Mictlan from GdR #56

The second match from this weekend’s GdR, slightly cut to take out breaks and the post match so it’d fit under the 10 minute limit.

You can get it from sendspace here – http://www.sendspace.com/file/f7k2g2 – but it’s not going to last long before hitting the limit. I’m going to put up a version on YouTube, but I need to re-encode it at smaller size.

12/17: Accion, new champ

I’ll go over full results tomorrow, but Alvin’s recap is already up at El Martiente – Sangre Azteca is your new Mexican National Welterweight Champion. (YAY!) The bonus match for next week appears to be a Mistico/Black Warrior title match, though the title in question is the question.

Accion bits…

CMLL: Rey/Dos/Wagner vs Atlantis/Ultimo/Tarzan from last week’s Arena Mexico show. Odd selection of highlights, but the triple dive spot is a nice idea. Tarzan gets launched on a slingshot dive and double Atlantida for the finish.

AAA: Muerte Cibernetico vs Cibernetica from GdT. Hey, Dark Family got new tights. Hey, Hell Brothers got new tights. Lots of run-ins and interference – hey, even a Doctor is running in. Konnan gets stretched out after being beat with one of those big aluminum pipes, so that’s the end of him for a while. Ending spot is actually pretty impressive, Cibernetico choke-throwing Banderas out of the ring and onto tables, which more collapse than break. Not only do they put Muerte in the coffin, but Chessman nails it shut (though they award Cibernetico the victory before that happens, so Chessman’s just having fun.

I haven’t actually started on GdR yet, but may yet tonight. I’m thinking of posting the Mictlan match somewhere so people can decide if it’s Soberano or whomever.

updated 12/16 Coliseo

CMLL changed Sunday’s lineup:

CMLL (SUN) 12/17 Arena Coliseo Lineup
1) Rayo Tapatio I, Rayo Tapatio II vs Cobalto, Zayco
2) Bam Bam, Fantasy, Shockercito vs Mini Damian 666, Mini Halloween, Mini Mr. Aguila
3) Lady Apache vs La Nazi [MEX WOMEN]
4) Felino, Mictlan, Sagrado vs Efesto, Emilio Charles Jr., Misterioso II
5) La Mascara vs Sangre Azteca [MEX WELTER]
6) Mistico, Shocker, Volador Jr. vs Black Warrior, Takemura, Terrible

It’s nice they figured out that Hiroka is not a Mexican – and this situation is why I’m making an exception and would be happy to seee AAA make up their own titles, because as soon as you don’t think you’ll have a non-Mexican challenger, you’ll have a Mexican challenger – but I thought La Nazi was Comadante de Buenos Aires. Don’t tell me that’s an untruth! What will I believe in now?

(watch, now Rosa Negra will end up getting the title match. I should be quiet!)

(saying a quick prayer that GdR gets the better title match in two weekends)

Sangre’s not winning the title, unless he married into a family or they’re really really sorry Negro Casas (seemingly) snaked him out of a NJPW tour (where he would’ve actually won matches!) From a booking standpoint, it is way past time for La Mascara to defend his belt on TV. It’d be nice if La Mascara actually proved himself to be better the generic midcard tecnico (with the non-generic push) reflected in his name.

In an ideal world, we get a 15 minute match with La Mascara distingushing himself (in a positive fashion) from the 1 other guys in the middle of CMLL’s show, and Sangre takes wild bumps. In the likely world, we get a 10 minute match with Mascara doing the usual offense and Sangre takes some wild bumps.

Arena Aficion is not running today. Attendance has been down in recent weeks, but the official reason is today being the dia de Virgin de Guadalupe. (El Sol De Hidalgo) Other places are running special shows for the day.

In Acapulco, before the local anniversary show, everyone went to church – in gear. (El Sol de Acapulco)

12/10 Arena Coliseo results

CMLL (SUN) 12/10 Arena Coliseo Results [alvin]
1) Molotov, Super Nova b Polvora, Vaquero
2) Stuka Jr., Tony Rivera, Valiente b Dr. X, Mr. Mexico, Zayco
3) Hiroka, La Nazi, Rosa Negra b Dark Angel, India Sioux, Marcela
4) Alex Koslov, Eclipse, Sangre Azteca b Felino, La Mascara, Mictlan
5) Mistico, Ohara, Ultimo Dragon DRAW Kenzo Suzuki, Olimpico, Tarzan Boy

It sounds like the main event finish was screwed up – referees lost track of the captains, and ruled it a draw when just secondary people in the match had got a pin. Olimpico and Mistico amused themselves with challenges. After the semimain, Sangre Azteca challenged La Mascara to a Mexican Welterweight Title match, and Mascara accepted, though that’s not listed on any lineup as of yet.

Alvin’s the man for even finding out who they’re doing for the Guy Who Lost The Mask next week. (Mr. Mexico.) I think the feature is dumb and would like to have, I dunno, more wrestling, but I do like the idea of doing people who’ve had many names. If they spent a segment on each of Black Warrior’s mask, they could have a three hour special.
