01/20: Mexico

CMLL (FRI) 01/19 Arena Mexico Results [ova, El Alburero de Box Y Lucha Forum]
1) Mini Olímpico, Último Dragoncito b Mini Damian 666, Mini Halloween
2) Dark Angel, India Sioux, Luna Magica b Amapola, Princesa Sujei, Rosa Negra
3) Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto b Felino, La Máscara, Sagrado
4) Blue Panther, Maximo, Negro Casas b Eclipse, Olímpico, Sangre Azteca
5) Atlantis, LA Park, Ultimo Guerrero DQ Dr. Wagner Jr., Shocker, Universo 2000

In the main event, LA Park faked a foul from Shocker and got the call for the win. Park worked oppisite Shocker most of the match, not Wagner despite his insertion into this match.

Lots of card shuffling. Ovaciones doesn’t really address it, but explains the semimain as young guys (Sangre/Maximo) getting an oppurtinty. MIA: Dos Caras Jr., Marco Corelone, Tarzan Boy (who was also missing on Tuesday), Lady Apache. There’s plenty of possible reasons why the three Mexicans could’ve missed this match, but it would seem that all Marco had to do on Friday was get into the country and show up at Arena Mexico. There’s gotta be a story there. Ovaciones hyped the VIP card for tonight, still listing Marco (and Dos), but it’d be quite odd for him to be in DF Saturday if he wasn’t on Sunday.

There’s a thread pointing out Pierroth has been included on an AAA poster, but since it was him masked, I think it might be Pierroth Jr./X-Fly/Mosco/the one who doesn’t actually get CMLL bookings.

GdR Lineup will be much later

01/17: Coliseo, AAA TV, Monterrey, Guadlajara, Toryumon

CMLL

CMLL (TUE) 01/16 Arena Coliseo Results
1) Rayo Tapatio I, Rayo Tapatio II b Carrona, Cobalto
2) Danger, Flash, Super Nova b Polvora, Vaquero, Zayco
3) Apocalipsis, Hooligan, Ramstein b Leono, Tigre Blanco, Tigre Metalico
4) Mictlan, Satanico, Virus DQ Emilio Charles Jr., Okumura, Pierroth
5) Dr. Wagner Jr., Rey Bucanero, Shocker b Canek Jr., Mephisto, Ultimo Guerrero

Misterioso II and Tarzan Boy were replaced by Cnaek Jr. and Mephisto in the main event. Pierroth fouled Virus to get DQed in his match. Leono and one of the Tigres needs to team with a bear.

AAA TV (SAT) 01/20 Parque de Beisbol, Guanajuanto, Guanajuanto
1) Estrellita, Fabi Apache, Cinthia Moreno vs Tiffany, Rossy Moreno, Miss Janeth
2) Chris Stone, Hator vs El Apache, Alliens vs Pegasso, Super Fly vs Scoria, Espiritu [AAA TAG, 1st]
3) Juventud Guerrera, Joe Lider, Psicosis II, Crazy Boy vs Pirata Morgan, Drake, Barba Roja, Pirata Morgan Jr.
4) Alebrije, Elegido, Laredo Kid, Angel vs Abismo Negro, Histeria, Antifaz, ?
5) Octagon, Super Porky, Gronda II vs Scorpio Jr., Alan Stone, Zumbido

They’re doing a “surprise Viper” bit again in the 4th. This is an Octagon tribute show for hitting 25 years of wrestling, so I think you can figure how that main event is going. No La Parka Jr., as he got suspended for a month of shows last tapings. No Hellbrothers because they have no one to fight? Maybe just because it’s Octagon’s night.

RFC is hearing three Mexican wrestlers will probably be joining AAA, either at their first show in Monterrey or the TV taping after.

AAA (SUN) 1/14 Arena Azteca Budokan Results [KrisZ]
1) Drako & Rey Dragon b Takuya & Willy el Exotico
2) Dorado, Galatico, Triple X defeated Flanagan, Ricky Gonzalez, Judas
3) Angel & Fishman Jr. b Histeria & Pirata Morgan Jr.
4) Oriental & Cinthia Moreno b Espiritu & Rossy Moreno [AAA MIXED TAG]
5) Elegido & La Parka Jr. b Abismo Negro & Charly Manson

Judging by the cover of the Box Y Lucha 2801, it’s Cibernetico’s turn to call Latin Lover out. (India Sioux is headed to Japan?)

indy (SUN) 01/14 Arena Coliseo Monterrey Results
1) Corazon Adicto, La Pulga b Angel Negro, Guerrero Griego
2) Burrito, Mini Burro b Toro Blanco, Turbina
3) Ejecutor, La Bestia, Red Flamer b La Kalaka, Nacho Libre, Vagabundo
4) Sky, Turbina b Androide, Rey Sagitario
5) Pancho Tequilla b Golden Boy
6) Konnan Big, La Bella, Vudu b Dulce Poly, Humberto Garza Jr., Sky [cage, electric]

LA Park talked to Ovaciones today. He claimed his feud wasn’t with other wrestlers – it was with the fans in Arena Mexico! I think he could take ’em. Park finds the fans too moody – he acts tecnico, they boo him, he acts rudo, they start cheering him, what gives? Park’s goal for this year is to the take Dr. Wagner’s mask, and he’ll take the fight outside of CMLL if they keep protecting Wagner and refusing to do the match. It’s good he has a backup plan.

Wrestlers Iron Man and Scorpion were honored by the Box Y Lucha comission of Merecieron. (El Manana)

You may have already seen this elsewhere yesterday, but if you haven’t, there’s a show called Viva La Lucha that’s selling itself at the National Association of Television Program Executives conference this week. (It’s probably over by the time you read this.) The trailer’s entertaining in itself, just for the randomness. I’m sure I see WWE (SmackDown and old ECW footage) and TNA clips in there, but the stuff with a Flash – that’s gotta be RXLL, right? If I understand this correctly, this is merely a hype video to find people (a cable company? someone with money!) to get excited enough about the product to talk them, and not actually a preview, but I don’t expect to hear anything more about this. The studio behind it appears to be reputable, but it doesn’t seem like this is farther along than the concept stage. (Thanks to mikeinformer)

The next Toryumon Mexico show will be on 03/04 in Arena Coliseo, and will feature the promised/threatened NWA International Junior Heavyweight Title tournament. Is this the Zero One Title or the one prior to it? Is that a stupid question? I have no idea. This title better be going back to Japan regardless. Anyway, it’s an 8 man tournament, and current first round match ups are

Hijo de Pierroth (Puerto Rico) vs Alex Koslov (Russia)
Chad Malenko (USA) vs Shocker (Mexico)
Hirooki Goto (Japan) vs Veneno (Panama)
Tajiri (Japan) vs Ultimo Dragon (Japan)

I don’t think Hijo de Pierroth will be bringing home the gold. Yes, I know there are lies up there, but I think that’s what we’re supposed to roll with here. Main event isn’t announced, will theoretically feature Mexicans. They’ll also be Toryumon shows on 05/10 (Acapulco) and 05/12 (annual Arena Mexico show – happy birthday to me). [DGUSA and KrisZ]

There’s a thread on Box Y Lucha theorizing why Arena Coliseo Guadalajara isn’t drawing well.

01/13: Mexico

Konnan had his hip operation. (RFC.) He still needs a kidney, but dialysis must’ve made it safe enough to do the surgery.

CMLL (TUE) 01/09 Arena Coliseo Results
1) Espiritu Maligno, Karissma b Carrona, Cobalto
2) Apocalipsis, Caligula, Ramstein b Danger, Molotov, Starman
3) Luna Magica, Marcela, Sahori b Amapola, Medussa, Rosa Negra
4) Felino, Satanico, Virus DQ Canek Jr., Okumura, Pierroth
5) Mascara Ano 2000, Ultimo Guerrero, Universo 2000 DQ Heavy Metal, Lizmark Jr., Shocker DQ

Ovaciones mention that Valiente is looking for any help he can in finding his eight year old daughter, who’s been missing since 12/23.

Pierroth fouled Satanico to end the semimain. Ultimo pulled off his mask and tossed it to Shocker, who got caught with it for the main event DQ.

CMLL (FRI) 01/12 Arena Mexico Results [ova, Alvin @ el martinete]
1) Sombra de Plata, Super Nova b Polvora, Vaquero
2) Fabian el Gitano, Leono, Texano Jr. b Arkangel, Loco Max, Nitro
3) Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto b Blue Panther, Negro Casas, Sagrado
4) Alex Koslov, Sangre Azteca, Ultimo Guerrero DQ La Mascara, Shocker, Volador Jr.
5) Hector Garza, Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Mr. Aguila b Dr. Wagner Jr., Heavy Metal, Rey Bucanero

In the semimain, Ultimo took off his mask, threw at Shocker, who got caught with it. Ever get that deja vu feeling? Ultimo also beat up Ke Monito, who was here with Shocker. In the main event, Dr. Wagner was left “maskless, fouled, and on his back”, so it was a good night for the Perros.

IWRG (SUN) 01/07 Arena Naucalpan Results [The Gladiatores]
1) King Puma b Diablo Jr.
2) Bacteria, Halcon Salvaje b Trauma I, Trauma II
3) Freelance, Suicida, Turbo b Supremo Jr., Avisman, Black Thunder
4) Hijo del Diablo, Veneno, Fantasma de la Opera b Coco Rojo, Coco Verde, Coco Blanco
5) Electroshock, Mascara Sagrada, Negro Navarro b Canek, Mascara Ano 2000 Jr., Okumura

01/03: Coliseo, Monterrey, Tijuana, Pierroth, Crazy Boy

CMLL (TUE) 01/02 Arena Coliseo Results [elhalcon]
1) Mini Fantasy b Sombrita
2) Danger, Molotov, Sombra de Plata b Caligula, Messala, Super Comando
3) Arkangel, Canek Jr., Nitro b Fabian el Gitano, Loco Max, Starman
4) Leono, Maximo, Texano Jr. b Hijo de Pierroth, Okumura, Sangre Azteca
5) Dos Caras Jr., Hijo de Lizmark, Rey Bucanero b Black Warrior, Olimpico, Universo 2000

Bracito de Oro and Fire were missing for the opener, so they just did a singles. Loco Max worked on the tecnico side in the tercera to replace Valiente – and then turned on his partners. Mictlan was subbed out of the fourth match for Leono, and I still don’t have a full idea of what’s going on with him.

Still missing Monday’s results.

indy (TUE) 01/02 Arena Coliseo Monterrey Results
1) Toro Blanco DRAW Corazon Adicto and Burrito
2) Ejecutor, Potro Jr. b La Kalaka, Sky
3) Golden Boy b Vudu
4) Mascara Purpura b La Bestia
5) Humberto Garza Jr. b Pancho Tequilla
6) Dulce Poly b Bandida [FILL WOMEN]

Nicho lost his hair to Rey Misterio Sr. on Monday in the end of a four way cage match with Super Parka and Hijo de Rey Misterio. (Satanico’s Mansion, off hand mention in El Sol de Tijuana)

Pierroth lost to Tarzan Boy the 9 way hair match in Tlaxaca on 12/30. (MorgannaW @ Satanico’s Mansion)

Crazy Boy is helping run a free show tonight in Tulancingo.

12/29: Coliseo, Gudalajara, AAA, Tijuana, SLP, Monterrey

CMLL (TUE) 12/26 Arena Coliseo Results
1) Karissma, Sombra de Plata b Carrona, Vaquero
2) Sensei, Starman, Valiente b Artillero, Super Comando, Zayco
3) Apocalipsis, Dr. X, Ramstein b Fabian el Gitano, Leono, Tony Rivera
4) Nitro, Sangre Azteca, Terrible b Danger, Texano Jr., Virus
5) Averno, Mephisto, Olimpico b Heavy Metal, Negro Casas, Sagrado

Odd to see Karissma working tecnico. Carrona is an unmasked guy who can never seem to face the camera when they’re taking a picture. Danger replaced Mictlan – CMLL hasn’t posted anything on his injury. Terrible cheated to help his team win that match. You see how Averno won the main event.

This would be the perfect time of year to run an Arena Coliseo Tag Team Title tournament.

CMLL (TUE) 12/26 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara Results
1) Virgo b Impostor
2) Neon b Flama
3) Antrax b Valentin Mayo
4) Nube Roja b Danger (Guadalajara)
5) Egipcio b Super Maquian
6) El Gallo, Metro II DQ Mascara Magica, Toxico
7) Hijo de Pierroth, Okumura, Pierroth b Rayman, Rey Bucanero, Satanico

In the main event, Rayman had Pierroth pinned, but there was no ref. Someone from the crowd pounded the mat three times, and Rayman assumed that must’ve been the ref. Pierroth fouled him and got the win.

AAA LG (WED) 12/27 Unidad Deportiva Miguel Aleman Valdez Results [El Sol de Bajio]
1) Enigmatica L Polvo de Estrellas and May Flowers and Cinthia Moreno and Rossy Moreno and el Piero [cage, hair]
2) Charly Manson b Zorro [MEX HEAVY]
3) El Elegido, La Parka Jr. b Abismo Negro, Chessman

Before the show, the first match was listed with just the Morenos and the Exoticos, and I was amazed they were actually having a ‘star’ lose their hair at a spot show. Apparently, I’m a mark.

BAJA (MON) 12/25 Auditiro de Tijuana Results [the gladiatores]
1) Phantom, TG Power, Spank b Mascara Negra, Wama, El Galeno
2) King Azteca, Fobia, Pandillero II, Fabuloso Hernandez, Karisma, Cien Caras Jr., Pierroth Jr. b Pandillero I, Tornado Negro [blindfold, sf]
3) Pandillero I DRAW Tornado Negro [blindfold, final]
4) Angel Blanco Jr. b Super Astro [WWA MIDDLE]
5) Rey Misterio Sr., Hijo de Rey Misterio b Super Parka, Nicho
6) Mil Mascaras, Rayman, Shocker DQ Damian 666, Halloween, Mr. Aguila

The 2/3 matches were probably just supposed to be one – it was one of an escape elimination match (you pin someone, you’re leave) with everyone wearing blindfolds. The last two guys somehow ended up in a draw. The writer called it ‘the match of the year’, not because it was that good, but because it seemed to go that long. The Blanco/Astro match was good and there were apuesta challenges in the Misterio/Nicho/Parka match.

indy (MON) 01/01 Arena Mexico San Luis Potosi Lineup [Sol de SLP]
1) Sombra del Misterio vs Leopardo [Centro WELTER]
2) Cholo Mayor, Danys Boy, Lagarto vs Tigre del Ring, Mensajero, Creazy Star
3) Sabu Jr., Black Fantasy, Fuerza Maligna vs Super Liger, Goblin, Brujo Cosmico [Centro TRIOS]

indy (SUN) 01/02 Arena Coliseo Monterrey Lineup
1) Burrito vs Corazon Adicito
2) La Kalaka & Nacho Libre vs Ejecutor & Mixteco
3) Golden Boy vs Vudu
4) Mascara Pupura vs The Beast
5) Estrella Dorada Jr. vs Potro Jr.
6) Pancho Tequilla vs Humberto Garza Jr.
7) Dulce Poly vs Bandida [FILL FEMENIL]

The Beast’s manager? La Bella. They’ve been doing a mixed tag feud involving the two women in the main event, but it’s surprising (to me, anyway) that it ends up with the women and not the men in a big match.

This is the odd picture of someone in an Olimpico mask on the main page of Bell South‘s website. It’s a teaser for a Weird Jobs article, but they don’t list “luchador”.

OELL 05/14 show

I don’t know if I’m going to write up a proper recap, because there’s not much I want to say and it wasn’t like I was taking notes, but the one big point to hit was the main event.

1st version (when they were just running Congress): Universo, Cien, Mascara vs Perro, Pierroth, el Hijo del Pierroth
2nd version (listed online): Mascara and Cien vs Pierorth and el Hijo del Pierroth
3rd version (on the program we were given): Universo and Cien vs Pierroth and el Hijo del Pierroth.
4th version (actual match): Universo and ??? vs Pierroth and el Hijo del Pierroth.

The ??? totally threw us – it was some guy I don’t think I’ve seen, and also wasn’t a local guy. His gear was similar Averno’s, but he was a little bit bigger. He also didn’t seem to have worked much with Universo before, because they had to do a lot of communicating on tag spots.

I want say Tijuan’s Rey Infernal, but I don’t know if I’m thinking of the right guy.

Anyway, the main event was good. Exactly what you’d expect it to be – yes, they had belts – but Universo was really making it work. Extremely loud slaps. Overturned finish.

I didn’t dig the undercard near as much. Tyme Page did follow thru on his promise to kick a midget, but they were avoiding him and Sagrada doing much together because of the size. Everything else – let’s not say too much about.

They’re running at Congress tommorow, if you still want to check it out. Unless they said something after I left, there was no word about the June show.
