Sombra wins but Felino gets the better of the fight (again), lineups

CMLL (FRI) 03/26 Arena Mexico [SuperLuchas, ESTO, Cesar]
1) Puma King & Tiger Kid b Bengala & Robin
2) Astral, Bracito de Oro, Eléctrico b Pequeño Violencia, Pequeño Warrior, Pierrothito
3) Metro, Sagrado, Valiente b Dragon Rojo Jr., Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca
4) Toscano b Ephesto [lightning]
5) Taichi, Terrible, Texano Jr. b Blue Panther, Brazo de Plata, Héctor Garza
6) La Sombra, Shocker, Volador Jr. DQ Felino, Negro Casas, Último Guerrero

Rudos took first fall, tecnicos took the second fall, Felino fouled Sombra in the third. Fans are still behind Felino; if this is going to pay off for Sombra, it’s not going to be until after years of mentioning it. It’s not helping him now.

Blue Panther replaced Maximo. Garza did not get along with Brazo de Plata.

Bracito de Oro got the pin on Mini Warrior.

Sangre Azteca still wants his Mexcian Trios rematch. Fuego also has a bio on Asesino Negro.

El Signo says he’s retiring on May 1st. Is this the 2nd or 3rd time?

Proyeccion Luchistica is back with audio commentary on IWRG handhelds.

R de Rudo has 1 2 3 4 5 posts about the first day of a mask expo. DJ Spectro has photos as well.

Lineups

CMLL (TUE) 03/30 Arena Mexico
1) Metatrón & Tormenta vs Camorra & Oro Negro
2) Astral, Bam Bam, Pequeño Olímpico vs Pequeño Damian 666, Pequeño Universo 2000, Pequeño Violencia
3) Ángel Azteca, Ángel de Oro, Ángel de Plata vs Arkangel de la Muerte, Euforia, Nosferatu
4) Metro, Stuka Jr., Valiente vs Dragon Rojo Jr., Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca
5) Máscara Dorada, Shocker, Toscano vs Atlantis, Felino, Rey Bucanero

All three Mexican Trios champions on the same show! Not in the same match, don’t get crazy. (Appears they’re actually building up to the match Sangre wants here.) Oro Negro is a name from Ciudad Madero. I think the masked name Dhani Jones wanted to use was Black Gold, but I’m thinking this is not him. There’s a Tormenta in Veracruz, but there’s also another one who’s turned up in Arena San Juan and AULL.

CMLL (FRI) 04/02 Arena Mexico
1) Horus & Metálico vs Disturbio & Durango Kid
2) Bracito de Oro, Eléctrico, Mascarita Dorada vs Pequeño Nitro, Pequeño Warrior, Pierrothito
3) Fuego vs Pólvora [lightning]
4) Blue Panther, Rush, Sagrado vs Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto
5) Héctor Garza, Hijo del Fantasma, La Máscara vs Taichi, Terrible, Texano Jr.
6) Brazo de Plata, La Sombra, Volador Jr. vs Felino, Místico, Negro Casas

Obviously, the big news here is Mascarita Dorada being on the card. There’s a 45% chance this is a fake lineup, with the minis match being switched to a Bracito de Oro & Pequeno Warrior and the other minis being removed from the card.

Why it would be a fake lineup: That match is going to occur at some point, CMLL just uses random wrestler names when they’re going to change the card (Atomo was used once when he was long gone). Not only is Dorada’s participation eye raising, this would be Horus’ first Friday Arena Mexico match of the year.

Why it would be a real lineup: do you really need to throw out a fake lineup to hide  Bracito de Oro vs Pequeno Warrior mask match for a couple days? No, no you do not.

More of the same in the main event. Will Garza’s recent dissatisfaction with both Maximo & Porky extend to his trios partner La Mascara?

CMLL (SUN) 04/04 Arena Coliseo
1) Astro Boy & Sensei vs Artillero & Súper Comando
2) Dalis la Caribeña, Lady Apache, Marcela vs Amapola, La Seductora, Princesa Blanca
3) Ángel de Oro, Ángel de Plata, Fabián el Gitano vs Dr. X, Euforia, Pólvora
4) Máscara Dorada, Metro, Toscano vs Misterioso II, Shigeo Okumura, Virus
5) Blue Panther, Brazo de Plata, Shocker vs Negro Casas, Rey Bucanero, Último Guerrero

Future big star La Seductora has a match! Not a good sign that she’s matched up with Dalis. I’m just thrilled Fabian is on Fox for once.

Cesar has his thoughts on the lineups as well.

MTY, IWRG, Mexico preview, impersonators

indy (TUE) 03/23 Arena Coliseo Monterrey [RFC]
1) Drako (Tijuana) & Volcan Negro b Lobo Rojo & Slayer Boy
2) Pee Wee DRAW Pedro Navajas
3) Lady Puma, Mini Rey Sagitario, Rosa Salvaje b Alondra, Mini Androide, Perla Negra
4) Hijo de Espanto II & Rey Demonio Jr. DQ Mongol Chino & Tigre Universitario
5) Androide, Corazon Adicto, Rey Sagitario b Golden Boy, Lover Boy, Simbolo

Corazon Adicto fouled Simbolo and got away with it for the main event win. In the semimain, Espanto threw his mask to Universitario to draw the DQ. Mini Sagitario unmasked Mini Androide for the pinfall in the tercera. Second match was best match of that night.

IWRG (THU) 03/25 Arena Naucalpan [Estrellas del Ring, Black Terry Jr. (flickr)]
1) Imperio Azteca b Imperial
2) Héros & Kid Tornado b Comando Negro & Heavy Boy
3) Chico Che, Gemelo Fantastico I, Gemelo Fantastico II b Bombero Infernal, Maldito Jr., Samoth
4) Avisman, El Hijo del Diablo, Gringo Loco b el Ángel, Suicida, Zatura
5) Negro Navarro, Trauma I, Trauma II b Barba Roja, Hijo de Pirata Morgan, Pirata Morgan

Pirates took the first, Navarros took the second, Hijo de Pirata surprised Trauma I with an armbar to set up the win. (The rest of the Navarros were counted out.) This sets up a Hijo de Piarta Morgan/Trauma I Americas LH title match. It’ll be in two weeks, since they’re off next Thursday here.

Diablo yanked Angel’s mask and covered him for the win. Zatura was strechered out after a dive.

Previews of tonight’s card: Notimex, ESTO, Ovaciones. The show is just about Felino wrestling unmasked a week after losing his mask. In Ovaciones, Felino says he’s still thinking about how he’s going to change his look, he still wants some revenge on Mistico for leaving him to die in the mask match, and he’s not really happy with CMLL programmers for distorting Peste Negra. Felino specifically doesn’t like the Mr. Niebla teaming up with Maximo – they’re rudos, they shouldn’t be pairing with exoticos or tecnicos – and maybe that means they need to kick out Niebla.

the gang's all here/dinastialuchistica.com

AAA lists Mascarita Divina as working a spot show on Tuesday, which seems about three months sooner than expected. He tore up his knee back at Guerra de Titanes.

Blue Demon Jr. will be part of an advertising campaign for adult diapers. Really.

Rene Guajardo Jr. is apparently running a business that rents out Parka, Mistico, Rey Misterio, Jeff Hardy and John Cena (impersonators) for kid’s parties.

Pancracio has interviews with Bam Bam & Mini Violencia about their hair match, La Hermandad (who give credit to their opponents), Heavy Metal (who says he just lives a couple blocks away from the AAA show and was just stopping by to say hi to his dad when he was suddenly in the show; craziness!), and La Monje from Tercera Caida. There’s also a long bio of Abismo Negro.

Cesar has thoughts on this past weekends’ indy shows.

R de Rudo has an audio interview with unmasked Felino.

TerraTV has the full Te Das o Te Rindes episode with Alex Koslov.

Cronicas Y Leyendas looks back at the start of the bull terrier matches.

DJ Spectro looks back at Gran Markus vs Anibal, and the second part of the American Salvaje history. Also, there’s a mask expo this weekend.

LuchaWorld has Alfredo on this past weekend’s LATV, KrisZ’s news update, and this week’s Slammin’ Stan.

SuperLuchas has a story on AAA’s return to Peru TV and Atlantis signing autographs at the Mexico City fair.

Lineups

CMLL (MON) 03/29 Arena Puebla
1) Karisma & Siki Osama vs Black Tiger & Milenium
2) Inquisidor, Puma King, Tiger Kid vs Guerrero Maya Jr., Molotov, Sensei
3) Pegasso, Rey Cometa, Rush vs Dr. X, Hooligan, Pólvora
4) Blue Panther, Hijo del Fantasma, Máscara Dorada vs Dragon Rojo Jr., Shigeo Okumura, Taichi
5) Brazo de Plata, Héctor Garza, La Sombra vs Felino, Negro Casas, Último Guerrero

Just a normal show.

CMLL (TUE) 03/30 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Leo (GDL) vs Nube Roja
2) Idolo & Thunder Boy vs Acertijo & Dragon
3) Gallo, Metal Blanco, Palacio Negro vs Ebola, Exterminador, Rey Trueno
4) Brazo de Plata, La Máscara, Máximo vs Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto
5) Brazo de Oro vs Asesino Negro [hair]

The big hair match. All the Brazos in the semimain probably means something is up here.

LA Park to make his AAA in-ring return on 04/17…maybe

Besides the one taping covered below, AAA also announced they’d be taping on 04/17 in Orizaba. No lineup, but

EN ESTE EVENTO VEREMOS A L.A. PARK LUCHAR

(Hey, he’s Original La Parka! And he has a pool!)

The small problem with LA Park making his in-ring debut on this show: just two days ago, Valiente Entertainment announced he’d be working for them in Austin, Texas that night. That’s a tough double shot, 800 miles apart. The best part of the LA Park press conference I forgot to mention was Park saying, at Rey de Reyes, he had his son waiting in a getaway car to get him out of town quick. Hijo de La Park is going to need a getaway jet plane for this one.

I figured Park’s indy bookings would conflict with AAA at some point, but didn’t think it would happen on the first show he was scheduled to wrestle.

04/06 AAA TV Lineup (San Martín Texmelucan)

AAA TV (TUE) 04/06 Gimnasio San Damian, San Martin Texmelucan, Puebla
1) Atomic Boy, Gato Eveready, Laredo Kid vs Billy Boy, Decnnis, El Brazo
2) Aerostar & Fabi Apache vs Alex Koslov & Rain
3) Extreme Tiger, Jack Evans, Rocky Romero vs Cuervo, Escoria, Ozz
4) Cibernético, El Mesías, Heavy Metal vs Joe Lider, Konnan, Nicho el Millionario
5) Dr. Wagner Jr., Electroshock, Silver King vs Chessman, Kenzo Suzuki, Zorro

2010 AAA TV Chart
Projected Air Date (#932)
Mexico: 04/11
US: 04/17

They should be able to get this to air in five days, but this is about as long as they can wait to run another taping. Five matches means these all should air.

Electro is no longer friends with his teammates, so he teams with them here. Theoretically, this is a Chessman vs Electroshock TripleMania preview, but not at all in reality. Reality seems much more like they’re just killing time before running their TripleMania angles.

Hermandad also are not so happy with Konnan, so they team with him here. That match does not seem promising for Konnan.

I wonder if the Dark Family will destroy Jack Evans again. I wonder if I’m still supposed to be remembering that.

Genuinely excited for Alex/Rain vs Fabi/Aero. Alex vs the Apaches was much better than I had figured. If the Legion has to win all the the titles, they might as well take care of both sets of tag belts before moving on. We just need to figure out which random US indy guy shows up to win the Cruiserweight title (WON says they’re high on Flip Kendrick but haven’t offered him a deal), maybe have Von Eerie steal the Reina de Reinas title from Sexi Star, and then build that all to Chessman versus whomever for the Mega title at Verano de Escandalo or the Pena show.

Laredo Kid, the new star of the openers! Don’t care, match will be good, better than a lip service push.

LA Park has a pool, Seductora, Mephisto, Phoenix

CMLL (TUE) 03/23 Arena Aficion [Estrellas del Ring, Hidalgo Sport]
3) Guerrero Maya Jr. & Neutrón b Ángel de Plata & Horus
4) Felino, Puma King, Tiger Kid b Fabio, Harlem, Sangre Azteca

Cats 1, France 0.

My favorite interview of the day is a telephone interview with LA Park about his feud with AAA Parka. Highlights include

  • he wants to be known as Original La Parka, because that’s the truth
  • he’s not coming to AAA for money, he’s got money.
  • “he’s owns a large ranch with a pool, unlike most people.”
  • La Parka Jr. should’ve never won those Televisa Deportes awards, because he didn’t accomplish as much. Park has accomplished a lot
  • LA Park might be piggy fat, but he can lose weight. La Parka Jr. can’t fix his broken arm.

LA Park is a fantastic man. “I HAVE A POOL” needs to be the catchphrase of 2010.

Ovaciones’ mention of La Seductora being a future star of CMLL doesn’t seem as much a random chance today: ESTO, and Notimex all have quotes with her from an interview. It’s mostly a career bio (from Chilachapa, started wrestling 18 years ago, retired shortly after to raise her kids, returned 10 years ago), but Seductora also says the new tecnicas are not very good, so she’d like to have a mask match with one of them for the easy win. This would be very interesting if she was actually feuding with someone. She’s been matched up with Star Fire most often in her 4 CMLL matches this year.

(Record‘s version of the article includes a picture of Dallys, so maybe they need to work on the PR campaign a little more.)

Fuego en el Ring has a short profile of Goya Kong, who actually beat her previously introduced sister (Muneca de Plata) to her first official CMLL match. Sounds like she expects to be on the rudo side eventually.

Fuego also notes Texano’s match on Tuesday was his return following his suspension there. Texano says he doesn’t feel like he’s really back until he’s teaming with Terrible there.

Ovaciones has an interview with Mephisto, who wants to get a mask from Sombra & Volador, and win the CMLL Welterweight or CMLL Middleweight titles (both held by Negro Casas.) Mephisto again says he’s not giving up his NWA Welterweight title unless someone beats him in the ring for it.

As part of the typical run of local newspaper wrestling articles leading up to a WrestleMania, the Phoenix New Times has a big feature length article about the local lucha libre scene. There are about 3 different lucha promotions in the area, of the 7 local groups.

Rob has random thoughts about indies and this Friday’s show.

Cronicas Y Leyendas has articles on Anibal losing his mask, Gori Guerrero showing off his invention, and Espanto Jr. vs Hijo del Santo.

Alfredo posted the Dhani Jones vs Mascara Ano 2000 Jr. match.

Lineup

AAA CANTU (MON) 03/29 Arena Cuatro Caminos de Nuevo Laredo
1) ? & Super Boy vs Duende Maldito & Guerrero Especial
2) Fabi Apache & Poly Star vs Hija de Karonte & Sexy Star
3) May Flowers, Nygma, Yuriko vs Angeluz, El Brazo, Estrella Universal
4) Pimpinela Escarlata vs Black Mamba [NORTH LH]
5) Jack Evans, Laredo Kid, Marco Corleone vs Alex Koslov, Konnan, Zorro

Don’t think Marco is working that show.

03/27-28 Lucha Times

box

AAA: last show before Rey de Reyes, with Parka/Zorro and Mesias/Marco/Octagon vs WagnerManiacos.

52MX: Cats/Horse vs Astro/Maya/Rivera, and Fantamsa/Toscano/Valiente vs Euforia/Skandalo/Vangelis

LATV: This will be interesting; will they air the regularlly scheduled 2/3? That’s the Dos Leyendas show, which hasn’t otherwise aired. Not sure what else they’d show, and it’s not like they’ll be airing those matches on Galavision whenever they air the rest of the shows.

IWRG: It’d be Mascara Anos Father & Son/911 vs Bobby Lee Jr/Roca/Suicida and the big Cerebro/Diablo match, but they’ve been airing repeats every other week and this is that week.

——

CMLL: Lighting match is four, so it’ll air on the main show. Otherwise, it’s Felino wrestling unmasked on the Friday show for the main time.

AAA-MEX: Rey de Reyes was the only thing unaired last week, so it airs complete here. Those matches didn’t go that long, so surely some repeats from last week.

CMLL-FOX: Mistico annoys people, and one other match.

C3: Mistico annoys people, and three other matches

Puebla: Mistico annoys Voaldor in particular.

ACM: One more Cibernetico/Circus vs Legion atomicos, in case you have a desperate need to see that again.

PDM: Histeria/Pesdailla/Ragde vs Celestial/Angel/Nova for sure, maybe the Aguilita/Talisman vs Dinastia/Drastik Boy as the other?

—-

CMLL-TFN: 03/06/09 taping, if I’ve got this right.
