08/08: AAA TV, Puebla

Shocker's looking for those AAA TV results too!

If you’ve tried to e-mail me the in the last week and got a “mailbox full” kind of response (or no response at all), try again. It should work now.

AAA TV (SUN) 08/06 Morelia, Michoacan Results [aaa]

5) Maximo b Mr. Mexico [hair]
Mr. Mexico has a record of 1 win and 14 losses in apuesta matches. Maximo is 6-0.

The Arena Lopez Mateos TV taping this week has a main event of La Park vs Dr. Wagner Jr. CMLL DF never being able to do the blowoff probably helps the other promoters using them, because things are unsettled and fans may still want to see the match.

Guerreros del Ring 47 has a Satanico cover.

Soonews has an article about a show in Ontario last Friday, which included LA Park.

La Oreja.tv has the breaking news – Latin Lover’s taking a break from wrestling. (Way to be months behind.) They also think Latin Lover is as popular as Santo or Blue Demon.

GdR #37

taped 07/30, aired 08/05

Just okay; fair enough women’s trios [1], and the main event was a fine 8 minute encounter, but it was an 8 minute match. [2]

For the lack of anytime better to state the obvious, I’ll do it here: while I’m looking forward to India Sioux vs Medusa from a rooting interest [3], I’m completely uncertain about it as a wrestling contest. I believe we’ll one day have “India Sioux, pretty good worker”, but that day has yet to arrive [4]. In the little we’ve seen of Medusa [5], she hasn’t shown that sort of potential, and the two don’t seem to have any special chemistry to carry them thru a singles encounter.

On paper, India Sioux vs Medusa is the most worriesome singles match CMLL’s thrown out in this [6] run of women’s wrestling, and it has a chance of being distressingly bad. I’m gonna to cling to the ideas of them having a week [7] to work on the match, and that we were similiarly worried about Marcela vs Hiroka and a miracle happened.

(notes)
1 – though they’ve had better
2 – you may note that’s less than women got
3 – and I’ll try to play it down from here on out, because that sort of thing comes off as seriously creepy on the internet
4 – and given her level of experience, shouldn’t be expected soon.
5 – though you could see much more than you wanted to here
6 – now year+!
7 – or more; they’ve been setting up this match for a month, or whenever the Fox Sports Espanol deal was signed

08/07: Coliseo, Guadalajara results

Sunday Coliseo getting a cibernetico AND a mask match – I think that confirms FSE is getting the same GdR taping.

CMLL (SUN) 08/06 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara Results [
Gilillo @ el Martinete
]
1) Exerminador, Metal Blanco b Fraile de la Muerte, Rey Trueno
2) Depredador, Valentin Mayo b Antrax, Estrella de Jalisco
3) Angel Blanco Jr., Cien Caras Jr., Magnum b Leon Blanco, Mascara Purpura, Stuka Jr.
4) Idolo DQ Destroyer [lightning]
5) Blue Panther, Maximo, Texano Jr. b Black Warrior, Emilio Charles Jr., Toxico
6) Universo 2000 b Dos Caras Jr. [CMLL HEAVY]
ref took a bump off Dos’ German Suplex, Universo snuck in a low blow and got the win. The fan who wrote this up was shocking and angered that the commission would allow such cheating. (Really, though, Universo should beat Dos clean at this point.)

Articles
the UK Indepedent runs the usual (generic) lucha libre introduction piece.
– The Corvallis Gazette-Times has a story about the author going to their first lucha show after seeing Nacho Libre. I *think* I just won an argument!

Martha Villalobos chats with Box Y Lucha tomorrow at 2PM.

Box Y Lucha hasn’t release full lineups, but I’ve got the main ones are listed for this week. I’ve discussed the CMLL stuff of note already.

AAA’s announced 3 TV tapings for next week, which includes two Mexican Atomicos title matches (both Dark Family vs Mexipowers) and a tournament of undercarders where the winner gets his ‘dream’; oddly, they seem to have a seeing battle royal on the first show, but have already announced tournament matches for the next two shows. I think wrestling may be fake! Also, the Allthe GWPC title seems to be back and anything going on with Cibernetico isn’t apparently by the lineups.

Accion:

CMLL: main event from Arena Mexico. Lots of highlights. Warrior’s mask got pretty torn up here.

AAA: Parka, Gronda, Porky vs Absimo, Muerte, Electro from Tampico. Pokry apron dive! Electro has a odd missed clotehsline (which sets up a Parka tope, which is why it looked odd – but I guess it shouldn’t.) Gronda was indeed wearing a neckbrace, and took a double spear from Muerte and Electro for the loss.

As noted elsewhere, Friday’s Arena Mexico show was a sellout and one of the biggest audiences in the history of the building. My theory is Santo + Mistico = $$$$$$$$$$$$, but that’s just a wacky guess.

We’ll do lineups on Monday, but notable from the preliminary info:
– Ovaciones was wrong; no Leyenda de Plata next week. Rey/Perro in the main, with Santo in the semimain – versus the return of LA Park. There’s gotta be a story there.
– This means Rey’s headlining two DF shows – he’s got Mephisto on Tuesday as well
– Eclipse returns. As does Hombre Sin Nombre
– Sunday’s got a random cibernetico (seems unlikely they’d do two ciberneticos in two weeks, so maybe no LdP next week either?)

08/05: Mexico, RXLL, GdR

CMLL (FRI) 08/04 Arena Mexico Results [ova, magazinecmll, ocampo]
1) Tigre Blanco, Tigre Metalico b Artillero, Super Comando
2) Sagrado, Satanico, Virus b Loco Max, Nitro, Okumura
3) Blue Panther, La Mascara, Volador Jr. b Misterioso II, Olimpico, Sangre Azteca
4) Damian 666, Hector Garza, Hijo del Perro Aguayo b Dos Caras Jr., Dr. Wagner Jr., Rey Bucanero
5) Hijo del Santo, Mistico, Negro Casas b Atlantis, Black Warrior, Ultimo Guerrero

Perro snuck in a foul on Rey for the 4th match victory. Post match, Rey challenged Perro to a hair match, and it appeared Perro accepted – but they’ll only hvae a normal singles match next week. (So, neither man will be in the Leyenda de Plata – lineup still TBA.)

Vampiro (and others business backers, I guess) held a press confrence yesterday to announced the formation of a new promotion, Revolucion X Lucha Libre (RXLL). No other wrestlers were offically announced; Extreme Tiger, Teddy Hart, Samoa Joe, and Sean Waltman were mentioned as possiblities but it doesn’t read as if any of them are for sure (and at this point, I’m sure nothing is for sure.) First show was announced for 09/02 in Coliseo Olimpico de la Universidad de Guadalajara, and we’ll know a lot more about how seriously to take this after the card’s been announced and after a show’s been held.

Guerreros del Ring had matches from 07/30 Coliseo
La Nazi, Medusa, Princesa Sujei vs Dark Angel, India Sioux, Sahori
Atlantis, Olimpico, Ultimo Guerrero vs Dr. Wagner Jr., Mistico, Negro Casas
(we’re back to women + Mistico)
