AAA: New lucha! First taping of the year, with minis, Clowns, and Bizarros.

52MX: Two grab back matches, including a rare appearance of Metatron and an epic Yosihashi/Rush battle.

LATV: who knows

GDL: This show is now four weeks behind reality. Again, Pesta Negra in the main event, which should leave an announce crew of JCR and Perico.

———-

CMLL: Still 8 days behind. Fantasma/Sombra/Dorada vs Averno/Mephisto/Negro Casas

AAA: Chessman/Zorro vs Wagner/Mesias, Clowns vs Bizarros, debuts of Fenix and Dark Dragon (and return of Atomic Boy.)

CMLL-FOX: Minis and Panther/Volador

C3: Panther/Fantasma/Sombra vs Atlantis/Felino/Garza

CMLL-GDL: bonus match is Truenos vs Stuka/Flash, which sounds pretty good. There are many reasons why I shouldn’t be allowed to makes matches, but one of them is I would’ve make Rey Trueno/Mr. Trueno vs Trueno/Delta right now.

Perros and Puebla: not listed on TVC Deportes schedule. Dunno.

Monterrey: Mascara Purpura, if there’s a new episode.

IWRG: no Thursday taping. Last week aired matches from October (including Hijo de Cien Caras in action), so no telling here. It would make sense to air the show this past Sunday with three title matches, so I’ll go wtih that.

CMLL-TFN: Block B of the National Tournament.

Perros, UWE, Rey de Reyes on PPV

PdM AAA IWL (TUE) 02/01/2011 Arena Aficion [Mi Lucha Libre, R de Rudo]
***59th Anniversary Show***
Attendance: 2800
1) Silencioso b Blazer
R de Rudo calls Blazer ‘erratico’
2) Magia Jr. & Payaso Arenita b Intruso & Kevin
3) Black Soul, Fantasma de la Ópera, Kung Fu Jr. DQ El Hijo del Medico Asesino, Fishman Jr., Samot
Sure appears to be the same Medico Asesino who signed with FCW. Foul for the DQ.
4) Monster Clown, Murder Clown, Psycho Clown DDQ Bestia 666, Ek Balam, X-Fly
Halloween ran in to foul Psycho Clown. Killer did the same to X-Fly, and the ref just called the whole thing off.
5) Extreme Tiger, Jack Evans, La Parka Jr. DQ Damián 666, el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Halloween
After Tiger & Jack dives, Perro yanked Parka’s mask for the obligatory end to a Perros del Mal show. Everyone (including the Circus) challenged everyone else to every match possible.

Sold out building with people standing to watch. Arena Aficion’s local only shows seem to draw 200 or less, and appearances by the lesser Perros haven’t boosted the attendance near this height. Fans were more behind the Perros.

Black Terry Jr.

Cien snuck in a foul on Scorpio
6) Murder Clown & Psycho Clown DQ Coco Azul & Coco Rojo [UWE TAG, eigthfinal]
Coco Rojo pulled Psycho Clown’s mask for the DQ.
7) Chucho el Roto & Iron Love DQ Villano III & Villano IV [UWE TAG, quarterfinal]
Villanos lost due to excessive violence
8) Cien Caras Jr. & Máscara Año 2000 Jr. b Murder Clown & Psycho Clown [UWE TAG, quarterfinal]
Coco Rojo back in to cause the Psycho loss.

These UWE tag team tournaments are leading to a four team final, so we’ve got one more to come on a CMLL show here in a couple weeks.

As expected, the AAA teams did not get thru to face the CMLL teams. It sure looks like the Villanos were only going to let Chucho el Roto and Iron Love win if they destroyed them (and the ref) in process, but the locals guys did get the win. That win over the DTU pair in the opening round is interesting. That’s supposed to be an AULL tag team title match this Sunday, and the AULL team has beat the DTU team twice this week. Those finishes and this whole different tag team tournament in the same building sure seems to point to a title change this weekend, and DTU may have those tag titles for a while.

That jam packed building looks even better when compared to Arena Queretaro’s 29th Anniversary show, featuring CMLL guys but held in front of a very select group of fans.

Tuesday, Dorian Roldan wrote on Twitter that Rey de Reyes would be on PPV. Probably only in Mexico, there’s no mention of it airing any place else. Unless they have a lot of yet to be announced tapings in February, it should still air on regular TV.

X-Fly retained the Perros del Mal Extreme championship over Shyru Dragon in Arena Roberto Paz this weekend. They brawled outside onto a car at one point, but then someone informed them that the car belonged to LA Park and they quickly got off the car.

Gato Eveready is now El Gato. No more battery sponsorship. He was under the new name at the last TV taping (and there were no Eveready wrappers around the ring posts), but his gear is the same with the battery logo removed from his chest.

Shocker is having a twenty anniversary show at Arena Lopez Mateos on 02/26 – except, he won’t be on it, because he’s still out with a broken leg. And we have his debut as October 16, 1992, which would make this like an 18 1/2 year anniversary show. Otherwise, this all makes sense! (Our date must be wrong.)

LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update and this week’s Ras de Lona.

great aim

taped in Arena Mexico, 01/09/2011

Rayo Tapatío I, Rayo Tapatío II, Sensei vs Bronco, Mortiz, Tiger Kid: Crowd predictably had no interest in this match, but it was their loss. The Tapatios are the only ones who can time the toss/missile dropkick spot.

Ángel de Oro, Diamante, Rush vs Delta, Metro, Stuka Jr. [MEX TRIOS]: Eh. This was a bunch of moves just to do moves for a while and then it was over. Rush and Stuka did the big move kickouts at the end, but it didn’t feel like it was going anywhere until then.
