag title match good.

FOX: The Guerreros/Justice title match should end up here, and likely the Dragon Lee/Pegasso/Cometa vs Misterioso/Okumura/Yoshihashi

C3: Blanca/Marcela, plus the Invasors for Mex Trios champs.

GDL: swing match is a women’s tag, but Estrellita is involved (Tim). Minis are sure to make it.

Puebla: Atlantis vs Ultimo Guerrero

ACM: ???

Perros: the remaining matches from the XPW/Perro show (Sexi Star vs Lolita, I think.)

IWRG: The welterweight title tournament, plus Villanos vs Jr. Dinamitas.

GDL, PWR, Mesias/Sting

CMLL (TUE) 09/06/2011 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [Fuego en el Ring]
1) El Divino & Javier Cruz Jr. b Ángel del Mal & Relampago
2) León Blanco b Gran Kenut
These two were ripping masks.
3) Estrellita & Goya Kong b Amapola & Princesa Sugheit
Crowd was very behind Goya Kong.
4) Astral & Bam Bam DQ Demus 3:16 & Pierrothito
Pierrothito fouled Bam Bam for the DQ. Rematch next week.
5) Hiroshi Tanahashi, Terrible, Texano b Black Warrior, Héctor Garza, La Sombra
Rudos took 2/3.

I have not seen him yet, but there are people complaining about Tanahashi’s effort (or lack thereof) this trip thru. We’ll see how it goes on Friday.

Other News

Lady Apache is working on the September 18th PWR show. Princesa Sugheit is not, so it’s really going to be awkward when Sugheit keeps the women’s title (obviously.)

Mesias wants to face Sting at Heroes Inmoratales. That would probably go OK, though it leaves open who’d get the title match (unless Wagner is just getting title shots until he wins.)

SuperLuchas has video of Vampiro on a TV show talking about extraterrestrials. You know, I would not be surprised if Vampiro was a extraterrestrial. This has nothing to do with this clip, but there’s a weird history rewriting going on message boards, with Sting coming to AAA, that Sting vs Vampiro was a some really good feud. I watched it at the time, it was actually a very not good feud, and I’m pretty sure both guys would totally agree if asked (and blame each other.) Maybe it’s something that looks better in highlight videos on YouTube, but the whole thing was bad TV at time.

AAA’s added Velvet Sky to the list of TNA people appearing soon, this one specifically at Heroes Inmortales.

Rob posted video of Eddy Guerrero’s return to AAA (for one match) in 1996: part 1, part 2.

LuchaWorld points out Santo & El Dandy.

3) Astral & Bam Bam vs Demus 3:16 & Pierrothito

Esfinge? Minis rematch.

Blanca keeps his title, Volador defeats Rush, AAA/TNA

CMLL (TUE) 09/06/2011 Arena Mexico [CMLL, Record]
***Fan Apperciation Day, September (TUE)***
1) Leono & Starman b Bobby Zavala & Disturbio
2) Fuego, Metal Blanco, Palacio Negro DQ Misterioso Jr., Shigeo Okumura, Yoshihashi
Yoshihashi replaced the long gone Dr. X. Tecnicos took 2/3. Okumura fouled Palacio Negro for the DQ.
3) Princesa Blanca b Marcela [MEX WOMEN]
Blanca kept the title, taking 1/3 in a good match.
4) Atlantis, Delta, Guerrero Maya Jr. b Blue Panther, Dragon Lee, Puma King
Blue Panther replaced Shocker and his team worked as ruods, but still lost. Tecnicos took 1/3.
5) Olímpico, Psicosis, Volador Jr. b Ángel de Oro, Diamante, Rush
First time the national trios champions have teamed up since their last title defense in May, and they appear right back in a feud. Volador snuck in a foul (with Psicosis distracting the ref) to beat Rush.

Other News

Kcidis illustrates the Felino vs Bucanero rivalry.

AAA is now saying TNA’s British Invasion (Doug Williams and Brutus Magnus) are coming. I’d guess they’re Jack & Tiger’s next challenge for Hereos Inmortales, but AAA is teasing two TNA wrestlers at the Puebla taping.

Tickets are on sale for Heroes Inmortales, from 120 to 1080 MX Pesos ($10 to $87), which is a bit higher than usual for big shows.

IWL’s posted the very excellent Daga/Suicida match from their last iPPV on YouTube. Alfredo helpfully collected it all in one post.

Box Y Lucha posted many more video interviews: a bunch of people from Veracruz, Atomic Star & Farkor, Tony Cirio Jr., Black Fire & Aniquilador, Colombiano & Rencor Caribeno, Nino de Ebano and kid luchadors.

LuchaWorld also has KrisZ’s news update.

top six stories of the last two weeks

  1. CMLL seems headed to a hair match with Hector Garza, Blue Panther, Rush, Terrible, Texano, Rey Bucanero, Negro Casas, Felino and others. They still haven’t announced it, or announced a date for the anniversary show.
  2. La Sombra won the first block of CMLL Universal Tournament. He’s probably facing Tanahashi, Ultimo Guerrero or Averno next week.
  3. in their first big meetings since splitting, Ultimo Guerrero & Dragon Rojo kept the tag titles over Atlantis & Guerrero Maya, and UG defeated Atlantis in a singles match in Puebla
  4. Perro Jr. returned to AAA (again), losing to Wagner by DQ and challenging Wagner and the Payasos to apuesta matches
  5. AAA announced Sting, Rosita, and the British Invasion are all coming in, probably all for Heroes Inmortales
  6. Rey Bucanero may have stolen Tiger (Kid) from Felino, and Felino fouled Bucanero in the resulting singles match.
