Mexico & GDL previews, new juniors headed into CMLL (are not that interesting),

ESTO has a preview of tonight’s Arena Mexico show. Neither Ephesto nor Rey Bucanero has to buy a ticket tonight, because they’re in the main event trios: Ephesto/Texano/Terrible vs Rey/Atlantis/UG. Ephesto’s already making mask vs hair challenges, though he’d be okay with a team vs team match.

You know, I’m seriously excited for this prospects of this match – they’re both good guys, and I’m not quite sure about the outcome – but I sure hope this isn’t their big main event against TripleMania.

Just as newsworthy show in Guadalajara. Less for the feud, more that they’re running at all:

CMLL (TUE) 05/19 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Thunder Boy vs Acertijo
2) Idolo vs Virgo
3) Nube Roja vs Exterminador
4) Casanova vs Rey Trueno
5) Gallo & Metal Blanco vs Mascara Magica & Satanico
6) Mascara Dorada & Sagrado vs Dragon Rojo Jr. & Sangre Azteca
7) Hector Garza, Mictlan, Shocker vs Averno, Dos Caras Jr., Mephisto

First show here since April 26th. A lay off of 23 days, or 7 canceled shows. Come to think of it, the Shocker/Dos feud is important if it leads into the anti-TripleMania show. Feels like we’re either getting a double main event or a lot of feuds shoved into a cage. (Shocker/Rey/UG/Atlantis vs Terrible/Texano/Epehsto/Dos? Shocker on the same side as the Guerreros?)

Might as well put Sunday’s lineup here too:

CMLL (SUN) 05/24 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Hierro & Skaxy vs Angel del Mal & Relampago Azul
2) Metatron & Palacio Negro vs Dragon & Rafaga
3) Leon Blanco & Magnum vs Asesino Negro & Infierno
4) Metro, Neutron, Stuka Jr. vs Mr. Trueno, Vangelis, Virus
5) Blue Panther, Mascara Dorada, Sagrado vs Black Warrior, Terrible, Texano Jr.
6) Hector Garza, Mistico, Shocker vs Felino, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas

A lot of extra local guys bundled onto this card to get them some work.

lovewarrior @ el Martinete has Luchas 2000 #470, which lists the three new juniors coming to CMLL
– Ultraman Jr.
– As Jr.
– Rene Guajarado Jr.

Ultraman Jr. has been around since 2003, and has worked stretched for IWRG and AAA without really catching on. He’s worked in CMLL arenas as part of Dragon shows in the past. This is actually the second Ultraman Jr.; the first is Starman, who was forced to change names to avoid a lawsuit from the original.

As (Ace) was a late 70s/80s wrestler, who never made it much big. At least under that name; his career arc indicates he either got hurt and had to retire, or he switched names. As Jr. has turned up in small shows around Mexico City the last couple years, including teaming with As against Signo and Signo Jr. last November.

“Rene Guajardo Jr.” is more accurately Rene Guajardo III, but that’s just not what they say it. His father was still working Monterrey as recent as two years ago, and this one has only worked one EAW show last March.

Reforma has an interview with a Hijo starting today, El Hijo del Sicodelico. He hopes to beat Ultimo Guerrero for the heavyweight title someday. It’s good to have dreams.

AAA has an article on Halcon 78 returning to the promotion on an Oaxaca spot show. “Halcon 78” is from the first year of AAA; he was regimmicked into El Mexicano and worked with AAA all the way thru 2000. As El Mexicano, his name has been popping up on spot show lineups the last year or so, but I’m not sure what led him to go back to his old gimmick.

Box Y Lucha #2922 has the Bizarros on the cover. There’s also a new edition of their TV show.

Mistico tells Box Y Lucha that he’s got ideas for a big fifth anniversary celebration. Also, Mima Shimoda talks about her upcoming pictorial in H Por Hombres.

WagnerMania has an interview with Super Porky.

LuchandoLibre has an interview with the EAW promoters.

LuchaWorld has Robert on Monterrey from 05/02/04 and 05/09/04, as well as KrisZ’s news update.

Haven’t done a poll in a while:

[poll id=”26″]

Mexico results, lineups, AAA owns “Super Porky”?

CMLL (FRI) 05/15 Arena Mexico [SuperLuchas, Record, Cesar, Ovaciones]
1) Sensei & Starman b Inquisidor & Semental
2) Bam Bam, Mascarita Dorada, Shockercito b Pequeño Damian 666, Pequeño Violencia, Pequeño Warrior
3) Amapola b Marcela [lightning]
4) Mascara Dorada, Mictlan, Stuka Jr. b Euforia, Nosferatu, Shigeo Okumura
5) La Mascara, La Sombra, Sagrado b Ephesto, Terrible, Texano Jr.
6) Blue Panther, Mistico, Shocker b Averno, Dos Caras Jr., Mephisto

Neither Shocker or Dos were pinned in their match – Mephisto and Averno got Panther and Mistico in the first fall, then the tecnicos returned the favor in the second and third.

Story of the night was the semimain. Rey Bucanero, not on the card, showed up early in the night to sit ringside (with two women.) Ephesto and his partners got into an argument with him, and ended up beating him up. This distracted them from their match and caused them to lose in straight falls, plus Rey was swearing revenge.

Possibly related, the outside the ring talks was about 3 second generation wrestlers who are headed into CMLL in the next few weeks. There are a trio of juniors that are kinda/sorta related to Bucanero who’d work as back up here, and filler for an anti-TripleMania cage match. (Maybe this ties in to DJ Spectro’s comment about something happening on June 3rd?) Of course, if you look at the lineups, it may be some things a little less exciting.

Mima Shimoda was out with Okumura for his match and helping the rudos, much to the commission’s annoyance. Didn’t help win.

Amapola snuck in the backcracker just before the time limit to win that match.

Mini tecnicos were said to look good. Shockercito pinned Damian with his feet on the ropes for the win, and they seem to be feuding.

Attendence was up from last week (it’d kinda have to be.)

Ovaciones note the passing of Polaris I (Jose Arguello Luna), a EMLL wrestle from the 70s and 80s. He was born in Perote, Veracruz, on January 25, 1946, and also wrestled under the names Pepe Luna and Dr. Macabro (where he lost his mask to Huracan Ramriez) during his 25 year career. He returned as Polaris in 1981, teaming with Los Bravos and Los Guerreros at times, and lost his mask to Climax II in Pista Arena Revolucion in May of 1986.

A bunch of articles from Record:
Toscano is now three weeks out from returning, which would put him back just in time for the anti-TripleMania card. He’s going to be wrestling with a plate and six screws in one fibula.
Shocker sees his feud with Dos Jr. as David versus Goliath and points out David’s strong record in those matchups.
– AAA is claiming they own the name Super Porky (which may be why he’s going under Elvis Porky lately.) Porky says he signed over the right to the name to Antonio Pena when he joined AAA, but only for the time he’d be with the company. Article says AAA is expected to announce a lawsuit in upcoming days.

AAA mentions the Mexician National Cruiserweight Championship, just to point out the new one is not connected (and to say the former champion Karis La Momia has disappeared into oblivion – we could be so lucky) and looks back at TripleMania IV (where Karis La Momia won a mask.)

Kcidis has a drawing of Sombra, and notes the similarity between Sombra, Oro and Diamante Negro’s mask design.

LuchaWorld has Robert on Guerreros del Ring 05/03 and 05/10/08 and 04/18/04 Monterrey.

CMLL (MON) 05/18 Arena Puebla
1) Centella de Oro & SWAT vs Fuerza Chicana & Policeman
2) Lluvia, Marcela, Star Fire vs Crazy Star, Hiroka, Princesa Blanca
3) Fabian el Gitano, Leono, Tony Rivera vs Euforia, Nosferatu, Vangelis
4) Misterioso II, Terrible, Texano Jr. vs La Mascara, Sagrado, Shocker
5) Atlantis, Rey Bucanero, Ultimo Guerrero vs La Sombra, Mistico, Volador Jr.

Main event is a rematch of last week.

CMLL (TUE) 05/19 Arena Mexico
1) Bengala & Molotov vs Cholo & Zayco
2) Pequeno Damian 666, Pequeño Warrior, Pierrothito vs Electrico, Shockercito, Ultimo Dragoncito
3) Flash, Hijo del Sicodelico, Stuka Jr. vs Euforia, Nosferatu, Virus
4) La Sombra, Maximo, Volador Jr. vs Felino, Lizmark Jr., Mr. Niebla
5) Atlantis, Rey Bucanero, Ultimo Guerrero vs Ephesto, Terrible, Texano Jr.

Bengala makes his debut, after being canceled due to the flu. Hijo del Sicodelico was mentioned as coming in a while back – he’s the guy working the California indies, not the one who just signed with WWE.

CMLL (FRI) 05/22 Arena Mexico
1) Principe Valiente & Trueno vs Ramstein & Semental
2) Dr. X, Hooligan, Skandalo vs Angel Azteca Jr., Angel de Oro, Angel de Plata
3) Pequeno Olimpico vs Pequeno Universo 2000 [lightning]
4) Hijo del Fantasma, La Mascara, Mascara Dorada vs Black Warrior, Dragon Rojo Jr., Sangre Azteca
5) Blue Panther, La Sombra, Volador Jr. vs Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto
6) Atlantis, Dos Caras Jr., Ultimo Guerrero vs Hector Garza, Mistico, Shocker

Principe Valiente is (or was) an Arena Queretaro. He sometimes wrestles as Principe Valiente Jr., so that’s one junior, Hijo de Sicodelico is another, and Bengala stands a good chance of being one of the Casas brother’s sons, so I guess they could be the three juniors.

While Bucanero does get a match on Tuesday, it’s interesting that he doesn’t have one on Friday to follow up the angle. Perhaps they’ll follow it up in a different way.

04/13: Mexico, GDL, Perros

CMLL (SUN) 04/12 Arena Mexico [box y lucha, SuperLucha, Ovaciones, proyeccion luchistica, Cesar]
1) Sombra de Plata & Trueno b Cholo & Semental
2) Arkangel de la Muerte, Dr. X, Hooligan b Leono, Metalico, Molotov
3) Hijo del Fantasma, La Mascara, Stuka Jr. b Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca, Shigeo Okumura
4) Marcela b Rosa Negra [mask]
5) Atlantis, Lizmark Jr., Ultimo Guerrero b Dos Caras Jr., Maximo, Shocker
6) Negro Casas b Mistico [CMLL WELTER]

Negro took the first with a castia, Mistico did one of his own for the second. In the third, Negro Casas pinned Mistico when Mistico’s second (La Mascara) accidentally distracted the ref, and Negro took Mistico’s mask. The crowd booed Mistico. Stop me if any of this sounds familiar. In the usual mask vs hair mic work after the match, Mistico talked about liking boos, which is a sure way to get the crowd to cheer him.

Dos turned on his partners, of course, and rudos took in straight falls. They seemed to reunite Dos and Lizmark. If I was planning long term here, those two be the next challengers to the tag team titles, so let’s thank god I am meaningless. SuperLuchas did an interview with Maximo this week, and it sounds like he hasn’t decided if he’s leaving or not, but he’d be going to the indies and not AAA if he did.

Rosa Negra vs Marcela reads like a brutal match. Maybe not even in match quality, but in destroying the particpants. Marcela got hurt early on – Rosa moved out of the way of a dive and Marcela hit the stage – and SuperLuchas says she spent most of the match crying. Rosa Negra suffered what is believed to be a major elbow injury in the finishing sequence, and she was put on a stretcher after returning to the locker room, and taken to the hospital. Match still sounds like it’s pretty good, so I hold out hope it’s better than Villano V vs Ultimo Guerrero.

Rosa Negra is Jessica Dayna Hernandez, from Mexico City, 17 years a professional wrestler (and no age given.) The PL link has video (of the MVS video on the big screen) of her unmasking. Obviously, she didn’t stick around for the post match publicity pictures, so it seems everyone just took a picture of her while she was on the stretcher. Remind me never to be a luchaddor.

Molotov’s chin connected hard with the ropes in his match, taking him out of it and requiring seven stitches.

Cesar – who’s new blog looks really interesting – says Tuesday drew over 12,000 and Sunday over 10,000, though these are at Fan Appreciation prices.

CMLL (SUN) 04/12 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [Fuego en El Ring, MT: 4, 5]
1) Leon Blanco & Thunder Boy b Angel del Mal & Infierno [torneo tanque dantes]
2) Palacio Negro & Samurai b Acertijo & Mr. Trueno [torneo tanque dantes]
3) Katana & Malefico b Boomerang & Gallo [torneo tanque dantes]
4) Blue Panther, La Sombra, Mascara Dorada b Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto
5) Rey Bucanero b Volador Jr.

In the most important wrestling league format tournament to end on April 12 (except maybe this one), the favorites were robbed of victory in the final match. Palacio Negro & Samuari reached 8 points (4 wins, 1 loss) with their win. Boomerang & Gallo need to win to match, but Malefico yanked Gallo’s mask and covered him for the win, the first for his team in the tournament. That wraps up the tournament:

8: Palacio Negro & Samurai
7: Boomerang & Gallo (and Meteoro)
5: Leon Blanco & Thunder Boy
4: Acertijo & Mr. Trueno (and Rey Trueno)
4: Angel del Mal & Infierno
2: Katana & Malefico

Note the top 3 teams are the tecnico pairs. Rudos went 2-7 against tecnicos.

In matches people beside me might care about, Rey got Volador clean in the main event, with mask/hair challenges after. In the semimain, Panther caught Averno with an armbar for the finish and requested a shot at his title. Quick, which title is that?

PERROS (SUN) 04/12 Plaza de Toros, Texcoc [SuperLuchas]
1) Dr. Wagner Jr. b el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Cibernetico

The bit they did here, and on Wednesday in Acapulco, is Cibernetico snapping on Perro Jr. after one too many accidents. It is about time for them to get a new main event feud and Cibernetico vs Perro sounds like it – they’ve already got it on the cover of Luchas 2000 #466.

Pierroth II and Pierroth Jr., talking about their recent benefit show for Pierroth and plans for future ones mention that Pierroth is in motor and language rehab right now.

Al Filo del Ring talks to the original Mascarita Sagrada, La Parkita and Octagoncito about AAA passing their names on to others. All have no problem with the men using the name since them – they’re just working under orders – but are unhappy with AAA trying to pretend they don’t exist and trying to keep them from using the name.

Super Astro thinks cage matches are crap lucha and should stop. I love Super Astro.

WagnerMania covers Dr. Wagner Jr.’s first AAA TV match, noting that AAA held a moment of applause for Abismo Negro before the main event. Mr. Reyes has tons of pictures of the show, from the upcoming Gladiatores report. AAA’s recap of the show omits the Juvi skit and mentions Fabi’s not happy with Aerostar for kissing her.

There’s a odd licensing wrestling situation in Los Mochis. Usually, when licensing comes up, it’s that the wrestlers haven’t bothered to get themselves licensed. Here, the wrestlers want and need to get licensed, and the commission hasn’t gotten around to issuing licenses. Local wrestlers have been prevented from working shows outside Los Mochis because those commissions won’t let them work unlicensed, but their commission is ignoring requests to hand out licenses.

Box Y Lucha 2918 has Dr. Wagner in AAA. The article headlines include two more AAA departures: Picudo, and Espectro de Ultratumba (one and done!). FWIW, “Mascara Divina” is listed as working a Villalobos card. Maybe he’s left AAA too, but it could always be one of her characters misspelled. There’s also a new episode of their TV show.

Ohtani’s Jacket checked out Atlantis, El Hijo del Santo, Tony Salazar vs El Satanico, El Dandy, Espectro Jr. from the mid-80s, and Mascara Dorada, Metro, Valiente vs Euforia, Nosferatu, Virus from this week. Why won’t CMLL just do the Valiente/Virus feud already?

CMLL (WED) 04/15 Arena Coliseo Acapulco [apux @ box y lucha]
1) Fuego Negro, Orca, Pez Tigre vs Black Silver Jr., Capitan Atomo, Hijo de Black Silver
2) El Guerrero vs Histrion [hair]
3) Dark Angel & Marcela vs Amapola & Princesa Blanca

First CMLL lineup I’ve heard in this building – which was a weekly stop at one point – since last November.

01/18: GDL (new Trios champs), IWRG, Coliseo

CMLL (SUN) 01/18 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [MT: main (w/picture of new champs), semifinal]
4) Angel de Oro & Volador Jr. b Rey Bucanero & Satánico
5) Héctor Garza, Hijo de Fantasma, La Máscara b Atlantis, Rey Bucanero Negro Casas, Último Guerrero [CMLL TRIOS]

Hector Garza, Hijo de Fantamsa and La Mascara are the 20th CMLL Champions, winning back the belts they lost in August. Hector is now a five time champ, but this is the first time he’s won it back with the same team. Rudos go from controlling 6 of 8 of the major CMLL championships to half and half in the course of two days. Didn’t see this one coming at all. Negro teaming with UG and Atlantis was a forced situation and didn’t really help anything, just got Negro more into the mix when it came to the TNA stuff. I don’t mind this change, especially if we’re eventually heading to a Hijos del Averno or Poder Mexica contesting these belts.

Champs took the first fall with double Atlantidas. Tecnicos won the second fall, and then the match clean in the third fall, La Mascara getting Atlantis with la campana. Yea, read that again, it’s hard to believe. Champions did not argue, but just walked out after the loss.

Volador and Angel de Oro got a bit of an upset win themselves in the semifinal. After the match, Volador challenged Satanico to a mask vs hair match. This offended Bucanero – how dare Volador challenge his old mentor! – and Rey is giving Volador a shot at the CMLL Light Heavyweight title instead. I would not bet against any challenger right now.

IWRG (THU) 01/15 Arena Naucalpan [Al Filo del Ring]
1) Halcon 2000 b Epidemia
2) Eragon & Galactik b Anticristo Jr. & Avisman
3) Fenix, Freelance, Goleador b Demony, Fantasma de la Ópera, Nemesis IWRG
4) Trauma I, Trauma II, Zatura b Oficial 911, Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro
5) Black Terry, Cerebro Negro, Dr. Cerebro b Barba Roja, Capitán Muerte, Pirata Morgan Jr. [EdM TRIOS]

Champs took the second and third to retain. Zatura bled a lot, but his team got the win and they’ll get a title shot next week.

CMLL (SUN) 01/18 Arena Coliseo [Universal]
5) Místico DQ Black Warrior

Warrior fouled Mistico and then pulled his mask. Gotta cover all the bases.

El Siglo de Torreon talks to Ultimo Guerrero about the beginnings of his career. His father brought him to lucha libre shows from the time he was very little – he says he’s been told he first started talking and walking when at them – and Mano Negra inspired him to become a wrestler. He wrestled locally for five years as Flanagan before going to Mexico City on his own dime and not much more than that. He was a complete unknown and slept on the floor of the Fuerza/Panther Gym at nights and worked for Fuerza Guerrera during the days.

The same newspaper also talks to the Torreon box y lucha comission, who wants to create offical belts. There’d be heavyweight (98 kg and up), light heavy (80-97), middle (71-79), welter (65-69), light (60-64) and feather (59 and down), as well as tag team and trios. Nothing good can come of this! The commission’s ideas is that they’re hold tournaments involving qualtity (and licensed!) wrestlers and hold a hard line about how the titles are defended so the titles retain more credibility than the random belts that float thru here. The ideas is the titles would start here in May. The article also notes less than 10 of the estimated 160 local wrestlers have bothered to renew their licenses.

Rotavio de Queretaro has an interview with Arkangel de la Muerte, who explains the origin of his name. His career as Mr. Cid was not going anywhere and he was thinking off retiring, but suffered an accident that put him in a coma for a week. While in the coma, he saw an angel, and decided that was a gimmick work trying. Arkangel feels he’s getting close to the end of the career – the young people are pushing him – but he’s still like to go back to Japan again, as well as go up to Canada to teach (which was planned at one point apparently. The Dragon Gym affiliate that’s no longer in existence?)

WagnerMania posted video of the tag team title match from Friday and the latest WagnerMania show.

LuchaWorld has Robert looking back at AAA 07/1/07 and GDR 8/4 and FSE 8/5/7. There’s also KrisZ’s news update.

Lineup

IWRG (THU) 01/22 Arena Naucalpan
1) Halcon 2000 vs Comando Gama
2) Eragon & Miss Gaviota vs Anticristo Jr. & Avisman
3) Chico Che & Goleador vs Demony & Xibalva
4) Freelance, Pendulo, Zatura vs Tetsuya, Toxico AAA, Veneno
5) Oficial 911, Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro vs Trauma I, Trauma II, Zatura [IWRG IC TRIOS]

I refuse to predict title matches. No good can come of it!

CMLL (SUN) 01/25 Arena Coliseo
1) Rayo Tapatío I & Rayo Tapatío II vs Apocalipsis & Ramstein
2) Fabián el Gitano, Hijo del Faraon, Leono vs Arkangel de la Muerte, Pólvora, Skandalo
3) Máscara Púrpura, Máximo, Mictlán vs Felino, Vangelis, Virus
4) Blue Panther, Hijo del Fantasma, Toscano vs Black Warrior, Lizmark Jr., Negro Casas
5) Dos Caras Jr., Mark Corleone, Shocker vs Atlantis, Mr. Niebla, Último Guerrero

This is…not particularly interesting.

CMLL (SUN) 01/25 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Boomerang & Virgo vs Angel del Mal & Milenio
2) Casanova (GDL) & Leon Blanco vs Ephesto & Toxico (GDL)
3) Dark Angel, Marcela, Sahori vs Amapola, Medussa, Princesa Blanca
4) Mascara Dorada, Místico, Volador Jr. vs Averno, Mephisto, Rey Bucanero

Obviously going to be changed to a Bucanero/Volador main event. A women’s trios is rare here, especially with no local woman involved. Wonder if they’re getting a title match next week – that’s be three in three weeks, but also give them something noteworthy for the monthly free show (assuming it’s on 02/01.)

IWRG (SUN) 01/25 Arena Naucalpan
1) Eragon & Miss Gaviota vs Avisman & Nemesis IWRG
2) Chico Che, Gemelo Fantastico I, Gemelo Fantastico II vs Black Terry, Cerebro Negro, Dr. Cerebro
3) Freelance, Multifacético, Zumbido vs Demony, Tetsuya, Veneno

Actual main event TBA.

12/19: CMLL, Mexico, Mistico, GDL

CMLL WFS (FRI) 12/19 Velvet Night Club, DF [univsion]
1) Bam Bam b Pequeño Damian 666 [CMLL MINI]
2) Dark Angel ?? La Nazi, Princesa Sujei
3) Dos Caras Jr., Mark Corleone, Shocker ?? Black Warrior, Mr. Niebla, Rey Bucanero

No results for the matches, but you can find a picture of La Mascara “sensually dancing.”

CMLL (SAT) 12/20 Centro de Convenciones de Ciudad Madero, Tamaulipas [box y lucha]
1) Baby Lover & Baby Ruiz b King Boy & Mercurio
2) Alex Montana Jr., Super Lobo, Transmetal b Chuntaro, Darling Boy, Jimmy Torres
3) Mascarita Dorada & Tzuki b Pequeño Damian 666 & Pequeño Halloween
4) Euforia, Nosferatu, Satánico b Astro Boy, Brazo de Platino, Oro Negro
5) La Máscara, Mascara Dorada, Valiente DQ Black Warrior, Nitro, Sangre Azteca
6) Maximo, Sagrado, Volador Jr. DQ Negro Casas, Terrible, Texano Jr.
7) Mephisto & Místico b Averno & Dos Caras Jr. [Relevos Increíbles]

Sixth anniversary show for the local group. Hector Garza missing the show caused changes on the tecnico side for the top 4 matches. It does say Tzuki worked the show, for real. Partners actually got along in the main event, which makes this show notable on it’s own. DQ in the semimain was for local wrestler Loco Castillo attacking Terrible Texano Jr. with a chair for no discernible reason (except he’s surely losing his hair at some point.)

CMLL
CMLL

AAA (SUN) 12/21 Arena Coliseo Monterrey [RFC]
1) Rey Imagen b Sicario
2) Aguila Extrema & Baby Fox b Jorobad I & Jorobad II
3) Diabolik & Guerrero Blanco b Ejecutor & mr. Secuestro
4) Relampago Azul, TDN, Virtual X b Rio Bravo, Tigre Cota, Tito Santana II
5) Laredo Kid & Silver King b Monje Negro Jr. & Pimpinela Escarlata

CMLL (TUE) 12/23 Arena Mexico [ESTO]
1) Pegasso & Rey Cometa b Artillero & Súper Comando
2) Mascarita Dorada, Shockercito, Último Dragoncito DQ Pequeño Universo 2000, Pequeño Violencia, Pequeño Warrior
3) Euforia, Nosferatu, Skandalo b Flash, Leono, Mictlán
4) Dragon Rojo Jr., Felino, Vangelis b Hijo del Fantasma, La Máscara, Valiente
5) Lizmark Jr., Negro Casas, Último Guerrero DQ Dos Caras Jr., Toscano, Volador Jr.

Ultimo Guerrero faked a foul in the main event. Warrior fouled Dorada in the segunda.

CMLL (TUE) 12/23 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [MT]
7) Máximo, Sagrado, Shocker DQ Black Warrior, Mr. Niebla, Rey Bucanero

Rey Bucanero lost when Maximo faked a foul. Those two had feuded all match and discussed a title match (Rey’s) or a hair vs hair match. No result from the semimain, but Gallo keeps talking about putting his mask on the line against Satanico’s hair.

Mistico will be visiting Fray Tormenta on Friday to make peace. Tormenta had ealrier complained about Mistico (and CMLL) forgetting him after he helped introduce Mistico (and, according to the backstory, raised Mistico in his orphanage.) I’m sure the show tomorrow is part of this.

SuperLuchas looks back at Dr. Wagner Jr. taking the CMLL LH title from Pierroth

Sangre Azteca’s group gets the back cover of Ovaciones. Page 18 of Ovaciones has a full page head shot of Rey Misterio, and it gives the impression RAW will only be on Canal 5. Also, it’s now weird seeing a masked photo of Misterio in Ovaciones without seeing the unmasked one next to it.

Everyone else has a report of the last Congress Theater show, and I didn’t go. Slipping. Of course, one of those appears to be the promoter of the show recapping their own show, so I don’t know.

El Manana looks back at the year in Nuevo Laredo lucha libre. As usual, they’re big Laredo Kid (and AAA) fans.

El Sol de Luis interviews retired wrestler Pepe The Exotic.

IWRG (THU) 12/25 Arena Naucalpan [IWRG]
1) Imperio Azteca vs Soldado del Diablo
2) Goleador & Miss Gaviota vs Antaris & Avisman
3) Eragon, Jack, Pendulo vs Capitán Muerte, Trauma I, Trauma II
4) Freelance vs Tetsuya [IWRG IC LIGHT]
5) Oficial 911, Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro vs Black Terry, Cerebro Negro, Dr. Cerebro [IWRG IC TRIOS]

Black Terry’s team is trying to unify the titles, just like the Oficials had before they lost the DF Trios to the other team. The talent is so stretched out on Christmas, IWRG is bringing no one in!

CMLL (TUE) 12/30 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Quazar vs Carlo Roggi
2) La Malinche & Silueta vs Atenea & Magnifica
3) Neutrón vs Rafaga
4) Metatron vs Mr. Trueno [OCCIDENTE MIDDLE]
5) Angel de Oro & Mascara Dorada vs Máscara Mágica & Satánico
6) Hijo del Fantasma, Máximo, Shocker vs Atlantis, Negro Casas, Rey Bucanero

CMLL has Neutron in the title match to, but that is clearly not correct. Metatron was the last champ last time we had a champ here (January 7, 2007) and Mr. Trueno and Metatron have been feuding for the last two weeks, so that’s it. Big week for Angel de Oro!

11/26: Puebla, Mexico, GDL, Spain

CMLL (MON) 11/24 Arena Puebla [hugo999 @ ByL]
1) Blue Center & SWAT b Mr. Rafaga & Sauron

4) Máximo, Mictlan, Pegasso Xtreme b Policeman, Shigeo Okumura, Virus
5) Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas, Rey Bucanero b La Sombra, Místico, Shocker

Attendance was up here.

CMLL (TUE) 11/25 Arena Mexico [ESTO]
1) Angel de Oro & Sombra de Plata b Calígula & Méssala
2) Pequeño Violencia, Pequeño Warrior, Pierrothito b Mascarita Dorada, Nino de Acero, Tzuki
3) Flash, Mictlán, Stuka Jr. DQ Hooligan, Loco Max, Skandalo
4) Hijo del Fantasma, La Sombra, Valiente b Dragon Rojo Jr., Misterioso II, Vangelis
5) Dos Caras Jr., Marco Corelone, Volador Jr. b Black Warrior, Lizmark Jr., Último Guerrero

Tecnicos won the main and semimain clean. In the tercera, rudos got DQed in the first fall for illegally pressing Mictlan over the top rope onto the other tecnicos, then got DQed in the second fall when Loco fouled Mictlan.

CMLL (TUE) 11/25 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [MT]

Mistico/CMLL

Mistico is insane. The story here was Mistico’s return (and Dorada’s debut/return with a new name) in the same building where he got hurt, against the guy who was blamed for failing to catch him on a dive (Rey, and how they explain that without pointing out it’s a work is beyond me, but go with it.) Crowd was behind the rudos, which is apparently normal for Tuesdays in Guadalajara.

Late in the first fall, tecnicos send the rudos to the floor and head for dives. Mistico goes after Rey with a tope, just like last time, but Rey moved again and Mistico crashed and burned again! Dorada got pinned with the Buca Storm, and Mistico got counted out. Luckily, he did not break his collarbone this time, but even if they found ‘a safe way to miss a dive’ (whatever), I can’t believe they’d try it.

Tecnicos rallied to win fall two, Mistico getting Rey with a ‘rana as Dorada did the same to Atlantis. Dorada got Rey win the third fall, and Mistico locked in la Mistica on Atlantis. Just as Atlantis was giving up, Rey came back in and ripped off Mistico’s mask. Mistico challenged for a mask/hair match, Rey refused and pointed out they have five billion titles between them, perhaps one of those instead. The article thinks that a title match will happen on the 12/14 show, but…

CMLL (SUN) 12/14 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Ángel Azteca Jr. & Hijo del Faraon vs Calígula & Méssala
2) Dark Angel, Lady Apache, Princesa Blanca vs Amapola, Hiroka, Princesa Sujei
3) Bam Bam, Tzuki, Último Dragoncito vs Pequeño Violencia, Pequeño Warrior, Pierrothito
4) Hijo del Fantasma, La Sombra, Máximo vs Heavy Metal, Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca
5) Héctor Garza, Místico, Shocker vs Atlantis, Mr. Niebla, Rey Bucanero

This is basically an Arena Mexico show in Guadalajara, and they’re advertising it as a celebration as a 75th Anniversary celebration. Nothing else to note about yesterdays show except they really did have an opener end in a double count out.

CMLL also announced they’re starting to do fan appreciation days for the Arena Coliseo Sunday shows, starting next Sunday. Perhaps that’s why they pushed the title match back, since the first show would be next Sunday. Speaking of, Ovaciones has an interview with Euforia & Nosfreatu, who want a title match already.

Santo in Spain articles
interview in Publico
– usual what is lucha libre article
– usual who is el Santo article
– previews of a Santo movie double feature
– mention of his comic book convention appearance.

There are plenty more, but you get the idea. Whoever’s in charge of interacting with the press for Santo/Todos X El Todos is working hard for their money.

RFC has a video interview with Chessman.

SoloLuchas has an AULL show with a 12 man mask for 01/01/09, but I can’t bring myself to be entering 2009 lineups into the database before Thanksgiving.

They also talk to Chico Che, who was Super Ska before he lost his mask and is willing to fight the Pachuca Chico Che for the rights to the name, and the Junior Capos. Hijo de Cien Caras says he does NOT want to face Santo or Perro, unless they come to IWRG and fight him there.

SuperLuchas looks back at Negro Casas vs Jushin Lyger as part of their continuing their El Toreo series.

In the Laguna, they’re planning to run the usual everyone in CMLL’s home for the holidays and wrestling one show show on 12/21.

Ohtani’s Jacket writes about the Guerreros vs Infernales from 1991, and a really great Gran cochisse vs Satanico title match.
