second Felino, Mistico/NJPW, team GDL

Clean up from Tuesday’s show: part of the finish of the Sombra/Felino match was a second person in a Felino gear showing up on the ramp. That was the distraction for both Sombra and the ref to set up the low blow. The mystery person has not been identified – CMLL just refers to him as “a representative of Peste Negra” – and I haven’t spotted any clear photo of him. The only hint is the photo from >the ESTO article, but it’s still not a clear shot. If it was simply Tiger Kid or Puma King, I would think someone would’ve identified them.

Mistico talked to Fuego en el Ring, mostly about tomorrow’s match, and mostly what he’s been saying everywhere the last couple weeks, especially on not being a tecnico or rudo. (Still, “Volador think he’s the original King of Air, but I’m the King of Air!”) Near the end, Mistico digresses, complaining about New Japan Pro Wrestling. Mistico feels disrespected that Ultimo Guerrero & Averno, two of the top wrestlers in his company, were placed in the second match of the NJPW show, while every guy from NJPW is put in top positions in Mexico. Mistico’s only satisfaction in this matter is that he did beat Tiger Mask. (FWIW, Terrible/Texano are 6th on a 9 match card in 10 days.)

Ovaciones and ESTO both have interviews with Atlantis and Mascara Dorada, who have respect for their DF opponents and their school, but vow to make sure Guadalajara wins the tournament. Atlantis says Diablo Velasco’s training was key to his career.

AAA has Lasser Boy talking about his debut tomorrow.

The anniversary of Santo’s death is tomorrow, and there’s a new book coming out, promising unseen personal photos.

While talking about his situation once more, Super Nova says he’ll only go to the WWE if he gets to keep his mask. (So he won’t be gone, then.)

Cronicas Y Leyendas has the career of Hector Guerrero and a picture of the Shadow “brothers”

Segunda Caida has 2009 IWRG awards and starts in on 2010 with KrisZ’s news update, and a new Slammin’ Stan later tonight.

Ras de Lona #83 has lots and lots of Mistico vs Volador.

02/06-8 Lucha Times

box. A couple new shows, and I’ll update this weekend when Televisa lists when their shows are actually supposed to air.

AAA-MEX: back to ‘new’ tapings, though this is the 12/18 Chilpancigo taping. WagnerManiacos vs AAA, Circus vs Legion

52MX: 2/4 means the women’s trios, and more Fantasma/Negro

IWRG: should be two title matches: Cerebro/Diablo for the lightweight (on what planet is Diablo a lightweight?) & Piratas vs Navarros for the tag team ttiles.

—-

CMLL-MEX: thinking this will actually be top four. They’re not schedulding Fantasma/Bucanero and leaving it off TV. Have they actually made it clear if the tournament final is meant to be three falls?

AAA-MEX: quick turnaround on Monday’s show, with Mesias/Morishmia and WagnerManiacos vs Legion

CMLL-FOX: moved to 5pm CT this week, with a rerun on Sunday. 3/5 gives this Poder Mexica/Okumura vs Fuego/Metro/Valiente, and the big relevos match.

C3: top 4, including Felino/Sombra (and the angle I missed and should remember to go over tomorrow.)

Puebla: probably the whole show, including the tag team title match.

Monterrey: Ninja vs Furor? I should check results. By the way, last week’s show, in complete: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=9WNJEGV8

Perros: they should be on to this past weekend’s taping, but sure what airs first. It’s only an hour slot, and they do need to stretch this for 3 weeks if the next taping isn’t until 02/20. Maybe the marquee tag match and the Super Crazy appearance.

CMLL-TFN: Sombra/Volador vs Averno/Mepshtio, and the Guerreros vs Garza/Mistico/Marco? This is old stuff.

top six stories of the last two weeks

1) Mistico might be going rudo. He definitely has an issue with Volador Jr., fouling him to advance in the regional tournament, throwing a drink in his face, and then pulling Volador’s mask off the following Sunday to win that match. They’ll face in a singles match for the first time this upcoming Friday, and Mistico has declared himself neither tecnico nor rudo.

2) Atlantis & Mascara Dorada (representing Guadalajara) and Negro Casas & La Mascara (representing Mexico City) advanced to the finals of the National Relevos Incriedble tournament.

3) Perros del Mal held their first show with El Hijo del Santo & Blue Demon Jr. (It ended in a DQ.) Despite CMLL running a special show at Arena Mexico, Perros had a strong turnout.

4) AAA held their first taping of three this week. NOAH’s Takeshi Morishima lost to Mesias in a special singles match. The Legion tried to attack the WagnerManiacos in the main event, but Pimpinela Escarlata surprisingly made the save, and may join forces with the WagnerManiacos

5) AAA held an open tryout in LA. No one was signed, but AAA talked about opening a school (and office) in the area.

6) Terrible & Texano Jr. were suspended from wrestling in Guadalajra for two months after getting into a fight with a fan.

Other notes: AAA’s movie officially premired. Lasser Boy, debuting in the movie as La Parka’s younger brother, will start soon in AAA…Among a few different title defenses, Ultimo Guerrero defeated Hector Garza to hold onto the heavyweight title…Tinieblas Sr. announced a long running retirement tour…Tzuki was fired from CMLL for no-showing.

Morgans are the new tag team champs. Rough night for the Gringos – Diablo lost in his title match, and Gringo Loco planted his head in the mat on a bad top rope 450, injuring himself and missing the rest of the match.

CMLL (TUE) 02/02 Arena Mexico [ESTO, Fuego en el Ring, CMLL]
1) Astro Boy & Trueno b Artillero & Súper Comando
2) Estrella Mágica, Lady Apache, Star Fire b La Comandante, La Seductora, Mima Shimoda
3) Fuego, Rey Cometa, Rush b Cancerbero, Loco Max, Nosferatu

5) Máscara Dorada & Místico b Misterioso II & Último Guerrero

Mistico worked as a tecnico, won clean with La Mistica. No word on the tercera DQ.

Ovaciones interviews Negro Casas & La Mascara, who respect their opponents but will not let DF finish second. When asked, Negro says Mistico might have been getting booed, but that doesn’t make him a rudo and figures he’ll go back to being a boring old tecnico.

AAA recaps the Pimpi/WagnerManiacos devolpments, and wonders if Pimpi will join the group. This has to be discussed on Slammin’ Stan.

Laredo Kid visited a local school to talk about his job and how kids need to train in a school before wrestling.

A title match in Cuernavaca was announced as for the local welterweight championship, but Estrellas del Ring noted the belt actually said “Torneo Novato de Oro 1996“. Ring announcer gamely attemped to cover by declaring they were actually fighting to see who was better in 1996.

Cronicas y Leyenda has part II of it’s look at Mil Mascaras vs Billy Graham.

Segunda Caida has more 06 & 07 Cassandro.

One lineup of note:

AAA (SAT) 02/27 Coliseo Centenario, Torreon
1) Esther Moreno & Goddess vs La Hechicera & Tiffany
2) El Dorado, Pimpinela Escarlata, Yuriko vs Rió Bravo, Tigre Cota, Tito Santana
3) Gronda II, Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr., Octagón vs Monster Clown, Murder Clown, Psycho Clown
4) Black Warrior, El Elegido, La Parka Jr. vs Dr. Wagner Jr., Electroshock, Silver King

Yep, Black Warrior. He could just be back home and working this as a one off, but since there were already rumors of Warrior joining AAA, this is probably a bit more permanent. Wagner III has been working around here when not working with the Perros, so his status is a more murky. The women in the opener still do work for AAA, though you wouldn’t know it from TV.

Regular turnout for the title match, champions retraining by taking falls 2/3. Tecnicas did not have a good night enroute to their loss. Opener was one fall.

CMLL Guerreros del Ring on CAN52 #219 (01/30/2010)

taped Arena Coliseo, 01/24/2010

Megaupload: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=WSJEHTU7

Ángel Azteca Jr., Ángel de Plata, Fabián el Gitano vs Puma King, Skándalo, Tiger Kid – fun match. I have some time, Puma King and Tiger Kid should be Arena Coliseo Tag Team champions (or at least that’s the level where those title should be), Skandalo & Plata is good, and Angel Azteca Jr. is really smooth for his experience, including that moonsault. And Fabian was perfectly acceptable!

Rush, Sagrado, Toscano vs Dragon Rojo Jr., Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca – this was a bit by the numbers, but reminded me to catch up on some Puebla TV because I’m sure I’m missing some Poder Mexica triple teams which are only hinted at here. I guess Toscano winning is better than Rouge?

New Feature: NAME THIS MOVE (after the jump, because it’s a huge GIF.)
