MW (SAT) 02/19/2011 Hard Rock Casino, Albuquerque, New Mexico [PWTorch <- thanks!]
1) Oriental & Tinieblas Jr. DQ Charly Malice & Rocky Romero the unknown masked men who’d been helping Oriental & Tinieblas on the last taping this time ran in to attack Oriental (who got the win by DQ)
2) Marco Corleone & Shane Helms b Hijo del Lizmark & Sydistiko Helms chokeslammed Sydistiko for the win. Marco challenged Lizmark to a title match.
3) Magno & Súper Nova b Petey Williams & RJ Brewer [Ladder] May not have been an offical match. Brewer and Williams had previously stolen the tecnicos masks, put them in a bag, and intended to burn them. the bag was suspended from the ceiling, so a ladder match broke out. Presumbably Nova & Magno had other masks for this match. Tecnicos got the bag, only to find a red white blue pinata inside.
4) LA Park b Octagoncito, Chi Chi, Ultimo Dragoncito (?), Tigresa Caliente, Mascarita Dorada, Pequeño Halloween, Mini Park, ODB, Mini Super Raton (?) [rumble] royal rumble match of minis, exoticos, women, and LA Park. First seven were in befoer any elimiantions. LA Park eliminated Chi Chi to win. Mystery minis were in a light blue Ultimo Dragon outfit (which sounds like the CMLL guy) and mouse ears (maybe Baby Rabbit?)
5) Shane Helms DQ Sydistiko Sydistiko kicked out of Helms big moves, but fouled him in desperation. Sydistiko trapped Helms in chairs after the match, and jumped off hte top rope onto a chair that was on Helms’ arm. He was going for the same thing on Helms’ head when Marco made the save.
6) Mascarita Dorada & Mr. Griegos b Pequeño Halloween & Vladamiro possibly a dark match. Mr. Griegos is a facutly member from University of New Mexico
7) LA Park b Petey Williams clean win for Park.
In between matches 3/4, Lizmark recieved a free night on the city from the casino. Skit to come, for sure.
AAA TV (SAT) 02/19/2011 Plaza De Toros El Pinal, Teziutlan, Puebla[Mi Lucha Libre (5), Mi Lucha Libre (6), Mi Lucha Libre (2-4), AAA,Black Terry Jr. (flickr)]
1) Dare Devil & Fenix b Dark Dragon & Gallego Dark match. “Dare Devil” looks like he might be Dark Devil of IWRG.
2) Jennifer Blake, Mini Chessman, Ronin b Lolita, Mini Charly Manson, Sugi San Lolita, who’s shown up on DTU shows and is a trainee of the Apaches, replaced the hurt Fabi here. Jennifer Blake replaced Sexi Star, who was working hard at the gym. Lolita ably replaced Fabi – she lost because Hijo de Tirantes tripped her up.
3) El Elegido & Laredo Kid b Alan Stone & Chris Stone Before the match, Elegido did a dance for a fan, and also hugged his girlfriend in the front row. Elegido won with a powerbomb on Alan. Rudos laid him out after the match, Alan stole the mask again, and this time danced right in front of Elegido’s girlfriend.
4) Extreme Tiger & Jack Evans b Silver King & Último Gladiador tag champions defeated in an non-title action, Tiger getting a surprise pinfall after taking moves.
5) El Mesías b Aerostar, Electroshock, Súper Fly [Rey de Reyes, final] Laredo tried to attack Super Fly before the match, for general crimes against the Air Force since Laredo Kid has last been on TV, but security pulled him away. Aerostar was first out after a Super Fly martinete. Electroshock quickly surprised Super Fly to beat him (again!), and Laredo Kid attacked Super Fly again. Mesias finished Electro with a back cracker and a top rope splash.
6) Dr. Wagner Jr., Monster Clown, Murder Clown, Psycho Clown DQDamián 666, Halloween, Super Crazy, X-Fly Plan was for the mystery man to be someone new. Plans change! X-Fly was the big surprise instead. Hardcore match with all sorts of weapons, and yet still ended in a DQ when Perro Jr. ran in. Wagner’s mask was all ripped up. After the match, Joaquin came out to bring the Wagners and Clowns to the back – where Mesias had been and was covered it blood. Good for Joaquin for getting a doctor, I guess.
Mesias’ attacker is implied to be LA Park, but Super Fly and/or Cibernetico have very similar attacks in the recent past. I’m not sure if that’s supposed to be a plot point here, or if they’re just very uncreatively redoing the same angle that they just just spent four months on.
CMLL (FRI) 02/18/2011 Arena Mexico [CMLL]
1) Artillero & Súper Comando b Rayo Tapatío I & Rayo Tapatío II
2) Amapola, Princesa Sujei, Zeuxis b Dalys la Caribeña, Dark Angel, Luna Mágica
3) La Sombra & Misterioso Jr. b Hijo del Fantasma & Mephisto [natl pi, eightfinal]
4) Diamante & Volador Jr. b Ephesto & Stuka Jr. [natl pi, eightfinal]
5) Felino & La Máscara b Psicosis & Valiente [natl pi, eightfinal]
6) Atlantis & Máscara Dorada b Máximo & Negro Casas [natl pi, eightfinal]
7) Diamante & Volador Jr. b La Sombra & Misterioso Jr. [natl pi, quarterfinal]
8) Atlantis & Máscara Dorada b Felino & La Máscara [natl pi, quarterfinal]
9) Atlantis & Máscara Dorada b Diamante & Volador Jr. [natl pi, semifinal] expected winners win, and face Team Red/Blue (Team Purple?) next week.
10) Blue Panther, Rush, Super Porky DQ Terrible, Texano, Último Guerrero Straight fall win for the tecnicos, Texano desperately fouling Porky in the second. Terrible & Texano continued to beat up Porky until Maximo made the save. Father and son made a hair match challenge. Texano and Terrible accepted!
My assumption/slightly educated guess is that match will happen at Dos Leyendas, but it will not be the main event – there had always been a plan of two main event level matches for that show and that match would work. If this is the sole main event, there’s a problem.
CMLL’s clearly been anxious to do a Super Porky hair mask, first teasing one with Volador (which would’ve been bad for everyone) and then doing this one. It’s surprising Maximo’s involved after the week that was – Cesar argues they shouldn’t trust him in this spot, but I’m not that concerned. Maximo is getting what he wants out of this match, and perhaps that’s a reason he’s not going anywhere. Seems like Rush got moved out of this spot for Maximo, but I suppose Tuesday’s title match is his consolation prize.
Rey Misterio Sr. is promoting a new Hijo del Rey Misterio, which begs many questions. DJ Spectro says the original Hijo del Rey Misteriso was said to be not ambitious enough, but is either one actually his son? It’s not very clear.
Both AAA and Lucha Libre USA tape tonight. AAA has a mystery figure in the main event, LLUSA has a mystery air date. Dorian’s Twitter mentions Perro Aguayo Jr. will be at the AAA show – he’s not in a match right now unless he’s the mystery guy.
Ras de Lona taped their show this week from CMLL’s press conference set. Sneaky hilarity, I like it. Mostly the feuds you’d expect and the teams for last night’s block. Mephisto & Fantasma argued in their interview, with Mephisto even saying he’d rather beat up Fantasma than win the tournament. There was a brief Magnus interview – the red in his gear comes out stronger on TV, but the big headscissors they showed as highlights looked a lot like a new guy still working on his speed. They didn’t show his dive, oddly. Rush did a good promo for his title match. They were clearly setting up Texano (& Terrible) vs Rush/Porky here. Texano was pretty emphatic when he said Rush was no star, Texano was a real star.
CMLL (FRI) 02/25/2011 Arena Mexico
1) Bengala & Robin vs Semental & Zayco
2) Fuego, Guerrero Maya Jr., Magnus vs Dr. X, Loco Max, Tiger Kid
3) Ángel de Oro, Delta, Sangre Azteca vs Misterioso Jr., Pólvora, Shigeo Okumura
4) Rush vs Rey Bucanero [lightning]
5) Máximo, Super Porky, Toscano vs Héctor Garza, Terrible, Texano
6) Blue Panther & Dragón Rojo Jr. vs Atlantis & Máscara Dorada [natl pi, final]
Atlantis & Dorada winning back to back years would be odd but not unprecedentedly odd for CMLL. Dorada is on a hot streak, too.
Rush faces the current light heavyweight champion on Tuesday, and the previous light heavyweight champion on Friday.
More Sangre Azteca vs two of his rivals.
Magnus is back, and now everyone’s ready for him. That’ll be interesting.
IWRG (THU) 02/17/2011 Arena Naucalpan [Estrellas del Ring, Black Terry Jr. (flickr), Mi Lucha Libre]
1) Lucky Boy b Imperial Straight fall win.
2) Carta Brava Jr., Comando Negro, Imposible b Alan Extreme, Eterno, Explosivo Rudos were made at Eterno for having teamed with the tecnicos. He’s been back and forth between both sides this month, and I have no idea what’s meant to be happening.
3) Negro Navarro, Trauma I, Trauma II b Barba Roja, Hijo de Pirata Morgan, Pirata Morgan
4) Oficial 911, Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro L Monster Clown, Murder Clown, Psycho Clown and Bestia 666, Damián 666, Halloween [cage] First out were Monster, Halloween, Fierro, Murder Clown, 911. That left AK47, Psycho, Bestia and Damian. Psycho laid out Bestia with a big move, then dropped AK47 with a martinete. Halloween and Murder Clown both came back into help, and Monster Clown planched everyone. Clowns escaped. Perros escaped next, with AK47 still out from the martinete. The Oficials challenged Psycho to matches after the fact, and Psycho argued with his uncle El Brazo.
Tonight is the second block of the National Tournament. Everyone pegged returning champions Atlantis & Mascara Dorada as the favorites not just because of last year’s success, but because they are each long time rivals of first block winners Blue Panther & Dragon Rojo. We’re also watching to see Hijo del Fantasma and Mephisto fail to get along as a team, and to see if it leads anywhere. One of the other interesting teams is internet favs Valiente & Psicosis. It was just two weeks ago where Psicosis told Arena Puebla press that Puebla was his home and he’d always represent it, but CMLL only counts four ‘schools’ and he and fellow Puebla native Valiente are slotted as Mexico City reps in this tournament. This would be a nice time for CMLL to change their rules in mid stream.
On this past week’s AAA TV (still haven’t gotten to) Cibernetico was shown to have a mole in the Milicia. Who could it be? Perhaps the guy who was questioning things and making secret phone calls last fall? The other important thing here is Konnan has moved the goal line on LA Park, telling him that beating Mesias wasn’t quite enough to get a title shot yet (so he’s not in the title match at Rey de Reyes.)
CMLL public service campaign of the moment: Non-Violence Mexico. Rey Bucanero, Zeuxis and Polvora spoke out for solving conflicts through communication and knowledge. It’s a good cause, but an odd fit for a lucha libre promotion.
Super Crazy is headlining Insane Tour, three shows in early March on the exterior of Mexico City, featuring the usual XLAW crew, including a couple of Chileans. A big year for Chile!
CMLL (TUE) 02/22/2011 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Metatrón vs Evola
2) Astro Boy & Leono vs Drago & Exterminador
3) Black Metal & Palacio Negro vs Hooligan & Skándalo
4) Sangre Azteca, Stuka Jr., Valiente vs Rey Bucanero, Shigeo Okumura, Yoshihashi
5) Hijo del Fantasma, La Sombra, Máscara Dorada vs Terrible, Texano, Volador Jr.
A show! Maybe someone can talk Terrible & Texano into defending their tag team titles at some point.
AAA-US: Atomic Boy! And other people. Main event is Chessman/Zorro vs Wagner/Mesias, with Mesias looking in rough shape. (Airs late on the west coast.)
52MX: surely the Olimpico/Bam Bam title match, to follow up on the cibernetico last week. They’ve been good about that lately.
LATV: Seems to have moved to 3pm eastern on Saturdays (3 hours early), and only the Sunday night repeat remains. At least I can give up on getting a complete version a lot earlier in the week.
Anyway, could they air new episodes three weeks in a row? Well, it’s Blanco/Trueno vs Cholo/Mortiz and a questionable women’s match, so I’d be okay either way.
GDL: they pulled together two tapings last week, so no sure bet on what Felino will pick for this week. 01/11 has a Black Metal/Metal Blanco/Palacio Negro vs Okumura/Virus/Yoshiahsi match which sounds chaotic.
———–
CMLL: Dorada/Averno, block A of the national tournament, and apparently Magnus’ debut will air as well. That’ll be fun!
AAA-MEX: finishing up from Naucalpan: AAA vs IWRG, Electro vs Metal, Bizarros vs AAA.
CMLL-FOX: Panther/Porky/Toscano vs Garza/Casas/Volador
CMLLC3: Demus vs Virus in trios, set up for Ephesto/Rush
CMLLMega6: Mima/Blanca/Tiffany vs Lluvia/Luna/Marcela is the bonus match
Puebla: 13 days behind, so this is the UG/Psicosis show. We’ve got to talk TVCDeportes into turning their Justin.TV feed on for this show (especially since they’re saving the broadcasts.)
ACM: CMLL match? Angel de Oro/Fantasma/Aguila vs Dr. X/Bucanero/Skandalo
PdM: no idea.
IWRG: three way cage match that just ended, Navarros vs Piratas.
——-
CMLL-TFN: Volador Jr. vs Mistico, for the title.
