CMLL on LATV #21 (09/25/2010)

Arena Mexico, 08/20/2010

fear the power of Monito

Fuego, Stuka Jr., Valiente vs Misterioso II, Shigeo Okumura, Yoshihashi: Yoshihashi’s best match ever? He was knocked over by Monito’s plancha, that may have been his CMLL high point so far. I understand there are certain legal problems by naming a guy Flash and having him wear variations of the comic book character, but Fuego’s gear is bad and his mask is bad and it’s been a pretty lost year since making the switch.

Felino, Negro Casas, Rey Bucanero vs Charly Manson, Héctor Garza, Mr. Águila: The parts my local LATV affilate could bother to air were okay, better than the last few variations of this match. I wonder if the hair match will end being shown on LATV, since it seems like all these trios matches being included.

Mistico/AAA, Neza, Promotion War, lineups

In a post match interview Sunday, Perro Aguayo Jr. says they were talking to Mistico about appearing at Heroes Inmortales, but he backed out for unspecified reasons – Perro suggests Mistico got scared. This appears to directly conflict with Dorian’s twitter messages last week, but Perro means “they” as the Perros del Mal promotion and Dorian only said AAA had not talked to Mistico, so I guess everyone can be telling the truth here. (hahaha) Mistico is said to have worked out his problems with CMLL and won’t be leaving now.

A story in Luchas 2000 (a primary investor in Perros del Mal) repeats Perro’s tale about Mistico, and says Ultimo Guerrero was talked to as well, but wanted more money than they were offering. Those were the two names bandied about on Twitter (and likely would’ve been in Ozz & Cuervo’s spots), but it doesn’t sound like either of those two guys were actually in Madero on Friday. If they had jumped, I hope they would’ve scaled back on the 15 other things going on in that match.

Anyway, Perro’s not the most trust worthy source of information, as Rob points out in the thread, and everyone knows you can get more attention right now by talking Mistico jumping somewhere (myself included) so take everything with a grain of salt.

Gabriela Peraya, Mistico’s old soccer playing friend, tweeted that he was showing up at Arena Puebla last night to see Mistico. If he did make it, there’s a better chance our Mistico might be interviewed by the press, and he surely will get some interesting questions. Haven’t seen any report yet.

CMLL (SAT) 10/02 Arena Neza [The Gladiatores]
1) Chacalo, Mun-Ra, Reptilo b Ambar, Hermano Muerte II, Hermano Muerte III
2) Chico Che, Infinito, Principe Neza b Carta Brava Jr., Chamaco Davila, Vampiro Metálico
3) Starman, Ultraman, Ultramán Jr. b Dr. X, Skándalo, Ultimo Samurai
4) Hijo del Fantasma, Máscara Dorada, Stuka Jr. b Arkángel de la Muerte, Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca
5) Felino, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas DQ Dragón Rojo Jr., Héctor Garza, Olímpico

After Garza faked a foul in the first place, Niebla tossed his mask to Garza to darw the third fall DQ.

I believe that’s the first time Ultraman, Ultraman Jr. and Starman (the original Ultraman Jr.) have teamed up as a trio.

IWRG (SUN) 10/03 Arena Naucalpan [Black Terry Jr., Espaldas Planas, La WagnerMania, Estrellas del Ring, The Gladiatores]
1) Eterno & Último Gladiador b Aeroboy & Violento Jack and Daga & Tribal
2) Mini Abismo Negro & Sexy Star b Fabi Apache & Mascarita Divina
3) Monster Clown, Murder Clown, Psycho Clown b Pasion Kristal, Pimpinela Escarlata, Polvo de Estrellas
4) Crazy Boy & Joe Lider b Chucho el Roto & Iron Love [Guerra de Empresas, quarterfinal]
5) Electroshock & Silver Kain b Bestia 666 & Damián 666 [Guerra de Empresas, quarterfinal]
6) Electroshock & Silver Kain b Crazy Boy & Joe Lider [Guerra de Empresas, semifinal]
7) Hijo del Cien Caras & Máscara Año 2000 Jr. b Dr. Wagner Jr. & La Parka Jr. [Guerra de Empresas, semifinal]
8) Hijo del Cien Caras & Máscara Año 2000 Jr. b Electroshock & Silver Kain [Guerra de Empresas, final]

Looks like a full house, or pretty close to it. I wonder if TVC Deportes will end up airing this?

Tournament was set up with a battle royal, with the last two teams getting byes. Bestia replaced Halloween, who was said to be hurt. There’s footage of Halloween getting stiched up at Heroes Inmortales. Gladiador, Lider and Crazy Boy were in a ambulance the previous day and wrestled here. Halloween’s surely the smart one.

AULL was the first team out, of course. Electroshock dropped Bestia with a martinete for the pin. Damian attacked Electro & Silver King until the DTU guys made the save. (This will all be completely ignored on AAA shows.) DTU/Maniacos bottle breaking/tube smashing bits. It was a second bottle to Lider’s head that gave Electro the win. Lider and Electro made challenges after the match. Parka/Wagner lost when Parka was distracted by the Maniaco’s music. Electroshock tried to get out of the final, saying he was to hurt to wrestle, but the Junior Dinamitas goaded him into wrestling and Mascara ended up fouling him for the pin.

Clowns won in straight falls. Pimpi kissed some people who were taunting her during the match.

Abismo got Divina to take the segunda. Since Sexi Star won, this will assuredly not air.

Opener included staples to the head and tacks. Daga & Tribal were eliminated.

¡Ayúdeme!: I think I’m banned from El Martinete? Or I’m locked out because I didn’t post in the thread about deactivating accounts again? (And now I can’t remember my password anyway.) Does anyone who still have access know what happened?

AAA on Televisa #957 (09/25/2010)

Palenque de la Feria, Pachuca, Hidalgo, 09/05/2010

this could've been the finish, for all times

Mascarita Sagrada 2007, Mini Charly Manson, Octagoncito vs Mini Abismo Negro, Mini Histeria, Mini Psicosis: This was a fun minis match, as they usually are, and didn’t get much time, like it usually doesn’t. I still don’t understand the story of Abismo thinking he’s the only guy in his group who can be champion when he just lost to Octagoncito, except if maybe Abismo believe such a thing in a real life.

Mari Apache vs Sexy Star for the AAA’s Reina de Reinas match: They didn’t leave any out here for Sexi Star. She lost and she got pretty well killed once Mari broke free of the double team. Sexi’s offense was really basic and not very interesting when she was in charge, and I don’t think I’m going to miss her singles matches. Wonder if there’s a plan for this title next.

Aerostar, Laredo Kid, Súper Fly vs Chris Stone, Decnnis, Tigre Cota: A good match! Rudos are already coming together nicely, though everyone in this match has worked with everyone on the other side for years now. Poor Super Fly, so desperate to turn rudo if only someone would just ask him.

Heavy Metal, Joe Lider, Nicho el Millionario vs Damián 666, Electroshock, Halloween in a street fight match: Heavy Metal & Electroshock have already progressed from hitting each other hard in the head with solid objects to needing a powerbomb onto chairs objects after that to the end the match. I believe they’ll be knife fighting by Decemember.

Cibernético, El Mesías, La Parka Jr. vs el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Hernandez, Zorro: Someone had to be in the wrong place or around at the wrong time at the end of this match, because Mesias and Perro just stopped fighting and walked off to clear room for the finish. That was all sorts of silly.

10/15 CMLL lineup (Negro Casas vs Charly Manson)

CMLL (FRI) 10/15 Arena Mexico
1) Mascarita Dorada, Shockercito, Último Dragoncito vs Pequeño Nitro, Pequeño Warrior, Pierrothito
2) Amapola, Princesa Blanca, Princesa Sujei vs Estrellita, Seuxis, Tiffany
3) Valiente vs Dragón Rojo Jr. [lightning]
4) Blue Panther, Metro, Rush vs Histeria, Mr. Águila, Ray Mendoza Jr.
5) La Máscara, La Sombra, Máscara Dorada vs El Alebrije, Olímpico, Psicosis
6) Negro Casas vs Charly Manson [hair]

Show is subtitled “Entre El Cielo Y El Infierno” – Between Heaven and Hell.

Like the 06/06 Sin Salida card, this is mainly a CMLL vs Invasors show. On CMLL’s side, a lot of usual names are left off. Everyone will (rightly) make a big deal about no Mistico, but there’s also no Volador, no Ultimo Guerrero, no rest of Peste Negra, no Hijos de Averno. Histeria makes the card, but not Hector Garza. Ray Mendoza Jr. plays Invasor (to feud with Panther) but no Taichi.

If you look at this as a second Anniversary card, Amapola, Princesa Blanca, Princesa Sujei, Blue Panther, La Máscara, Máscara Dorada, Dragón Rojo Jr., Negro Casas, Charly Manson, Mr. Águila, Olímpico, Histeria, Psicosis, La Sombra,  and El Alebrije all end up working both.

If you look at this at the start of running monthly or six-weekly major shows, then that’d really be interesting. But we wouldn’t find that out for a while longer.

On it’s own, it’s not a strong card. The Negro/Charly is a bigger hair match than Maximo/Taichi, but the entire CMLL/Invasors concept is significantly colder than it was four months ago. There’s no added attraction like Rayo de Jalisco returning to face Universo one more time. I don’t know if a trios title match in the semimain would’ve helped things, but if CMLL knew they were ending up with this card ahead of time, they really should’ve built that semimain up.

There’s no TripleMania across town. And ticket prices seems cheaper. This is not an exciting card but it still might do OK.

Match quality wise, this should be a good show. They just did that minis match on 52MX, and it was a really good match. Everyone (but the Rush/Villano V) spectacular has a chance of being good or even really good.
