10/04: Mexico, lineups

CMLL (FRI) 10/03 Arena Mexico [SuperLuchas, Ovaciones, Aficion]
1) Molotov & Trueno DQ Artillero & Súper Comando
2) Bam Bam, Mascarita Dorada, Último Dragoncito DQ Pequeño Damian 666, Pequeño Halloween, Pequeño Warrior
3) Black Warrior, Felino, Olimpico b Alex Koslov, Mictlán, Valiente
4) La Máscara, La Sombra, Marco Corelone b Lizmark Jr., Negro Casas, Rey Bucanero
5) Blue Panther, Dr. Wagner Jr., Héctor Garza b Atlantis, Mr. Niebla, Último Guerrero

Bad attendence, which Ovaciones blames on WWE on TV Azteca. I think it’d still be in a post Anniversary hangover, but it may be both.

Tecnicos won the first fall clean, then second fall by DQ when Ultimo fouled Panther. Ultimo challenged him Panther to a mask vs hair match after. Garza got hurt in this match.

That wasn’t specifically agreed to, but Marco and Lizmark did agree to a hair match after Corelone won their latest match. No date was announced. As noted in the comments, Bucanero replaced Dragon Rojo, which seems a bit suspicious with SD! on Azteca and Dragon Rojo showing up as Diamante Negro last weekend.

Though I guess we’d really know if he just showed up as Diamante Negro here, which he did not. And four out of the six guys in the tercera were changed from what had been originally announced, so something else was obviously going on. Valiente landing face first on the apron on Sunday and working both Tuesday and Friday shows (plus who knows how many more) is quite something. Olimpico and Rey Bucanero being added to this show after being on that poll is interesting.

Yesterday, Panico said CMLL was planning to talk to Shocker about coming back in about two weeks. Not sure that’s happening now. Panico also says CMLL plan on more 75th Anniversary celebration shows.

Noroeste says they know who will be the members of D-Generation-Mex: one indepedent guy, and one who’s been in trios in CMLL. Which doesn’t narrow it down at all! Also in the useless AAA info department, they put up a list of AAA stars signing autographs at various car service places. They tell you who, on which day, but they don’t tell you actually when or where these places are. Good luck!

KrisZ’s news update from yesterday is up.

Funny how this is the fourth straight main event with the guy who LOST his mask. Everyone’s on pause anyway – no hair match this week.

10/03: AAA’s big jump revealed?, IWRG, NWA Mexico

La Orjea had a panel of AAA wrestlers on to discuss whether wrestling is real or fake. According to the article, those on the panel were Octagon, Super Porky, Cibernetico, Mesias, Konnan and Shocker. Yes, Shocker. Perhaps we know who’s the big surprise on Sunday.

If this is correct, that means – as you’ll see below – Shocker not only convinced IWRG to run a multi-week main event angle around he and Zumbido stopping the feud and teaming up again only take off before they actually team up, but Shocker will also be no-showing a charity show to make to AAA TV. Burn, bridges, burn!

BTW, AAA’s time has changed yet again: the website says it’s 2h30m now.

6) Dr. Wagner Jr., Juventud Guerrera, Shocker b Head Hunter I, Mascara Ano 2000 Jr., Zumbido

Zumbido was turning tecnico during this match, so the rudos pretty much failed. After the match, Zumbido and Shocker announced they were teaming up now and challenged the Jr. Capos for a tag team title shot.

Oficials now hold the IWRG IC and Mexico State trios titles.

Cerebros snuck in fouls on the Gemelos to take the third match.

AAA (TUE) 09/30 Parque Revolucion de Culiacan [noroeste]
3) Kempo Dragon, Monster Truck, Relampago b Doberman, Mario el Desalmado, Psiclope [Copa Culiacan 477]

Rudos (who had Arturo Rivera with them) snuck in a foul on the Cibernetico. In the triangle tag match, Lider/Nicho were first out. Attendence is listed as 3,000.

AAA (MON) 10/27 Parque Revolucion de Culiacan
1) Octagoncito & Sexy Star vs Mini Abismo Negro & Tiffany
2) Cuervo & Ozz vs Abismo Negro & La Parka Jr.

Again, Abismo and Tiffany showing up.

Tonight: Ovaciones hypes Niebla/Wagner. Someone should! ESTO goes with Panther/UG. Notimex goes with both.

AAA says La Hechicera will be out a month with a leg injury. Good to know that, but out of all the injuries and disappearances in the last six months, they only one they feel like publicizing is La Hechicera.

SoloLuchas talks to Hooligan, who has the most generic future plans possible for a luchador. (He’s like to win something! He’d like to move up the card!) His son, a fan of rock music, came up with the idea for the gimmick. Hooligan also celerbates the Santos winning the championship. This article finds a way to mention La Alianza, so Cesar Cruz Garcia must be a lurker in the comments. There’s no other way.

NWA Mexico gets some decent coverage: Luchando Libre explains the concept of the NWA. Blue Demon Jr. hypes up the show in ESTO, also mentioning that Santo’s not coming back until December (they’re worried about oversaturation.) SoloLuchas starts their article this way, according to the translation

The day after the Blue Demon got rid of a group of zombies who had a sunny kindergarten near his gallery and withstood the charms of female vampire that bothered him all night

NWA Mexico president is a tough job!

Gato Eveready & Hijo del Pirata Morgan will be on the Deportes 830 station at 8pm on Sunday.

Luchando Libre writes about Dos Caras Jr. going to WWE.

SuperLuchas posts video of Argentina’s 100% Lucha and about Campeones de Lucha Libre. SoloLuchas talks to Dragon Rojo Jr. talks about the movie. “They should not think that the film is based on my life, but rather represents an adventure that many of us, both wrestlers and fans at some point in our lives we imagined when we were kids.”

The Gladiatores also catches up with former wrestler Bello Adan/the Rose, who’s now a mask seller outside of Arena Mexico, and had photos from the DF New Wrestler Licensing Evalutation from Arena Coliseo.

CMLL (MON) 10/06 Arena Puebla
1) Lestat & Toro Bill vs Espiritu Maligno & Zigma
2) Bam Bam, Fantasy, Último Dragoncito vs Fire, Mr. Aguilita, Pequeño Black Warrior
3) Axxel, Flash, Metalik vs Skandalo, Vangelis, Virus
4) Hijo del Fantasma, La Máscara, Volador Jr. vs Mr. Niebla, Rey Bucanero, Sangre Azteca
5) Dos Caras Jr., Héctor Garza, Marco Corelone vs Atlantis, Negro Casas, Último Guerrero

You know, being this is CMLL, I wouldn’t be totally surprised if Dos just worked that show anyway. But I’m thinking not.

A play opening up tonight in Xalapa: Mascara contra cabellera.

10/03 overnight update

Dos Caras Jr. to WWE

Dos Caras Jr. expects to sign with WWE tomorrow or Saturday, and he’s got no problem ripping CMLL on the way out the door.

If you recall, back when this story first broke, it was right before CMLL announced the CMLL Spain tour. At the time, Dos intimated the news getting out had caused some issues in his relationship Paco Alonso and CMLL Management. Turns out, once CMLL found out Dos was talking with WWE, the relationship was done. Dos stuck around to work out the rest of his contracted dates, but it sounds like there were very hurt feelings on both sides. Dos rips management without really being specific, saying they’re “doing bad things” (poor communication seems to be an issue), blaming CMLL for general discontent with the locker room.

Dos makes it clear that he fully planned on leaving the CMLL Heavyweight Title with CMLL on his way out, because it’s their title. It doesn’t sound CMLL was particularly interested in getting it back, or having him drop it in a title. “CMLL has no rivals for me to defend this belt.” I don’t think he’s saying no one in CMLL is on his level, it’s that CMLL hasn’t had any challenge him.

Dos is looking at doing farewell to Mexico shows in Tijuana and SLP. He’s done in Arena Mexico. No start date for WWE is mentioned, and it’s still impossible to figure.

A couple points to make
– Sicodelico Jr.’s almost positively going to CMLL as well.
– doesn’t sound CMLL made any attempt to keep him
– if CMLL knew Dos was going, why did they give him a spot on the anniversary show? That seems extremely dumb, there surely would’ve been someone else thrilled to have the spot.
– I think the Lizmark/Corelone feud was planned to have a hair match blowoff – it seems headed that way, and it seems like there’s people booking for the own day of the week shows without any knowledge of what else is going with only occasional oversight or communication – but they might as well might that title match then doing a pointless tournament. The belt means zero right now, don’t waste time on deciding a new champ.

Of course, Dos might not be the only done here…

AAA teases a CMLL jump

Just in case they remove it, here’s the poll currently on AAA’s site:

luchalibreaaa.com
luchalibreaaa.com

They’re asking which one of these guys will be the big surprise on AAA’s show this Sunday. They can worm out of it or even just ignore it later, but at the moment, they’re pretty much saying one of these four guys is showing up at the TV taping.

why it won’t be them:
– Tarzan Boy and Shocker are currently independent guys, but both who’ve expressed a strong desire to return to CMLL. Shocker’s said as much in the last week.
– Olimpico and Rey Bucanero are working for CMLL; there’s no telling if they’re actually under a contracted, but they surely have contracted dates.

why it will be them:
– Tarzan’s been on the outside a long time and probably could use the steady employment. Shocker didn’t say he wouldn’t go back to AAA when he asked.
– Rey Bucanero has been the subject of quite a few AAA jump rumors since his tecnico turn
– Olimpico was ticked to be off the anniversary show

where they’re supposed to be on Sunday
– Olimpico is part of a tag tourny in GDL
– Shocker headlines the Scorpio benefit show at Arena Emilano Zapata
– Rey Bucanero wrestled last Sunday, and has no known future matches. Doesn’t mean he’s absolutely not working, just not in a show that’s on our radar. (Odd factoid: he’s only worked Coliseo, Mexico and Puebla this month, so he may not be working small shows.)
– Tarzan works the NWA Mexico show on Saturday, but has nothing for Sunday.

what impact they’d make
– Olimpico: little. Taking Niebla’s role is probably the best to hope for, and can’t imagine him as a tecnico
– Rey Bucanero: moderate, depending on how quick they lose interest
– Tarzan Boy: same – can’t seem to find much to do with Alan Stone, what are they going to do with an older version one the jump wears off?
– Shocker: moderate, because it’d be hard to trust him at this point

If I had to pick any of them, I’d guess Tarzan Boy because he’s probably given up on waiting for CMLL. But, my real pick is none of the above. It might be some other outsider (surprised they didn’t throw in Black Warrior, though a ex-WWE to capitalize on RAW moving in would make more sense), but I think this is mostly done to cause rumors, speculation, and discontent inside of CMLL. It’ll be the buzz of the internet and people will be ticked if it’s not a jump, but this is going be something much more known to people inside the business than the average fan watching AAA when this taping airs next weekend. The speculation isn’t going sell tickets or increase ratings, but it’s going to tick off CMLL and AAA’s always counting that as a win.

This is also a brilliant way to take the spotlight off AAA acknowledging their timeslot is being moved and cut. And this sucks for the guys named who aren’t jumping.

Let’s take a moment to note how hilarious/CMLL-rific it would be for Bucanero to jump, and CMLL to lose it’s Heavyweight and Light Heavyweight champion in one weekend. If I had any faith in NWA Mexico to do better, forget the idea I suggest yesterday afternoon – they should just point out how much a joke titles are in CMLL, how titles go seasons (or years!) without being defending, say they’re not champions worth recognizing, and move on.

CMLL puts date to Goddess/Princesa Sujei mask match

CMLL (TUE) 10/07 Arena Mexico [the Punisher Wagner @ el Martinete]
1) Apocalipsis & Ramstein vs Angel de Oro & Astro Boy
2) Hijo del Faraon, Metálico, Tigre Blanco vs Bronco III, Euforia, Nosferatu
3) Ephesto, Misterioso II, Vangelis vs Hijo del Fantasma, La Máscara, La Sombra
4) Goddess vs Princesa Sujei [mask]
5) Heavy Metal, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas vs Blue Panther, Dr. Wagner Jr., Héctor Garza

This is CMLL’s first Tuesday show of the month, so it’ll be a discount show. That’s also probably why the mask match is happening this week as well as the other better than usual matches. CMLL determines success by the number of people in Arena Mexico seats; even with as underpaid the guys are, this particular show surely can not be making them money, but if it looks decent for once they’ll probably be happy.

I feel pretty safe picking Sujei. Well, I’d feel pretty safe picking Sujei, because having Goddess beating Sujei would make as much sense as Villano V beating Blue Panther and we sure found that one out.

Regardless, this probably isn’t the losers farewell – Diana la Cazadora worked the next week and twice more after her hair match. Even if Goddess is headed back to Canada, they’ll surely keep her around for a week so everyone can see her unmasked.

CMLL FSE #104 (08/03)

(thanks for the assist!)

video fixed!

taped 07/27, aired 08/03

Despite the referee confusing everyone, despite Loco Max being the world’s worst cornerman (seriously, what the heck), this title match was still a pretty good match. I put the hair match ahead of it, but I give both lots of credit for working two different singles matches in a short time. Most guys seem to be working the same exact match with everyone, these two figured out how to do different things with the same opponent.

Uploaded by thecubsfan

Is there an advantage because they’re paired more often than open weight guys who’d be feuding? I do know that I’m voting Pequeno Damian 666 as my luchador of the year unless someone gives me a good opposing reason.

Alex & Grey are MAGIC, but I’ve got another show where I can go off on that in great length.

(I’m setting this to post while I’m off watching the Game. If anyone wants to turn this into another thread about how minis don’t draw on FSE without also providing mountains of actual evidence and zero antecodes – which has absolutley nothing to do with any content in this post – you are risking being an easy target for an aggigated man. BEWARE!)

10/02: Juarez, NWA Mexico, Monterery

Ovaciones talks to Tony Rivera, who says Loco Max is a dangerous opponent who he’s going to defeat. Tony hopes this win will move him up in CMLL (noting he’s been there 10 years) and would like Satanico next.

Ángel Azteca Jr. & Sombra de Plata beat Semental & Zayco in Tuesday’s opener. Now you know!

AAA (SUN) 09/28 Poliforo Juan Gabriel, Juarez [thanks to albert cerda]
1) Espectro III & Hermes b ? & Rey Halcon
2) Maquina 45 Jr. & Samuray b Chucky & Rey America
3) Cinta de Oro, Pirata Morgan Sr., Rey Guerrero b Gato Eveready, Magno, Takeda
4) Killer Clown, Psycho Clown, Zombie Clown DQ El Alebrije, Octagón, Super Porky
5) Cibernetico & La Parka Jr. b Kenzo Suzuki & Mesias

Show drew much better than the last CMLL show here – this was close to the sell out. (CMLL is back here with Park vs Wagner on 10/12.)

Princesa Sujei: likes punching Canadians/CMLL
Princesa Sujei: likes punching Canadians/CMLL

In the semimain, they did a finish where Porky fouled a clown, covered him, and got the three to end the undefeated streak (big reaction), but the referee changed his mind and awarded the DQ.

At the Arena Cuatro Caminos show, Parka Jr. met with a kid suffering from leukemia. Sounds like Laredo Kid and the local promoter set it up.

AAA says Psicosis (II) is heading to Germany on 11/01. Not sure who for. There’s gotta be someone from cagematch.de reading this who knows.

SuperLuchas says NWA Mexico is setting up a Adam Pearce vs Blue Demon for the NWA World Heavyweight for a future sure. That sounds about right for the third show, and I’m sure we’ll know after this week’s show. Speaking of, El Dandy wants to face Demon in a retirement match, defeat him (of course), and take over NWA Mexico. Blue Demon notes they normally go with mask versus hair, and if Dandy still wants one after their singles match enough to sign a contract, he will too.

Sticking with NWA Mexico but on the other end of the spectrum, SuperLuchas has a reall good interview with Black Spider. Spider is NWA Mexico’s “techinical advisor”, which basically means he’s the one in charge of deciding which guys get in their school (of 60 who tried, half were cut) and which of those get on to their shows. Skayde’s teaching at this school, Black Thunder, Turbo and Suicida are among those training here.

Confirming what was mentioned by Suicida last week, they’re planning on running a NWA Lightweight tournament at the next NWA Mexico show. (This would dovetail with Pearce/Demon for the Heavyweight title nicely, because you get to have NWA Officals on hand to make the new title nice and offical.) I am surprised that it’s going to be an NWA *World* Lightweight Championship; seeing as they’re unhappy with the other weight division titles being in Mexico for all time, why would they do the same thing agian?

And yes, there’s the usual “Demom COULD strip the CMLL holders of the NWA titles” bit. Since CMLL has now been using those titles without any concern for the NWA’s approval for decades already, I don’t think they’d react at all if they said anything (and it’d be a confusing lawsuit if they want that route.) The only way I can see this working – besides the obvious of CMLL champions working NWA shows – is if they set some public deadline for Averno, Sombra and Atlantis to defend their titles against an NWA approved challenger. CMLL still probably wouldn’t care, but NWA Mexico gets to publicly act like they tried to make this work and maybe a few days of articles about the promotion if they hype it right. You’ve got to make your empty gestures look like they mean something (that is the essence of professional wrestling.)

Do I get points for naming the NWA champions off the top of my head? I think I do! Does Atlantis even know he’s champion?

Marco Corelone says it’s about time to have the hair mask with Lizmark Jr.

indy (TUE) 09/30 Arena Coliseo Monterrey [RFC]
1) Bom Bom & Dama de Hierro b Angelica & Cybergata
2) Mini Tiger Universitario b Chico de Barrio & Coquito Amarillo
3) Karonte & Panthro b Black Soul & Kahoma Jr.
4) 5X & Rey Apostol b Golden Boy & Papichulo and Hermano Diablo I & Hermano Diablo II [UXF TAG]

This was the final, following up semifinal matches from 3 weeks ago.

indy (THU) 10/02 Arena Olimpico Laguna de Gomez Palacio [el siglo de torreon]
1) Camorra & Oso Negro Jr. vs Aguila Negra & Espacial
2) Brilalnte & Tackle vs Arana Cibernetica I & Arana Cibernetica I
3) Piloto Negro, Piloto Suicida, Sexy Piscis vs Chamuco Trevino, Escriba, Sexy Libra
4) Stuka I vs Mr. Guerrero [Coahuila LH]

Stuka’s defending this title here for the first time, but he’s done some with it in Torreon. The article lists it as the North Light Heavyweight championship but I think it’s the same title. And that’s your day in obscure regional titles.

SCORPIO TRIBUTE (SUN) 10/05 Arena Emiliano Zapata [LuchandoLibre]
1) Mini Flecha Verde vs Babe Star
2) King Dragon & Super Mayito vs Flecha Verde & Macho Jr.
3) Caramelo & Rey Fenix vs Alucin & Coyote Dorado
4) Carta Brava & Carta Brava Jr. vs Rambo Jr. & Super Colt
5) Halcon Diabolico I & Halcon Diabolico II vs Electrodo Jr. & Meteoro Kid [Emiliano Zapata TAG]
6) Emilio Charles Jr., Rambo, Shocker vs Máscara Sagrada, Super Muneco, Villano III

Another Scorpio benefit show.

LuchaWorld has Robert one two episodes of July ’06 CMLL TV:

It’s only a matter of time before someone realizes “WTF, we’ve been booking Panther as a tecnico for the last 3 years?!?!?!?!?!”.

KrisZ’s news update is up too.
