It sure looks like Maximo was the guy listed as Equis in the Arena Mexico segunda. That’s odd.

Ovaciones is the normal Tuesday Aficion preview, and a interview with Mephisto about Friday’s main event. Mephisto figured Negro and Santo will be their most difficult defense ever, but thinks his superior teamwork with Averno will give them the edge. Mephisto, demon from hell, wishes all the fans a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

The Black Tiger/LA Park mask match in Torreon, which was originally mentioned to be “sometime in spring ’06”, and then moved up to 12/25, will now possibly move back into early ’06. In the latest Lucha2000 (via box y lucha foro), Black Tiger mentioned being in a car accident where he hurt his nose, and required surgery. Tiger is not sure if he’ll be ready for the 25th, but promises they’ll move the show back by no more than a month if he can’t go. (This explains why he’s not on the Torreon show this week.)

No full results from the show, but the sons of Cien Caras beat Flash I & II in Guadalajara this past Sunday for the Western (Occidente) tag team championship.

Box Y Lucha #2744 is up.
– poster are pictures of Latin Lover from the Teleton.
– Latin Lover says this year has been the best year of his life, what with becoming famous and all. He’s going to be part of a weekly (Saturday) TV show soon.
– Diana La Cazadora is a traffic reporter in her other job. She was trained to wrestle by Bello Canibal, Carnicero Aguilar, and Centurion Negro. She hopes she makes it back to Arena Mexico more often next year.
– At the year end Televisa network party, they’re having their own mini-Dancing With The Stars contest with representatives from all their divisions – the winning division getting a car raffled off for their group. AAA announcer Arutro Rivera will help represent the Special Events division, and he talks about
– Averno & Mephisto figure teaming and winning often before will give them a edge of Santo & Casas this week. Casas & Santo feel they were robbed of the titles last time they lost them, so they’re destined to win them back here. (If I recall correctly, they actually lost the titles in a clean, though nearly neckbreaking, loss to Rey and Ultimo.)
– Halloween breaks his silence and talks about his fight. One of the bits in this article is that he was so hurt, he didn’t want the fans to remember him like this, so he refused to let Box Y Lucha take his picture. (And then he showed up on the CMLL show.) Halloween says his knee went out in the second fall (which could be true, but watching the Sunday show this weekend, I recalled his knee went out in that match to, so it’s a problem that’s been around for a while.) His recovery timeline is mentioned here as one year, and he sounds very depressed about it. “This has been the best 18 years of my life, and if I never come back, remember me as someone who gave it my all” kinda thing.
– Marcela talks about her last trip to Japan. Nothing much new there, except she felt she got more respect because she was champion and tried to represent the belt as best as she could.
– Emilio Charles Jr. says he’s happy with what he’s accomplished, having spent most of the year outside of Mexico City. The highlight for him, of course, is beating Satanico for his hair. Emilio also says the Taliban is broken up, because he’s busy and Scorpio seems to be out of CMLL and Bestia is in a Guadalajara a lot, so it’s hard to get together.
– Box Y Lucha talks to a 12 year old kid who is running his own kids promotion (for three years!) in Monterrey. Sounds like a backyard deal, except they have an actual ring and occasionally have concessions. That’s still crazy.
– Head Hunter I was a big fan of Abdullah the Butcher, and that’s why he wanted to get into wrestling. While he’s always listed as from the Dominican Republic, and was born there, he and his brother (II) grew up in the US. They trained with Black Gordman, and debuted in 06/85 in New York, debuting in Mexico in 1990.

And Warrior interfered here as well, causing this finish.
10) Kazuchika Osada b Hajime Ohara [Young Dragon Cup, Final]

Black Warrior had pleaded to turn back rudo not to long ago in Box Y Lucha, so looks like he got his wish on a Toryumon Mexico card of all places. The fight carried over to the next day’s Coliseo card, where Ultimo Dragon and Black Warrior fought each other while being on the same team of the semimain, but isn’t reflected in any other bookings yet. (That match was previewed on GdR, so you think they’ll eventually follow up on the turn if it’s going to air on TV.)

CMLL (SUN) 12/11 Arena Coliseo Results [ova]
1) Bam Bam, Mini Shocker, Mini Fantasy b Pierrothito, Mini Violencia, Fire

Lots of shennagins in the main event, with Rayo finally winning with a low blow.

STILL no AAA results. No Box Y Lucha update yet today.

Super Lucha #140’s cover hypes the tag team title match. I think the note about Brock is just one step wishcasting on the NJPW/CMLL alliance.

12/12 Lineups

Highlights from the last week of Arena Mexico for the year
– Hombre Sin Nombre returns the same show as Sangre Azteca, the Tuesday Arena Coliseo. Safari is nowhere to be seen, but I guess we’ll be able to check this one off for sure if HsN misses due to the injury Safari suffered in NJPW.
– There’s a promotion named GOLFO. Huh. Less weird is Cien Caras coming out of retirement for one more match on the show.
– Latin Lover teams with Chessman and Cibernetico teams with La Parka Jr. in a incredible pairs match on Thursday.
– In addition to the CMLL Tag Team titles being defended on Friday, the Women’s Title are defended on Thursday in Arena Neza
– AAA has a TV Taping on Saturday. Shocker, Alan and Zumbido team up as Guapo U.
– “not a Perros Del Mal” person Terrible teams up with Perro and Hector on Saturday.
– There’s an 8 way mask match in Arena Neza with familiar names and the guy who will actually lose
– Someone named Gringo Loco is wrestling in Toerron. Different guy?

Haven’t seen a thing about the AAA show.

In Ovaciones, Dark Angel says she’s going home to Canada till at least late January, and Diana La Cazadora is going to be wrestling just near her home in Moterrey till Feburary. Welcome to the off season. Both are thrilled with what they accomplished this year and hope for great things in ’06.

CMLL Director of Programming Juan Manuel Mar says 2006 will be a banner year for CMLL. Well, now I feel great.

At a Pearl Jam concert last Friday in Mexico City, Eddie Vedder requested the aid of el Santo to take on George Bush, and then brought out the mask for a song.

GdR #2

GdR #2 – last week’s show.

General details about the show style I neglected to include
– no Momentos or any highlights from the other matches
– Sunday Coliseo match is done by other announcers, and the Friday match appears to be the normal Friday video with GdR’s own style for fall graphics and such.
– The GdR fall status/count graphics are nice.
– If you took out the replays and the full entrances, you could surely fit another match (or at least most of it) on this show.

The matches here were fine, but not anything to look forward to. I’m still annoyed I missed the first episode and the Garza/Tarzan match.

#3 may be later tonight or Monday; not sure if I’m going to do that, or speed thru AAA first.
