2011 AAA TV Chart
Mexico: 08/28, 09/04?

Six matches usually means two weeks of TV, and they have plenty of weeks to fill before Heroes Inmortales. On the other hand, this being a double taping means it might be the only taping in August (which would be odd), and they’ve left that opener on the cutting room floor before. Hope it airs this time, somewhere.

Again, there’s so much time before the next major show that this doesn’t hint anything towards the future. The Manaicos/psuedo-anti-Maniacos feud continues in the semimain. The Reina Pimpinela story continues in the second match. And the main event should build off Zorro costing Park the title at Verano de Escandalo (and certaintly be a brawl.)

No idea why the Psychos are in a lumberjack match – does that even work with them? – but at least it keeps them from facing the Perros. The other Militia match, with Jack back, should be pretty good, and you can say that about half the card.

(No Cibernetico, no Parka, no Jarrett, no other TNA people, no problem!)

Nosferatu, Sin Cara, Perros, spoiler for Friday’s show

CMLL (TUE) 08/09/2011 Arena Mexico [CMLL, Record]
1) Bengala & Camaleón b Apocalipsis & Camorra
2) Arkángel de la Muerte, Bronco, Euforia b Hombre Bala Jr., Molotov, Sensei
Nosferatu exists! I wonder if he just got Dr. X’s spot. First match here since February 1st, and a win at that. He’s still kind of plumb.
3) Ángel de Plata, Metro, Sagrado b Hijo del Signo, Raziel, Virus
Tecnicos took 2/3, Sagrado winning with el Cristo
4) Ángel de Oro, La Máscara, Shocker b Atlantis, Dragón Rojo Jr., Pólvora
5) Mr. Águila, Psicosis, Volador Jr. b Máscara Dorada, Rush, Super Porky
Aguila surprisingly beat Rush.

Other News

Video and photos seem to indicate it was Hunico under the Sin Cara mask last night at the SmackDown tapings, and that most fans did not notice.

Last night’s Tercera Caida included a skit from the Perros del Mal show, where Violento Jack got Dr. X-Treme to work the DTU show this weekend, facing Samurai del Sol and Peligro in a three way.

The cover of Box Y Lucha #3038 has Damian saying the Perros have not talked to CMLL.

Zumbido wants a hair match with Tony Rivera before the end of the year, to avenge his 2004 loss. Zumbido also says he regrets leaving CMLL, feeling he was one of Paco Alonso’s favorites, but now the people in charge have personal issues with him and won’t let him back.

Rob has highlights of 08/14/92 AAA, including Rey Misterio’s first AAA mask match

CMLL in NJPW

08/10

3) Satoshi Kojima [8] b La Sombra [4] (9:25, lariat)
4) Hiroyoshi Tenzan [4] b Strong Man [0] (7:18, anaconda vince)

Strong Man STILL can’t get a win. He’s got MVP, Minoru Suzuki and Hirooki Goto left, and I don’t like his chances in any of those. On the other hand, the Tercera Caida crew almost lost it last night when they played the Strong Man “I’m ANGRY!” promo after the Sombra loss, so he’s clearly contributing to the overall presentation.

Lineups

Sounds like Toryumon Mexico is running this weekend, though I don’t know the card (usual.) On the same note, CMLL TV showed highlights from a sponsored show in Arena Mexico a couple weekends ago; I’ve found a partial poster, but the only info I have is Lady Apache won a cibernetico and got a bigger trophy than any of  the ‘real’ CMLL tournaments winners have received.

CMLL (SUN) 08/14/2011 Arena Coliseo Monterrey
1) Mensajero del Diablo, Super Vaquero, Tormenta Negra vs Gitano del Norte, Nuba del Futuro, Orion
2) Doverman & Sepuluturero vs Gavilan Negro & Kikapoo Jr.
3) Felino, Guerrero Negro, Halcon Negro vs Ángel de Oro, Ángel Dorado, Estrella del Oriente

Just when you thought it was safe to set foot in Monterrey, the Guerrero Negro vs Estrella del Oriente feud is back. Picture has the older, unmasked Halcon Negro. I expect comedy Felino.

The Tuesday show here has the Hector Garza vs Konnan Big vs Rey Hechicero vs Big Neurosis four way, though maybe not exactly that lineup since Big Neurosis is suspended for 28 days. I wish Roberto would use Twitter correctly so I could read more about this.

CMLL (TUE) 08/16/2011 Arena Queretaro
1) Rey Aztlan & Verdugo Blanco vs Fire Figther & Super Gallo
2) Dragon de Oriente I & Dragon de Oriente II vs Rayo Tapatío I & Rayo Tapatío II
3) Delta & Guerrero Maya Jr. vs Drabek I & Drabek II
4) Felino & Pólvora vs Máscara Dorada & Sangre Azteca
5) Último Guerrero vs Mr. Niebla [CMLL HEAVY]

That sure seems to give away a result for Friday’s CMLL show.

top six stories in the last two weeks

  1. X-Fly lost his hair in the Psycho vs Perros main event cage match of Verano de Escandalo.
  2. Other matches saw Jeff Jarrett retain a title, Pimpi win the women’s title, and Chessman win the Monster’s Ball after Nicho returned again to attack Joe Lider. Show drew 9,000.
  3. The role of Sin Cara is now being played by Incognito. I believe this counts as “dramatic irony”. Maybe Mistico will be back, maybe he will not.
  4. Fresh of winning the trios title, Averno defeated La Mascara again to keep the NWA Middleweight championship, though this one involved a little cheating.
  5. Rush defeated Yoshihashi for his hair. This was less surprising than the X-Fly loss.
  6. Hector Garza turned on everyone, is generally a jerk.

Other News

  • Mr. Niebla won the Leyenda de Azul, which involved the son of Blue Demon but not Blue Demon Jr.
  • Lady Apache returned to CMLL
  • Dr. X left CMLL. Most lucha media treated this like this was about the #4 story.
  • CMLL announced a minis apuesta tournament for 08/21
  • Atlantis & Ultimo Guerrero continue to talk to the media as if they’re about to turn on each other, and then not really do anything in the ring.
  • Other people keeping their titles: Amapola, Morgan
  • IWL held their second iPPV, with a good Daga/Suicida match and lots of complicated finishes.
  • IWRG debuted New Temerarios
  • Elsewhere in IWRG, Dr. Cerbero turned on Black Terry
  • Sombra has fared well in the G1, at least compared to poor Strong Man.
  • Lucha Libre USA continues to exist.
  • Jack & Aero did not win the NOAH Juniors Tournament, but did win the “Technique Prize”
  • Atlantis & Rey Bucanero made a random cameo in CHIKARA

recap

La Máscara, La Sombra, Máscara Dorada vs Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto for the CMLL World Trios Championship: Really really good. I think the March version of this match may actually be technically better, but this one felt like it meant so much more. The post match joyful rudo celebration added a lot to it; this was Averno celebrating like he just proved the mask match was a fluke all along, except he wasn’t totally sure until this match. Very good build to the finish, and the first two falls felt like they were worth existing. There were some timing issues on pinfalls and such, but a minor complain in a lot off good. Definitely worth watching
