Next Week’s Lineups

Change of plans. I’ll save the links for tomorrow, which will probably be a lot of links, and just do lineups right now. Blame the Cubs for keeping me out in the heat for 4.5 hours.

CMLL (TUE) 06/23 Arena Mexico
1) Rayo Tapatio I & Rayo Tapatio II vs Carrona & Semental
2) Guerrero Maya Jr., Hijo de Ultraman, Starman vs Caligula, Hooligan, Méssala
3) Angel Azteca Jr., Angel de Oro, Fabian el Gitano vs Arkangel de la Muerte, Dr. X, Vangelis
4) Mascara Dorada, Mictlan, Sagrado vs Heavy Metal, Misterioso II, Virus
5) Hijo del Fantasma, La Mascara, La Sombra vs Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto

Looks like, instead of an actual semimain, they’re getting two segundas. I guess it is Tuesday.

IWRG (THU) 06/25 Arena Naucalpan
1) Guizmo vs Fly Star
2) Galactik & Goleador vs Epidemia & Heavy Boy
3) Chico Che, Exodia, Rigo vs Capitan Muerte, Fantasma de la Opera, Judas el Traidor
4) Negro Navarro, Trauma I, Trauma II vs Black Terry, Dr. Cerebro, Hijo de Pierroth (IWRG)
5) Angelico, Bobby Lee Jr., Olimpico vs Fuerza Guerrera, Juventud Guerrera, Ricky Cruzz

CMLL (FRI) 06/26 Arena Mexico
1) Astro Boy & Molotov vs Artillero & Zayco
2) Dark Angel, Lady Apache, Lluvia vs Amapola, Princesa Blanca, Princesa Sujei
3) Ultimo Dragoncito vs Pierrothito [lightning]
4) Maximo, Stuka Jr., Valiente vs Dragon Rojo Jr., Sangre Azteca, Shigeo Okumura
5) Blue Panther, Hector Garza, Toscano vs Ray Mendoza Jr., Tetsuya Naito, Yujiro
6) La Sombra, Mistico, Volador Jr. vs Felino, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas

Main event is a rematch from this week. For the rumors of Felino/Mistico, they still seem to be booking Negro/Mistico. Long time till September.

Looks like notVillano V got the call to pick up Dos’ bookings. That’s about a fair replacement. He’s been gone from Arena Mexico since May 8th.

Hope Ultimo Dragoncito doesn’t kill himself on an Asai moonsault this time.

Lady Apache could be Mexican Women’s champ by this time.

CMLL (SUN) 06/28 Arena Mexico
1) Hijo del Fantasma, La Mascara, Shocker vs Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto

A noon show, a special attraction to a concert. Still, don’t understand why they’d do two shows, even at this low level of participation.

CMLL (SUN) 06/28 Arena Coliseo
1) Sensei & Trueno vs Camorra & Cholo
2) Bracito de Oro, Fantasy, Shockercito vs Pequeño Damian 666, Pequeño Violencia, Pequeño Warrior
3) Flash, Pegasso, Rey Cometa vs Euforia, Nosferatu, Virus
4) Mascara Dorada, Mictlan, Valiente vs Dragon Rojo Jr., Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca
5) Blue Panther, Shocker, Toscano vs Naito, Ray Mendoza Jr., Yujiro

Shocker stays in Mexico City to work the normal show. Sure hope they don’t start teasing a Shocker/Mendoza feud.

CMLL (SUN) 06/28 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Astaroth & Hierro vs Acertijo & Angel del Mal
2) Palacio Negro & Virgo vs Azazel & Rafaga
3) Magnum & Metatron vs Mr. Trueno & Rey Trueno
4) Casanova, Metro, Stuka Jr. vs Dr. X, Satanico, Skandalo
5) Hijo del Fantasma, La Mascara, Mistico vs Felino, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas

Meanwhile, La Mascara and Hijo del Fantasma have to fly all the way out here for a 5:45 bell time. They’ve got more time than that till the main event, but they’re going to be hurrying. Wonder why they didn’t just use Volador & Sombra on one of these shows instead.

IWRG (SUN) 06/28 Arena Naucalpan
1) Chico Che & Rigo vs Carta Brava & Vampiro Metalico
2) Trauma I & Trauma II vs Capitan Muerte & Ghost Rider
3) Bobby Lee Jr., Oficial 911, Oficial AK47 vs Fantasma de la Opera, Mascara Ano 2000 Jr., Sauron
4) Black Thunder vs Freelance, Turbo, Bushi, Avisman, Suicida [cage, mask, hair]

No Freelance/Turbo match after all, at leat not yet. While the IWRG core guys are always strong suspects in a match like this, Tetsuya Bushi still has that mask that he’s probably not taking back to Japan with him. Oficials appear to be operating as tecnicos.

Meanwhile, AAA says their next tapings – following the one tonight – are Tuesday June 30th in Cuautitlan (which they’d mentioned previously), and Friday July 3rd in Queretaro (which they hadn’t.) In between now and then, they’re running a tour of Costa Rica from the 27 to the 29th, so these guys are busy. There will be some tired people on that June 30th show.

UG is Universal Champion, rest of Friday results

CMLL (FRI) 06/19 Arena Mexico [Dr. Lucha, Ovaciones, superluchas, ESTO]
1) Bengala & Sensei b Inquisidor & Semental
2) Flash, Pegasso, Rey Cometa b Arkangel de la Muerte, Hooligan, Skandalo
3) Dark Angel b Princesa Sujei [lightning]
4) Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto b La Mascara, Maximo, Sagrado
5) Hector Garza, Mistico, Volador Jr. DQ Felino, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas
6) Ultimo Guerrero b Texano Jr. [CMLL Universal, final]

Main event went about 16 minutes, with most of that being in the final fall as usual. UG got Texano clean with the Guerrero Special for the win. Usual mask/hair challenges after. Box Y Lucha has a photo of Ultimo with the belt.

Mistico jumped Pesta Negra to start their match and the tecnicos took fall one. Rudos came back to take fall two. Volador & Garza diced onto Felino & Niebla at the end of the third, and Negro yanked Mistico’s mask for the DQ.

Like the Amapola/Marcela match, Dark Angel & Princesa Sujei ended very close to the time limit.

May have the segunda wrong. Seen it both ways.

Mr. 105
Mr. 105

The book “Iris Wildthyme and the Celestial Omnibus” includes a short story called “Iris Wildthyme y Señor Cientocinco contra los Monstruos del Fiesta” – see the picture over there. He’s Mr. 105 because it takes place back at during the Mexico City Olympics in 1968. That does sound like someone would’ve either teamed with or fought at Matematico.

Gotta be elsewhere, so lineups and more sometime this evening, I think.

preview for tonight, Mistico to mass, Ciber back to AAA?

Today’s Arena Mexico show

CMLL (FRI) 06/19 Arena Mexico
1) Bengala & Sensei vs Inquisidor & Semental
2) Arkangel de la Muerte, Hooligan, Skandalo vs Flash, Pegasso, Rey Cometa
3) Dark Angel vs Princesa Sujei [lightning]
4) La Mascara, Maximo, Sagrado vs Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto
5) Hector Garza, Mistico, Volador Jr. vs Felino, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas
6) Texano Jr. vs Ultimo Guerrero [CMLL UNIVERSAL]

previews: ESTO, ESPNDeportes, Ovaciones, Luchando Libre

Averno sees the title match as the next step in their plan to destroy the Guerreros forever, and threatens to send UG and Atlantis to the hospital just like Ephesto sent Rey.

Had a lot of thoughts about the main event, but they’re not coming to me now. I think the decision for who wins the main is based on what CMLL decides needs to be established more – a new top rudo or a new title. Early on, it made more sense to me to make the title, so that when someone like Texano won it down the road, it actually meant something. That was before it this title was mentioned as a once a year title – it’s not going to be AAA’s mega title – and before Dos took off. If it’s just going to be that meaningless from tomorrow on, then CMLL might as well do something meaningful with it tonight by having Texano go over.

UG’s already a couple weeks away from getting a another title match win to prove he’s the best – he’ll probably beat Shocker for the heavyweight title whenever they run the next Tuesday Fan Appreciation show. This is just another win for UG, this would be a big meaningful win for Texano. He’s got three hairs wins since coming to CMLL, but they’ve come in Puebla, at the end of a cage match, and in GDL. Both his more recent title wins were in Guadalajara, so what triumphant he’s had haven’t made TV. (Before this tournament, the only Arena Mexico singles match he had was the final of the G1 Junior tournament, which I forgot existed until now.)

The concern about this I had last week was kinda the same reason why it’d be meaningful – Texano hasn’t beat anyone important, so it’s a big story telling that suddenly he can defeat Ultimo Guerrero in one night, while not making it look like Texano was just given a win.

(I’m also not totally sure CMLL would do a Texano win in a meaningful way – thinking back just to a few weeks ago with the Averno/Blue Panther finish, where Averno hit 2 Devil’s Wings and Panther would’ve lost nothing by losing, but instead kicked out and they did a completely worthless distraction spot for the pin five seconds later. Do the same here, and you’re wasting a big win.)

Probably stopped making sense at least three paragraphs ago. I think I’d like to see Texano win, but expect UG to win, and just hope for a good match either way. What do you think?

Special guest at the show today: SpongeBob, celebrating his 10th anniversary in July.

Mistico’s fifth anniversary celebratory march to church did not occur without issues. He was
prohbitted from entering the church with his mask on, which you would think someone would check before doing this bit. It was all worked out and he was permitted to go in with his mask. Besides that, it sounds like it went well. Mistico was accompanied by fans, and wrestlers – Dr. Karonte, Astro Boy, and (strangely) Averno and Mephisto. For so many reasons, that makes no sense and perfect CMLL sense. Record add Sagrado, Brazo de Oro and Brazo de Platino to the list, and counts the fans as 100. ESTO’s article is so great because it not only mentions his pre-Mistico gimmicks but it also notes him winning the Wrestling Observer Newsletter Wrestler of the Year award.

(via SickMistico @ box y lucha) Dr. Morales column in Record says Cibernetico will return to AAA promptly, because he’s not making money as an independent. I guess we’ll know Saturday.

Mesias will be signing autographs for winners on the AAA website before tomorrow’s taping. Billy Boy will be nowhere.

SuperLuchas is running a contest: suggest Dos’ debut angle for WWE. The winner will be picked by Dos, so suggesting “just randomly thrown out on TV with no build up” probably won’t win.

Demon, Santo, and Mil are threatening to sue Airwave gum for using their images in an internet game to sell the gum.

Luchando Libre notes Matt Cross‘s mySpace says he’s in Mexico until the 24th. AAA?

Kcidis has a great cartoon of Wagner.

Ohtani’s Jacket checks out matches from 06/01/09 Puebla and IWRG 06/04/09

CMLL (MON) 06/22 Arena Puebla
1) Asturiano & Centella de Oro vs Espiritu Maligno & Sauron
2) Amapola, Mima Shimoda, Yezca vs Estrella Magica, Lady Apache, Sahori
3) Flash, Pegasso, Stuka Jr. vs Arkangel de la Muerte, Loco Max, Skandalo
4) Hector Garza, La Sombra, Volador Jr. vs Felino, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas
5) Mephisto, Terrible, Texano Jr. vs La Mascara, Shocker, Toscano

IWRG, Puebla, GDL, latest on Dos Jr.

IWRG (SUN) 06/14 Arena Naucalpan [the gladiatores]
1) Comando Negro b Fly Star
2) Exodia & Goleador b Azoka & Osiris
3) Avisman, Black Thunder, Tetsuya Bushi b Freelance, Suicida, Turbo
4) Arlequin, Arlequin Rojo, Arlequin Verde b Pendulo, Trauma I, Trauma II
5) Mascara Ano 2000 Jr., Ricky Cruzz, Veneno b Angelico, Oficial 911, Zatura

Oficial 911 replaced Negro Navarro for whatever reason, and surprisingly didn’t just turn on his teammates. Rudos took the first, tecnicos took the second but Zatura hurt himself on the dive. Rudos destroyed the two remaining tecnicos, Mascara bloodying 911 while the other two beat Angelico. Oficial AK47 made the post match save, and various Jr. Dinamiatas/Oficials matches were proposed.

In the semimian, Arlequin (Yellow, the original) snuck in a foul on Trauma II for the final win. Freelance and Turbo didn’t get along their whole match. Suicida tried to keep it together, but they lost the first and then fell apart in the second. Freelance was with the rudos post match, making up with old friend/rival Avisman. Comando Negro swept the opener.

The Gladiatores also has a video interview with Groon XXX, who seems to have all that muscle mass back and a text interview with Espartano I

CMLL (MON) 06/15 Arena Puebla [KrisZ]
1) Ares, Espiritu Maligno, Siki Osama b Black Tiger, Blue Center, Centella de Oro
2) Pequeño Universo 2000, Pequeño Warrior, Pierrothito b Bam Bam, Pequeño Olímpico, Shockercito
3) Blue Panther, Sagrado, Shocker b Naito, Texano Jr., Yujiro
4) Hector Garza, La Sombra, Volador Jr. b Felino, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas
5) Ultimo Guerrero DQ Averno

CMLL (TUE) 06/16 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [Fuego en el Ring, MT]
3) Rey Trueno b Palacio Negro
4) Gallo & Metatron DQ Mascara Magica & Satanico
5) Dark Angel, Lady Apache, Zeuxis b Amapola, Princesa Blanca, Princesa Sujei
6) Atlantis & Mephisto b Hector Garza & Maximo

Atlantis replaced Dos here. Tecnicas won their match in two falls so, naturally, Princesa Blanca gets a title shot next week.

People mentioning Dos Jr. to WWE: ESTO (also Wagner), Fuego en el Ring (who says their were rumors as much the last couple of days when Dos didn’t show), Cesar (who says this prove Dos is a superstar, and is also looking forward to a Dos vs Hart Foundation or Koslov match) and Luchando Libre Record is the only one working off a new interview; everyone else seems to be using the SuperLuchas story or old interviews (and some of those Dos quotes in Record may be old, because they’re similar to the one Fuego pulls from an old interview.)

Where there’s chaos, there’s opportunity: if CMLL can no longer do Dos vs Shocker at anniversary, Ultimo Guerrero would be more than happy to take Dos’ place in that match and settle his rivalry with Shocker once and for all. Shocker sounds up for it too. They’ll be surely be having a title match in a few weeks, which may help determine things.

Texano Jr. figures he’ll not only be the underdog in skills tomorrow, but the crowd will also be against him and for Ultimo Guerrero. The tail end of the article mentions the current plan for the Universal title is to defend it once a year (so it’s another Leyenda de Plata, only for champs?)

Dragon Rojo Jr. says the mini tour of Switzerland and Belgium went well. Cesar points to pictures and video of the guys in Brussels.

Electroshock insists the Legion losing at TripleMania was just a small stumble, and they’ll be back on top soon.

Rene Guajardo Jr. is out eight weeks with a foot injury.

Lucha and boxing promoters in Sinola are complaining about the local taxes. They have to pay 3,500 to rent the building, plus 8% of the total revenue (and also paint the building.) That came to 11,000 last time ($818.84US), in addition to the free tickets given to the city council, who they’re hoping will lower those fees a bit.

The Viva La Lucha magazine series, which had the bad timing to debut during the flu, gets a write up in ESTO today.

Blue Demon Jr & Incognito are scheduled to appear a free outdoor show in Toronto on July 18 and 19th.

Ultimo Dragoncito is said to be working next weekend’s lucha va voom show.

Starting Saturday, an art gallery in Austin, Texas has is exhibiting a mask collection and other art work.

Over on mySpace, SeanOfTheDead writes about going to Tuesday’s Arena Mexico show and his favorite wrestler, Maximo.

No Ovaciones today?

LuchaWorld has Robert on Rey de Reyes ’08 and CMLL TV 03/29/08 and KrisZ’s news update

PERROS (SAT) 06/20 Coliseo Olimpico de Universidad de Guadalajara [La WagnerMania]
1) Intocable, Olimpico, Super Porky vs Cibernetico, Head Hunter I, Super Crazy
2) Dr. Wagner Jr. vs el Hijo del Perro Aguayo

CMLL’s running their anniversary show here on Sunday, so the Perros have slightly dodged them for once. Of course, only hearing about this show two days prior does not sound promising. Also, scheduling Dr. Wagner for a show the same night he’s supposed to be main eventing an AAA TV taping on the other side of the country, probably not going to work out too well.

CMLL (TUE) 06/23 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [Fuego en el Ring]
1) Novato vs Relampago
2) Idolo vs Rafaga
3) Palacio Negro vs Saturno
4) Casanova vs Asesino Negro
5) Mascara Magica & Satanico vs Metal Blanco & Neutron
6) Lady Apache vs Princesa Blanca [MEX WOMEN]
7) Blue Panther, Toscano, Volador Jr. vs Naito, Shigeo Okumura, Yujiro

Okumura finally gets to team with No Limit. I’m thinking no title change.

06/17 AAA TV Results (Ecatepec)

AAA TV (WED) 06/17 Centro Civico de Ecatepec, EdM [AAA]
1) Argenis, Atomic Boy, Laredo Kid b Rio Bravo, Tigre Cota, Tito Santana II
2) Gato Eveready, Pimpinela Escarlata, Ultimo Gladiador b Pasion Kristal, Polvo de Esterllas, Yuriko
3) Decnnis & Sexy Star b Aerostar & Fabi Apache and Cinthia Moreno & Oriental
4) Joe Lider & Nicho el Millionario b Crazy Boy & Extreme Tiger
5) Electro Shock, Silver King, Teddy Hart b Jack Evans, La Parka Jr., Mesias

2009 AAA TV Chart
Projected Air Date (#893)
Mexico: 06/21
US:  07/11

The big news is Konnan is indefinitely suspended by Joaquin Roldan. There’s not much detail about it.

There’s also nothing said about why Decnnis is in Billy Boy’s spot, but I think recent events explain that one.

Atomic Boy is now a full time normal sized wrestler. Laredo beat Tito for the win in that match.

AAA lists this a Pasion Kristal’s debut – which would be his second. Gato got Yuriko for the pin in that match.

Rudos worked together against Fabi and Aerostar. Aerostar hurt his ankle on a dive attempt – he was about to go off the the corner onto Oriental when Cinthia shoved him to the floor. Cinthia picked up the pin on Fabi when she was caught alone, then Decnnis beat Oriental.

Hermandad beat Crazy & Tiger, who got along. Alex and Rocky ran in post match, first going after Nicho & Lider, then Alex went after Tiger. There’s been talk about DMex going rudo and they’ve definitively been hinting that direction.

Jack’s big main event = lost clean to Electro. Of course. Maybe it looks better on TV.

Next taping is Saturday.

06/20-21 Lucha Times

box. A couple changes this week. Times are all normal.

AAA: Finals of the cruiserweight tournament, better known as “the finish they gave away last week, because AAA is really bad at producing episodic television.” Plus Wagner (and Parka) vs Silver King (and Cuervo), and Latin/Marco vs Lider/Kenzo.

52MX: I think Maximo/Sagrado/Valiente vs Misterioso/Okumura/Virus and Garza/Mistico/Toscano vs Averno/Mephisto/Texano.

LATV: Now that I’m accepting it’ll be reruns, I can tell you this is the one from January 10th, with yet another women’s trios, Azteca/Puma in the lightning match, and Terrible/Texano/Virus vs Dorada/Sagrado/Valiente in the main event.

CMLL: Universal tournament, Mistico vs Pesta Negro, and Hijo vs Mascara/Maximo/Sagrado

AAA-MEX: I dunno! It’s happening right now! There are probably light tubes being broken as I’m typing this. Lineup says Jack and Teddy’s feud goes to the main event, as they team with Parka & Mesias vs Electro & Silver King, plus there’s a three way mixed tag below. Could be a very interesting show.

FOX: Guessing Infernales/Vangelis vs Flash/Pegasso/Cometa, plus grab of Ephesto/Metal/Lizmark vs Panther/Mictlan/Sagrado. CMLL has so many people, you could have quite the big stable of people just lost in the shuffle, and they’ve go the starts of one on the tecnico side.

C3: Shocker/UG feud continues, admits mostly other random matchups.

Puebla: I will guess no No Limit. Definitely going to see Ultimo Guerrero vs Averno in the main event, and probably Pesta Negra vs Garza/Sombra/Volador

MONTERREY: By request – Circus vs Dark Family, Mascara Purpura vs hero of TripleMania chat X-Fly, and Hombre sin Miedo vs Pierko el Boricua
