08/26: Villano V, Shocker out, CMLL Spain

Ovaciones has a follow up on technically the most important injury in CMLL right now, Villano V. His doctor told him to sit out four weeks, but he’s coming back in 10 days (so next Friday.) Villano III (Sunday) and Villano IV (Friday) replaced him last week and will continue to for the moment.

ESTO’s article on Mistico & Garza’s injury says Mistico could be out four to six months. That’s no good. Also, there’s a note that Shocker will be out Tuesday and Friday. “The press department of CMLL reported that he was injured, although they are unaware of his problem.” That sounds like Abismo Negro.

Updated main event for Friday:
6) Blue Panther, Dos Caras Jr., Dr. Wagner Jr. vs Black Warrior, Mr. Niebla, Rey Bucanero

That really should not be the main event. Garza and Shocker are still listed for tonight’s main event.

Arkangel hurt his right shoulder. But kept going. It got hurt more the next day, and it may be dislocated.

CMLL (FRI) 08/22 Av. de la Plaza de Toros, S.S. de los Reyes, Madrid
1) Astro Boy & Metálico b Artillero & Hooligan
2) Loco Max, Nitro, Súper Comando b Flash, Metalik, Molotov
3) Fabián el Gitano, Stuka Jr., Valiente b Arkangel de la Muerte, Euforia, Nosferatu
4) Atlantis, Olímpico, Virus b Felino, Hijo del Fantasma, La Máscara
5) Dos Caras Jr., Heavy Metal, Máximo vs Damián 666, Lizmark Jr., Mr. Águila

I don’t know that the second match actually occurred like that, but no second match is listed and all those guys aren’t listed and Metalik got hurt, so I did the math. Props to Metalik for waiting to the last day of the tour to get taken away in ambulance and not leaving everyone short handed earlier. Nitro also suffered a dislocated shoulder.

WWE (and NWE) wrestling is viewed as a circus when they come to Spain, and so was CMLL, and no one really get hurts. Considering how those last two days went, the wrestlers weren’t happy the fans thought that. Madrid was said to be the best attended show of the tour.

They’re still talking about doing another tour in October (and December), including Mistico, Perro and Wagner. By my math, Mistico won’t be healthy by then, Perro probably won’t, and Wagner has his own schedule. They ought not to bother doing this again without Mistico or Perro, but they really need to focus on getting some better promotion (like getting their TV show on the air) before anything else.

Again, we can find results from Spain and there are no results from Arena Coliseo, two days ago.

CMLL’s Blog posted photos from the tour.

An El Siglo de Torreon article talking about Stuka in Spain talks about it being a success while using all pre-tour quotes. I guess that’s the way you can do it.

Zombie Clown interview. Zombie says the reason they haven’t been on TV as much is because they just happen to busy on those days, elsewhere in the country. I love how Killer Clown’s trainer is “no one’s been able to train him.”

Guerreros del Ring #154 has DTU.

Odd mix of people.

Mistico out three months, Garza out three weeks

CMLL.com confirms Mistico’s injury in Guadalajara yesterday. It is a fractured collarbone, and he’ll be out at least three months.

The big news here is, next time, they’ll be able to run an actual return show. No word on his replacement for Friday. It would seem like they have to change the card order.

CMLL.com also says Garza had an operation on his right knee, “due to the attack by Mr. Niebla & and Negro Casas” on Friday. That Perros run in is still odd. He’ll be about at least three weeks.

08/25: notes

There’s a report (xrudox @ el Martinete) that Mistico seperated his shoulder Sunday in Arena Coliseo Guadalajara. Sololuchas says Mistico was taken the hospital in DF, which is a bit of a trip. There’s discussion down in the comments that it may be a collarbone injury, Mistico’s had surgery (which would explain why he went back to DF to do it) and that’d put him out for the Anniversary show. CMLL hasn’t said anything yet.

No new news on Scorpio Jr., excepting SuperLucha just confirming what SoloLuchas had previously written.

Luchando Libre has a long obit for El Monarca/Aspion Negro. Superluchas and SoloLuchas have brief articles denoting his passing.

The last show on the CMLL Tour, in Madrid, was said to draw 2,000 fans. That seems about average for this tour, in buildings that were meant to hold much more.

ESTO has a Santo bio. ESTO got Adam Pearce’s name correct.

A book called “The World of Lucha Libre: Secrets, Revelations, and Mexican Political Identity” comes out in November. There’s a brief review of it in Publishers Weekly.

El Salvador writes about lucha libre in San Salvador. The golden age there is said to be 60s to 80s, and the (unnamed) promotion here is just doing weekly Sunday shows.

Victor writes about last night’s FSE show

Juvi Guerrera is scheduled to be interviewed on Monday Night Mayhem today.

08/24: Scorpio Jr., WWE to…, IWRG, lineups

Scorpio Jr. was taken to Hospital Obregon on Friday night with two bleeding ulcers. He had surgery on Saturday. SoloLuchas painted a “grave” situation in it’s first post, and seems slightly toned down on it’s followup interview with Scorpio Sr. I don’t see any other source with this story; I believe it, but there’s a lack of details for a story that’s 48 hours in progress.

Cesar @ box y lucha says WWE’s ending up with TVC Deportes, starting 10/06.

Still no Accion. If it’s not back next week, I go to the police station and file a missing person’s report. Newspaper reports about lucha should pick back up starting tomorrow, obviously.

Univision has an article on the annual CMLL Minis Anniversary Celebration. The division is 16 this year. Roll call of people who barely see CMLL DF matches: Pequeno Lizmark, Pequeno Mascara Ano 2000, Bracito de Oro, and Pequeno Lizmark.

SoloLuchas continues it’s series of asking wrestlers about the Olympics with Shocker, Dr. Wagner Jr. and Dragon Rojo Jr. Dragon Rojo was apparently a elementary school gym teacher before going into lucha full time. If anyone I know read this blog, there’d be about fifteen hundred jokes I could make here. Wagner was getting his hands in the walk of fame, where one wrestler seems to get their hands every month.

IWRG (SUN) 08/17 Arena Naucalpan [SuperLuchas #278]

4) Ciclon Negro, Dr. Cerebro, Negro Navarro b Centauro, Fenix, Freelance
5) Intocable, Multifacético, Ultramán Jr. DQ Emilio Charles Jr., Monsther, Scorpio Jr.

Scorpio fouled Intocable, but got caught. Dr. Cerebro beat Freelance, still wants a shot at his title. Naturally, he gets a title shot next week, at a completely different title. There’s an interview with Emilio, who says he might join up with Scorpio and Zumbido as the Guapos, or maybe they’ll restart the Tailban instead.

Tecnicos won the main event clean. Jr. Capos hit the ring to help beat down Rayo Jr. after the match, and MA2K challenged Rayo for this (unauthorized?) WWA Heavyweight Title.

4) Ave Nocturna, Huizar, Yakuza vs Federales I, Federales II, Judas el Traidor
5) Axel, Metalik, Último Vampiro vs El Magnifico, Mr. México, Sangre Azteca

This is the first match I’ve seen Mr. Mexico listed in since he lost his hair to Leono last December. I choose to believe he withdrew from wrestling in embarrassment after that match, though that wouldn’t explain why Leono won’t go away.

CMLL (SUN) 08/31 Arena Coliseo
1) Molotov & Trueno vs Artillero & Súper Comando
2) Metalik, Sensei, Tony Rivera vs Apocalipsis, Halcon Negro, Loco Max

4) Blue Panther, Dos Caras Jr., Héctor Garza vs Texano Jr., Villano IV, Villano V
5) Heavy Metal, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas vs Averno, Mephisto, Terrible

Halcon Negro?!? HMMMMMM. (I’m going to guess Metalik. If I explain this parenthetical, than it might not happen or it will happen and everyone will be annoyed with me for pointing it out. I’m sure someone will explain it in the comments.) Speaking of, Sololuchas did a short interview with Metalik.

Someone’s showing up with no hair or no mask for the first time in the women’s trios. Whatever title program they were doing with the Perros team last week has completely been forgotten this week, and they’re inexplicably facing Peste Negra.

IWRG (SUN) 08/31 Arena Naucalpan
1) Eragon & Yack vs Epidemia & Heavy Boy
2) Fenix & Miss Gaviota vs Fantasma de la Ópera & Judas el Traidor
3) Oficial 911, Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro vs Black Terry, Cerebro Negro, Dr. Cerebro
4) Aeroman, Freelance, Pantera, Ultramán Jr. vs Ciclon Negro, El Dandy, Emilio Charles Jr., Veneno
5) Dr. Wagner Jr. & Mascara Ano 2000 Jr. vs LA Park & Multifacético

I guess that’s a relevos increidbles main? Park’s a rudo here, right? I think so, it’s just not listed as much. Kinda weird the Oficials are putting up the trios titles on Thursday, then facing almost the same trios on Sunday.
