Titan, La Mascara, Rush win the national trios titles, Azteca de Oro unmasked, Santo hurt, REINA

CMLL (SUN) 06/30/2013 Arena Coliseo [CMLL]
1) Molotov & Sensei b Camorra & Zayco
tecnicos took 1/3 in a boring match.
2) Bushiroad, Diamante, Leono b Arkángel de la Muerte, Nitro, Skándalo
Leono replaced Starman. Tecnicos took 1/3 in a boring match.
3) Princesa Blanca b Dark Angel [lightning]
Blanca beat Angel with an cradle and a hand on ropes in 8:43. Good match, best of the show so far. Blanca threw around hair match challenges post match.
4) Delta, Guerrero Maya Jr., Sagrado b Felino, Namajague, Shigeo Okumura
Tecnicos took 2/3, including Delta and Guerrero Maya beating Namajague & Okumura. No hint of a title match challenge post match.
5) Diamante Azul, La Sombra, Shocker DQ Pierroth, Rey Bucanero, Volador Jr.
Tecnicos took 1, with Azul breaking Pierroth on a german suplex. Volador fouled Sombra in the second.
6) La Máscara, Rush, Titán b Kráneo, Mr. Águila, Psicosis [MEX TRIOS]
Tecnicos took 2/3 in a disappointingly sloppy match to win the titles. Rush was clearly holding the ropes on the pinfall, but no one brought any attention to it. Invasors fall in their third defense. Post match celebration was pre-empted by another earthquake drill.

Main event title change is very weird. The show ending very quickly (because of the earthquake drill) added to the strange feel. It feels like a hurried change because they had to get the titles off the Invasors because someone is leaving and they’d figure out the rest later. Mr. Aguila is still the strong favorite to lose the Infierno en el Ring cage match, so maybe it’s him. Or maybe someone woke up and decided Rush had to have a title belt. CMLL Universal tournament is not that far away.

Dark Angel vs Princesa Blanca was the best match on the show. Sombra’s listed for a Tuesday night show in Guadalajara and then he’s off to Japan. Terrible finishes up Tuesday in Arena Mexico. That’s going to be a tough turnaround for the NJPW 07/05 show.

CMLL (SUN) 06/30/2013 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) El Divino & Virgo b Évola & Magnum
Divino took 1/3.
2) Esfinge, León Blanco, Metatrón b Acertijo, Espectrum, Infierno
Tecnicos took 1/3.
3) Black Metal, Gallo, Leo, Súper Popular b Bárbaro Cavernario, Exterminador, Maléfico, Ráfaga
Tecnicos took 1/3, Metal defeating Cavernario. Debutee Popular wasn’t involved in any of the finishes.
4) Demonio Rojo b Azteca de Oro [mask]
Azteca de Oro pinned Demonio Rojo in the first, Demonio Rojo took the second, and submitted Oro in the third. Azteca de Oro is Antonio Escobedo, 25 years old, 11 years a vet, which means he started wrestling professionally at 14.
5) Máscara Dorada, Mistico, Valiente b Euforia, Gran Guerrero, Niebla Roja
Estetas took 1/3, Mistica on Euforia in the third.
6) Último Guerrero b Atlantis
Atlantis was again honored for 30 years of wrestling. Atlantis took the first, UG the second, and Gran Guerrero and Ultimo Guerrero pulled a switch in the third fall to get the win.

First time we’ve seen them pull that switch, and probably won’t be the last time.

Hijo del Santo was taken to the hospital after his match in Arena Solidaridad with LA Park and Dr. Wagner. His wife posted a photo of Santo being strechered backstage still in his gear, which suggests this is a storyline and probably build to the mask match they’d like to do in September. The building looks 60% full for the match, which must be a disappointment and suggests it may not be a big deal.

Rob has highlights of 05/28/12 CMLL.

You can see the Infierno en el Ring promo here.

Black Terry Jr. has photos of the Marketing Wrestling show. Skandalo and Coco Rojo bled a disgusting amount.

NJPW confirmed the Shinsuke Nakamura vs Sombra rematch on 07/20 will now be for the IWGP IC championship.

As suspected, Hijo de Avernos got the win here and challenged for a title match next week at the Fan Appreciation show. Tecnicos accepted and it appears it’s on, though the Sunday lineup has not been changed yet on CMLL’s side.

Hooligan replaced Tiger Kid.

SuperLuchas notes a Perros del Mal show in Acapulco which includes Hijo del Santo in the main event. It also lists Psicosis and Histeria in the tercera. I haven’t seen a show result for those two in a while, since they’ve pretty much been off TV since December. If this is a sign they’ve left AAA, they’ll probably be forced to change gimmicks soon; we do know how much AAA loves keeping the Psicosis name around.

Cadena3 has been picked up by SKY satellite.

Periodico Express has a long story about the career of Mini Perro Aguyao. I’ve never heard of a Mini Perro Aguayo (who says he was trained by Principe Aguayo and worked for AAA, (during the early days )but got dropped because he could never get his wrestling license

Shocker is interviewed by Televisa Deportes, but of course all their video is blocked in the US. Can Canada see it? Not that I need to see what Shocker is saying (one can guess)

Box Y Lucha #2913 has Villano V/UG on the cover again, but no teasers. The new TV episode is up.

Canek’s mystery opponent for the 03/18 UWE show turns out to be Cibernetico. They changed the angle at the 02/28 show (and I didn’t pick it up on the recaps at the time), where the deal now is Canek and Cibernetico are squaring off for a shot at Wagner and the UWA Heavyweight title. Cibernetico might have not been originally available for this show, but plans change.

06/29: Mexico preview

ESTO/Valiente not being in this means he’s losing

CMLL (FRI) 06/29 Arena Mexico
1) Fabian el Gitano & Metalico vs Apocalipsis & Hooligan
2) Dark Angel, Diana La Cazadora, Luna Magica vs Amapola, Hiroka, Mima Shimoda
3) Negro Casas & Stuka Jr. vs Dos Caras Jr. & Valiente and Dr. Wagner Jr. & Mascara Purpura and La Sombra & Mistico and Super Comando & Villano V and Flash & Marco Corelone and Euforia & Ultimo Guerrero and Heavy Metal & Super Nova [gran alternativa]
m) Lizmark Jr. vs Blue Panther

Both NotiMex and ESTO run previews based off yesterday’s Heavy Metal press conference. ESTO also has words with the GA particpants and pretends to be interested in the main event. They bring up Blue Panther’s big feud with Love Machine, and this is so not Blue Panther’s big feud with Love Machine. It’s a match.

The WWE Mexico press conference went on without Rey (or anyone from the crew). They hope to do another press conference before the start of the tour, when people might be available.

La Opinion Digital talks to Psicosis II, before he goes off on the Warped Tour. He mentions his father was also a wrestler, which I haven’t heard before.

Isela, one of the CMLL valtes, finished 8th in Miss Bikini of the Universe. She had previous won Miss Bikini Latina.

CMLL (MON) 07/02 Arena Puebla [hugo999]
1) Ares & Toro Bill Jr. vs Mr. Rafaga & Siki Osama Jr.
2) Black Terry, Cerebro Negro, Espiritu Maligno vs Batman, Centella de Oro, the Tiger
3) Felino, Flash, Valiente vs Euforia, Loco Max, Nosferatu
4) Eclipse, Misterioso Ii, Universo 2000 vs Alex Koslov, La Mascara, Marco Corelone
5) Damian 666, Lizmark Jr., Mr. Aguila vs Blue Panther, Dos Caras Jr., Rey Bucanero

06/25: Coliseo, Tijuana, Warped Tour, magazines

CMLL (SUN) 06/24 Arena Coliseo [ovaciones]
1) Rayo Tapatío I & Rayo Tapatío II b Calígula & Zayco
2) Mr. Aguilita, Pequeño Damian 666, Pequeño Halloween b Bam Bam, Pequeño Olímpico, Último Dragoncito
3) Hirooki Goto, Ohara, Shigeo Okumura b Leono, Stuka Jr., Valiente
4) Damián 666, Halloween, Mr. Águila b Heavy Metal, Máximo, Sombra
5) Tozcano, Último Guerrero, Universo 2000 b Dos Caras Jr., Marco Corelone, Rey Bucanero

Dos Caras hurt his knee on a dive in the second fall, but managed to continue. For that, he was fouled and pinned by Universo. Some sort of rematch will be added for this week, but nothing’s been announced. Didn’t sound like a title match quite yet, but it could be a singles.

Sombra replaced Mascara Purpura and his side lost in two falls. Stuka replaced Mictlan.

This is the card so far for Sunday

CMLL (SUN) 07/01 Arena Coliseo
1) Astro Boy & Trueno vs Carrona & Zayco
2) Bam Bam, Shockercito, Tzuki vs Mr. Aguilita, Pequeno Damian, Pequeno Halloween
3) Felino, La Mascara, Valiente vs Euforia, Nosferatu, Satanico
4) Alex Koslov, Heavy Metal, Volador Jr. vs Atlantis, Olimpico, Sangre Azteca

Robert’s reading much more into Valiente and Euforia being in the same match than I am. Tercera is about Valiente’s position right now, I think this was just the usual random match generator.

BAJA (FRI) 06/22 Auditorio de Tijuana [culotron @ DVDMB]
1) Black Spider, El Camaleon, Extassis, Star Boy b Cepillo, Escorpion, Libelula, Pandillero I
2) Alberije, Estrellita, Pimpinela Escarlata b Miss Janeth, Monsther, Polvo de Esterllas
3) Escoria, Espíritu, Muerte Cibernetica b Abismo Negro, Charly Manson, Histeria
4) Sangre Chicana L Tinieblas Jr., Tinieblas Sr., Pirata Morgan, Fuerza Guerrera, Espectro Jr. [hair]

CMLL (SUN) 06/24 Auditorio Nacional [Notimex]
1) La Sombra & Valiente ?? Arkangel de la Muerte & Virus
2) Lady Apache & Marcela b Hiroka & Mima Shimoda
3) Mano Negra, Matematico I, Solar I b Black Terry, Gallo Tapatio Jr., Negro Navarro
4) Marco Corelone, Rayo de Jalisco Jr., Rey Bucanero DQ Blue Demon Jr., LA Park, Último Guerrero

This was part of a Lourdes Grodet photo exhibition. Of course, can’t have a clean finish here – Ultimo yanked Rayo’s mask.

CMLL (MON) 06/25 Arena Puebla [hugo999]
1) Forajido & King Jaguar vs Mr. Rafaga & Siki Osama Jr.
2) Black Terry, Fuerza Chicana, Kraken vs Batman, SWAT, the Tiger
3) Goto, Ohara, Okumura vs Felino, Mascara Purpura, Mictlan
4) La Mascara, La Sombra, Sagrado vs Averno, Mephisto, Sangre Azteca
5) Atlantis, Lizmark Jr., Olimpico vs Negro Casas, Shocker, Volador Jr.

indy (THU) 06/28 Arena Olimpico Laguna de Gomez Palacio [El Siglo de Torreon]
1) Cadete de la Atlantida & Rey Fobia vs Fuego & Zaracatan
2) Espacial & Insolito vs Moro Jr. & Venum
3) Piloto Suicida, Sexy Libra, Sexy Piscis vs Dulce Paola, Piloto Negro, Sexy Rubi
4) Huracan Ramirez Jr. & Sangre Chicana Jr. vs Espanto V & Pentagon

CMLL (FRI) 06/29 Plaza de Toros Joan Sebastian [box y lucha]
1) Arkano, Estruendo, Okawa vs Emperador, Flecha, Rey Lobo
2) India Sioux & Princesa Blanca vs Rosa Negra & Seductora
3) Felino, Maximo, Sagrado vs Arkangel, Dr. X, Misterioso II
4) Alex Koslov, Mistico, Rey Bucanero vs Mr. Aguila, Tarzan Boy, Ultimo Guerrero

This is a 9 PM start, so they could stretch it to go long regardless. Still, if Mistico & UG have to be in Mexico State later in the night, does that affect how long they’ll be in Arena Mexico?

The press release about AAA working the Warped Tour is here. Same lineup as previously noted (Angel, Psicosis, Decnis – which frees up the spot for Alfa on the atomico team, Mini Charly – I wonder if he’ll meet Other Mini Charly?, Mini Chessman, Super AAA, Piero as ref and it sounds like Dorian Roldan as management.) There’s a couple of lines that boggle my mind, though.

For over 14 years AAA has been the premier wrestling league in Mexico, and enjoys a near 80% share of ticket sales domestically.

“80% of tickets sold?” Where did that number come from?

Antena3 writes about Santo and Scorpio Jr. in Madrid.

Misterioso, Cassandro and Mascarita Sagrada were among luchadores at a show in Salt Lake City Tribune.

Magazines
Super Luchas #218 has Cibernetico and Latin Lover about to shake hands
Luchas 2000 #374 has Cibernetico and Latin Lover shaking hands
Box Y Lucha #2824 has neither Cibernetico nor Latin Lover, but the teased departures mentioned previously. I believe they’re just teases at this point, as if either guy could show up at the other side’s next big show, or not at all. Still not sure what Warrior’s deal is (I’m guessing money, as other people take his spot vs Mistico), but Intocable’s problem seems to be the continued Latin Lover vs Other Dancing Gimmicks deal.

Psicosis II took Abismo’s spot – in this match, and seemingly with the Vipers at this point, since he got the winning pin. Dunno why Pimpi and Polvo swapped sides, but I do know Billy actually beat Gran Apache with a move – I wonder if he’s fighting now.

No idea on Cibernetico’s surprise. More details if/when AAA posts them.

AAA TV (SAT) 05/26 Centro de Convenciones, Minatitlan, Veracruz [Payable XXX @ box y lucha]

2) Fabi Apache, La Diabolica, Rossy Moreno b Cinthia Moreno, Estrellita, Sexy Star

4) Antifaz del Norte, Fuerza Guerrera, Histeria, Psicosis II b Alberije, Charly Manson, El Elegido, Juventud Guerrera
5) Cuervo, Escoria, Ozz b Crazy Boy, Extreme Tiger, Joe Lider
6) Cuervo, El Mesias, Kenzo Suzuki, Ozz, Scoria b Chessman, Cibernetico, Zorro b Chessman, Cibernetico, Zorro

Something’s up with Abismo, because he missed this taping as well. The recap says “the Sect” replaced him in the match, so maybe that should more or different people – I’ll fix it when AAA throws up the results on their site. I’m sure everyone ran in, and Charly got in the last shot to help his team.

Somehow, even though the announced mystery partner was on the Sect’s side, Extreme Tiger ended up being a mystery partner with the Mexican Powers. He’s the newest member of the group – it was pretty obvious he was either going to be teaming with them or fighting against them, so they keep doing their style of matches and absolutely nothing else.

On the last taping, Gran Apache got busted open against the Air Force. He and Calo destroyed Laredo and Super Fly here, losing the match only because of excessive violence.

Mr. Niebla also seems a bit MIA; Psicosis II filled in for him in the fourth match. Estrellita might have gotten hurt on a Fabi Apache suplex.
