As usual, when WWE sends it’s wrestlers to London to promote an upcoming tour, Batista did a chat with the The Sun’s website.

Unusually, Batista actually said something noteworth – and negative – about WWE.

Who do you think is winning in the rivalry between Raw and Smackdown?

I don’t consider it a rivalry at all. We’re a better show, period. There’s no comparison.

I feel for Smackdown, I just don’t know what’s going on over there.

I try to watch the shows but, for me, they’re hard to sit through. And that really makes me sick as it should be a top show.

I’ve watched their tapings live and it seems like a lot of the guys couldn’t care less. There’s a lack of passion and pride.

They need the stress of a live show on them, like we have. A lot of them think: “Oh, it’s taped. If I mess up, we’ll just redo it.”

They’re more worried about where they’re going after the show, which also makes me sick because it means they’re not there to work.

His thoughts on the Deacon Batista bit, and Goldberg in wrestling are pretty cutting too. And he reveals his favorite wrestler!

2004 Tapatia Awards

Very quietly and late at number, someone posted the lucha awards on sub-blog 1. Check out how four people with three votes each nearly almost manage to vote for twelve different people for Most Improved.

Did anyone see the Flaming Lips and the Shins on Austin City Limits? I taped it for a friend, and, having no great exposure to the Flaming Lips, the first 15 minutes are fun so far.

Not that it matters to anyone, but I’m just adding to this entry instead of making another AND I’m gonna wait till tommorow to start watching 24 so I can have myself a four hour EVENT. Don’t tell me about it.

OMG I fixed my e-mail all by myself. Apparently SpamAssassin is broken and they just didn’t tell me. dumb dumb dumb, should’ve made the connection quicker. Anyway. Mail should be working.

If Todd Gerth is reading this, let me know if you want the ELL-MEX results to link to the CW or DVDVR post.

Here’s my Velocity. Here’s Rick’s PPV review – easily the most favorable opinion I’ve seen tonight, and he’s having trouble pushing it to acceptable.

STEVEETEE

WWE Fantasy – Point Scoring Finishing Moves. I’d say they’re half way to (finally and thankfully!) putting me out of business, but then you have some obvious misses, like above. They don’t know what Haas’ move is called? Really? (They seem to have also ‘forgetton’ it on his bio, so maybe something’s up?) But it’s … Continue reading “STEVEETEE”

I’d say they’re half way to (finally and thankfully!) putting me out of business, but then you have some obvious misses, like above. They don’t know what Haas’ move is called? Really? (They seem to have also ‘forgetton’ it on his bio, so maybe something’s up?)

But it’s neat to find out what the WWE approved finishers for some of the women are. When I go back and think about the many times Dawn finished someone off with a splash…

(Unrelated: Amy Weber was on Undressed! Oh good lord did I hate that show.)

2004’s award for worst awards

Top 50 wrestlers – Inside Pulse. Hey, I said I was BORED. You have no idea. Truthfully, I was scanning it just for giggles (Rob Conway had a better year than the Undertaker, really?), and seeing what counts and doesn’t count as wrestling this year. Truthfully, I was scanning it just for giggles (Rob Conway had a better year than the Undertaker, really?), and seeing what counts and doesn’t count as wrestling this year. This just in: if you’re basing your coverage 90% around US/WWE/word of mouth indies stuff, then just grade those guys and don’t look dumb trying to talk about people you don’t know.

Otherwise, you end up with a gem like this.

17. El Hijo Del Santo

Son of the most famous Luchador of all-time, El Santo, is Mexico’s most in-demand performer. El Hijo has defended his mask in countless mask vs. mask matches, and has somehow been able to walk away with mark intact every time. Alternately feuds and teams with Negro Casas, his rival for over ten years. He still uses El Caballo, The Camel Clutch as his finisher.

The Inside Pulse: 2005 may see El Hijo Del Santo’s good fortune with his mask come to an end. A feud with Negro Casas could see unmasking of Santo, which would be huge news.

“We need a Mexican guy…el Hijo del Santo, I think I remember him. Let’s see what La Arena has to say and completely BS stuff.”

Money Quote:

And the reason for such worship isn’t because Triple H is a “ring general” or because he has a build that mocks the statues of the gods. It’s because Triple H has always been known as the working man’s wrestler – the WWE’s Curt Schilling.
