09/01 (2): GDL, Tijuana, 10 man cage match, CMLL Lineups

CMLL (TUE) 08/26 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Thunder Boy b Milenio
2) Metatron b Güero Loco
3) Pequeño Damian 666 b Bam Bam
4) Atenea & Lady Apache DQ Amapola & Hiroka
5) Damián 666 b Leon Blanco
6) Terrible & Texano Jr. b Rayman & Sagrado [OCCIDENTE TAG]
7) Atlantis & Último Guerrero b Marco Corelone & Sombra

Sombra replaced Mistico, and the rudos snuck in fouls for the win. Perros won clean, tripping up Sagrado on a springboard attempt to get to the finish. Mini Damian not only beat Bam Bam with a Black Hammer, but snuck in the fifth match to foul Leon Blanco and help the larger version win. Amapola got DQed for excessive violence on Lady Apache, which surely hurt their teamwork on Friday.

indy (FRI) 08/29 Auditorio de Tijuana [superluchas]
3) Blue Demon Jr. & El Hijo Del Santo b LA Park & Super Parka

Parkas were out of control in this match, getting DQ for ripping up the tecnicso masks and excessive violence, to the point where the comission warned them they’d stop the match if they didn’t settle down. (Park said something along the lines of not coming to Tijuana to play with dolls.) Tecnicos took in straight falls when Super Parka attacked the ref, allowing Santo to sneak in a foul and take the win. There’s tease of a Santo/Super Parka hair/mask match. Santo took Parka’s mask, back in 2003.

CANCION (SUN) 08/31 Centro de Espectaculos La Cancion de Tutltitlan [superluchas]
1) Anticristo, Excalibur, Toxico b Cerebro Negro, Fantasma de la Ópera, Men
2) Hermano Black Shadow I & Hermano Black Shadow II b Guerrero Siam & Tailandes
3) Super Calo L Intocable and El Fantasma and el Hijo Del Anibal and Mascara Ano 2000 Jr. and Solar I and Dr. Wagner Jr. and Zumbido and Lizmark Jr. and Toscano [cage, hair]

As everyone suspected, Super Calo lost his hair. Intocable winning it is no shocker either. They ran an angle where Zumbido hit both guys with a chair being the second to last guy out, so I guess there’s a feud here somewhere.

Sololuchas has full results of the AULL show.

CMLL (FRI) 09/05 Arena Mexico
1) Angel de Oro, Flash, Stuka Jr. vs Arkangel de la Muerte, Dr. X, Skandalo
2) Máximo, Metalik, Valiente vs Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca, Virus
3) La Máscara, Mictlán, Sagrado vs Damián 666, Dragon Rojo Jr., Mr. Águila
4) Blue Panther, La Sombra, Marco Corelone vs Atlantis, Lizmark Jr., Último Guerrero
5) Dos Caras Jr., Dr. Wagner Jr., Volador Jr. vs Heavy Metal, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas

don’t they need to announce Wagner/Niebla for the masks ASAP if they’re going to do it? They keep hinting in that direction.

Even more Mictlan/Dragon Rojo. Even more UG/Blue Panther. Panther/UG would obviously mean more in a mask match, but I don’t think UG/V5/Panther would mean significantly more since no one’s going to believe Ultimo Guerero is losing his mask to one of those two.

CMLL (SUN) 09/07 Arena Coliseo
1) Astro Boy & Sombra de Plata vs Cholo & Soberano
2) Fabián el Gitano, Máscara Púrpura, Tony Rivera vs Halcon Negro, Loco Max, Nitro
3) Amapola vs Lady Apache [CMLL WOMEN]
4) Grey Shadow, La Máscara, Sagrado vs Dragon Rojo Jr., Rey Bucanero, Sangre Azteca
5) Blue Panther, La Sombra, Volador Jr. vs Atlantis, Black Warrior, Último Guerrero

Lot ‘o Guerreros.

For some reason, I thought Lady Apache already won this title. That certainly makes the finish on Friday make more sense to me. The question now is, is Apache getting the hair and the belt or was this a 50/50 split?

Maybe someone thought “you know what, we really need another guy for this Tuareg group to really put them over the top (in the segundas). Anyone have Halcon Negro’s number?” Let’s go with that.

Of course, this real news is Cholo appearing. I don’t like his shot at getting his first win. Soberano appears to have shortening his name.

Juvi was interviews on the uh, an audio show who’s name isn’t specifically mentioned on the F4 recap nor is a link given, oops and says he’d like to get in CMLL. I’d like to be President. (No, I wouldn’t.)

They’re writing as many stories in Spain after the CMLL Spain tour as they were during it.

Odd convergence: an Incredibly Strange Wrestling memoir on a Wired.com blog. Everything with ISW is an odd convergence.

Luchaworld has Robert on ’05 IWRG, ACM and AAA TV

3 hours of AAA TV is like watching a weekly house show… it’s so fantastic. I can’t even begin to imagine how amazing CMLL would be with a weekly 3 hour time slot covering a match from Arena Coliseo and the entire Arena Mexico show.

Things change!

03/20: Puebla, Neza, Nuevo Leon, Reynosa

Angel Azteca stories: Notimex, El Siglo de Torreon, La Jornada. Yucatan has photos from his last match. Ovaciones has a note as well.

CMLL (MON) 03/19 Arena Puebla [hugo999 @ box y lucha]
1) Forajido & King Jaguar b Ares & Mr. Rafaga
2) Asturiano, Centella de Oro, the Tiger b Fuerza Chicana, Karissma, Toro Bill Jr.
3) Cerebro Negro, Maniacop, Skandalo b Batman, Leono, Tony Rivera
4) Dos Caras Jr., Heavy Metal, Lizmark Jr. b Damian 666, Halloween, Mr. Aguila
5) Alex Koslov, Heavy Metal, Rey Bucanero DQ Mascara Ano 2000, Olimpico, Ultimo Guerrero

Metal replaced Shocker.

CMLL (SUN) 03/18 Arena Neza [La Porra Ruda de Neza]
1) Cosmotron & Stella b Ambar & Boazz
2) Buho I & Buho II DQ Black Danger & Black Heart
3) Angel Negro & Nopton b Chico Che & Seiya
4) Chac-Mol, Leono, Rayo Tapatio ii DQ Emilio Charles Jr., Skandalo, Terrible
5) Black Warrior, Olimpico, Ultimo Guerrero b Felino, Rayo Tapatio I, Tony Rivera

Chico Che had a neck injury in his match. I’ve finally figured out which one is Black Danger and which one is Black Heart. (The key? A labeled picture. Though I guess I could’ve looked at the “BD” on the boots.) No Ramstein?

CMLL (SUN) 03/18 Gimnasio Nuevo Leon [Mas_Solitario @ el martiente]
1) Mini Damian 666 & Mini Halloween b Mini Olímpico & Último Dragoncito
2) Hiroka & Princesa Sujei b Dark Angel & Lady Apache
3) Tigre Universitario b Diluvio Negro I, La Sombra, Diluvio Negro II
4) Shocker & Silver King b Angel Blanco Jr. & Sangre Azteca
5) Héctor Garza b Super Parka [hair]

The tercera was for some vacant title, which Tigre immediatly revacated because of the screwiness of the win. That sure meant a lot.

indy (SAT) 03/17 Palenque de la Feria, Reynosa
1) Chamaco Ortiz & Rocker Boy b Black Star & Misterio Negro
2) Mascarita Sagrada b Mini Pierroth
3) Corazon de Barrio & Misterioso II b Maniaco & Pentagon Black
4) El Hijo del Santo, Psicodelico Jr., Rayman b Angel Blanco Jr., Hator, Super Parka
5) Mil Mascaras b Venom [mask]

Shocker, Garza, Mascara Ano 2000, and Universo 2000 were pulled from the semimain because of Santo’s involvement. Not sure how people ended up working the undercard. The promoter explained the situation before the show, and Santo backed him up before his match. Venom, in this case, is Javier Sandoval of Yuma, a local wrestler.

El Herlado de Tabasco has notes from a radio interview with El Hijo Del Santo. Nothing about CMLL; this must’ve been the one right before the split was announced, because it includes him noting there’s been Misticos, Octagons, Vampiros, and Super Munecos, but none of them have the long lasting star power he does, and he’s said it before. The interview is mostly about the marine ecological work he’s doing. La Frontera talks about much the same.
La Presna has a recap of Rey de Reyes. Not many new details; the titular match was the meain event, and the order of elimination of the tag match went Guapos, Fuerza Aerea, and Mexican Powers.
They also have an interview with Rey about going into the HOF.
El Occidental has a bio of Perro Aguayo.

2) Starman, Tigre Blanco, Tony Rivera DQ Apocalipsis, Loco Max, Ramstein
3) Arkangel, Okumura, Sangre Azteca b Mascara Purpura, Mictlan, Virus
4) Alex Koslov, Averno, Mephisto b Felino, Sagrado, Volador Jr.
5) Dos Caras Jr., Lizmark Jr., Shocker b Black Warrior, Olimpico, Tarzan Boy

It appears Mictlan wrestled, so I guess he’s okay.

Mictlan’s one of the interviews in the newest El Halcon. Mictlan says he debuted in 1990 in Arena Coliseo Guadalajara, and his brother and his uncle trained him, but doesn’t reveal their names for obvious reasons. There’s also interviews with La Nazi – she worked as another gimmick before this one? in AAA? – Polvora, Sombra de Plata (who missed the 1st half of ’06 with an hand injury – which could be reinjuried with any strong tug – and gives a long rant about it being up to the 1st/2nd match guys to force the schedulers to move them up rather than complaina bout not giving oppurtinties), and a bio of wrestler turned referee El Judio (the Jew).

11/20 Teleton Arena Mexico Results

CMLL (MON) 11/20 Arena Mexico Results
1) Super Muenco, Super Pinocho, Super Raton b Hombre Sin Nombre, Loco Max, Sangre Azteca
2) Virus CO Mascara Purpura
3) Dos Caras Jr., Mascara Sagrada, Shocker b Blue Demon Jr., Hector Garza, LA Park
4) Blue Panther, Canek, Super Parka b Negro Navarro, Signo, Texano Jr.
5) Villano III, Villano IV, Villano V b Damian 666, Halloween, Mr. Aguila
6) Pierroth, Ultimo Guerrero, Universo 2000 b Electroshock, Satanico, Silver King

I’ve read three reports
– Ovaciones, which says the show was super and drew 10,000
– poster Cesar on Box Y Lucha, who did not like the wrestling at all and found the show far poorly executed than usual
– poster Alvin on El Martiente, who was somewhere in the middle (but definitely on the thumbs up side.)

I don’t know why I didn’t notice this earlier, but it’s funny that in Electroshock’s big return to Arena Mexico, he’s teaming with Silver King and facing Ultimo Guerrero. Last time in Arena Mexico, as part of his one month stint, he was in a trios match teaming with Bronco (Silver King) and facing the Guerreros (including Ultimo), Electro looked bad, the crowd turned on the tecnicos about halfway in the match and there was a rumor the Guerreros had sabotaged Electro’s debut on purpose. This time, Electro got booed just for being there and the crowd never let up on him – if he’s going to be around (and he probably shouldn’t be), they’re going to have to turn him rudo immediately.

At least Electro was there. Groon was MIA. After the second match, they had representatives of each match come out and draw a number to determine the order for the rest of the show (which leads into another issue I’ll get to in a moment.) By incredible luck, Groon’s match happened to be moved to the main event. Combine that with the previously unannounced Virus/Mascara Purpura match (which was said not to be good), and Cesar’s mentioning of long breaks between matches, and it seems like they were stalling for Groon to get to the building. He never did, so either he couldn’t get from wherever else he was working that day in time, or perhaps he was holding CMLL up for more money (it’d fit his rep), but I can’t think missing a CMLL Arena Mexico main event is going to be good for your career. (Of course, they still employ Lizmark Jr., so who really knows.)

In connection with the order drawing, CMLL hyped up that they’d award a trofeo to the best winning trio in the top four matches, and they’d decide the best by bringing them all into the ring at the end of the show, and letting the fans cheer for who they want. Apparently, none of the wrestlers were listening or cared, because everyone else had left by the time was the main event was over. The officials handed the trofeo to the rudos and got out of there. Whoever was in charge of running the show did not have a good night.

Sounds like Mascara Sagrada and Canek were the worst guys on the show, though people weren’t high on the Villanos, El Signo and others on the show, including Satanico in the main event. Blue Panther and Negro Navarro did a lot mat sequence in the first fall, which Ovaciones thought was the greatest thing ever, but Cesar thought was quite bad. Super Parka wore his mask for the whole match, which is something they’ve had people do on legends shows, but never in Arena Mexico before.

Mr. Aguila tried Halloween’s ring announcing spot for the Perros and apparently didn’t learn enough English during his WWE stint – that’s the one thing I want to see from this show.

The 10,000 attendance number is probably not too far off – Monday was a holiday, so they drew a big crowd and may have made some money for the Teleton. I don’t believe this was successful enough to change future plans, but I do believe they’d opt to do it again next year rather than do a show with AAA.
