IWRG Thursday results, Bucanero out, Ozz, Panther, Averno, lineups

IWRG (THU) 05/28 Arena Naucalpan [py]
2) Carta Brava Jr. & Vampiro Metalico b Galactik & Mascara Magnifica
3) Diva Salvaje, Goleador, Miss Gaviota DQ Avisman, Fantasma de la Opera, Xibalva
4) Angelico, Chico Che, Freelance b Capitan Muerte, Durango Kid, Tetsuya Bushi
5) Oficial 911, Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro b Trauma I, Trauma II, Zatura [IWRG IC TRIOS]

DQ was for Fantasma fouling Gaviota. In slightly different IWRG news, Mr. Reyes has photos of Freelance and others doing MMA matches.

Rey Bucanero will undergo surgery this week on his left knee, following being injuried by Ephesto at the end of Tuesday’s title match. Rey will be out six months, hoping to be back before Christmas and get his rematch. Bucanero hopes Ultimo Guerrero and Atlantis can get some revenge on him, but he wants Ephesto’s mask.

Record talks Ozz about his career (though no mention of anything before Ozz.) The name comes from the old HBO prision TV show, and Ozz says he got the role when they needed someone after Charly Manson’s injury, and based his look on pictures he saw in metal magazines.

Blue Panther plans on going to El Fantasma to demand a rematch date versus Averno, after Ephesto distracted him. Panther was happy with the battle, and realizes he’ll have to wait until after the Chapions tournament, but he wants a rematch with no seconds to get involved.

Meanwhile, Averno is looking to win the champions tournament, then get his mask match with Mistico. Averno has no recollection of any interference in his match.

Cesar writes about Friday’s Arena Mexico show.

Indy Profiles: DJ Spectro writes about Monje Loco, Proyecction Luchistica does the same for Zaico, Guizmo and Oasis.

SuperLuchas #317 has Konnan on the cover. Not a lot new, except he wants the Juvi case to go to court because he feels like Juvi & Fuerza just are trying to get money out of this and Konnan wants to make an example out of them. There’s also an interview with Fantasma, who says Jack and Silver King are still banned from working in DF and AAA will be fined if they work TripleMania as planned.

Box Y Lucha 2924 has Cibernetico complaining about Perro Jr.

LuchaWorld has Robert on CMLL TV 02/23/08 and Cadena 3 02/09/08, as well as KrisZ’s news update.

2008 AAA TV Taping List
Projected Air Date (#857)
Mexico: 10/12
US: 11/01

You know how I sometimes complain about AAA doing three months of angles on one show, and then no angles for three months? This was the one with all the angles.

The show started with another promo. I’ll let you know when AAA blocking their show out like WWE stops being hilarious. Konnan was in ring with the urn, calling out Roldan so he could hand over his demands (which go unrecorded in AAA’s recap.) Roldan came out with security, who were promptly taken out by Jack, Teddy, Zorro and Electro. Roldan had more help, and Chris Stone, Alan Stone, Killer Clown, Zombie Clown, Psycho Clown (Psycho Circus is AAA!), Octagon, and Super Fly ran out to attack the Legion. In the scrum, Alan got the urn, but it turned out to be a fake. Konnan gave Roldan a two hour dealine to accept the demands, or else.

Opener doesn’t get much write up, just the Apaches beating the rudas.

As the second match was going on, D-Generation-Mex interrupted from the stage to introduce their newest member, Alex Koslov. This distracted Jack & Teddy and cost them the match. After the match, DGM hit the ring to confront Hart Foundation 2. Alex was about to hit Jack with a chair, but X-Pac stopped him, saying they wanted to recruit Evans for the group. X-Pac and Rocky proceeded to beat up Teddy and Nicole with a (sledge?)hammer, causing Teddy to be strechered out.

Clowns are at 210 wins now. The Dark Family (Espiritu replacing Ozz for no mentioned reason) might have won this match, if not for Chessman trying to help out and accidently spearing Espiritu. Psycho covered for the pin.

Fourth match saw Octagon get tied in the ropes and Super Fly killed again like a jobber. After the match, Konnan said the time was up and he wanted Roldan out now. Roldan did come, but instead of meeting Konnan’s demand, suggested a match where if Konnan wins, he keeps the ashes and gets to run AAA, but if Roldan wins, he gets the urn back and Konnan has to retire from wrestling. (I presume they’re having others wrestle this match for them, but it’s not made clear.) Konnan accepted, because he can’t be too worried about having to retire from wrestling; it takes something to show that clip of Konnan losing the retirement match every year while he’s still wrestling, it takes something more to do another match with him and a retirement stip.

Chessman got DQed in his match with Mesias. There’s a mention of excessive violence, but that doesn’t seem to exist in AAA. They also mention him hitting Hijo de Tirantes, which does get you a DQ here. Chessman tied Mesias up in the ropes in a crucfix position (of course!) and poured gasoline on him. Right when Chessman was about to burn Mesias alive, the Dark Family came out – and turned on Chessman. After they finished beating him, they set upon burning Mesias themselves. I guess they really wanted to be the one to do it! This time, Cibernetico made the save for Mesias. And then, the Psycho Circus showed up, and challenged Cibernetico to a match!

If you followed all that, on one read thru, give yourself a gold star. The end product is we’ve got Chessman split right back off from Cuervo/Ozz/Espirtu/Escoria but both groups are still feuding with the iffy Mesias/Cibernetico alliance. And the Clowns are here too.

AAA suggests this may set up a Chessman/Psycho Circus alliance which would not only has potential for entertainment, but could give the Psycho Circus something approaching an endgame (the Dark Family’s atomicos titles.)

In the main event, Zorro lost. That’s all Zorro gets. It seems like Zorro and Konnan are having issues about who’s in charge. Chessman also interrupted the match to challenge Cibernetico to another match. After Cibernetico won, Chessman figured there’s no time like the present and attacked Cibernetico. The save was made by Charly Manson’s music. Charly came out to the stage and said “I have decided to go with…

…” and then he just left. What a jerk!

8) Kenzo Suzuki L Cibernetico, Chessman, Charly Manson, Mesias, X-Pac [cage, hair]

Air Date
Mex: 07/22 – this was a 5 hour show live, so I still think there’s a possibility they split it.
US: 08/11

The following is cribbing heavily from Medio Tempo‘s report, because they’ve got the only detailed account I’ve seen. I’ve bolded a couple of changes I’ve noticed from early reports. You can read prior TripleMania coverage (live, and day after) elsewhere on this webpage.

Charly Manson exited the cage first, followed by X-Pac. X-Pac and Konnan teamed up to lay out Charly on the outside, and set up a whole bunch of tables. Mesias started to escape, Chessman went after him, and that’s when Chessman took the huge bump off the cage to the tables. This left Kenzo and Cibernetico inside. Mesias tried to help by blowing fire at Cibernetico, but Kenzo got it instead, and that lead to the pin.

Konnan got in a cheap shot on Zorro which lead to the Rikishi pin in the semimain. It sounds like Zorro being stretchered out was storyline (selling the Bonzai Drop) while Parka being stretchered out might or might not have been (landed on his bad shoulder while taking a bump for a Sabu move.)

Sangre Chicana and Octagon did work as seconds in the Guerrera v Guerrera battle. Tirantes was the ref, so you can figure how this went early. Octagon did indeed get tied to the ropes to prevent him from helping, and the comeback started with Pepe Casas coming out to cut him free. Somehow in the battle, Sangre Chicana was locked in ambulance to prevent him from interfering, and Juvi pinned Fuerza with Pepe Casas counting. Fuerza offered a handshake post match, but Juvi refused and walked off with Octagon. Juvi should totally decide to be Octagon Jr. now.

In the notLadder match, Extreme Tiger (second) set up Scoria (second) on a table on the floor and went to the top rope to put him thru, but Ozz shoved Extreme Tiger off, and Tiger hit the floor. The table remained unbroken, so Cuervo set up Lider on the table and did hit his dive thru the table, but Lider and Cuervo were hurt in the process. Crazy Boy overcame took out Escoira and Ozz, winning with a (wait for it) chair assisted flying move to Mexican Powers win the tag titles.

Box Y Lucha?/unmasked Super Calo

The Relevos Incredible matchup ended up being Gran Apache & Laredo Kid vs Super Fly & Super Calo, so it was change of plans. Apache & Calo opted to work it like they were tag partners early on, beating down the Fuerza Aerea duo. Somewhere in here, Laredo Kid missed a dive on Calo, but was all right (relatively.) Like recent AAA tag matches, this was one fall to a finish (not elimination style), so when Apache beat Super Fly, it was over.

The Super Fly vs Super Calo match was held after the ladder match and the Guerreras match. Super Calo was revealed to be Rafael Garcia of DF, 15 year wrestler. They did a bit with Alan Stone consoling him to set up the new alliance.

Alebrije & Cuije beat Scorpio Jr. & Guaptio with planchas to win that match.

Alfa beat Oriental with a Dragon Suplex to win the opener. Oriental was KOed in the process.

Lita performed after the show. Ricky Marvin was announced as coming in September.

05/26 AAA TV Taping Lineup (Minatitlan, Veracruz)

Previous: 05/06, 05/12, 05/20

AAA TV (SAT) 05/26 Centro de Convenciones, Minatitlan, Veracruz
1) Canibal, Nemesis AAA, Nygma vs Payaso Carrona, Payaso Miedo, Payaso Terror
2) Cinthia Moreno, Estrellita, Sexi Star vs Fabi Apache, La Diabolica, Rossy Moreno
3) Laredo Kid & Super Fly vs Apache & Super Calo
4) Crazy Boy, Joe Lider, Psicosis II vs ?, Cuervo, Ozz
5) Alebrije, Charly Manson, Elegido, Juventud Guerrera vs Antifaz, Fuerza Guerrera, Histeria, Mr. Niebla
6) Chessman, Cibernetico, Zorro vs Abismo Negro, El Mesias, Kenzo Suzuki

Air Date
Mex: 06/03
US: 06/23

I would say there’s a 99.999% chance the mystery man teaming with the Sect is Extreme Tiger, making his debut. I think we’re much more likely to be headed towards Crazy Boy and Joe Lider completing a title swap and getting the tag team titles rather than adding people to Mexican Powers. If that’s the plan, you can work backwards and see Psicosis II wasn’t needed for the group longer, and Juvi can just wander off his own way (as he tends to do.) Obviously, this match will go back for the MPs.

That’s quite the random collection of tecnicos in the semifinal. Elsewhere, we’re just ticking along as usual – I think we already fulfilled our plot developments for this month.

5) Kenzo Suzuki, Psicosis II, X-Pac b Intocable, Laredo Kid, Zorro
6) Cibernetico b El Mesias

Air Date

US: 06/16

The big angle on the show was Psicosis II turning on his partners, giving the win and the Atomico titles to the Sect. Post match, Prez Roldan appeared to fire Psicosis from AAA for betrayed them, but naturally he just joined the opposition forces. AAA’s recap notes it’s unclear if he’s meant to be a Viper or a member of the Sect.

I guess they could still break Juvi off down the road, but I don’t think this is a last minute switch – if/when Juvi splits, he’s still got to be a tecnico to feud with Fuerza. I’m not quite sure how/when/if that’ll go down.

Psicosis stuck around to wrestle in the next match, because Abismo (and Mini Abismo) were missing from the show. Rudos stole that match. Main event had the Sect helping out Mesias, Chessman in Cibernetico’s corner not being quite enough, and La Parka Jr. and Zorro running out to help Cibernetico win. So they’re still all allied. If this was a US group, I’d think they’d be setting up some War Games like match; maybe here, we’re heading to a big multi man stips match.

Once again, the Air Force/Barrio Boys match got switched to an eight man – they seem to be pushing Alan, Decnnis, Apache and Super Calo as a new unit (or a new version of the Barrio Boys.) At least Rey Cometa made this match. Rudos were on their way to the win when Laredo Kid ran into help his side to a win. That seems unfair.

No names given to the evil clowns, though we know they won. Mascarita Sagrada and, as previous stated, Mini Abismo were missing from the opener. Mini Histeria gave Divina a martiente to sneak a win.

Mesias (Messiah in English) is Ricky Banderas; we’ll see if that sticks around longer than Asesor Cibernetica. KrisZ says Cibernetico was put thru a flaming table, returned, and won the match when Mesias and Scott Steiner screwed up.

AAA announced a Hall of Fame, and immediately inducted Antonio Pena and Rey Misterio Jr. (who was there). They’ll be running a show in Japan this September as an anniversary special – KrisZ has this as on 9/3.

Upcoming:
