CMLL

Ovaciones dismisses the idea of Mistico going to WWE, saying he’s locked into a contract with CMLL. I’m glad that’s over. (not) It is nice people are daring to mention it. Ovaciones actual point here is suggesting that major companies respect each other’s contracts, which they should but – it’s the WWE, they don’t.

CMLL (SUN) 03/04 Arena Coliseo [cmll, ova]
1) Mini Olimpico & Shockercito b Fire & Sombrita
2) Fabian el Gitano, Starman, Tony Rivera b Apocalipsis, Hooligan, Ramstein
3) Leono, Tigre Blanco, Tigre Metalico b Hijo de Pierroth, Mogur, Mr. Mexico
4) Olimpico, Pierroth, Universo 2000 b Dos Caras Jr., Lizmark Jr., Marco Corleone
5) Mistico, Shocker, Volador Jr. b Averno, Black Warrior, Mephisto

Universo fouled Marco to pick up the win that match. Befor the tercera, Mogur said he’d only agree to a hair match with Leono if Leono beat him clean – so Leono did.

IWRG (SUN) 03/04 Arena Naucalpan [ova]
1) Aguila Oriental & Celestial b Extrano & Mr. Randal
2) Airon Boy & Antaris b Sadico & Vampiro Metalico
3) Kai, King Boy, Yamato b Kraneo, Peligro, Sadico
4) Bestia Salvaje, Black Terry, Veneno b Cerebro Negro, Dr. Cerebro, Suicida
5) El Dandy DQ Villano IV

IV replaced III in the main event. Dandy claims Villano III is a coward. Rudos left the tecnicos(/IWRG Trios champs) bloody in the semimain.

Hoy Laredo hypes up a match between Konan Big and Mario Bezares tonight in Arena Cuartro Caminos.

Torreon’s Box Y Lucha Comission is shutting down shows starting next weekend if everyone doesn’t get licensed. They’re allowing people to license at the arena on Monday and Thursday, but after that, everyone’s in trouble. (El Siglo de Torreon) Someone at this paper should maybe ask a promoter or a wrestler about this at some point – why aren’t they licensed? If the commission is a powerless group that just rants to the newspaper, that’s a story too.

indy (SUN) 03/04 Arena Coliseo Monterrey [rfc]
1) La Pulga & Ricochet b La Furia & Payaso Loco
2) Corrico, Gardenia, Rosa Salvaje b Armageddon, Burrito, Rey Apostol
3) Difunto I & Difunto II b Corazon Adicto & Sky and Androide & Rey Sagitario
4) Hijo de Espanto II, Pancho Tequila, Potro Jr. b Black Dragon, El Original, Golden Boy
5) Konnan Big b Axxel, Hijo de Solitario, Hijo de Anibal [FILL MIDDLE]

As I read it, Axxel filled in for Rayo de Jalisco Jr., who missing absence when he was due to lose a title, huh. Axxel was FILL Middleweight Champion, who knew? Konnan Big picks up the title, so he’s been FILL Heavyweight, Light Heavyweight, and Middleweight champion over a short time, and in that order. Did Monterrey put in Wellness Program?

AAA (SUN) 03/04 Plaza de Toros La Esperanza [marcomejia2, rfc]
1) Rey Imagen & Virutal X b Euforia & Iron
2) Orus & The Mummy b Apolo Negro & Ben Hur
3) Mini Chessman & Mini Psicosis b Mini Path Finder & Octagoncito
4) Humberto Garza Jr. & Xochitl Hamada b Miss Janeth & Rey Infernal
5) Antifaz, Cirujano, Jordy Stone b Corazon de Barrio, El Brazo, Mascara Divina
6) Brazo de Plata, Chessman, Octagon b Fuerza Guerrera, Hator, Nicho

Magazines
Super Luchas 202 has Super Crazy picking up Mistico at the airport. Question for Mr. Ocampo: why do you post more of your magazine on Box Y Lucha’s forum than your own site? Super Luchas has your IWA-MS guys in AAA pictures, for those looking.
Luchas 2000 358 tease mask vs hair. They’re also teasing Lizmark Jr. rudo for what seems like the third or fourth time in the last year. Put aside that Ultimo could do a lot better than Lizmark Jr. – Julio Cesar Rivera would seem to be plugged in about these things, but this one has gotten stuck. Lucha 2000 Special 19 has moves moves moves.

I’ve figured out why Robert is getting different tag team results than I am – he’s reading a different recap (el martiente) than I am (Satanico’s Mansion.) One recap says Zumbido caused a double pin (which can’t be anything but a 1 point each draw), one recap says clean pin for Zumbido. Double pins are easy to miss if you’re not at the right angle or looking for ’em, so I tend to believe it’s a draw, but I’ll wait for AAA to confirm.

02/28: Monterrey, Tijuana, Neza

CMLL updated their site, but didn’t post Tuesday results yet. Ovaciones covers the Arena Mexico lineup change and has an interview with Super Muneco about the upcoming mask match.

indy (TUE) 02/27 Arena Coliseo Monterrey
1) Corazon Adicto & Hooolywood b Red Flamer & Sky
2) America Salvaje, Pancho Tequila, Vudu b Golden Boy, La Kalaka, Silver Star
3) La Bandida b Dulce Poly [FILL WOMEN]
4) Al Barone, Hijo de Solitario, Potro Jr. b Casasnova, Hijo de Anibal, Humberto Garza Jr.
5) Konan Big b Jorge Castro

indy (SUN) 03/04 Arena Coliseo Monterrey
1) La Furia & Marrullero vs La Pulga & Ricochet
2) Armagedon, Burrito, Rey Apostol vs Black Diamond, Gardenia Azteca, Rosa Salvae
3) Corazon Adictor, La Kalaka, Sky vs Difuno II, Difunto I, Ejecutor
4) Casasnova, Huracan Ramirez Jr., Silver Star vs Al Barone, La Sombra, Vudu
5) Axel, Black Draogn, Golden Boy vs Hijo de Espanto II, Pancho Tequila, Potro Jr.
6) Rayo de Jalisco vs Konnan Big, Hijo de Solitario, Hijo de Anibal [hair, mask, FILL HEAVY]

Okay, Konnan Big must’ve lost the match versus Rayo where Rayo put up the FILL Heavy and Konnan Big put up his hair, because Rayo’s been champ since. But if Konnan Big is putting up his hair here – that means he didn’t get shaved either, right? That wouldn’t be the first time for Konnan Big and this group.

I’d presume Rayo’s dropping the title back here and probably finishing up with this group soon. There’s some talk they might do a Rayo/Solitario mask match eventually, but no one’s losing their mask here.

There’s more about upcoming big shows here on lo mejor de lucha (scroll down to RFC’s 02/28 post.)

MORA (SAT) 02/24 Auditorio de Tijuana [El Halcon]
1) Thunder Murcielago & Thunderbird b Arlequin & Silver Star
2) Black Spider, Rubi Gardeina, Super Astro DQ Depredador, Phobia, Rey Azteca
3) Rayo de Jalisco & Tinieblas Jr. b Blue Demon Jr. & Espectro Jr. [losers advance, toreno, 1st]
4) Dos Caras Jr. & Mil Mascaras b Coco Rojo & Super Muenco [losers advance, toreno, 1st]
5) Olimpico & Rayman b Hijo de Rey Misterio & Infierno [losers advance, toreno, 1st]
6) Blue Demon Jr. & Espectro Jr. b Coco Rojo & Super Muenco [losers advance, toreno, qf]
7) Coco Rojo & Super Muenco b Hijo de Rey Misterio & Infierno [losers advance, toreno, sf]
8) Hijo de Rey Misterio b Infierno [mask, torneo, final]

Infierno’s name is Jorge Luis Rincon

CMLL (SUN) 02/25 Arena Neza [box y lucha foro]
1) Bacteria & Epidemia b Dragon Chino & Rey Mariscal
2) Chac Mool & Lilia b Killer Machine & Nopton
3) Dark Angel & India Sioux b Hiroka & Rosa Negra
4) Sagrado, Texano Jr., Volador Jr. b Hijo de Pierroth, Misterioso Jr., Olimpico
5) Damian 666, Halloween, Mr. Aguila b Alex Koslov, Dos Caras Jr., Heavy Metal

02/27: Misterio, Puebla, Guadalajara, Naucalpan, AULL

La Presna confirms parts of the Rey de Reyes lineup. Rey Misterio will be there (only because it’s supposed to be a benefit for Konnan), and the main event is Cibernetico, Charly Manson, and Chessman vs Scott Steiner, “another one of TNA”, and “another surprise” – the last is surely Kenzo, since that’s what has been mentioned elsewhere.

CMLL (MON) 02/26 Arena Puebla
1) SWAT, the Tigre, Zigma b Fuerza Chicana, Murcielago, Siki Ozama
2) Mini Damian, Mini Halloween, Mini Mr. Aguila b Asturiano, Blue Center, Ultimo Dragoncito
3) Emilio Charles Jr., Ohara, Okumura b Maximo, Metro II, Sagrado
4) Alex Koslov, Ultimo Dragon, Volador Jr. b Efesto, Mephisto, Terrible
5) Averno b Mistico [CMLL MIDDLE]

Averno fouled Mistico and got the pin.

CMLL

CMLL (TUE) 02/27 Arena Aficion [box y lucha]

2) Titan, Mensajero de la Muerte vs Exotico, Blade
3) Negro Navarro, Trauma I, Trauma II vs Enfermero Jr., Okada, Mazausaki

3) Metatron vs Infierno
4) Virus, Metal Blanco, Metalik vs Nitro, Sangre Azteca, Mascara Magica
5) Maximo vs Mr. Power
6) Rey Bucanero, Oro II vs Olimpico, Tarzan Boy

Hey, Oro II still wrestles. Think he was injuried all this time?

IWRG (SUN) 02/25 Arena Naucalpan
1) Puma King b Volcan Negro
2) Antaris, Kai, Yamato b Black Jaguar, Black Stone, Vampiro Metalico
3) Coco Blanco, Coco Rojo, Coco Verde b Dr. Cerebro, Kid Tiger, Suicida

5) Avisman & Black Terry b Cerebro Negro & Freelance [losers advance]
6) Cerebro Negro b Freelance [IWRG WELTER]

No explaination why Cerebro Negro and Suicida switched spots. Dandy and Villano III busted each other open, with a beer bottle coming into play at the finish. Coco Blanco got eliminated in the final fall of the tercera, but snuck back in and fouled Kid Tiger to help his team win.

IWRG (THU) 03/01 Arena Naucalpan
1) Celestial vs Volcan Negro
2) Ave Fenix & Kid Tiger vs Bestial & Dr. Maldad
3) Fantasma de la Opera, Trauma I, Trauma II vs Aki, Fabian el Gitano, Yamato

– Interview with Blue Demon Jr.
– Q&A with Espiritu Guerrero, who has a cool mask
– Bio of El Hlacon

I like the new design.

01/21 Congress Theater Lineup

FMLL

This Sunday, there’s a lucha libre card at the Congress Theatre. I’ve mentioned it before, but in case you’re still unaware

(ongoing thread about it on CPW.)

It’s been a while since I’ve been able to go to a show, so I was actually considering this. The main event is scary – Rayo and Mil are two guys firmly entrenched the ‘living on their reps’ stage of their career. I’m sure there will be plenty of people there who grew up watching them and seeing them in person will take them back to those warm happy memories, but I didn’t, so I’m just left with a bad match. Even still, the undercard could be fun…

…except, as I called when I first mentioned this show, the Bears are playing the same day. It’s not the same time, but the Bears game is pretty much the day. If they win, I want to stick around my TV to find out who they’re playing, and if they lose, I will hate the world and not want to deal with the pain of getting to the Congress Theatre from where I live.

Why aren’t they running on Saturday? They’re running on Friday in LA, so there’s either a show FMLL isn’t mentioning on their site, or they’re just paying Mil and Rayo and the others to hang out for a day. I’m not sure which is better.

I am entertained by them not bothering to announce matches for the undercard. Since they’re no better than half right and don’t mean anything, that’s probably for the best. It’s still too bad they haven’t figured how to announce a start time – that poster lists 6 (bell time?) and AdC’s site goes with 5 (doors open?)

If you check it on Sunday, let me know how it goes.
