DTU, Fiebre Amarilla vs Atlantida, Black Metal defeats caveman for title, Canek

1) Yuta b JhonkyKalibusJorge KebradaKiubyArtikusÁngel del MisterioOsirisAtomic StarMiedo Extremo
Jhonki, Atomic Star replaced Kalibus, Pequeno Cobra, Slayer Pack. Reports differ on if Kiuby or Arana de Plata was the third addition; best guess is Kiuby based on the pictures. Yuta beat Miedo Extremo for the win.
2) Kaleth & Niño Hamburguesa b Lucky Boy & Niño de Ébano and Crazy King & Principe Escorpion and Lanzeloth & Rocky Lobo and Araña de Plata & Pequeno Cobra
Locker/Rocker team scheduled for this match moved up one. Arana de Plata & Pequeno Cobra team seems to have replaced them, according to EdR.
3) Carta Brava Jr. I, La Magnifica, Locker b Comando Negro, Keira, Rocker
Match had been listed as three way tag with Arana/Perro Mocho (who seems to have missed all DTU shows), Carta Jr./Comando Negro vs Carta IWL/Cerebro Negro.
4) Epitafio, Judas el Traidor, Samael, Tormento NC Black Fire, Chica Ye-Ye, Demente Extreme, Peligro
Tormento replaced Leviatham, Peligro was the mystery man on the DTU side. Los Porros ran in to attack everyone, then got into an argument with Ciclope.
5) Steve Pain b Fenix (AAA)Príncipe HalcónJinzoOrionSádicoTomahawk T.T.HackerHormiga [#1 Contenders, DTU AI]
Fenix and Steve Pain replaced Septimo Dragon and Poison. Pain beat Fenix for the win, and wins a shot against Flamita at some point.
6) Drastik Boy & Flamita b Davey Richards & Eddie Edwards and Daga & Eterno
switched to the semi main (in before the ring was filled with leftovers from the hardcore match.) Upset win for Flamita & Drastik
7) Aero Boy & Violento Jack b Crazy Boy & Joe Lider and Cíclope & Paranoiko
switched to the main. Besides the usual violence, the LA Park Chair On Fire spot has made it’s way to DTU. Arana de Plata ran into help Ciclope, setting up lamps on the match, but Violento Jack put Ciclope thru them for the win.

It sounds like the fifth match was the best, but there’s not too many notes about the match quality. There’s really nothing said about the sixth match. I maybe have gotten the wrong Carta Brava.

CMLL (SUN) 07/07/2013 Arena Coliseo [CMLL]
1) Höruz & Robin b Akuma & Guerrero Negro Jr.
Tecnicos took 2/3.
2) Arkángel de la Muerte, Hooligan, Skándalo b Hombre Bala Jr., Pegasso, Soberano Jr.
Soberano replaced Starman. Rudos took 1/3.
3) Tritón b Raziel [lightning]
Triton won with a moonsault tornillo in a good match.
4) Bushiroad, Delta, Guerrero Maya Jr. b Boby Zavala, Namajague, Shigeo Okumura
Tecnicos toko 2/3 in a good match. Delta & Maya challenged for a title shot next week, and Okumura & Namajague accepted.
5) Diamante Azul, Shocker, Thunder b Euforia, Mr. Niebla, Vangellys
Tecnicos took 1/3.
6) Ephesto, Mephisto, Volador Jr. b Máscara Dorada, Mistico, Valiente
Rudos took 1/3 in a slightly disappointing match.

Main event seemed to start a Estetas del Aire vs Avernos/Volador feud, similar to Puebla. They’re probably a few weeks away from doing that match.

Next week’s show is in Arena Mexico, according to the announcers at the end of the show. This might have been made clear during the earlier microphone challenges, but the ring microphone wasn’t plugged into the Terra feed from the second match on. There was no sound entirely from midway in the second match until Triton’s post match promo.

CMLL (SUN) 07/07/2013 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [@acogdl]
1) Brillante & Capitan (Guadalajara) b Relampago Azul (Guadalajara) & Samael (Guadalajara)
Debut for Capitan. Tecnicos took 2/3.
2) Demonio Maya, El Yaki, Satara b Halcón de Plata, Idolo, Javier Cruz Jr.
Yaki back as a rudo, which makes since with that name. Rudos took 2/3.
3) Acertijo, Jocker, Sádico b El Hippie, Sky Kid, Tony Escobedo
Escobedo’s debut. Rudos took 1/3, Acertijo snuck in a foul on Hippie to set up the rudo win.
4) Black Metal b Bárbaro Cavernario [OCCIDENTE MIDDLE]
Metal took falls 1/3 to win the championship. Barbaro falls on fourth defense. Barbaro demanded a rematch in precisely two weeks.
5) La Máscara, Máximo, Rush b Dragón Rojo Jr., Pólvora, Rey Bucanero
Tecnicos took 2/3.

The title change could be a setup to Barbaro coming to Mexico City. He was good in his three day stint last month. It’s not like Arena Coliseo Guadalajara to care that much about their championships; they didn’t take them off Palacio Negro or Metal Blanco when they knew they were leaving or even when they came back.

Canek was the unadvertised surprise luchador on AAA TV’s taping in Ecatepec. Unclear why they brought in Canek and didn’t advertise him. La Parka worked the AAA TV taping and not the WWL show, while Eita did the opposite. More details about the AAA TV taping, though there’s not that many details to go around.

AAA had a photoshoot with Angelico & Jack Evans and the Reinas del Ring, along with a promo for Sunday’s taping which helps you not at all now. Sorry! Jack Evans yelling “woo” holds up.

The next TxT show appears to be on 07/27. This poster doesn’t make any matches clear except that the usual woman will face each other, and I think you could’ve figured that. It’s a Mexico vs the World Theme, which is pretty much the same as most of the TxT shows this year. Hijo del Santo is on the poster even though he’s said he’s not wrestling on the show.

Sombra keeps the IWGP IC championship, Infierno en el Ring announced

this needs to the be the wiki picture/photo by CMLL

CMLL (FRI) 06/28/2013 Arena Mexico [CMLL]
1) Hombre Bala Jr. & Súper Halcón Jr. b Artillero & Súper Comando
2) Namajague, Shigeo Okumura, Virus b Pegasso, Starman, Tritón
Starman’s trio are apparently Los Cadetes del Espacio, a team name used extensively in AAA previously. They did not wear matching gear and showed no indication they were meant to be a new trio, and lost their debut match. Rudos took 1/3.
3) Averno, Dragón Rojo Jr., Mr. Niebla b Blue Panther, Máscara Dorada, Mistico
Titan was announced, but was replaced by Blue Panther on Monday. Panther received his award from the Durango Congress before the match. Rudos were DQed for excessive violence in the first. Niebla beat Mistico in the second, and Panther submitted Averno to the nudo lagunero in the third (with Averno giving up before Panther even got him off the mat!) Averno and Panther challenged each other after the match. Panther wanted a date for a hair match, Averno would only accept if it was a one fall submission match.
4) Valiente b Fuego [En Busca de un Idolo]
Valiente won in a hurried feeling match. Judges seemed okay with it; Valiente scored a 10, 7, 8 and 7. for a 32. Fuego scored a 8, 8, 7, 8 for a 31. Tirantes’ harshest criticism were for referee Bestia Negra, who stopped and restated his count during the finish because Fuego’s shoulder was slightly off the mat.
5) Vangellys b Stuka Jr. [En Busca de un Idolo]
Vangelis ripped Stuka’s mask open and submitted him, putting a kneebar on Stuka’s bad leg. Judges loved Vangelis, giving him a 10, 10, 9, 10 for a 39. Tirantes was critical of Stuka for wrestling hurt, and Stuka scored a 8, 9, 8, 3 for a 28.
6) Negro Casas, Shocker, Terrible DQ Máximo, Rey Escorpión, Rush [Relevos Increíbles]
Straight falls. Rush got his team disqualified in the first, then fought with partner Rey Escorpion to cause his team to lose in the second. Negro, Shocker, and Escorpion challenged Rush to hair matches, but the match was preceded by a Infierno en el Ring teaser video.
7) La Sombra b Volador Jr. [IWGP IC]
Mistico and Averno were seconds. Volador had a Superman outfit on. Sombra took the first fall with a Dragonrana, Volador Jr. tied it up with a Spanish Fly in the second, and both guys kicked out everything in the third. Volador finally fouled Sombra, pulled his mask, and covered. Referee Rafael el Maya counted three, then awarded the match to Sombra by disqualification. Usual challenges followed between these two after the match and fought a bit more. La Sombra made his first defense.

CMLL honored edecan Anabel, who is leaving that role, with an in-ring ceremony including Panico and Guerrero del Futoro. I can’t recall CMLL doing this before for an edecan or a luchador leaving the promotion. It’s very mysterious to us, though I’m sure there are people behind the scenes who know exactly why this was done.

CMLL updated the point table for the first week of En Busca de un Idolo, right after week two finished. Putting it all together:

145 Valiente (40 on fan poll)
122 Vangellys (5 on the fan poll)
96 Stuka Jr. (34 on fan poll)
85 Fuego (17 on fan poll)

Stuka is 0-2, Vangellys is 2-0 and yet Stuka will be ahead of Vangelis if the poll numbers are the same next week. Vangellys needs a big turnaround in the polls to have a chance.

1) Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr. b Centvrión
Match had been announced as Dinamic Black & Imposible vs Golden Magic & Poseidon. 0 for 4.
2) La Chola & Rossy Moreno b Esther Moreno & Lady Apache
Chola landed a splash on Esther Moreno. Still teasing the hair match here.
3) Súper Muñeco, Súper Pinocho, Súper Ratón DQ Black Terry, Scorpio Jr., Shu el Guerrero [WWA TRIOS]
Straight falls for the champions. Second (at least) defense. More tease of Shu/Muneco.
4) Blue Demon Jr. & El Hijo Del Santo b Heddi Karaoui & Zumbi [PWR TAG]
Demon put Zumbi in la de a caballo while Demon submitted Heddi to an armbar to win. Santo & Demon’s first defense.
Rayo took falls 2/3 to win Universo’s hair. Universo has lost his last four recorded hair match.

A feud that restarted for CMLL this spring ends in TxT. Not to a great crowd; looks like maybe a third full. The ruleta de la muerte format does not appear to be a draw; this seems like it would’ve done the same amount if they just announced Rayo vs Universo.

CMLL (SUN) 06/23/2013 Arena Coliseo [CMLL]
1) Bengala & Fresbee b Cholo & Herodes Jr.
2) Bárbaro Cavernario, Disturbio, Hijo del Signo b Black Metal, Metálico, Molotov
Barbaro & Metal’s DF debuts. Barbaro did a lot better. Signo submitted Metalico in the third.
3) Namajague, Puma, Shigeo Okumura b Bushiroad, Delta, Guerrero Maya Jr.
Rudos took 2/3, Okumura fouling Maya. Bushiroad looked good and seems to fit right in. Puma suffered a left shoulder injury in the first fall and was favoring it after the match, but you wouldn’t be able to tell in his wrestling.
4) Diamante b Boby Zavala [lightning]
Diamante won with an armbar headscissors in 5:09.
5) Diamante Azul, Máscara Dorada, Mistico b Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto
Tecnicos took 2/3, winning the last with a star and an Azul tapatia on Averno in the middle.
6) La Máscara, Rush, Titán b Mr. Águila, Psicosis, Volador Jr.
Tencicos took 2/3, Rush & Mascara getting clean pins in the third. La Mascara pointed out he’d beaten Invasors two weeks in a row, and challenged for a trios title match. Rush & Titan supported him, and the Invasors agreed – though there was lots of talk about mask or hair matches to come, and Psicosis threw out a challenge for Mascara’s title.

Show was okay. Title match came out of left field and doesn’t feel like a chance for a title change. Maybe it’s a chance for Aguila to get a convincing win so people won’t suspect he’s losing his hair. Maybe the story will be how Rush reacts if his team loses.

CMLL (SUN) 06/23/2013 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara

2) El Divino & Virgo b Acertijo & Jocker

tecnicos took 1/3, Blanco plancha on Rey Trueno
4) Leo b StarmanGalloSmakerHalcón de PlataArkángel de la MuerteEspectrumRáfagaMaléficoExterminador [Copa 54 Anniversario]
Exterminador replaced Olimpico. Battle royal set sides. Eliminations: Halcon de Plata (Exterminador), Exterminador (foul on Smaker), Smaker (Espectrum), Espectrum (Rafaga), Starman (Leo), Rafaga (Gallo), Gallo (Arkangel), Arkangel (Leo), Malefico (Leo) leaving Leo as the winner. Americo Rocca and Gran Markus Jr. were honored after the match.
5) Atlantis & Valiente DQ Gran Guerrero & Último Guerrero
Tecnicos took 2/3, Ultimo Guerrero fouling Atlantis for the DQ. This sets up a singles match next week.

So much for me assuming the Puebla match would be their last singles match for the time being.

X-Fly beat lost to Dr. Cerebro in their IWRG hair match. More results tomorrow.

IWL announced they’re now affiliated with Pro Wrestling Freedom. Pro Wrestling Freedom turns out to be a small promotion in Kentucky. Of the 50 or so people on the roster, I had only heard of one woman; they’re much smaller stars in their country than even the IWL guys are in theirs. Mad Man Pondo is listed as alumni. This sounds like a very IWL deal.

CMLL (MON) 10/08/2012 Arena Puebla [Porra Fresa]
1) King Jaguar & Siki Ozama Jr. b Black Tiger & Lestat
rudos took 1/3.
2) Mercurio, Pequeño Olímpico, Pierrothito b Acero, Fantasy, Shockercito
rudos took 2/3, Mercurio pulling Fantasy’s mask and saying he’d do the same Sunday.
3) Cancerbero, Raziel, Virus b Metatrón, Stuka Jr., Triton
rudos took 2/3.
4) Misterioso Jr. b Diamante [lightning]
Gori Driver for the win.
5) Negro Casas, Puma King, Tiger b Delta, Guerrero Maya Jr., Hijo del Fantasma
Straight falls for the Casas, Negro surprisingly Maya with a casita when the second fall seemed to be going the tecnicos ways.
6) Diamante Azul, La Sombra, Rush DQ Mr. Águila, Psicosis, Volador Jr.
Azul & Rush did a weird dance before the match. In the first fall, rudos kept breaking Azul & Sombra’s up holds. Rush jumped in the ring to kill them, Tiger Hispano cut him off, Rush accidentally shoved him, and Hispano fell, hitting the ropes as he went down. Crowd mocked the ref, who got up and awarded the fall – to Sombra! Crowd mocked more until Hispano realized he meant to DQ the other team and awarded the fall to the tecnicos instead. Tecnicos took second, and Volador yanked Sombra’s mask for the DQ after avoding him all fall. Sets up a singles match with them next match. Poor match.

Tecnicos took 2/3. Magnus looked as he did prior, inconsistent.
3) Ángel Azteca Jr., Metatrón, Molotov DQ Artillero, Hijo del Signo, Súper Comando
Tecnicos took 1/3. Signo fouled Molotov.
4) Black Warrior, Niebla Roja, Puma King b Ángel de Oro, La Máscara, Rey Cometa
Tecnicos took 1/3. Puma beat Mascara with a campana.
5) La Sombra TLDRAW Volador Jr. [lightning]
Expected good match. Volador had Sombra beat with the Volador Spiral at the time limit, but not in time for the three count. Both pointed out how ridiculous it was for them to be limited to 10 minutes. They protested to the referee, who refused to give them more time. They then took it to ringside commissioner Rambo, who called up “the head of the DF commission” (Fantasma), who also turned them down. Fans and wrestlers were unhappy.
6) Kráneo, Olímpico, Psicosis b Delta, Guerrero Maya Jr., Shocker
Clean win, shockingly so. Rudos won falls 1/3 and only lost the second by DQ foul.

NOTI AAA Facebook, which is not the Offical AAA Facebook but apparently still official, says Guerra de Titanes will take place in Zapopan.

AAA’s been posting it’s uStream chat with Konnan and Dorian from last week on YouTube. Part 1 is here, part 2 is here, and part 3 should be up tomorrow.

The first part is the usual rudo “AAA is great because of you and me!” bit, plus them talking about the issues with Santo. I feel sorry for them having to explain over and over again why they don’t and wouldn’t want to do business with Santo, that’s got to get old. This retelling did have Konnan hilariously imitating the guests on Santo’s talk show telling Santo how great he is.

Part 2 has more interesting stuff to me. Konnan says they’er looking for someone who has that X-Factor, naming Rey Misterio Jr., Sin Cara, Evan Bourne, Eddie Guerrero and Bryan Danielson as guys who have it. A discussion of how happy they are with their relationship with TNA (very happy!) leads to Dorian picking young guys he’s high on and would like to see represent AAA in TNA: Texano & Daga. PPV is brought up, which first leads to a TV discussion.” Dorian says lucha libre doesn’t get the respect from Televisa as other sports, but suggests the full episodes will be available as part of AAA’s new site, which debuts tomorrow. (I’m not sure I totally got that right, which is why it’s not in bold and big print.)   If I understood right, not being on PPV has to do with a variety if issues, including distributors  price, and wanting to air the shows on TV a couple weeks later. Dorian says they’ll be back on TV in the US “pronto.”

Dr. X passed away one year agoSangre Azteca shared his memories.

Mr. Cacao is returning to CMLL this Sunday as part of his honeymoon. It takes a special woman to agree to that; Cacao’s new wife is Vancouver Cat, another wrestler from his promotion. Arkangel de la muerte, part time super villain, vowed to hurt Cacao so much, he won’t be able to spend one night with his wife.

The show at Sala de Armas de la Magdalena Mixhuca this weekend I assumed with the latest Toryumon Mexico show turns out to actually be a benefit for Electrico. Electrico broke his leg at the last Toryumon Mexico show and has just recently got the cast off, and the show is to help him out while he’s not working. Sombra, Asral, Mascara Dorada, Angel de Oro, Pierrothito, Fantasy, Mercurio and Hiroka are all giving gear to be sold off at the show. It reads like Titan and Triton will go back to their old gimmicks for one night, and then that gear will go to raffle winners. Tickets for the show are free if you buy a souvenir.

IWL (SUN) 07/31/2011 Deportivo Tlalli, Tlalnepantla, EdM [kortej]
1) Big Mama & Juan el Ranchero b Centinela & Guerrero Arlequin and Mulusco Jr. & Niño de Fuego and Caderno Punk & Matanza 88 and Black Heart & Hammer
The first two teams had a match (much like the opening show), Molosco’s team won this time, and then more people got involved. Perhaps this is a running bit? This time, it was a gauntlet match. Big Mama’s team was next, beat Molosco’s team, beat the team with no names, and beat Hammer’s team.
2) Freelance, Naruto, Turbo b Kansuke, Samurai del Sol, Tribal
Originally Freelance/Tribal vs Kansuke/Naruto. Kansukue has been unmasked on Toryumon shows, masked on the Lucha Future tour of UK, and unmasked here. First time limit draw, which confused the fans and was immediately made pointless when Valerie appeared to give them five more minutes. Freelance beated Kansuke.
3) Tony Rivera NC Zumbido [super libre]
Bloody brawl, playing off last show’s match. Also: random run-ins by Semental & Mortiz, attacking both men for no obvious reason, until they were in turn attacked by IWL security on orders of Valerie (now 3 for 3 in appearances.) The two ‘teams’ brawled out of the arena and presumably onto the next card. Meanwhile, they didn’t book a finish for Tony Rivera vs Zumbido!
4) Cerebro Maligno, Cerebro Negro, Epitafio, Heavy Boy b El Hijo del Medico Asesino, Epidemia, Fishman Jr., Kung Fu Jr.
A long, tiring match. Elimination rules. Final two were Medico Asesino & Cerbero Negro (using Cena’s music), with Fantasma sneaking into foul Asesino to help his team win. ATM promo followed. Valerie introduced X-LAW champ Serval, who was challenged by a random man for a match an undefined time.
5) Daga DRAW Suicida [IWL INTERNET]
Match of the night, kortej saying it’s the best match of the two shows. 25 minutes, people saying it was worth the iPPV price alone. Still, ends on a double pinfall. Suicida asked for a rematch and would be given one.
6) Craig Classic & Oriental b Heddi Karaoui & Super Crazy
Oriental & Crazy were great. Heddi & Craig were – Oriental & Crazy were great! (It sounds more on Heddi.) Classic pinned Crazy.
7) Ángel o Demonio, León Rojo, Obett, Perico b Balls Mahoney, Low Rider, Mad Man Pondo
Turned into an Atomicos with a random Porro added. I’m just guessing, there were no graphics on this show. Balls replaced Necro Butcher, who is said to have had passport issues, which is something they surely would’ve known ahead of time and was not announced. Crowd was into the match. Pondo & Fantasma did powerbombs on to barbed wire tables for the win.

Go Fight Live says the show will be available for on demand viewing starting 3pm EST tomorrow. Kortej says there wasn’t the camera/production issues of the first show, but it was a long, 3:40 show.

CMLL (SUN) 07/31/2011 Arena Coliseo [CMLL, La Catedral]
1) Aereo & Pequeño Halcón b Mercurio & Pequeño Universo 2000
Tecnicos took 2/3.
2) Enrique Vera Jr., Super Halcon Jr., Trueno b Inquisidor, Rayo Tapatío I, Rayo Tapatío II
Enrique Vera had a really low grade Captain America shield. Guess he liked the movie. This tecnico trio won 1/3, improbably.
3) Estrella Mágica, Goya Kong, Lady Apache b La Comandante, La Seductora, Princesa Blanca
Lady Apache’s return. CMLL.com has been pretty pointing out that Blanca is the national women’s champion. These two threads may end up connecting. Estrella Magica continued filling in for Luna. Tecnicas took 1/3.
4) Misterioso Jr., Shigeo Okumura, Yoshihashi b Blue Panther, Metal Blanco, Valiente
Misterioso snuck in a foul on Panther for the win. CMLL praises Misterioso for being a great rudo, no matter which random parnters he’s given.
5) La Máscara, Máscara Dorada, Shocker DQ El Alebrije, Héctor Garza, Volador Jr.
Straight falls. Mascara had Volador in the campana, and Garza decided to break it up by pulling off La Mascara’s mask, handing it to Volador, and then alerting the referee that Volador had the mask. What a jerk! Fans were chanting for Garza to turn tecnico. No word if Volador joined in on the chant.

When the Volador/Garza match goes down, I am 100% behind Volador.

LLUSA (SAT) 07/30/2011 Hard Rock Casino, Albuquerque, NM [PWTorch]
1) PR Flyer & San Juan Kid b Diamon Face & Máscara Púrpura
three guys who were mostly missing from the last ‘season’, and one guy who’s probably a MTY guy with a slightly different name.
2) Mr. Águila b El Hijo de Aníbal
Anibal was built up as a tecnico, but then got angry at the ref after being rolled up for the loss.
3) Magno DQ Petey Williams
Stevie Richards, a member of The Right, with Williams, ran in for the DQ. Other members John Rekon and Brewer helped, until Marco made the save. The Right offered Marco a spot, but Marco instead made a anti-racism promo (hooray!) and Rocky Romero & Super Nova turned up for a eight man brawl
4) Stevie Richards b Rocky Romero
distraction by Petey to set up the win. Marco tried to make the save agian, but Kip (Billy) Gunn took him out.
5) Oriental b Chi Chi
Pequeno Halloween was with Chi Chi, and was randomlly attacked by Mini Park. Oriental pinned Chi Chi in the meantime. Rebecca Reyes turned up after the match to dance with Park. OK!
6) Marco Corleone b Kip Gunn
The Right interference did not work this time. More brawling between the Right and the tecnicos post match. Marco declared the four tecnicos (Romero, Nova, Magno) as The International Alliance
7) Súper Nova b Petey Williams
Before the match, The Right tried to rename the promotion Professional Wrestling USA: American Warriors and ban all masked, minis and women from the promotion. A rep of the LLUSA commision said ‘no’, and set up this match and the title match to come
8) Magno b Kip Gunn
Barely a match. Kip Gunn vowed to destroy Magno to make up for the loss to Marco, and told the ref to count Magno out. Magno slipped in the ring, cradled Kip, and got the three count.
9) Octagoncito & Pequeño Halloween b Mini Park II & Vladamiro
the Mini Park who turned on Halloween was in fact a Fake Evil Mini Park (!!!!). The real one showed up and attacked him during this match. Halloween beat Evil Red Mini Park for the win.
10) Lizmark Jr. DQ RJ Brewer
Lizmark getting his title rematch; he’d appeared earlier in the show declaring he was a fighting champ when he was champ and Brewer should do the same, and also blaming a deal with the (mostly absent) Sol group for his loss. The Right was banned from ringisde. Sol was less absent here, running in at the end to help out Lizmark. They tossed Lizmark’s cane to him, but Brewer got it and smacked Lizmark. Ref saw the cane, and called the DQ. No title change.

This taping sounds vastly entertaining. LLUSA announced Charlie Malice Jr. will debut on the next taping. Hmmmm. Not sure of the next taping (or when this might ever air, of course), but if you like to read the tea leaves, it’s interesting to note they stopped using licensed music and went to using generic themes instead.

UWE LLF (SAT) 07/30/2011 Arena Lopez Mateos [Black Terry Jr. (flickr)Estrellas del RingThe Gladiatores]

La Comadante (as La Nazi), Luna Magica, Lady Sensacion and Rudeza Infernal were all announced for thsi match but did not appear. Sexy Lady was added to the usual group of DF women.
3) Angelica & La Maligna b Princesa Maya & Princesa Quetzal
Originally announced with Perla Negra & Ultravioleta, with Princesa Quetzal surprised.
4) la Bandida b Reina AztecaShitaraDark Fantasy
Dark Fantasy was mystery luchadora.
5) Chica Tormenta b Hija de Karonte [LLF Juvenil]
Chica Tormenta won the title.
6) Ayako Hamada b Mari ApacheLady Puma
No Simply Luscious, but Mari Apache (!) and Lady Puma were added to the match. Mari & Ayako destroyed young Puma before Mari pinned her, and then Ayako pinned Mari for the win.

Estrellas del Ring has an interview with the new champ.

Other News

Arena Coliseo Monterrey was pretty full tonight.

Sin Cara was announced for the 08/20 WWE live event. Those often change, but is a sign that at least that department thinks he’s coming back after his suspension is over.

The current talent list and tour schedule for the ex-WWE wrestlers working shows in Mexico in September and October is here. Kind of funny that people mentioned as not wanting to work AAA because of the low class arenas are listed as working buildings that are similar or worse.

CMLL in CHIKARA

3) Daizee Haze b Mima Shimoda – Mima attacked Haze after the match
5) FIST (Johnny Gargano & Chuck Taylor) b Atlantis & Rey Bucanero [DQ – Gargano fakes low blow].

Forget that thing I said about promotions CMLL people can win in. Atlantis & Rey were surprise opponents, quite possibly because of how poorly these things have worked out when they’ve been announced in the past, but hopefully this sets up better lines of communication for everyone.

Lucha Libre in Japan

07/31 Kensuke Office: (via purolove.com)

2) Aerostar b Rocky Marvin
Didn’t even know they were working this show. No sign of Jack. However, Jack & Aero did win the Technique Prize for the work in the NOAH tournament; NOAH likes to give out “sorry you didn’t win anything, but we still like you” trophies.

Sombra’s NJPW tour has probably started by the time you read this.

Lineups

IWRG (THU) 08/04/2011 Arena Naucalpan
1) Dragon Fly & Sky Angel vs Dark Devil & El Imposible
2) Bugambilia del Norte, Centurión, Titan vs Comando Negro, Keshin Black, Polifacético
3) Dinamic Black, el Ángel, Golden Magic, Multifacético vs Oficial 911, Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro, Oficial Spartans
4) Hijo de LA Park, Trauma I, Trauma II vs ?, Apolo Estrada Jr., Hijo de Pirata Morgan

Main event is not as much a mystery partner as a name accidentally left off the listing.

The semimain gives me a thought: IWRG really needs to call up AAA and ask if they can have those national atomicos titles. AAA is never going to use them again, IWRG would go nuts with them (and probably put them on AAA wrestlers.)

Titan is probably not the Titan from CMLL that I’ve got it listed as at the moment.

CMLL (SUN) 08/07/2011 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Javier Cruz Jr. vs Templario
2) El Alteño & Hierro vs Drago & León Blanco

4) Metal Blanco, Palacio Negro, Sagrado vs Euforia, Mr. Trueno, Vangelis
5) Brazo de Plata, Rush, Toscano vs Felino, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas

A lot of people say The Hat is the pre-eminent CMLL booking strategy. I say NAH! The strongest CMLL booking idea is booking a no-showing guy repeatedly for no apparent reason. I look forward to Toscano’s bus blockade holding up the year end show.

They finally teamed up Blanco, Negro, and Sagrado again! In the least important show of the week, possibly the Hat at work.

IWRG (SUN) 08/07/2011 Arena Naucalpan

The guys in blue are Los Nuevo Terminators. Not exactly what was expected.

4) Villano IV & Villano V vs Fuerza Guerrera & Rambo
5) Juventud Guerrera, Oriental, Zumbido vs Histeria II, Lizmark Sr., Super Crazy

Juvi announces news group featuring himself, Daga, Zumbi, and Eterno, to be featured in his vanity promotion. The next show for his vanity promotion features Juvi teaming with two other people, and two of the people in his new group facing the third. You know, Mexico, you can actually get people and concepts over if you don’t do moronic things. I know, for some of you, you would have to learn not to do moronic things first to test this concept, but if you work with me that much, you may find some benefits. CARD WILL BE FINE. Radamantis!

CMLL (FRI) 08/19/2011 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Astral, Eléctrico, Mascarita Dorada vs Pequeño Nitro, Pequeño Olímpico, Pierrothito
2) Marcela vs Princesa Blanca [lightning]
3) Fuego, Sagrado, Sangre Azteca vs Dr. X, Shigeo Okumura, Yoshihashi
4) Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas, Volador Jr. vs Máximo, Rush, Super Porky
5) Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto vs La Máscara, La Sombra, Máscara Dorada [CMLL TRIOS]

Main event contingent on Sombra returning home from the G1 in one piece. (It may be over by the time I get this post up.) Yoshihashi in the tercera indicates he’s still not going home, which was the result I was looking for on Monday’s apuesta match. (Your preview of Rush vs Yoshiashi: PAIN.) Dr. X vs Fuego take their feud to a new location. Marcela may have realized there’s another title she can repeatedly fail to win, we’ll see.

04/13: Mexico, GDL, Perros

CMLL (SUN) 04/12 Arena Mexico [box y lucha, SuperLucha, Ovaciones, proyeccion luchistica, Cesar]
1) Sombra de Plata & Trueno b Cholo & Semental
2) Arkangel de la Muerte, Dr. X, Hooligan b Leono, Metalico, Molotov
3) Hijo del Fantasma, La Mascara, Stuka Jr. b Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca, Shigeo Okumura
4) Marcela b Rosa Negra [mask]
5) Atlantis, Lizmark Jr., Ultimo Guerrero b Dos Caras Jr., Maximo, Shocker
6) Negro Casas b Mistico [CMLL WELTER]

Negro took the first with a castia, Mistico did one of his own for the second. In the third, Negro Casas pinned Mistico when Mistico’s second (La Mascara) accidentally distracted the ref, and Negro took Mistico’s mask. The crowd booed Mistico. Stop me if any of this sounds familiar. In the usual mask vs hair mic work after the match, Mistico talked about liking boos, which is a sure way to get the crowd to cheer him.

Dos turned on his partners, of course, and rudos took in straight falls. They seemed to reunite Dos and Lizmark. If I was planning long term here, those two be the next challengers to the tag team titles, so let’s thank god I am meaningless. SuperLuchas did an interview with Maximo this week, and it sounds like he hasn’t decided if he’s leaving or not, but he’d be going to the indies and not AAA if he did.

Rosa Negra vs Marcela reads like a brutal match. Maybe not even in match quality, but in destroying the particpants. Marcela got hurt early on – Rosa moved out of the way of a dive and Marcela hit the stage – and SuperLuchas says she spent most of the match crying. Rosa Negra suffered what is believed to be a major elbow injury in the finishing sequence, and she was put on a stretcher after returning to the locker room, and taken to the hospital. Match still sounds like it’s pretty good, so I hold out hope it’s better than Villano V vs Ultimo Guerrero.

Rosa Negra is Jessica Dayna Hernandez, from Mexico City, 17 years a professional wrestler (and no age given.) The PL link has video (of the MVS video on the big screen) of her unmasking. Obviously, she didn’t stick around for the post match publicity pictures, so it seems everyone just took a picture of her while she was on the stretcher. Remind me never to be a luchaddor.

Molotov’s chin connected hard with the ropes in his match, taking him out of it and requiring seven stitches.

Cesar – who’s new blog looks really interesting – says Tuesday drew over 12,000 and Sunday over 10,000, though these are at Fan Appreciation prices.

CMLL (SUN) 04/12 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [Fuego en El Ring, MT: 4, 5]
1) Leon Blanco & Thunder Boy b Angel del Mal & Infierno [torneo tanque dantes]
2) Palacio Negro & Samurai b Acertijo & Mr. Trueno [torneo tanque dantes]
3) Katana & Malefico b Boomerang & Gallo [torneo tanque dantes]
4) Blue Panther, La Sombra, Mascara Dorada b Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto
5) Rey Bucanero b Volador Jr.

In the most important wrestling league format tournament to end on April 12 (except maybe this one), the favorites were robbed of victory in the final match. Palacio Negro & Samuari reached 8 points (4 wins, 1 loss) with their win. Boomerang & Gallo need to win to match, but Malefico yanked Gallo’s mask and covered him for the win, the first for his team in the tournament. That wraps up the tournament:

8: Palacio Negro & Samurai
7: Boomerang & Gallo (and Meteoro)
5: Leon Blanco & Thunder Boy
4: Acertijo & Mr. Trueno (and Rey Trueno)
4: Angel del Mal & Infierno
2: Katana & Malefico

Note the top 3 teams are the tecnico pairs. Rudos went 2-7 against tecnicos.

In matches people beside me might care about, Rey got Volador clean in the main event, with mask/hair challenges after. In the semimain, Panther caught Averno with an armbar for the finish and requested a shot at his title. Quick, which title is that?

PERROS (SUN) 04/12 Plaza de Toros, Texcoc [SuperLuchas]
1) Dr. Wagner Jr. b el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Cibernetico

The bit they did here, and on Wednesday in Acapulco, is Cibernetico snapping on Perro Jr. after one too many accidents. It is about time for them to get a new main event feud and Cibernetico vs Perro sounds like it – they’ve already got it on the cover of Luchas 2000 #466.

Pierroth II and Pierroth Jr., talking about their recent benefit show for Pierroth and plans for future ones mention that Pierroth is in motor and language rehab right now.

Al Filo del Ring talks to the original Mascarita Sagrada, La Parkita and Octagoncito about AAA passing their names on to others. All have no problem with the men using the name since them – they’re just working under orders – but are unhappy with AAA trying to pretend they don’t exist and trying to keep them from using the name.

Super Astro thinks cage matches are crap lucha and should stop. I love Super Astro.

WagnerMania covers Dr. Wagner Jr.’s first AAA TV match, noting that AAA held a moment of applause for Abismo Negro before the main event. Mr. Reyes has tons of pictures of the show, from the upcoming Gladiatores report. AAA’s recap of the show omits the Juvi skit and mentions Fabi’s not happy with Aerostar for kissing her.

There’s a odd licensing wrestling situation in Los Mochis. Usually, when licensing comes up, it’s that the wrestlers haven’t bothered to get themselves licensed. Here, the wrestlers want and need to get licensed, and the commission hasn’t gotten around to issuing licenses. Local wrestlers have been prevented from working shows outside Los Mochis because those commissions won’t let them work unlicensed, but their commission is ignoring requests to hand out licenses.

Box Y Lucha 2918 has Dr. Wagner in AAA. The article headlines include two more AAA departures: Picudo, and Espectro de Ultratumba (one and done!). FWIW, “Mascara Divina” is listed as working a Villalobos card. Maybe he’s left AAA too, but it could always be one of her characters misspelled. There’s also a new episode of their TV show.

Ohtani’s Jacket checked out Atlantis, El Hijo del Santo, Tony Salazar vs El Satanico, El Dandy, Espectro Jr. from the mid-80s, and Mascara Dorada, Metro, Valiente vs Euforia, Nosferatu, Virus from this week. Why won’t CMLL just do the Valiente/Virus feud already?

CMLL (WED) 04/15 Arena Coliseo Acapulco [apux @ box y lucha]
1) Fuego Negro, Orca, Pez Tigre vs Black Silver Jr., Capitan Atomo, Hijo de Black Silver
2) El Guerrero vs Histrion [hair]
3) Dark Angel & Marcela vs Amapola & Princesa Blanca

First CMLL lineup I’ve heard in this building – which was a weekly stop at one point – since last November.
