Previews for tonight’s Arena Mexico show
Esto has an interview with Mistico. His big plan for 2007 is to add more colors to his gear. (Also beat Averno for his title.) He’s also like to win a top rudo mask this year and continue giving 120%. Esto also has a general preview.
La Prensa recaps the Averno/Mistico feud, starting back with the last time they started a year with a singles match.
– In previewing tonight’s Arena Mexico show, Ovaciones mentions that the five fans with the best drawings of Mistico will get a special prize.

Ovaciones also has an article on Mini Mascara Ano 2000, who works a cook in Mexico City during the week.

El Sol de Tulancingo has a few notes from that Crazy Boy show (though no results.)

El Manana de Matamoros has an interview with Kaoma Jr., who claims he was never trained. Make your own joke here.

A thread on El Martiente was asking “Who’s the Chris Benoit of Mexico?”, and I can’t believe Ultimo Guerrero’s second. I think Blue Panther’s great, but their stytles are completely different, especially the current day versions. UG doesn’t have the world experience Benoit and some of the others on the list do (though tapes and blending of the styles have made the world a lot smaller place in the last few years), but he can be the same complete and full throttle wrestler Benoit is, and he’s got the same high respect level where everyone believes he’s the best wrestler in the company, even if he’s not pushed as the top one

Ultimo’s not a perfect fit, but he’s darn close. Guys like Blue Panther (and Negro Navarro and Solar I, at least in the matches they’ve been doing) aren’t found much in the US right now – maybe Brian Danielson is the closest comparison.

The guy who posted “Joe Lider” is funny.

Konnan fouled Humberto to get the win. Mr. Texas was originally scheduled to work the main event, but he would’ve been working at the TNA show around the same time.

Lineup for a CMLL “Duelo de Titanes” show at Arena Monterrey:

CMLL (SUN) 12/16 Arena Monterrey Lineup [lomejordeluchalibre]
3) Averno, Mephisto, Olimpico vs Blue Panther, Felino, Volador
4) Rey Bucanero, Negro Casas, Shocker vs Ultimo Guerrero, Atlantis, Tarzan Boy
5) Hijo de Santo, Mistico, Dr. Wagner Jr. vs Damian 666, Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Hector Garza

Looking at that main event, I’m thinking it’ll double TNA’s attendance.

The University of Communications (Mexico City) has an annual festival, showcasing the best work of it’s students. This year, the theme was lucha libre, and they brought in Starman, Stuka Jr., Heavy Metal, Mephisto, Felino, Shocker, Hanaoka and (not that) Brian Lee for a show. (Wait, that means Shocker’s still working rudo in places.) There’s a video clip of Stuka and Starman’s match (though very little of it.)

El Halcon has a story from El Siglo de Torreon about a lucha school in town.
