02/19 Lucha Libre USA results (season 2, taping 3)

MW (SAT) 02/19/2011 Hard Rock Casino, Albuquerque, New Mexico [PWTorch <- thanks!]
1) Oriental & Tinieblas Jr. DQ Charly Malice & Rocky Romero
the unknown masked men who’d been helping Oriental & Tinieblas on the last taping this time ran in to attack Oriental (who got the win by DQ)
2) Marco Corleone & Shane HelmsHijo del Lizmark & Sydistiko
Helms chokeslammed Sydistiko for the win. Marco challenged Lizmark to a title match.
3) Magno & Súper NovaPetey Williams & RJ Brewer [Ladder]
May not have been an offical match. Brewer and Williams had previously stolen the tecnicos masks, put them in a bag, and intended to burn them. the bag was suspended from the ceiling, so a ladder match broke out. Presumbably Nova & Magno had other masks for this match. Tecnicos got the bag, only to find a red white blue pinata inside.
4) LA ParkOctagoncitoChi ChiUltimo Dragoncito (?)Tigresa CalienteMascarita DoradaPequeño HalloweenMini ParkODBMini Super Raton (?) [rumble]
royal rumble match of minis, exoticos, women, and LA Park. First seven were in befoer any elimiantions. LA Park eliminated Chi Chi to win. Mystery minis were in a light blue Ultimo Dragon outfit (which sounds like the CMLL guy) and mouse ears (maybe Baby Rabbit?)
5) Shane Helms DQ Sydistiko
Sydistiko kicked out of Helms big moves, but fouled him in desperation. Sydistiko trapped Helms in chairs after the match, and jumped off hte top rope onto a chair that was on Helms’ arm. He was going for the same thing on Helms’ head when Marco made the save.
6) Mascarita Dorada & Mr. GriegosPequeño Halloween & Vladamiro
possibly a dark match. Mr. Griegos is a facutly member from University of New Mexico
7) LA ParkPetey Williams
clean win for Park.

In between matches 3/4, Lizmark recieved a free night on the city from the casino. Skit to come, for sure.

Building was 1/3rd full.

Next taping is March 19th.

01/22 Lucha Libre USA taping results

MW (SAT) 01/22/2011 Hard Rock Casino, Albuquerque, New Mexico [Pro Wrestling Torch]
1) John Revell b Medianoche
Revell is a giant muscle dude. Squash. Revell took MediaNoche’s mask. Super Nova tried to make the save, was fought off.
2) Oriental & Tinieblas Jr. b PR Flyer & San Juan Kid
two mystery men in black outfits with
3) Marco Corleone DQ Sydistiko
Rellik & Lizmark ran in for the DQ. Shane Helms debuted making the save.
4) Magno b RJ Brewer [hair]
built up on the last set of tapings. Brewer had Petey Williams and Lizzy Valentine with him, and won the match with a chain punch. Referee noticed the chain and restarted the match. Brewer tried to run out on the stip, but Rocky Romero cut him off and returned him for the haircut.
5) Petey Williams b Charly Malice
Brewer helped give Petey the win.
6) John Revell b Magno
Revell joined the Petey/RJ/Lizzy group (The Right) before the match. Magno was squashed, as were Super Nova & Rocky Romero
7) Oriental & Tinieblas Jr. b PR Flyer & San Juan Kid and Rellik & Sydistiko [MW TAG]
Tournament final, I guess. Mysterious men in black attacked the Puerto Ricians, and Tinieblas took advantage to win the titles
8) Mascarita Dorada, Mini Park, Octagoncito b Pequeño Halloween, Tigresa Caliente, Vladamiro
Tigresa chatted on her phone and didn’t participate. Her partners tagged her in, and Tigresa angrily attacked everyone. Giant woman Isis debut to fight her to the back (epic), and Dorada won the match
9) Shane Helms DQ Lizmark Jr.
Lizmark fouled Helms for the DQ. Marco helped run off Treachery post match.

Nine matches probably means three shows. They now have five episodes to air, and no defined air date. Last timme, they were saying late January. This taping, they were just saying ‘soon’. Not a promising sign, and not a really good night for the the tecnicos. Strange that Super Nova and Rocky Romero both worked multiple shows without getting a match. Recapper notes a lot of delays between matches.

Next taping here was 02/05, but tickets.com lists that show as canceled and now has a 02/19 taping instead.

12/12 Lucha Libre USA Results

MW (SUN) 12/12 Hard Rock Casino, Albuquerque, New Mexico [PWTorch]
1) Rellik & Sydistiko b Oriental & Tinieblas Jr.
2) Mini Park b Rosetta Park [lumberjack]
3) Lizmark Jr. b Marco Corleone, RJ Brewer, Charly Malice [MW HEAVY]
4) Magno & Rocky Romero b Rellik & Sydistiko
5) Mascarita Dorada & Octagoncito b Pequeño Halloween & Tigresa Caliente
6) Petey Williams b Súper Nova
7) Blue Demon Jr. b Tatanka

And they’re back.

1-2-3 were taped for the second season premiere, said here to be some time in January, probably mid-late January since they’re not taping again until 01/22. 4-5-6 were the second week, and Demon/Tatanka was a dark match.

There was a 10 bell salute for Solid before the show.

Sydistiko (whoever that might be at the moment!) used a shooting star press to win the opener.

Rosetta Park is a female version of LA Park, facing a mini version of LA Park, in a match with women and minis around the ring. Maybe this will make sense on TV?

The not-TV shows included singles matches which seemed to be the end of the Lucha Libre USA Heavyweight Tournament, but they walked it back for TV and did a four way final instead. Charlie Malice did not jump from this promotion, but there’s always time. Treachery (Rellik & Sydistiko, w/Lizmark) interfered, a man in a light blue mask countered them, but then turned on Charly with a Canadian Destroyer. Blue Mask unmasked himself as Petey Williams, who’d appeared on the non-TV shows. Brewer was eliminated next, and the rudos threw dust in Marco’s face to set up a Lizmark superkick for the win and the title. That ends the first show.

During the second show, Lizmark had a painter at ringside for a portrait. Marco dumped yellow paint over in the end. Hooray?

Rellik & Sydistiko challenged any team to face it, got beat by a new team. No sign of the tag team tournament on this show.

Pequeno Halloween! He probably could’ve used another partner. No sign of the marriage, hope all is well. A woman ran out and attacked Tigresa, leading to the win.

Petey Williams was introduced as from Glendale, Arizona and a partner of RJ Brewer, and they’re called “The Right”. No mention of RJ’s girlfriend. Rudos yanked Super Nova’s mask after the match. Magno made the save, and challenged Brewer to a mask vs hair match for ‘next week’.

Demon vs Tatanka occurred.

08/28 Masked Warrior show partial results & notes (Charlotte)

I have not seen a live report yet, but judging from the photos on Facebook, the matches appear to have been:

MW (SAT) 08/28 Bojangles Coliseum, Charlotte, NC
1) ?a replacement Tigresa Cailente? & Chi Chi vs Azteko & Mini Park
2) Medianoche, Novillerito, Pequeño Halloween vs Mascarita Dorada, Octagoncito, Petey Williams
3) Súper Nova vs Rellik
4) Lizmark Jr. vs Charly Manson [MW HEAVY, semifinal]
5) PR Flyer, Reid Flair, San Juan Kid b Neutronic, Oriental, Tinieblas Jr.
6) Marco Corleone vs RJ Brewer [MW HEAVY, semifinal]

The 5th match is the only one with a clear picture of who won. I’m presuming those singles matches were actually the tournament matches, since that’s the brackets, but they could not be or they could just be redone during Season 2. It looks likes the Mini Park/Azteko (Rocky Romero, previously listed as Tornado Azteca) team are dancing victorious after a win.

PWInsider says they drew about 1,000 people. The building seats 9,605.

This event has so far gone from being a normal taping to a house to a show being taped for the website. The promotion is told the luchadors that show was on hiatus and not canceled. The show was still taped, with the idea that the show will air on the website. Based on the matches, it seems like they initially planned for two tapings worth of shows, though probably not in the order that they were taped. Tickets are still on sale for the 09/09 taping in Corpus Christi.

Despite their statements, I’d guess this was the last for the show. TV shows which are suddenly pulled of the air usually don’t make it back on the air. Without the TV show, this promotion does not exist. Coming back in 2011 is a great carrot, but seems unlikely This group appeared caught off guard by this week’s show being bumped to Saturday, were caught off guard by the show going on hiatus, and

If they do come back in 2011, they’ve done themselves a disservice by not getting out ahead of the story. If you’re one of the (few) people watching the TV show, all you know is the season is suddenly over, and maybe you know the website they sent you to has nothing about a next season. Those viewers aren’t going to remember this show in four months; they may not remember in two weeks. (This is where Twitter & Facebook helps, because they could start pushing out messages again if they come back, and aren’t reliant on people seeking them out. But they may no longer care at that point.)  If this promotion comes back in 2011 after vanishing for months, they’re starting from scratch.

For those scoring at home, WSX aired 9 episodes, with 1 being a DVD exclusive. Lucha Libre USA: Masked Warriors aired 7 in season 1.

Dr. Lucha had attendance at 2,000

Lizmark & Brewer join Charly Malice & Marco Corleone in moving on to the semifinals. It’s probably Marco/Brewer and Malice/Lizmark, but the way Brewer’s been pushed, they could rearrange to have him in the final.

How did Solid get in the tournament? Way to lose both tournament matches, Mascara Purpura.

Tag team tournament so far is Lizmark/Sydistiko (problematic!), Oriental & Tinieblas, PR Powers, and a fourth TBD.

We jumped the gun on Mentallo! He’s here now. Tornado Azteca seems to be debuting, and the unknown guy in the early trios is described as a big guy in a purple mask. Maybe Saber Claw got a new mask?

Main event was Boricuas vs Mexicanos. Third guy was Oriental.

Lucha Libre USA to run first show on June 6th, air on June 19th

A poster has surfaced advertising Lucha Libre USA, which appears to be the Marco Corleone group. Some googling leads to the promotion’s website, which previously was the website promoting the AAA US tours.

The poster advertises a 06/06 in southern California casino. Tickets are $20 to $50. The website also mentions a show in noted lucha libre hotbed Springfield, Massachusetts on 06/19, where tickets are $30 to $55. (Last we heard, the first show was supposed to be in Las Vegas a week earlier, but there’s no sign of that show anywhere.) These tare expensive prices for a new and unfamiliar promotion, but maybe being on MTV2/3 will get people to take a chance.

A blog entry promoting the Springfield taping says the Lucha Libre USA show will start airing on MTV2 &3 on June 19th. I believe the show is supposed to be a half hour, so maybe they’d tape about 4 weeks of material a taping.

The talent roster is slightly different between the posters for each show and the website, which is not very unusual. Besides Marco, it looks like they had plans of using LA Park in a big role. That won’t work for the first taping (same day as TripleMania); Park is shown on that poster but not listed in the lineup. Mascarita Dorada is also involved, and we’ll have to see how/if that affects his status with CMLL. Other names you may know: Neutron (listed as a rudo; still currently working in GDL, unless it’s a new one), Oriental, Mini Halloween (Dorada’s opponent), Mentallo (masked Canadian wrestler who was training with CMLL for quite a while but only got a couple matches), Hijo de Lizmark (who seems to have remasked), Charly Manson, Octagoncito, Salsero (and Pierroth Jr.), Super Nova, Tinieblas Jr. and Magno. “Mini Dragoncito” is listed, but I believe that’s an indy wrestler and not Ultimo Dragoncito from CMLL.
