TV PG L open
Previously: We see the beatdown on Matt, and Matt says his reasons for being in the WWE haven't changed, like what does that have to do with anything. Al & company prank out the kids again.
Trax. 3 Days left. Talk about bringing it up to another level and the usual. John's bringing it up five notches! Don't know what the trainers are looking for. Big says in-ring, personality and the "It" factor, but I guess he didn't tell them that. Ring montage. Everything's in slow motion to make it look fierce. Oh wait, this is a montage of trainers scouting the talent.
Eric - Al: "Eric's a machine. Ah, he's very driven, very focused, very
intense."
John - Al: "John could be a tremendous star. He's got the athletic ability.
John was able to stand on the mat and pull of a Shooting Star Press - no one has
ever been able to pull that off." And the recap crashes to a screeching
halt
Digression: Uh, yes, they have Al. When I saw this the first time, I actually remembered that even *I* had seen this before - a '00 NWA Wildside show I recapped, back in the day when they were on America One and I cared - a guy named John Phoenix pulling it out no less than :10 into what we were shown of the match for a normal 2 count, which annoyed me to no end (apparently enough for me to remember more than 2 years later.)
Digression 2: The Shooting Star a impressive showing of physical/acrobatic ability and it looks good, but as a move it sucks. It obviously takes a lot of skill, but it's no more a Crusierweight finisher than a standing moonsault or splash - if they won with that, they'd have no reason to go up and do the top rope versions of those moves. So you have this incredible looking move that quickly becomes nothing more than a "look at what I can do!" spot - and everything becomes that much less a match and more an exhibition of spots.
Digression 3: On the other hand, it's entirely possible that what Al actually said was "In the three seasons we've been doing this, no one's have ever been able to pull that off." Or that he just doesn't watch that much outside wrestling - it seems to be going around.
Okay, let's hit play again. Maybe it's because I'm me, maybe it's because I'm doing these all much later, but this bugged me more than Holly thing last episode! I think I'm nuts.
Jonah - Al: "Jonah's got talent. He really wants to do this." Wow,
that's a winning recommendation
Jamie - Ivory: "Jamie hangs with guys in the ring - really well. So she
definitely has a leg up in the WWE."
Matt - Al: "Matt is naturally in the ring, he has a ton of timing, he truly
feels it."
You could describe Al as "gushing" there. It sounded like Matt, John,
Eric, Jonah in that order, comment wise.
Montage finishes. Big reminds us that only 2 wins.
Jonah talks about one of his favorite memories of Tough Enough has been the ribs. Rib montage. Are we short on footage this week? Maybe Lance still can be on this show! After, Jonah says Al and Bill have no confidence in the kids ability to pull off any rib. They'll get it when they hurt. Matt says they came up with the idea to take off the tires on Al's car. Actually, Matt did all the work during lunch, while the other four ate lunch as a distraction. Matt got SCREWED, but apparently has a pit crew future if he got the tires off that fast and easy.
Everyone walks out for the post match run. Al doesn't see it right away, so Eric hugs him to turn him in the right direction. Hahaha, it's up on jacks. THe kids are cracking up, and Al is speechless. So is Bill and Big. Bill (who's obviously checking to make sure his car still has wheels): "My friend, you've been gotten." Jonah says they can walk out getting the last laugh on Al Snow. Hahaha, the car has no wheels.
Next day. 2 Days left. That's how it works. Matt says they didn't expect a guest at all, so they come in and there's a guest. I guess that's how they got Matt to do all the work - not too quick. They're all shocked byt hte guest we can't see - and we go to break before we can.
Al introduces to a guy who inspired him to get in the business - Ric Flair. Entrance video Jonah says Flair is one of his idols. Flair says he thinks he's here to talk about what it was like when he started 30 years ago and how it's changed. "I think people on the ouside look in and don't realize how hard we work everyday." Eric says he has friends he knew for 15 years at home, but the only people who can understand what he's going through are the people here and the people in the business. Flair says it requires tremendous determination and of never wanting to be anything less than bet. If they can do something different, jump on it, because it can make the difference between being in developmental and the big show. Flair says goodbye.
But that's not all! Another special guest! SmackDown! referee Mike Choida! Actually, that didn't deserve exclamation points. He's gonna referee so they know what that's like. Mike's wearing a Rock shirt instead of strips for some reason.
Ring work montage. Eric talks about everyone sizing each other up, which leads to a peer evaluation montage
Matt - John: "I think Matt's gonna win because he's got the
"It" Factor, he's got just a really cool ring presence, and he picks
up all the moves just really quickly.
Jonah - Matt: "I honestly think Jonah is gonna have a contract. He's got personality
that you can't teach."
John - Eric: "John is like a super athlete. The gymnastic background
that John brings to the ring is just gonna help him so much."
Eric - Jamie: "Eric is awesome in the ring, and he has the drive."
Jamie - Jonah: "Jamie's always been able to hold her own. She looks good
in the ring all the time, she looks like she could do this."
In conclusion, Matt has no idea who's going to win. Thanks a lot Matt.
beeeeeep duh duh duh duh it's TAZZ. He's gonna put the Tazzmission on Jonah! He's gonna make Jonah tap out! Or he's just gonna stand menacingly behind the kids till they realize he's back there. Jonah: "Oh man." They're all so going die - he has that look. Eric: "We're gonna get the hell beat out of us, probably."
Tazz, wearing a Takeo Spikes jersey, address the group. Bill won't be around tomorrow for Canyon Tuesdays. Tazz would love to see that canyon, though, and to bring some friends with him. Eric: "I'm fearing for my life. I'm like 'Oh Jesus'." Tazz says he'll be at their house at 6AM, and they're going to the canyon. He suggest they go home now, and he suggests they don't go out tomorrow. Everyone's a bit scared. Tazz says they'll end on a positive note. Big: "Hey, Tazz, you want to see their house tonight?" Tazz: "[thinks] eh, all right."
Grilling with Tazz. Jonah challenges Tazz to SmackDown on PS2 - sponsors love Jonah for plugging their stuff. Tazz makes fun of video game Tazz's walk. Tazz loses to Ivory - I think just teh character and not the actual person, but who knows.
Eating. Big gets on the kids for not dressing up for Tazz, so they take off and to change into nice clothes real quick. Jamie: "The whole time we're looking at him, we're thinking liek, what his face is gonna look like tomorrow at the canyon." Tazz: "They probably would look good sitting at the front row of SmackDown in San Diego tomorrow night." Kids go nuts. Eric says they were ecstatic "but at the same time, f[bleep]ck, we still got the canyon the next day." Pensive looks as we go to break.
House. Jonah recaps. Tazz: 'Yea, no canyon." Tazz cracks up as the kids celebrate again. I think the trainers did get the last laugh, though they don't come otu and say that it was a rib.
Going to the show. John thinks it's a great way to end Tough Enough. Al (wearing a Hurricane shirt) meets them at the backdoor and welcomes them in. Jamie has John escort her, which makes me remember they dropped that storyline weeks ago. Walking around backstage, Jamie says that everywhere they walked, there's everyone she sees on TV. There's Brock but they're all looking the other way. Jonah says no one really knows what happens backstage and then start talking about the trailer trucks for some reason I don't understand. We see more of them walking around backstage - they walk right by Stephanie (talking to Batista?) and no one seems to notice.
Al does the walk to the curtain, though we don't get to see the white board. Al shows the Gorilla position and says Vince and JR will be sitting there watching the monitor and how standing there waiting with Vince is the point that gets him nervous.
Walking down the ramp, they actually start pointing out people - well not Jamie Noble and Tom Pritchard, but I guess they're not perfect. There's Rikishi, Chavo, Chief Morely even though he wasn't then (only the graphic says it, not them), Brock Lesnar, Arn Anderson, Dean Malenko, Pat Patterson, Molly Holly.
After that, they head to their seats - front row - and watch. SmackDown intro. This is the usual bit where they make believe the obligatory trainers match is actually on on the A-Show instead of the B-Show. Usual about wanting to be on the other side of the barricade and how cool it is to see the trainers. What's really bugging me is that I thought I saw these matches but I can't find any record of 'em. That's gonna bug me all night. Anyway, they all start to picture themselves in this. We see Billy in jeans slapping their hands, so this must've been soon after the wedding.
When the show is over, they head backstage to meet up with Al and Ivory. In walks Vince McMahon. Entrance video! This is a different one than he's using now. Vince introduces himself with everyone. The bruises on Matt's face are still evident here. Everyone's trying to keep their stuff together. Vince gives an inspirational speech. Nothing worth me typing down. Jonah says it was a dream - the dream of every wrestle. Eric says they all thought for a second if they have it - and yea, they just want a chance to prove it.
Final Day. They're packing and going home. Flashback montages! Matt thought he had a good chance to make it to the finals on Day 1, but he's still surprised and thankful to be here. John came in not wanting to quit no matter how hard it got, and he didn't. Jamie says this was the best thing that's ever happening to her, even if she doesn't win this. Eric says he found out more about the business that he enjoyed and now he's overwhelmed with passion to do this. Jonah says he wants to be in the business - win or not, he will be seen again, he will make it. Talk about coming together as a close family. They're CLOSE. Jonah says he wants to see everyone win.
Big, from the Excess studios: "For the trainers and me, the cuts on Tough Enough 3 have been some of the most difficult in the history of the show. Let's see if it's any easier for you. Log on to MTV.com or ToughEnough.com to find out how you can make the final cut. Then tune in next week for the Live season Finale, to see who reminds as the finale four."
No Next:, but I think you can figure it out.,
