11/15: Mexico, Lineups

CMLL (FRI) 11/14 Arena Mexico [ESTO, SuperLuchas, Ovaciones, SoloLuchas]
1) Molotov & Sensei DQ Puma King & Tiger Kid
2) Bam Bam, Mascarita Dorada, Pequeño Olímpico DQ Pequeño Violencia, Pequeño Warrior, Pierrothito
3) La Máscara, Mascara Dorada, Valiente b Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca, Virus
4) Atlantis, Rey Bucanero, Último Guerrero b Blue Panther, Dos Caras Jr., Volador Jr.
5) Héctor Garza, Marco Corelone, Místico b Averno, Mephisto, Toscano

Toscano screwed up in the third fall, got beat down by his partners. They had to bury him on his first name back, you see. Crowd was more against Mistico than was for him; the big complain with Mistico is that he’s superhuman, and they’ve been booking him as superhuman since he got back. Averno & Mephisto still want that tag team title match.

BTW, Marco Corelone said he’s NOT jumping to AAA. Again. In just a stellar moment for journalism, SoloLuchas has just pulled the article from their website, with no explanation or correction. Way to go.

Pierrothito ripped off Olimpico’s mask for the second fall DQ. Puma King fouled Sensei for that DQ.

Dunno if Garza did it this week, but he’s been doing Alex Koslov’s stop sign to set up taking off his shirt and blowing a kiss. Over on SuperLuchas, Alex volunteers to teach Hector all his Russian dances, if he wants to do them.

AAA held (and reported) a press conference for today’s taping. Reads like Silver King may be in Super Fly’s spot.

The next Todos x el Todos tour in Spain will have tickets from 25 to 55 Euros ($31 US to $70US, 413 to 908 Mexican Pesos).

NoroEste has a column ranting about the untrustworthyness of local promoters. In Tampico, the local promoter there insists on the local wrestlers wrestling with AAA or CMLL stars in the semimain or main event, figuring they’ll never get better if they don’t face better people. Another ex-wrestler in the area says the wrestlers aren’t good because the schools aren’t good, and they need to unionize to get more work.

SuperLuchas looks back at El Solitario vs Tiger Jeet Singh and was at the Solar Wrestling Clothes store.

On LuchaWorld, Robert looks back at 2006’s CMLL Anniversary show.

CMLL (MON) 11/17 Arena Puebla
1) Black Tiger & Lestat vs Fuerza Chicana & Siki Ozama
2) Crazy Star, India Sioux, Marcela vs Amapola, Estrella Magica, Princesa Sujei

4) Héctor Garza, Shocker, Volador Jr. vs Heavy Metal, Negro Casas, Toscano
5) Blue Panther vs Mr. Niebla

CMLL (TUE) 11/18 Arena Mexico
1) Metálico & Starman vs Apocalipsis & Pólvora
2) Dark Angel, Goddess, India Sioux vs Medussa, Mima Shimoda, Rosa Negra
3) Axxel, Leono, Mictlán vs Loco Max, Vangelis, Virus
4) Mascara Dorada, Máscara Púrpura, Valiente vs Black Warrior, Dragon Rojo Jr., Misterioso II
5) Blue Panther, Héctor Garza, Volador Jr. vs Atlantis, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas

CMLL (FRI) 11/21 Arena Mexico
1) Angel Azteca & Angel de Oro vs Artillero & Súper Comando
2) Flash, Hijo del Faraon, Stuka Jr. vs Arkangel de la Muerte, Loco Max, Skandalo
3) Euforia, Nosferatu, Sangre Azteca vs Hijo del Fantasma, La Sombra, Máximo
4) Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas, Toscano vs Héctor Garza, Marco Corelone, Mascara Dorada
5) Blue Panther, Dos Caras Jr., Místico vs Averno, Mephisto, Terrible

One last reminder that CMLL won’t be on until CadenaTres’ show. They did a far better job of advertising the switch this time.

11/14: Corelone, Mexico

Wagner thinks youre #1/ESTO
Wagner thinks you're #1/ESTO

This SoloLuchas article about Marco Corelone jumping to AAA is not the best written. It looks like they had 3 lines of a story, then posted an old story (date from June) with a previous rumor that Corelone might jump. Anyway, the new article is sure Corelone’s showing up Saturday in Cuernavaca. If he doesn’t show up tonight in Arena Mexico, we’ll know then.

I’m skeptical – as soon as Alex jumped, we knew Corelone were going to continue to pop up until he’s done in Mexico so the existence of another one doesn’t move me, and everything I’ve read makes it sound like the last thing AAA will be doing at the moment is bringing in another foreigner.

AAA (SAT) 11/08 Auditorio Municipal de Tampico, Tamaulipas [The Gladiatores]
1) Flash (Tampico) b Arana Maligna I
2) Black Master, Corsario Blanco, Lince b Misterio de la Muerte, Pastor Diabolico, Repitilius
3) Disturbio & Mini Charly Manson NC Impulso & Mascarita Divina
4) Killer Clown, Psycho Clown, Zombie Clown b Cuervo, Escoria, Ozz
5) Cibernetico & El Elegido b Abismo Negro II & Chessman

The third match broke down with referee on referee violence and the AAA guys vs the local guys to set up a cage match for the next time thru: Disturbio, Momentum, and Referee Paco La Guayaba vs Mascarita Divina, Mini Charly Manson, Hijo del Tirantes in a cage match with the last out losing their hair.

CMLL (FRI) 11/14 Arena Mexico
1) Molotov & Sensei vs Puma King & Tiger Kid
2) Bam Bam, Mascarita Dorada, Pequeño Olímpico vs Pequeño Violencia, Pequeño Warrior, Pierrothito
3) Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca, Virus vs La Máscara, Mascara Dorada, Valiente
4) Blue Panther, Dos Caras Jr., Volador Jr. vs Atlantis, Rey Bucanero, Último Guerrero
5) Averno, Mephisto, Toscano vs Héctor Garza, Marco Corelone, Místico

ESTO’s preview of today’s show says Wagner is off the show due to CMLL reorganizing their agenda. Notimex does the same thing, saying it has nothing to do with Tuesday. They also hae a bridge to sell you. The bigger talk is Toscano’s return. Ovaciones says Wagner took himself off the show, due to a conflict elsewhere. They talk to Rey Bucanero, who reveals the real reason – Rey beat Wagner so bad on Monday in the Puebla title match, he did the unprofessional thing and ran rather than face Rey again. I choose to believe Rey Bucanero.

Remember, no telecast on Televisa tomorrow. CTres airs the Tuesday show on Saturday, then four matches from this show on Sunday.

Wednesday’s Ovaciones looked back at El Toreo: Huracan Ramierz giving up his mask, el Santo, and stars from all over the world.

Thursday’s Ovaciones was a big interview with Flash & Stuka. Echoing my concern from the lucha times post last night, this is where they should be promoting a title match on Sunday with Euforia & Nosferatu, and they do not. The Infernales are talked up as the next probable challengers, but when that match is happening, no one knows. Flash & Stuka are also looking at challengs from Puma Kid & Tiger Kid and Arkangel & Hooligan and of course wouldn’t mind a shot at Mistico & Hector Garza for the big tag team titles. Individually, Stuka’s looking for match against Averno and Flash wants a title match versus Sangre Azteca. So do I.

Next Wednesday show in Cancha German Evers has Mascara Dorada replacing Sagrado. Here, Sagrado is said to have a broken clavicle.

Los Capos and Super Astro talk about WWE being on TV. Cien and Universo are okay with it, Univeros pointing out it’s been on cable for some time anyway. Mascara Ano 2000 thinks WWE is just theater with danger, not a sport and Mexican fans shouldn’t support it because American fans don’t support Mexican stuff. All three say they would not go to WWE. Really! Meanwhile, Super Astro thinks TV is killing attendance and the jobs of vendors at shows and no wrestling should be on TV.

The Gladiatores have a video interview with Pantera Surena.

Solo Luchas visits Super Pinocho’s gym and talsk to Terror Negro, who’s a marketing student when he’s not wrestling.

Ohtani’s Jacket is very down on Blue Panther & Villano V.

Televisa is looking to distribute AAA wrestling worldwide.

here we go again

AAA’s teasing a surprise for tonight’s SLP taping. Hey, at least they’ve been delivering.  No picture of Mickie James this time, just the ring set up.

You know, if Marco jumps today, that’d give CMLL two days to figure out a replacement main event. I think they could manage that.

In between teasing thing and promising to have the first pictures, you think AAA could maybe set up some sort of store on their site so Psycho Clown doesn’t have to sell via mySpace?

10/09: Paco Alonso on CMLL, Dr. X, Mistico out longer?, Pena, Ovaciones/WWE, Marco/Lizmark

Bam Bams new look/CMLL
Bam Bam's new look/CMLL

Paco Alonso, living in a different world than the rest of us:
– “we are not sleeping on our laurels”
– “we believe we have three or four guys who can be as good as Mistico, or better”
– “lucha libre is now in a boom”
– plans for CMLL to go to Russia, Poland, and Czechoslovakia. Czechoslovakia hasn’t been a country since 1992.

Meanwhile, while everyone thing is supposedly running great in CMLL

Dr. X tells SoloLuchas that if he doesn’t get matches and TV time to be promoted by the end of the year, he’s leaving. He says he’d never looked at going to AAA or leaving for IWRG, but if they came calling now, he’d probably end up going – he’s done all he can, but CMLL isn’t giving him oppurtinies or matches. Dr. X asked for time off when his wife miscarried theri child, but CMLL asked him to work and he worked. He worked when his father died. Now, CMLL won’t give him any work at all.

– echoing the story that was teased in Box Y Lucha, the Wrestling Observer is reporting Mistico re-injured his shoulder trying to get back to wrestling quicker, and will be out until late November or early December.

Antonio Pena’s remembrance was covered in a couple places. La Oreja talks to his family, and notes Konnan held Pena’s remains hostage at a mass in his honor. SoloLuchas gets quotes from Aerostar, Super Fly and Polvo de Estrellas.

Some reactions around about the Ovaciones story yesterday. SuperLuchas notes the general pattern of seeing lucha libre as unblemished and WWE as the devil incarnate, and seems to wish for more honest arguments if arguments are going to be made. To one of the major points in the story, they relate a conversation with DF Commissioner El Fantasma about Super Astro and Ultraman remasking (as Rey Jr. has done). Fantasma cited the rule allowing wrestlers to remask after five years, and has no problem with them choosing to use the same mask. Guess that’s our answer for Silver King too.

Ovaciones also runs a followup interview with El Fantasma, talking about Rey Jr and his mask. It’s back to the regular guy on the lucha beat, by the way. Fantasma says Rey did not wear the mask in CMLL, asked for permission just to wear into the ring, and the commission had no problem with that at that time, so there’s a history of working with Rey on these issues. They’re not so happy with Rey putting up his mask again in WWE (against Kane, this past Sunday), but it’s out of their jurisdiction. Fantasma sees WWE getting on Televisa/TV Azteca as similar to when lucha got back on TV in the 90s – at first, it will hurt attendance because of curiosity, but people will slowly return to the shows because it’s so much better live. Fantasma notes he’s got no authority to take WWE off TV anyway.

ESTO’s notes column has some good info today: as mentioned on CMLL TV, Marco and Lizmark square off in a hair match next Friday. That’s right in the middle of the WWE Mexico Tour, so I guess plans are now to compete instead of laying low (even though they’re so not worried.) Also, Blue Panther will have a anniversary show on October 30th (a Thursday show?)

Speaking of the WWE Tour, Superluchas says WWE Mexico promoters OCESA want to use Dos Caras Jr. for those shows. Seems a bit last minute to happen. CMLL’s probably got him booked for next week!

Luchando Libre posts the TVC Deportes video of the Goddess vs Princesa Sujei finish. I think Goddess was trying for a top rope legdrop, but it’s not very clear. Post match, Goddess says Sujei got lucky and she’s not giving up. This article notes Hiroka, Sujei’s cornerwoman, interfered a lot. The Luchando Libre post notes Hiroka did interfere, but the match was pretty much dominated by Sujei anyway. The Notimex interview with Sujei says they drew 10,000, thus proving Princesa Sujei. People will go to shows if the tickets are 30 pesos, good to know. Sujei hopes to beat more Canadians in her future. (BEWARE, MENTALLO!) I presume Sujei also dislikes hockey, maple surup and The Tragically Hip.

SuperLuchas has more from El Dandy’s meeting with the Box Y Lucha comission; they were originally going to suspend him 3 months from any show in the nation before it got cut down to one month in DF, and that was only because he didn’t attack Demon after he gave him a piledriver. I’m sure they’ll be right on suspended everyone else who’s used a piledriver, and they’re surely not just helping promote a group that has no TV and needs bits like this to remind people they’re around between shows.

Hablando de Catch has photos from the Katharsis lucha libre museum exhbition.

This article about AAA seems to be slightly delusional. It says AAA signed an agreement to send Rey, Eddie and Juvi to WWE, has Vampiro and Cibernetico as new stars and talks about Konnan unable to wrestle after receiving a kidney transplant (well, that one may be close.)

Judging from the preview last week, it looks like the contestants on (US’s) The Amazing Race will be wrestling Boliva’s Cholitas on this Sunday’s episode.

LuchaWorld has Robert on 03/31/06 AAA (the famous show where Kaoma joined the Vipers! also the Air Force debuted) and 04/08/06 CMLL. KrisZ’s news update is also up.

10/06: Coliseo, GDL, AAA notes, Mistico having more surgery?

CMLL (SUN) 10/05 Arena Coliseo [ovaciones]
1) Metálico & Tigre Blanco b Arkangel & Hooligan
2) Fabián el Gitano, Leono, Stuka Jr. b Ephesto, Vangelis, Virus
3) Damián 666, Mephisto, Mr. Águila b Grey Shadow, Sagrado, Volador Jr.
4) Loco Max b Tony Rivera [hair]
5) Blue Panther, Dos Caras Jr., Dr. Wagner Jr. b Atlantis, Black Warrior, Mr. Niebla

Loco Max beating Tony for Loco Max’s first hair is an upset, but not as a big surprise. They tipped off the finish with the note posted on CMLL.com announcing this match. Even if they didn’t, Loco’s lost his hair plenty but always to young guys who they’re trying to get more attention. Rivera’s long stop being a young guy. This seems just so next time Loco is in a hair match (which probably won’t be that long), they can point out he hasn’t lost every single one of them.

I believe Shadow listed as working is a typo on Ovaciones part, but might as well for confirmation. I suppose he could’ve finished up quick there and booked it to AAA just to say he was in both places on the same night (and then would they show it on FSE? Yea, probably.)

SuperLuchas has more on the Rocky Romero jump. Konnan had been talking to him about it for a bit, and Romero jumped because he didn’t feel CMLL was supporting him.

CMLL (SUN) 10/05 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [MT]
5) Lizmark Jr. DQ Marco Corelone

Match was worked around a knee injury to Corelone’s left knee. Sounded more like a story point for the match (and a run thru for the hair match) and not a injury that’ll take Corelone out, but it’s not totally clear. Corelone snuck in a fall with a small package, but Lizmark got him with a half crab in the third fall. Marco gave, gave some more, and Lizmark wasn’t interested in letting go, so Corelone won by DQ.

Box Y Lucha has also sorts of fun teasers for this week’s edition (#2891)
– Mistico is apparently heading back to the operation room, which sounds like he’s going to be out more
– Dos says he’s NOT vetoed from CMLL, which conflicts with what he just said two days ago.
– The Goddess interview makes it sound like she’s already lost her mask (a week early?)
– Paco Alonso is quoted, saying he doesn’t care about WWE TV coming in.

LuchandoLibre has clips of the NWA Mexico show. SuperLuchas updates injuries on the show: Super Muneco is visiting a chiropractor. Blue Demon is in a neck brace, and he and Dandy have a meeting at the DF Box Y Lucha commission tomorrow. SoloLuchas now has it’s notes on the semimain and main and

Al Filo del Ring talks to TVC Deportes about their lucha coverage (they signed a 2 year contract with WWE for RAW, and a 5 year contract with CMLL to show Arena Puebla) and Groon XXX (who says both AAA and CMLL want him and are just waiting for him to say yes, but he wants to wait six more months.) If WWE was willing to pay him what he’s worth and put him top, Groon says he’d go there too.

El Sol de Cuautla previews Tuesday’s shows. I’ll do that…Tuesday.

10/04: Mexico, lineups

CMLL (FRI) 10/03 Arena Mexico [SuperLuchas, Ovaciones, Aficion]
1) Molotov & Trueno DQ Artillero & Súper Comando
2) Bam Bam, Mascarita Dorada, Último Dragoncito DQ Pequeño Damian 666, Pequeño Halloween, Pequeño Warrior
3) Black Warrior, Felino, Olimpico b Alex Koslov, Mictlán, Valiente
4) La Máscara, La Sombra, Marco Corelone b Lizmark Jr., Negro Casas, Rey Bucanero
5) Blue Panther, Dr. Wagner Jr., Héctor Garza b Atlantis, Mr. Niebla, Último Guerrero

Bad attendence, which Ovaciones blames on WWE on TV Azteca. I think it’d still be in a post Anniversary hangover, but it may be both.

Tecnicos won the first fall clean, then second fall by DQ when Ultimo fouled Panther. Ultimo challenged him Panther to a mask vs hair match after. Garza got hurt in this match.

That wasn’t specifically agreed to, but Marco and Lizmark did agree to a hair match after Corelone won their latest match. No date was announced. As noted in the comments, Bucanero replaced Dragon Rojo, which seems a bit suspicious with SD! on Azteca and Dragon Rojo showing up as Diamante Negro last weekend.

Though I guess we’d really know if he just showed up as Diamante Negro here, which he did not. And four out of the six guys in the tercera were changed from what had been originally announced, so something else was obviously going on. Valiente landing face first on the apron on Sunday and working both Tuesday and Friday shows (plus who knows how many more) is quite something. Olimpico and Rey Bucanero being added to this show after being on that poll is interesting.

Yesterday, Panico said CMLL was planning to talk to Shocker about coming back in about two weeks. Not sure that’s happening now. Panico also says CMLL plan on more 75th Anniversary celebration shows.

Noroeste says they know who will be the members of D-Generation-Mex: one indepedent guy, and one who’s been in trios in CMLL. Which doesn’t narrow it down at all! Also in the useless AAA info department, they put up a list of AAA stars signing autographs at various car service places. They tell you who, on which day, but they don’t tell you actually when or where these places are. Good luck!

KrisZ’s news update from yesterday is up.

Funny how this is the fourth straight main event with the guy who LOST his mask. Everyone’s on pause anyway – no hair match this week.
