AAA-US: Part 2 of the best of.

52MX: Metatron and Durango Kid turn up on this show for the first time ever, and plus Averno/Mephisto/Negro vs Fantasma, Mascara, Sagrado

IWRG-TF: assuming they air a new episode (?), Block A of the tag titlte match, and Diablo/Gringo vs Terry/Cerebro

—-

CMLL: listed as the usual 2 hour slot, so it’ll probably be some of the tournament and the Garza/UG main event. No room for much else.

AAA-MEX: actual new content should start this week, with the Chilpancigo taping. This was the new Vipers debut, as well as the Circus vs the Legion

CMLL-FOX: listed as 1PM on Saturday, with a Fuerza/Angel vs Tuareg opener, and Guerreros vs Garza/Mistico/Shocker main.

C3: top 4, including a short main event.

Puebla: listed as 4pm on Satuday. Since the minis are in teh segunda, I hope that makes air. Felino/Niebla/UG vs Sombra/Shocker/Volador in the main event.

Monterrey: More of the Silver Star vs Hator promotion war?

IWRG-TVC: Listed on their schedule as Monday at 4, but that may be Perros again. If not, Angelico/Navarro should air here.

Wagner family trio, Valiente/Ephesto, AAA school in LA?

WAGNER (SUN) 01/10 Cuerva Torreon [La WagnerMania]
1) Arana del Futuro, Chamuco Trevino, Psycho b Dr. Wagner Jr., Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr., Silver King

All three Wagners. Before the match, the local Box Y Lucha commissioner brought out a cake to honor Silver King for his 42nd birthday. (Slightly different than how other commissions have reacted to him.) Their rudo opponents for the main event came out and Chamuco Trevino knocked the cake out of Silver King’s hands. Can’t have your cake and eat them too. Trevino got Hijo de Wagner in the third fall with his feet on the ropes. A bit of surprise, unless there’s bigger plans here.

CMLL (TUE) 01/19 Arena Mexico [ESTO, Fuego en el Ring]
1) Apocalipsis & Ramstein b Rayo Tapatío I & Rayo Tapatío II
2) Artillero, Disturbio, Súper Comando b Delta, Molotov, Starman
3) Hiroka, La Comandante, Yezca b Dalis la Caribeña, Estrella Mágica, Marcela
4) Blue Panther, Fuego, Hijo del Fantasma b Euforia, Pólvora, Virus
5) Felino, Naito, Rey Bucanero b Brazo de Plata, Héctor Garza, La Sombra

Almost a complete rudo night. Main event was a straight fall win for the rudos, Felino sneaking in a foul on Sombra for the win in the second fall.

CMLL (TUE) 01/19 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [Fuego en el Ring]
1) Nube Roja b Skaxy
2) Acertijo & Exterminador b Idolo & Virgo
3) Ebola & Ráfaga b Astaroth & Hierro
4) La Máscara, Metal Blanco, Stuka Jr. b Dragon Rojo Jr., Máscara Mágica, Sangre Azteca
5) Shocker & Valiente b Ephesto & Texano

A bit of a shuffle on the top two matches. Valiente was bumped up to the main event. La Mascara worked his spot in the semimain, getting Sangre with a campana.

Valiente replaced Maximo. Despite being on Ras de Lona and talking about teaming with Mr. Niebla, Maximo’s now been missing shows for two weeks. I hope this is worked out by Friday. Terrible, last seen bleeding from the nose after a match with Super Porky, was replaced by Ephesto. That might have been a planned change, because Valiente beat Ephesto in the main event and the two immediately agreed to a title match next week.

Doens’t sound like anyone was signed out of the AAA tryout yesterday. Instead, AAA told people that they’d be opening a school in Los Angeles, and some people would be called back then.

R de Rudo has it’s own recap (and video) of last Sunday’s Ecatepec’s TV taping. Read which DTU wrestlers are working the dark match.

The new commissioner of lucha libre in Juarez wants to create a new championship as his first act. I’d vote to impeach just for that.

Kcidis illustrates Ultimo Guerrero vs Hector Garza.

El Pancracio interviews Policeman, who says his actual job is “police man”. That may be 100% true but I can not believe it.

Cronicas y Leyendas starts a series on the story of Ultimo Dragon, and has a phot of the Brazos in Japan.

Segunda Caida starts it’s Complete & Accurate recap of all Cassandro taped matches with matches from AAA TV in 2007 & 2008

Luchas 2000 #504 has Rey Misterio Jr. and the AAA Movie on the cover.

CMLL (MON) 01/25 Arena Puebla
1) Centella de Oro & Lestat vs Fuerza Chicana & Policeman
2) Delta, Metálico, Starman vs Puma King, Súper Comando, Tiger Kid
3) Pegasso, Rey Cometa, Rush vs Arkangel de la Muerte, Loco Max, Skándalo
4) Máscara Dorada, Máximo, Sagrado vs Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto
5) La Sombra, Shocker, Volador Jr. vs Felino, Mr. Niebla, Último Guerrero [super libre]

Main event is a rematch of this past week.

CMLL (TUE) 01/26 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Meteoro & Nube Roja vs In Memoria & Titanio
2) Angelo & Idolo vs Thunder Boy & Virgo
3) Neutrón & Palacio Negro vs Drago & León Blanco
4) Blue Panther, La Máscara, Máscara Dorada vs Averno, Mephisto, Texano
5) Valiente vs Ephesto [CMLL LH]

First known defense since winning the title in May.

3) Aerostar, Argenis, Laredo Kid, Súper Fly vs Amnesia, Black Abyss, Histeria, Psicosis

2010 AAA TV Chart
Projected Air Date (#924)
Mexico:  02/07
US: 02/20

Clearly, the Vipers (“2.0: The War Machine” – uh oh, watch out for angry porn stars) are taking over. Whoever put together this card appears to be suffering at the hands of Amnesia. Also, I hope there’s more of an evident direction when I watch these shows than when I read about. The big angle from the previous week (Cibernetico vs the Legion, with the Clowns thrown in) is not included, though it does nicely allow for people who haven’t been on much to be on. It still looks like vacation mode, but it’s a wacky trip to the beach.

Main event is WagnerManiacos vs Legion, and those matches have been going fairly badly for the Legion side. I see Electroshock, I see Alex Koslov, I do not see good things for the foreigners here.

The last time we saw Decnnis and Guapito on TV, they were in bitter feud with Joe Lider & Nicho el Millinoario. Naturally, they’re partners now. Maybe this will be addressed on TV? Note that Crazy Boy & Extreme Tiger’s own painful break up hasn’t really been, when they’ve teamed before. This feud is far more recent.

The entire Air Force (and Aregnis – AAA implies he’s not a member) has a rare teamup on TV, because the new Vipers are four man strong and need someone to oppose. This could be fun.

The last time we saw Cinthia Moreno & Sexi Star, they were sort of feuding after Sexi Star turned on her and Cinthia joined the tecnicas. Naturally, they’re partners now and Cinthia’s back on the ruda sign. Maybe this will be addressed on TV? (I hope they introduce another Viper named Déjà Vu.) This should be a good match and we can all find out together if Fabi got a more secure cap.

The opener is quite a collection of leftovers. Zumbi is the Brazilian wrestler from the Chilpancingo taping. Mantra is back from his single appearance on the 10/30 show. Looks like he’ll continue feuding with Octagon from a safe distance. We thought Mantra might be Black Abyss, but it didn’t look that way on TV and that’s unlikely to be the case here. I had thought he might be one of the Consgrados. Since he’s teaming with Angel Mortal (first TV appearance since 2008) and Mr. Condor left AAA last year, that would narrow down the suspects to one. I guess we’ll see!

top six stories of the last two weeks

1) AAA held a press premier, and a red carpet premier for their AAA: Sin Limite de Tiempo movie. The movie opens this Friday, and AAA is very optimistic on it’s success, looking for to more than double the money that was put in. A success could open up the promotion to a much larger audience. A failure would seem to be emotionally, if not economically, heart breaking. (It’s never been said, but it’s likely Televisa is putting in a large portion of the money here, and they’d be the ones to take a loss.) AAA aired TripleMania ’09 on TV for the first time this past weekend, presumably to get more eyeballs on the show.

2) Perros del Mal announced a union with Hijo del Santo’s Todos x el Todos shows. Santo has rarely run shows domestically the last couple years, so this is actually just Perro paying for Santo and Blue Demon to come in. (No one even bothered to pretend about NWA Mexico.) Together, it gives Perros del Mal a new mask vs hair match to tease without intention of delivering. Perhaps it’ll also lead to a bump in attendance, if they can get that tease to enough fans. The first show with both sides will be 01/31.

3) First time trio Stuka Jr., Mascara Dorada and Metro upset Poder Mexica to win the vacant Mexican Trios titles. As usual with CMLL, set grouping are meaningless and championships are meant more as token trophies than ongoing storylines.

4) CMLL announced a National Tournament of lucha libre schools, which was interesting on paper but probably not in reality; all CMLL one tournaments are awful. In addition to the first block of the tournament, this Friday will see Ultimo Guerrero defending the heavyweight title against Hector Garza, for the

5) LuchandoLibre reports Black Warrior is heading to AAA, and others echo that rumor. No word from AAA yet. In other comings and going, Super Nova confirmed he signed with WWE and will head to FCW soon, Bushi finished up in IWRG and returned to AJPW, Naito returned for a limited run, and Taichi was announced as coming to CMLL for an extended period.

6) It’s still January, and everyone’s still not doing much towards the long term plan. AAA’s sole TV taping of the month was mostly status quo, pushing Cibernetico vs the Legion in the guise of the Clowns/Cibernetico teamup.

Other things:

– In Ovaciones, Sexi Star complained about Fabi Apache not actually shaving her head, despite the company still acting as if Fabi did.

– Mini Cibernetico says he stabbed no one. No one is totally sure what the story is.

– AAA held a tryout on Tuesday in LA. No one is totally sure what the story is.
