06/27: Dr. Morales out of CMLL?

CMLL

CMLL (FRI) 06/27 Arena Mexico
1) Bam Bam & Último Dragoncito vs Pequeño Warrior & Pierrothito
2) Diamante Negro vs Vangelis, Skandalo, Bronco III, Puma King, Tiger Kid, Hijo del Fantasma, Hijo del Faraon, Axel, Metalik, Astro Boy, Angel Azteca [cibernetico, Gen75]
3) Blue Panther, Dos Caras Jr., Shocker vs el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Terrible, Villano V
4) Dr. Wagner Jr., Héctor Garza, Místico vs Heavy Metal, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas

ESTO preview. The most noteworthy part of the event isn’t listed; the Wrestling Observer says Dr. Alfonso Morales has quit as announcer on CMLL’s main show. CMLL is still ticked at Arturo Rivera and wanted to start costing him his other jobs, like his Box Y Lucha column. Morales runs the magazine, refused to fire Morales, and walked out on CMLL. Some people talk the talk (*cough*wagner*cough*), Dr. Alfonso Morales walks the walk.

Technically, Televisa is in charge of announcers, so they may ultimately have a say in this. I’d guess they use a guy from one of the other shows.

In actual matches, main event is Wagner versus his rivals with the tag champs along for the ride. Panther/V5 continues on the semimain. Dimante Negro, Axel, Hijo de Fantasma and Metalik have to be the favorites in the Generation 75 cibernetico. I’m going to guess Diamante.

If Niebla can’t decide what the name of his group with Negro and Heavy is, then I’m not going to acknowledge it. I did learn something from that Hector Garza press conference after all. For his part, Atlantis says the door is still open for Niebla or the Casas brothers to join the Guerreros.

ESTO talks to Bucanero about TNA. They mention the tag team win and Rey beating Alex, and no other matches. Expected as much. SuperLuchas has video from last night’s Impact, which featured the tag match. I’m guessing Rey’s 74 shirt is to remind us of his birthday coming up.

(Mr. Reyes) Zumbido turned up at last night’s IWRG show.

There’s a bit of controversy around Sunday’s AAA taping, and it has nothing to do with who’s actually on the show. A local ticket seller blacked out the prices on the tickets, and selling them for higher than advertised on the poster. Local authorities see this as fraud (though not enough that they’ve taken away the tickets), while the ticket reseller maintains the prices were originally incorrect and he’s just charging what he was authorized by AAA. No word from AAA in the article, presumably they couldn’t get a hold of anyone there.

AAA () 07/18 Complejo Cultural Siglo XXI Lineup
1) Super Kiss, Estrella de Plata, Triple X vs Tarahumara, el Dante, the China Boxer
2) La parkita, Mascarita Divina, Octagoncito vs Mini Abismo Negro, Mini Histeria, Jerry Estrada
3) Estrellita, Fabi Apache vs Mari Apache, La Hechicera

Tirantes is running this show on 07/18 in Puebla. Because he’s Tirantes, he’s gotten both AAA talent and indy guys working the show. The top matches will be a incredible trios tournament, with 24 wrestlers randomlly placed into teams. The list of scheduled wrestlers, via Mr. Reyes: Cibernetico, Mil Mascara, Blue Demon Jr., Kenzo Suzuki, Octagon, Tinieblas Jr., Elegido, Pimpinela, Zumbido, Psycho Clown, Killer Clown, Cassandro, Hijo de Anibal, Latin Lover, el Mesias, Zorro, Tinieblas Sr., Chessman, Fuerza Guerrera, Scorpio Jr., Decnnis, May Flowers, and Intocable. Lineup is very subject to change.

Promiciones Navarez Brothers has started a blog on lucha libre in Chetumal, including history of wrestling in the area.

There’s a local (to me, anyway) FREE show today in Villa Park.

GALLI (FRI) 06/27 CartMart USA, Villa Park, IL [CPW]
1) Stress & Venom vs El Potro & Pinocho
2) Golden Star & Mr. Zeus vs El Guardian & Emperador
3) Joey Marx & Negrotistico vs Ainsworth & Tony Scarpone
4) Meteoro I, Meteoro II, Silueta Dorada vs Blade, Chilango, Resistencia
5) El Tigre, Nemesis (Galli), Slayer vs Demencia, El Funebre, Pentagon del Infierno
6) Centella de Oro, Quianto Sol, Samuary vs ?, Amenaza del Siglo, Gringo Loco

This starts at 5, which means it’s going directly agianst the last few innings of the Cubs/Sox game. Not quite the way I would’ve gone.

06/26: Guapos, TNA, Monterrey

SuperLuchas has a good post explaining the Guapos situation:

– Scorpio Jr. initiated the jump. He’d wanted a pay raise for himself and his partners as well as more TV exposure. AAA responded with a deal for more for Scorpio but not his guys and not more TV. The group decided to jump.
– Decnnis’ plan was to go from IWRG to CMLL, but quickly got cold feet on the whole thing.
– Guapito worked IWRG this past Sunday only because he was convinced by Scorpio that he had committed to that date, but wanted to get back in AAA all along and probably didn’t mention that to Scorpio. He probably should’ve made it clear to all that he just was working the one date. Both Guapito and Decnnis have only worked AAA in their career and appear hesitant to take the risk of something new.
– Zumbido’s gone to CMLL’s offices to look to jump there. Five other (unnamed) AAA wrestlers have done the same in recent days and been rejected, but Zumbido’s history in CMLL probably gives him a better chance.

The latest Wrestling Observer (cover date July 1) says Averno & Volador did NOT yet receive visas, so that’s why they weren’t on the TNA shows. They’re expecting to get them done by the end of the week and be fine for the PPV.

Hoy Internet has an interview with Canek. Strangely, the article says Canek started training 13, and debuted in Palacio del Deportes at 17. I guess he’s trying to shave some years off his age. He keeps his feud going with Dr. Wagner by accusing him of copying his mask and catchphrase.

FILL (SUN) 06/29 Arena Coliseo Monterrey [Arena Coliseo]
1) Huracan Ramiez Jr. vs Ultramán Jr., Bam Bam, El Diivo, Pantera, Angel Negro, el Unico, La Huesuda, Jaguar de Oro, Mercurio
2) Estrella Dorado Jr., Huracan Ramirez, Tinieblas Sr. vs Herodes, ?, Jaque Mate Jr.

CMLL seems to be done here already. Sorry web feed fans.

CMLL SPARTAN (WED) 06/25 Auditorio Municipal de Tampico [el Dentista @ lMdLL]
1) Lumino & Rayo Azteca b Aborto & Misterio Negro
2) Baby Lover & Baby Ruiz b Iron Boy & King Boy
3) Pequeño Damian 666 & Pequeño Halloween b Bam Bam & Tzuki
4) Alex Koslov, Oro Negro, Valiente b Alejandro Montana Jr., Loco Castillo, Silver Fox
5) Dr. Wagner Jr. & La Mascara b Hector Garza & Mephisto [Relevos Increíbles]

Subs: La Mascara for Averno, Hector Garza for Mistico (said to be hurt, and he surely is), Valiente for Maximo, Bam Bam for Mascarita Dorada. They did post the changed card and offered refunds.

The UMLL/Todos x el Todos group is doing lots of promotion for their shows in London (next week) and Spain (this week). They might draw pretty well on the novelty of the concept.

RPP Noticias writes about a promotion starting up in Peru on 06/28. They spend more time talking about the history of wrestling than the actual promotion.

Box Y Lucha’s board is down. So is DVDVR’s, again.

IWRG lineups and other quick notes

Damian 666 is awesome/SuperLuchas #269

LLI (SUN) 06/15 the Show Palace, Oceanside, California [SuperLuchas #269]
1) Spark Jr. b Riot
2) El Comando b Maravilla Azul
3) Ice Cream b Faraon de Occidnte, Huracan Negro
4) Eragon & Steve Pain b Thunder Wolf & X-Torm
5) Kid Mendiola L Hijo del Diablo Jr., Espectro Jr., Hijo del Sicodelico, SoCal Crazy, Bobby Lee Jr. [hair]

HMMM, Bobby Lee Jr. wrestling on the same show as Ice Cream, what are the odds!

The magazine also has an interview with Decnnis, Scorpio and Guapito from the first night they showed up in IWRG. Don’t buy the “we were just caught off guard by the photo” excuse – both Decnnis and Guapito talk about being finished with AAA and starting with IWRG here.

This week’s IWRG lineups, using the version provided to SuperLuchas.

IWRG (THU) 06/26 Arena Naucalpan
1) Eragon vs Comando Gama
2) Jack & Rey de Corazones vs Trauma I & Trauma II
3) Bugambilia, Chico Che, Miss Gaviota vs Capitán Muerte, Karloff Lagarde Jr., Xibalva
4) el Hijo Del Anibal, Multifacético, Super Calo vs Arleuin, Black Terry, Veneno
5) ?, Rayman, Scorpio Jr. vs Mascara Ano 2000 Jr., Ricky Cruzz, Universo 2000

IWRG (SUN) 06/29 Arena Naucalpan
1) Eragon & Halcon 2000 vs Comando Gama & Rockero del Diablo
2) Bugambilia, Miss Gaivota, Turbo vs Black Thunder, Capitán Muerte, Xibalva
3) Solar I, Super Astro, Ultraman vs Black Terry, Shu el Guerrero, Veneno
4) el Hijo Del Anibal, Multifacético, Pantera vs El Dandy, Mascara Ano 2000 Jr., Máscara Sagrada
5) Decnnis, Scorpio Jr., Tinieblas Jr. vs Fuerza Guerrera, Máscara Año 2000, Universo 2000

SuperLuchas goes to the press on Saturday and gets to the newstands on Sunday, so that was the situation then. Tinieblas Jr. is intersting, since he’s listed as working on the AAA taping at the same day, just the same as the Guapos.

IWRG’s actually updating the lineup on their website, if you’re willing to hunt for a working link on the site, and they list Zumbido as the mystery man on Thursday and in Decnnis’ spot on Sunday (while Mascara Sagrada disappears from the lineup.) It’s impossible to figure out what any of this means.

06/28-30 Lucha Times

box

AAA-US: home stretch to TripleMania, though this taping is pretty messed up due to rain. Konnan/Zorro vs Chessman/Cibernetico in the main, Hart Foundation vs Mesias/Ozz earlier.

FSE-US: Block A of the Arena Coliseo Tag Tournament (lots of short matches) and Metal/Marco/Volador vs Rey/Olimpico/Misterioso

CAN52: Metalik/Purpura/Maximo vs Diamante/X/Vangelis and Dos Jr./Negro/Shocker vs Atlantis/Rey/Ultimo

——-

CMLL: The listings I’m looking at have this show cut to an hour, which probably means Top 2 here, the cibernetico knocked off to CAN52 and the minis match not airing despite only four matches this Friday. You can go ahead and swear in the comments.

AAA-MEX: If anything needed to be cut down this week, it’s this show. Foreign stars trios and Mesias/Vamp are the only things left, so you also get two hours of replays.

FSE-MEX: Titled as “La Nazi vs Amapola”, which can’t be right, but surely means the Women’s match and probably Block B of the torneo.

C3: Minis and Metal. Is there any way to tell which weeks they’re running the opener or is it just random?

CyL: Mascara Purpura and Volador in the main.

06/25: Guapito is a very indecisive person, GDL, Mexico

fail!/CMLL

IWRG (SUN) 06/22 Arena Naucalpan [the gladiatores]
1) Eragon & Halcon Salvaje b Anubis & Comando Gama
2) Chico Che & Turbo b Fantasma de La Opera & Thunder Black
3) Bugambilia, Centauro, Miss Gaviota b Arlequin, Trauma I, Trauma II
4) Black Terry b Fuerza Guerrera
5) el Hijo Del Anibal, Multifacetico, Pantera DQ El Dandy, Shu el Guerrero, Veneno
6) Dr. Wagner Jr. b LA Park [UWA HEAVY]

Wagner won clean, with a submission. How unusual for this feud(/promotion.) Ricky Cruzz was Park’s second, and got away with attacking Wagner thru the match despite that being a DQ and all.

Scorpio was Wagner’s second in the main event. It seems he turned tecnico before the semimian, when he showed up to say hi to his old rudo friends, and Veneno had unresolved anger about the Corporacion. Yes, the faction from 2005 that you haven’t thought about much sense, but Veneno apparently blames Scorpio for going to AAA and causing the breakup. Naturally, Scorpio came back to cause a DQ in the third fall.

Fuerza and Terry had a bloody brawl. Black Terry won clean.

Lots of good stuff in Arturo Rivera’s Ovaciones column today

– Guapito has re-re-re-reversed his position, having gone to the AAA offices on Monday to ask for his job back. This would be his fourth switch in eight days. MAKE UP YOUR MIND. I think the only solution is to clone Guapito so he can work both places.

– Arturo doesn’t like the chances of all that jumped to IWRG, beause their TV isn’t very strong and they’ll slip from fans minds. In one of his interviews, Guaptio brought this up as a reason why he changed his mind (and then changed it twice more.) IWRG really needs it’s Azteca show on everywhere, including the capital, if they want to have major league visibility

– It was CMLL who called Sexi Star about her interest in jumping. She said no.

– AAA’s wrestlers find out their schedule by going to the AAA office. And even then, not always – this past week, one of the wrestlers was hanging out in the park, bought a magazine from a vendor, and found out he (and Arturo) were supposed to be working in Colima on Tuesday. This does not surprise me. Artruo wants a better solution.

MEANWHILE: AAA’s taken down the “Zumbido/Decnnis” are hanging around article. I mean, it’s still on the site, but all the links to it are gone.

CMLL.com confirms Atlantis/Shocker for the NWA LH Title has been added to Sunday. ESTO had this a couple days ago. I guess it could be a title change, not like Atlantis has done anything with the belt. This will be Atlantis’ first charted title defense in four months, and his first defense on a CMLL TV taping since February of ’06.

CMLL (SUN) 06/22 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [CMLL]
1) Idolo & Imposter b Egipcio & Fraile de la Muerte
2) Casanova, Metal Blanco, Metatron b Infierno, Mr. Trueno, Rey Trueno
3) Alex Koslov, Leon Blanco, Magnum CO Malefico, Máscara Mágica, Toxico

5) Damián 666, Mr. Águila, Texano Jr. b Axxel, Rayman, Sagrado
6) Héctor Garza & Místico b Averno & Mephisto [CMLL TAG]

Alex and Axxel switched spots from what was advertised. Misterioso yanked Gallo’s mask in the second fall of the match, then fouled him in the third. Warrior yanked Sombra’s mask.

CMLL also posted Sunday Coliseo results and photos, so we can work out the tournament:

3) Nitro & Skandalo b Neutron & Sensei [Arena Coliseo TAG, eightfinal, torneo]
4) Bronco III & Diamante Negro b Loco Max & Vangelis [Arena Coliseo TAG, eightfinal, torneo]
5) Fabian el Gitano & Mictlán b Polvora & Vaquero [Arena Coliseo TAG, eightfinal, torneo]

8) Flash & Stuka Jr. b Nitro & Skandalo [Arena Coliseo TAG, quarterfinal, torneo]
9) Flash & Stuka Jr. b Bronco III & Diamante Negro [Arena Coliseo TAG, semifinal, torneo]

Something odd must’ve happened in the battle royal to get tecnico/tecnico and rudo/rudo matchups. Looks like Dark Angel hit the ropes on the way thru for a tope to cause her injury.

CMLL (TUE) 06/24 Arena Mexico [notimex]
2) Mr. Águila, Pequeño Damian 666, Pequeño Halloween b Fantasy, Mini Maximo, Tzuki

5) Atlantis, Mr. Niebla, Olímpico b Dos Caras Jr., Heavy Metal, La Máscara

Heavy Metal did end up attacking Dos in the second fall, leading to a two fall loss for the tecnicos

Notimex looks to write about UG and Rey winning in Orlando on Monday, so naturally they use an old interview with Mistico. To save this from complete uselessness, Mistico reveals he’s going to take of some time for this wrist – in two or three weeks. I’m sure it’ll hold till then.

CMLL (THU) 07/03 Plaza de Toros Cancun [LuchandoLibre]

No Crazy Boy?

Times Online talks to Santo and Silver King about lucha libre london. Santo says 80% of lucha libre is real. How do you get 80%?

Noticias Voz has a bio of local wrestler Caballero de la Muerte Jr.

breaking down the World X Cup

I don’t know that anyone should be offended/shocked by spoilers, since all I do is post results about matches before they air on television, but I’m feeling generous. (And also want to see how this break feature works.) This is more figuring out the most likely scenario than looking at all of them, in case it makes a difference.
