04/22: More AAA TV notes, Jeque/Stuka finish, Accion

Rodrigo_Park @ box y lucha has a recap of the 04/20 AAA Xalapa taping. Notes not mentioned in Ovaciones:
– the taping started 3 hours late; it was an outdoor show, so they didn’t want to start till the rain stopped, but that doesn’t help the fans who were stuck out waiting.
– the show suffered due to the wet ring; a Fuerza Aerea member blew a spot badly because of it
– Joe Lider and Crazy Boy ran in the Sect/Barrios match for the usual spots. Joe might have hurt his knee in here
– Cibernetico was nowhere to be found on the show, so after the tag match, you had a scene of Charly and Chessman versus the whole Sect and the whole Vipers. It did not fair well for the Hell Brothers.
– La Parka Jr introduced Tinieblas Jr. as his replacement.

The recap mentions Octagon was walking strange to the ring and, friends of his noted (so this secondhand, thirdhand when you’re reading it here) they smelled alcohol on him. Seeing as the wrestlers must’ve been sitting backstage with nothing to do for three hours, it certaintly seems possible they might have had a beer while killing time. I don’t know if it means he was drunk or what.

CMLL FSE was as noted yesterday, which means
04/13 Mexico: Hiroka, Mima Shimoda, Princesa Sujei b Dark Angel, Luna Magica, Sahori
04/15 Mexico: Stuka Jr. b Jeque [mask]

I have to say, my personal highlight from the the mask match was Arkangel (and Jeque’s family) wearing a Jeque shirt – I can not believe such a thing exists.

Jeque TOTALLY got screwed. Stuka sorta did too, because the match story wasn’t Stuka getting a big win, it was Tigre Hispano screwing up. Jeque missed a top rope move, Stuka covered him, Jeque kicked out at 2, and Tigre Hispano counted three anyway. I had feared it was Jeque doing a little business for himself, but from the move that led to the finish and the amount of time left in the show, it was pretty obviously designed to be a near fall and Hispano screwed it up. FSE showed slow motion replays clearly showing Jeque getting his shoulder up – this was bad. After the three count, everything fell apart; I think Jeque wanted to ignore the three count and keep going, but Hispano didn’t immediately wave off the three count, Jeque quickly realized they were screwed and gave up the goat.

They MIGHT be able to do a return hair match here, but they sure shouldn’t be putting Tiger Hispano in another big match anytime soon.

We got a crying child though. That was great.

Accion:

CMLL: MONKEY VS MONKEY, though they really didn’t explain what was up with that, and Evil Black Monkey got beat up by Bucanero and strechered out too. Lots of focus on Ultimo/Shocker to build up next week’s match, and the finish.

AAA: Mexican Powers vs Guapos. Crazy Boy moonsault off a high object, CHECK. Joe Lider’s new outfit is ugly, but he was good enough to beat up Guapocito and Scorpio Jr. for the win.

According to Bob Barnett on Figure Four Daily, part of Vampiro’s return to CMLL is to set up a deal between the promotion and a Canadian PPV company. That would be cool, if it happens.

04/20: Jeque, Shocker, Mexico preview

ESTO has a couple of interviews today. They talk to Jequetalk to Shocker. It’s a career bio, but they briefly touch on WWE (without mentioning it by name.) Shocker says he’s not going back to the US, because they don’t respect his experience and level. Shocker figures he’s got 10-15 years left in him, as long as he stays in shape.

The producer of the soap opera Mistico will be on starting in July plans to unmask Mistico. Figuratively – we’re going to see the real man behind the mask who started out living on the streets (so ‘real’ is slightly not real.)

Arena Mexico previews
– Ovaciones
ESTO
Notimex

The main event is High Society vs Guerreros, but one again, the real main event is the semimain – Mistico and amigos vs the Trio of Terror.

CMLL (FRI) 04/20 Arena Mexico
1) Danger & Moltov vs Caligula & Messala
2) Leono, Valiente, Virus vs Euforia, Nosfearatu, Satanico
3) Alex Koslov, Blue Panther, Ultimo Dragon vs Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca, Tarzan Boy
4) Mistico, Negro Casas, Sagrado vs Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto
5) Marco Corleone, Rey Bucanero, Shocker vs Atlantis, Olimpico, Ultimo Guerrero

I think Satanico’s a rudo just for one night, but we’ll see.

Tonight’s also an AAA TV taping – they tape this Friday and next Friday, so no Dr. Morales for AAA for a bit. I presume they’ll start mentioning the May tapings on AAA TV this weekend.

IWRG’s site is still down. So is El Halcon.

04/16: Coliseo, Guadalajara, Monterrey

Jeque unmasked
via Ovaciones

CMLL (SUN) 04/15 Arena Coliseo [ovaciones, alvin @ el martiente]
1) Arkangel de la Muerte, Dr. X, Mr. México b Tigre Blanco, Tigre Metálico, Tony Rivera
2) Ephesto, Mephisto, Misterioso II b La Máscara, Leono, Mictlán
3) Damián 666, Halloween, Mr. Águila b Máximo, Sagrado, Texano Jr.
4) Stuka Jr. b Jeque [mask]
5) Lizmark Jr., Místico, Rey Bucanero DQ Atlantis, Black Warrior, Último Guerrero

Jeque is Marrio Moreno Garcia, from Mexico City, and he’s been wrestling for 25 years. Third fall finish was a bit odd; Stuka got the pin, but Jeque popped back up, continued fighting, got his valagueza, and covered – and the ref counted three, before awarding the match to Stuka. Jeque complained after the match that Stuka’s pinfall was only a two count, and declared his mask loss to be a robbery, but unmasked because he’s a professional. It’ll be interesting to see how that comes off on TV. This match didn’t do anything for attendence, but then I’d be shocked if it did.

Warrior fouled Mistico in the main event. The Lizmark Jr. seems to be off, again. I will now communicate my anger about this in exclamation points: !!!!!!!!! !!!!!! !!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!! !

Not only did the Perros beat the Mexican Trios champs, but Damian tried to out Maximo Maximo himself! Harsh.

CMLL (SUN) 04/15 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [El Occidental]
1) Estrella de Jalisco & Neon ?? Fraile de la Muerte & Imposter
2) Guero Loco & Valentin Mayo b Azazel & Carlo Roggi
3) Mr. Trueno & Rey Trueno b Metal Blanco & Metatron
4) Nitro & Sangre Azteca b Gallo & Metro II
5) Dr. Wagner Jr., Rayman, Shocker b Mascara 2000, Toxico, Universo 2000

Toxico replaced Cien Caras Jr., and Rayman replaced Rayo de Jalisco (hmmm).

CMLL (SAT) 04/14 Palenque de Gallos de la Feria Chipas [El Heraldo de Chipas]
1) Murcy Jr. b ?
2) Americano, Bugambilia, Guerrerito Zulu b Angel Maligno, Psicopata, Sangre de Aguila
3) Capitan Furia, El Mexicano, El Terrorista b Dragon Negro, Guerrero Zulu, Halcon Samurai
4) Tzuki & Ultimo Dragoncito b Pequeno Violencia & Pierrothito
5) Mistico & Volador Jr. b Black Warrior & Ultimo Guerrero

AAA (SUN) 04/15 Arena Coliseo Monterrey [RFC]
1) Panterita del Ring II & Rey Imagen DRAW Apolo Negro & Euforia (Monterrey)
2) Ares, Karis la Momia, Orus, The Mummy b Ben Hur, Escorpio Negro, Guerrero Negro Jr., Rey Infernal
3) el Angel & Martha Villalobos b el Brazo & Tiffany
4) Alan, Billy Boy, Decnnis b Angel Mortal, Gallego, Mr. Condor
5) Elegido, Intocable, Mascara Divina b Aventurero, Espiritu, Hator

ESTO‘s recap of Friday’s Arena Mexico show says the women’s match was boring. In Notimex‘s article, Perro Jr. declares that any time he loses via a foul, it’s a win for him, and Mistico wishes he was a rudo. They also talk to the winners, where Negro explains it’s his years of experience which allows Mistico and himself to work as great partners despite never actually teaming with each other.

El Manana’s Martiente column is about – uh, I’m not sure. He’s not happy with promoters for some reason; I can’t figure it out.

04/09: Demon/Solitario, Coliseo

LUCHAS 2000 #363 teases Blue Demon Jr. vs Hijo del Solitario in a mask match on 05/05. I wonder what match will actually happen, if there’s an actual match here.

CMLL (SUN) 04/08 Arena Coliseo [ova]
1) Carrona & Vaquero b Espiritu Maligno & Karisma
2) Sombra de Plata, Super Nova, Valiente b Artillero, Pólvora, Súper Comando
3) Leono, Stuka Jr., Virus b Dr. X, Jeque, Loco Max
4) Damián 666, Halloween, Mr. Águila b Máximo, Satánico, Tigre Metálico
5) el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Héctor Garza, Terrible b Alex Koslov, Marco Corelone, Shocker

Terrible used the ropes to pin Marco in the main event. Metalico replaced Metal (fair enough), and Sombra de Plata filled in for Flash. Jeque might have gotten DQed for ripping Stuka’s match to set up the mask match.

indy (THU) 04/12 Arena Olimpico Laguna de Gomez Palacio [siglo de torreon]
1) Flashman & Scriba Jr. vs Fuego & Mini Star
2) Centella Azul Jr., Dorado Jr., Sexy Libra vs Dulce Paola, Scriba, Semental
3) Hijo del Angel Azteca & Piloto Suicida vs Mr. Guerrero & Muerte Siniestra
4) Hijo del Soberano vs Piloto Negro [mask, hair]

Negro won the JWA title from Soberano last week, so they’re doing a stips match this week.

The Martinete column in El Manana write that Mistico and Santo cost way too much (25000 pesos; $2,275 US), so promoters should use other stars instead. The column also rips Pierroth and Lizmark Sr. (need to retire) and Lizmark Jr. & Tarzan Boy (don’t do any thing in the ring.)

04/08: Jeque/Stuka, Accion, FSE

CMLL.com has announced Jeque vs Stuka Jr. (for masks) is signed for 04/15.

Accion:

CMLL – Marco/Sagrado/Mistico vs Demon/Aguila/Perro: So the story here is Mistico got La Mistica on Perro in an early fall to win it, and since he never gets it twice, that was a sign. Perro ended up beating him clean in the third fall – that’s where you get the “Perro is the new King”, because he actually beat Mistico clean, but I think it’s just set up of the tag title reign.

Corelone looked as bad as he’s looked in CMLL in the highlights.

AAA: Scorpio, Zumbido, Alan Stone, Hator vs Alebrije, Zorro, Oriental, Intocable from Hidalgo – this is the debut of Guapocito. Here, he’s a mini with dyed blond hair wearing a suit. He fouls Cuije, Alebrije is distracted, Scorpio fouls him. Scorpio goes on to slam Guapocito onto Alebrije to set up the pin.

CMLL on FSE has
04/01 Coliseo: Leono, Stuka Jr., Virus vs Dr. X, Jeque, Loco Max
04/01 Coliseo: Heavy Metal, Máscara Sagrada, Shocker vs Máscara Año 2000, Misterioso II, Olímpico
en case de Black Warrior

I don’t have much to say, so…here’s the minis match.

If you’re doing a ballot, you’ve got to get in – now.

04/07: Mexico, Lineups, GdR

CMLL (FRI) 04/06 Arena Mexico [ova, esto]
1) Super Nova & Tony Rivera b Apocalipsis & Ramstein
2) Hirooki Goto, Ohara, Shigeo Okumura b Felino, Máximo, Valiente
3) Alex Koslov, Dr. Wagner Jr., Rayo de Jalisco Jr. b Atlantis, Sangre Azteca, Tarzan Boy
4) Blue Demon Jr., el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Mr. Águila b Marco Corelone, Místico, Sagrado
5) Último Guerrero b Héctor Garza

ESTO claims this show had a larger attendance and was of better quality than than last week’s PPV. However, they also mention that a noticeable amount of fans left after the semimain. ESTO’s theory is the show was so good to that point, fans were satisfied and didn’t need another match. I think the show is over for a lot of folks once Mistico wrestles. Ovaciones doesn’t mention any of this.

Rudos won the semimain, with Perro challenging for a tag team title shot (!) versus Mistico and Negro next week, which is signed. Perro must’ve attacked Mistico some more, because Ultimo came out early to attack Perro, and we’re supposed to wonder if maybe Mistico and Ultimo are secretly allied now. In the main event, Ultimo pinned Hector using the ropes, though I’ve seen some mention Hector was strechered out.

Flash was supposed to work the opener as his return from injury, but was replaced by Tony. Perhaps he’s not all the way back yet?

Lineups…

CMLL (TUE) 04/10 Arena Coliseo Lineup
1) Electrico, Celestial vs Pierrothito, Mini Violencia
2) Valiente, Super Nova, Trueno vs Hooligan, Apocalipsis, Ramstein
3) Tony Rivera, Satanico, Metro vs Arkangel, Euforia, Nosferatu
4) Maximo, Virus, Texano Jr. vs Eclipse, Ephesto, Okumura
5) Rey Bucanero, Heavy Metal, Alex Koslov vs Atlantis, Olimpico, Sangre Azteca

It seems like they’re giving Euforia and Nosferatu time to get used to their new gimmicks before putting them on TV, which is good.

CMLL (FRI) 04/13 Arena Mexico Lineup
1) Tsuki, Shockercito vs Fire, Mini Mr. Aguila
2) Dark Angel, Sahori, Luna Magica vs Hiroka, Princesa Sujei, Mima Shimoda
3) Rayo de Jalisco Jr., Dos Caras Jr., Lizmark Jr. vs Universo 2000, Tarzan Boy, Sangre Azteca
4) Marco Corelone, Shocker, Rey Bucanero vs Atlantis, Ultimo Guerrero, Olimpico
5) Mistico, Negro Casas vs Perro Aguayo Jr., Mr. Aguila [CMLL TAG]

That third match is so full of hate. I could swear CMLL themselves told me Lizmark turned rudo, and he’s a tecnico yet again. Worse still is the resumption of Rayo/Universo.

I’m thinking no title change.

CMLL (SUN) 04/15 Arena Coliseo Lineup
1) Tigre Blanco, Tiger Metalico, Tony Rivera vs Mr. Mexico, Arkangel, Dr. X
2) La Mascara, Leono, Mictlan vs Mephisto, Ephesto, Misterioso II
3) Sagrado, Maximo, Texano Jr. vs Damian 666, Halloween, Mr. Aguila
4) Mistico, Rey Bucanero, Lizmark Jr. vs Atlantis, Black Warrior, Ultimo Guerrero

Four matches announced, no Jeque/Stuka – looks like the mask match is going down here. Note the (for the moment) tercera has the Mexico Trios champs teaming up for the first time in a while, against a logical team to challenge them.

airing on CAN52 Guerreros del Ring
04/01 Coliseo: Mini Damian 666, Mini Halloween, Mini Mr. Aguila b Mini Olímpico, Tzuki, Último Dragoncito
04/01 Coliseo: Atlantis, LA Park, Último Guerrero b Damián 666, el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Halloween
en casa de Black Warrior

YAY MINIS.
