accion, 02/26

Accion aired clips of Cien Caras’s involvement on Friday. Both he and Apolo were wearing Cien Caras masks prior to their involvement. If this is leading anywhere, I’d guess this would lead to yet another one last Cien match, this time with one of his sons involved.

AAA’s clips were of a Octagon, La Parka, Shocker vs Konan, Cibenetico, Scorpio Jr. match in Orizaba, Veracruz. (I don’t have this match in the listings, but its’ a revente TV taping.) Cibernetico’s sect ran in and beatdown Parka for the DQ.

02/25. Same weekend service.

Mistico vs Ultimo Guerrero was not as good as the MOTY from 2005, and it’s unfair to compare the two but that’s what you’re reading this sentence for. I thought it was going along at slightly below 85 pace for the first two falls, with cool moves but not a lot of story being strung together. It picked up in the third fall, with the big powerbombs switching it from “Mistico can’t pin Ultimo” to “No matter Ultimo’s big move, Mistico won’t stay down.” I really liked they played the usual La Maistica formula; all of Mistico’s matches have seemed to end within five seconds of the first time he tries it – either it works, or someone escapes and cheats for a small pacakge win.

I must’ve been wrong or the report must’ve been wrong last Monday, but it was obviously Ultimo who hurt his shoulder and not Mistico. He walks off with the doctor soon after the match instead of partcipating in whatever post match they had.

There isn’t much news in ovacions today and I don’t feel like looking for it, so no news today.

I’m going to take a break and then try to see how much of this week’s lucha I can finish tonight.
