The CMLL press event had the expected amount of news. CMLL Gaceta has the only wrap up I’ve seen, though a lot was mentioned back on Twitter
Infierno en el Ring was officially announced for 07/19. That’s a week later than earlier speculation. The ten men in the cage match are the ten men you’d expect: Shocker, Rush, Máximo, Blue Panther, Super Porky, Negro Casas, Averno, Mr. Águila, Rey Escorpión, Rey Bucanero. Averno and Blue Panther were the last to sign (among the people who actually showed up, no Brazo de Plata), both challenging each to another apuesta match should they survive this one. That match would be a one fall submission match with no ropes no ropes break, and is unlikely to actually happen no matter what goes on here. Mr.
A 35th Blue Panther Anniversary show will be held on 08/16. The main event is Blue Panther, Atlantis and Negro Casas vs Solar, Negro Navarro and Black Terry. That should be outstanding.
Marco Corleone announced his knee injury was not as severe as previously reported, and he’ll be back in August. That’s way ahead of the initial schedule. He also said that any enemy of Rush is an enemy of himself and Maximo.
More En Busca de un Idolo shuffling. Shocker and Rush argued about who was running the tecnico team. Mr. Niebla takes over for Terrible with the rudos (just Vangelis.) Like last year, all the participants will come back for a cibernetico after the tournament, on 07/26. There was no mention of any prize for the winner.
Taichi starts on 07/26, and the CMLL travels to Japan (REINA, NJPW) were mentioned.
Ray Mendoza Jr. also held a press conference for his show on the 20th. Not much news on that one. There’s CMLL luchadors all over the lineup, but they none appeared at the press conference. Hijo de Pirata Morgan challenged V5 to a hair vs hair match, and V5 said no.
In his weekly Record column, El Hijo del Santo explains he was hurt so much by LA Park’s martinete, he had surgery – to his intestines, because of the pressure the move put on his abdominal region. Riiiiight. This sounds like Santo previously had surgery scheduled and decided to weave into this match. He’ll be out for 45 days.
AAA sent out an interview with Nino Hamburguesa talking about Sunday’s match in Ecatepec as his TV debut match. It’s not his TV debut match; he wrestled in the opener of the March 3rd San Luis Potosi Sin Limite taping, which eventually aired on Fusion. This Sunday’s match in Ecatepec is also an opener and may also end up on Fusion or not aired at all.
NJPW’s Kizuna Road iPPV is tomorrow morning. It’s starting at 4:30 am Central Time, with the CMLL Tag Team Title match taking place around 6am. I think I’m watching this live.
This week’s Tercera Caida was filmed before a live audience in Arena Queretaro, with the American Wolves and promotes Carlos Maynes. DTU’s 4 show weekend tour starts tonight in that building and will eventually air on TVC Deportes.

1) Caballo Dorado, La Coronela, Solovino b Black Hanibbal, Destructor, Mini Hator
2) Atomo, Crazy Demon, Demonio del Caribe b Dark War, Norteño, Norteño Jr. Demon used the ropes to win.
3) Ciber Payaso & Mortifero b Ángel o Demonio & Obett and Chamaco Gurrola & Galactar Less extreme than you’d expect (maybe because of Santo?) Payaso used the ropes to get the pin.
4) Diluvio Negro II, Orquídea Negra, Silver Star b Koko Viper, Mongol Chino, Sergio Romo Jr. Romo fouled Silver, Diluvio fouled Mongol, ref counted that second pin.
5) Trauma I & Trauma II b Cerebro Negro & Dr. Cerebro Best match of the night. Trauma II beat Cerebro Negro with a Canadian Destroyer.
6) LA Park b El Hijo Del Santo, Dr. Wagner Jr. Complete brawl, into the crowd and mark ripping. LA Park complained about Santo getting involved in a match with Wagner & Park before the match and warned him he’d pay if didn’t back out. Santo didn’t back out, and LA Park gave him a martinete. Wagner got the pin somehow. Santo was strechered and taken to the hospital. Park powerbombed Wagner thru a table after 10 more minutes for the win. Wagner was also strechered out, though not before LA Park mimed burying him.
FLM (SUN) 06/30/2013 Auditorio Siglo XXI, Yucatan, Merida [Estrellas del Ring, R de Rudo]

6) Máscara Dorada, Titán, Valiente b Averno, Pierroth, Volador Jr. Tecnicos took 1/3. Titan beat Averno again, and Averno finally conceded to a title match.

4) Shocker DQ Mr. Águila Aguila won the first with a moonsault, Shocker pinned him in the second, and Aguila tried to sneak in a foul on Shocker but was caught for the DQ.
5) La Máscara, La Sombra, Rush b Euforia, Gran Guerrero, Último Guerrero Tecnicos took 2/3.
Princesa Blanca took Goya Kong’s mask, but is now stuck feuding with her for the rest of time. A genuine monkey’s paw situation.
CMLL has a press event Thursday at noon. It’s the usual bit of not announcing it publicly ahead of time, but bits and pieces leaked out.
The Infierno en el Ring cage match should be announced. We know the participants (the 10 guys in the cibernetico on Friday), and the only thing left is to say if it’ll be on 07/12 or 07/19.
Another major show will take place on Friday August 16, likely involving the same group of independent luchadors seen on the Arena Coliseo Anniversary show.
Marco Corleone teased a positive injury update which will be announced Thursday.
Titan vs Averno will definitely be spotlighted. Guerrero Maya plans on challenging for the Arena Coliseo tag team titles next Sunday, so maybe that’ll be officialized here. That show will probably also be an Arena Mexico one.
There should be updates on the En Busca de un Idolo tournament and CMLL’s recent adventures in Japan. It’s possible CMLL may mention their participation in the G1 tournament, since NJPW will be releasing the full list of participants in about 15 hours later.
There’s probably a bit more than that. It sure looks like there’s also a cage match coming in Puebla (on 07/14 or 07/21) and that’s something that should be stated here. Something spotlighting the Estetas makes sense. Ideally, they’d go as far as announce the Anniversary show date as well.
DTU (SUN) 07/07/2013 Autolavado VM, Tulancingo

6) Davey Richards & Eddie Edwards vs Crazy Boy & Joe Lider and Hacker & Kaleth
One more DTU show, also supposed to be taped by TVC Deportes. Autolavado = car wash parking lot, but this setting looked great when they showed clips from the most recent DTU show here.
IWRG (SUN) 07/07/2013Arena Naucalpan
1) Freelance & Galaxie vs Araña de Plata & Fulgor
2) Dinamic Black, Dr. Cerebro, Freeyser vs Apolo Estrada Jr., Oficial 911, Tomahawk

4) Trauma I, Trauma II, Veneno vs Fuerza Guerrera, Máscara Año 2000 Jr., X-Fly
5) Negro Navarro vs Solar I [FMLL MASTER] Negro is listed as champion
I’ve seen that match! It’s a good match.
indy (SUN) 07/07/2013Arena Coliseo San Luis Potosi

2) Dragon Fury, Magnifico (slp), Rey Deimante vs Gemelo I, Gemelo II, Judoka

4) Divino, Faraon De La Meurte, Oro Azul vs Black Extreme, Drack Conde, Extrem Fly
5) Bogar vs Virus [CMLL SL] Virus is champion. Fourth known defense.
For real. Could Bogar become the Super Lightweight champion of the world? He’s got more of a chance than you do (unless you’re Virus.) First known defense of this belt since last October.
CMLL (MON) 07/08/2013Arena Puebla
1) Asturiano & Fresbee vs Blue Center & Espanto Jr.
2) Leono, Pegasso, Robin, Stigma, Tigre Rojo Jr. vs Disturbio, Espíritu Maligno, Inquisidor, Siki Ozama Jr., Skándalo not listed as a cibernetico, but ten man tags usually are in CMLL.
3) Bushiroad, Diamante, Tritón vs Cancerbero, Raziel, Virus
4) La Máscara, Stuka Jr., Titán vs Dragón Rojo Jr., Pólvora, Rey Escorpión
5) Atlantis, Diamante Azul, Shocker vs Mr. Niebla, Pierroth, Último Guerrero
They teased Skandalo & Espiritu Mailgno vs Stigma this past Monday, so probably more of that here (and no new main event program until that’s resolved.)
CMLL (TUE) 07/09/2013Arena Mexico
1) Molotov & Sensei vs Apocalipsis & Inquisidor
2) Dalis la Caribeña, Estrellita, Luna Mágica vs La Vaquerita, Tiffany, Zeuxis
3) Máscara Dorada, Rey Cometa, Stuka Jr. vs Namajague, Rey Bucanero, Tiger
4) Averno vs Titán [MEX WELTER] Averno is champion. First defense.
5) Atlantis, Máximo, Thunder vs Mr. Niebla, Niebla Roja, Pierroth
If you go with the theory that Titan, La Mascara and Rush won the trios titles more by happening to be around the week CMLL decided they needed to do a trios change, then maybe it has little effect on the outcome here. Or maybe Averno just wins to keep the titles spread out. Should be really good either way, and the tercera does not look bad either. Namajague’s worked as a Terrible replacement before.
CMLL (TUE) 07/09/2013Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Metatrón & Virgo vs Mr. Trueno & Rey Trueno
2) Leo, Starman, Stigma vs Arkángel de la Muerte, Ráfaga, Skándalo

5) Mistico, Shocker, Valiente vs Felino, Mephisto, Volador Jr.
A show!
IWL (TUE) 07/30/2013Arena Aficion
1) Lolita, Medics III, Payaso Terror, Peligro vs Pasion Kristal, Pentagón Jr., Perico, Sexy Lady
2) Arkanos, Kid Jaguar, Shadow vs Centinela, Medics 1, Quimico Jr.
3) Argenis, Drago (AAA), Fenix (AAA) vs Freelance, Pantera I, Suicida
4) Infierno Kid, Ojo Diabólico Jr., Último Vampiro vs Aeroboy, Cíclope, Drastik Boy
5) Carta Brava Jr. I, Cerebro Negro, Fantasma de la Ópera vs Loco Max, Tony Rivera, Zumbido and Black Terry, Dinamic Black, Dr. Cerebro
6) Monster Clown, Murder Clown, Psycho Clown vs Ángel o Demonio, León Rojo, Obett [IWL TRIOS]
Only 41 luchadors on this show, anorexic by IWL standards. IWL appears to only have one main event. Tercera could be good if given time (and everyone shows up, which is not always the case with the ex-IWRG trio.)
Puroresu Spirit, citing Japanese news reports, says El Nieto del Santo will starting training in the NOAH dojo in May for a debut in Mexico 3 months later. This is Hijo del Santo’s son, who he’s some times referred to as “Santo Jr.” to avoid confusion with Axxel. Hijo del Santo turns 50 on August 2nd. A show that weekend would be the most logical moment for a Nieto del Santo debut. The article mentions Nieto del Santo will be available to wrestle in Japan for NOAH after, but no sense of when or for how long.
Dragon Lee no longer has the toughest job for a luchador. The pressure of being the newest El Santo is a 100x the newest Mistico. El Nieto del Santo is taking on the name of a cultural legend, there’s no comparison. It’s an immensely tough way to start – both Santo and El Hijo del Santo (Korak) wrestled under other names before becoming something. There’s been no sign of Nieto del Santo wrestling prior; it seemed like he was at least a year away from a debut last time it was brought up, making this announcement even more of a surprise and preparation for it more unlikely. It surprises me there was no attempt at sneaking him under another name to IWRG undercards for months to get his feet wet before the announcement. It may have slightly dulled the official debut, but it’d put him in a better chance to succeed to start. Even a poor working Nieto del Santo will be important in lucha libre because of the history of the name, but the money is in one who can work like a star, not someone who’s exposed as not being ready. Unless something’s been kept top secret, Nieto del Santo will have his first match with the brightest spotlight on him.
The plan for him to train in NOAH makes a lot of sense given the circumstances. Nieto needs to get repetitions away from Mexican eyes, and training/working internationally gives him bonus credibility to those who care about those things. Going back to Japan and wrestling infrequently in Mexico at first would be for the best. The Santo name has value in Japan too, and everything needs to be done to keep the new guy special. Santo’s TxT relationships also benefit him – between Solar, Negro Navarro and Black Terry, there’s plenty of people to help train Nieto in Mexico as well, and there’s plenty of guys with slight names who will surely be happy to team with the Heir To The Legend or wager masks with him. Promotional effort will not be a problem here.
I believe this ends the rumors of el Hijo del Santo coming to CMLL in the short term. The goal has to be to make Nieto del Santo the biggest star possible, Nieto del Santo can be treated like more of a star outside of CMLL than within it (CMLL will be prioritizing their own guys, to the extent anyone there looks like a star at all) and Hijo del Santo is not separating from his son. The math changes if Nieto del Santo establishes himself outside of CMLL – maybe some a Hijo del Santo retirement tour combined with Nieto del Santo Arena Mexico debut down the line, or maybe a rehabilitation restart if Nieto doesn’t succeed – but it doesn’t make sense until after Nieto is no longer seen as a novato.
CMLL (SUN) 05/01/2011 Arena Coliseo [Cesar, CMLL]
1) Bronco & Disturbio b Camaleón & Freesbe Rudos took falls 1 and 3.
2) Guerrero Maya Jr., Hombre Bala Jr., Stuka Jr. b Rayo Tapatío I, Rayo Tapatío II, Virus Tecnicos took the last two falls.
3) Rey Escorpion b Palacio Negro [Forjando un Idolo] Palacio [3] did every crazy move he could think of – and ate a dropkick for the loss. Escorpion [6] finally wins clean, advances in second place.
4) Ángel de Oro b Rey Cometa [Forjando un Idolo] Angel de Oro finishes with 3 wins [9] and Rey Cometa [0] winless. The first place finishers – Oro, Delta, Diamante, Polvora – all end with perfect records. Cometa, Puma King and Angel de Plata all finished with zero points.
5) El Alebrije, Misterioso Jr., Olímpico b Diamante, Metro, Rush Rudos took the last two falls, then made the expected title challenge for next week. Misterioso challenges Rush for a mask vs hair match. Keep dreaming.
6) Atlantis, Último Guerrero, Volador Jr. b Black Warrior, Blue Panther, La Sombra Rudos took one and three, Atlantis & Volador beating Sombra & Panther.
Saturday’s Arena Lopez Mateos show, to help Rey Escorpion pay for an operation for his child saw Rey Escorpion, Ultimo Guerrero, and Atlantis beat Villano IV, Villano V and Scorpio Jr. Straight fall win for the Guerreros, Rey Escorpion wiping out Scorpio Jr. with a dive while his parnters took care of the Guerreros. Amo La Lucha Libre has video of this match. Black Terry Jr. has video of Navarro & Traumas vs Solar, Chucho el Roto, and Iron Love: fall 1, fall 2, fall 3.
CMLL in NJPW 05/01: Davey Richards (O), Rocky Romero, Mascara Dorada b Prince Devitt, Ryusuke Taguchi (X), Jushin Liger
Next show is the 05/03 title match.
SuperLuchas #411 has a spiffy new look. Inside is an interview with Hijo del Santo (in full Hijo del Santo, telling us he could’ve beaten Fishman or Villano III for their masks but he had too much respect for them to challenge them, fishing for someone to pay for a Hijo del Solitario mask match, explaining Super Astros set the stage for Sin Cara & Alberto del Rio)
Blue Demon Jr. posted a photo of himself unmasked! (when he was a kid.)
Lineup
IWRG (THU) 05/05/2011 Arena Naucalpan
1) Centurión & Rolling Boy vs Carta Brava Jr. & El Imposible
2) Eterno & Hijo del Pantera vs Alan Extreme & El Pollo Asesino
3) Multifacético, Negro Navarro, Trauma II vs Comando Negro, Fresero Jr., Pirata Morgan
4) Ray Mendoza Jr., Trauma I, Villano IV vs Hijo de Pirata Morgan, Silver King, Último Gladiador
Sort of rematch from last week in the main event.
IWRG (SUN) 05/08/2011 Arena Naucalpan
1) Dragon Fly vs Muerte Infernal
2) Miss Gaviota & Turbo vs ? & Alan Extreme
3) Dinamic Black, Eterno, Golden Magic vs Carta Brava Jr., Comando Negro, Imposible
4) Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr., Hijo del Pantera, Pantera vs Oficial 911, Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro
5) El Mesías, Multifacético, Trauma I vs Barba Roja, Bombero Infernal, Pirata Morgan
Odds of that ? being Black Thunder: 99 to 99.999%
SuperLuchas says the next trainee show is 05/14. Scheduled to be a rematch with the Villano GYM, but they did run an angle with Gym Ham Lee last time.
CMLL (SUN) 05/08/2011 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Drago vs Ráfaga, Malefico, Mr. Trueno [OCCIDENTE LH, #1]
2) Eléctrico, Shockercito, Último Dragoncito vs Demus 3:16, Pequeño Violencia, Pierrothito
3) Rey Cometa, Sagrado, Sangre Azteca vs Euforia, Pólvora, Vangelis
4) La Sombra, Máscara Dorada, Toscano vs Atlantis, Dragón Rojo Jr., Último Guerrero
That’s a match to challenge for Gallo’s title. Though I wonder what they’re going to do with Metal Blanco’s title if he’s not going to be around here (and probably isn’t losing to one who’s sticking around.) ACG Drago is not the AAA Drago.
CMLL (SAT) 05/21/2011 Arena Lopez Mateos
1) Astral & Eléctrico vs Pequeño Warrior & Pierrothito
2) Puma King, Rayo Tapatío II, Tiger Kid vs Hijo del Signo, Mortiz, Semental
3) Ángel de Oro, Delta, Diamante vs Fuego, Metal Blanco, Palacio Negro
4) Metro, Sangre Azteca, Stuka Jr. vs Misterioso II, Pólvora, Vangelis
5) Rush, Sagrado, Toscano vs Rey Bucanero, Shigeo Okumura, Yoshihashi
6) Black Warrior, La Sombra, Super Porky vs Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto
7) Felino, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas vs Dragón Rojo Jr., Héctor Garza, Último Guerrero
This is (also?) a Rey Escorpion benefit show, though he doesn’t wrestle on this one. Really stacked lineup, should be a fun card.
CMLL (WED) 01/06 Arena Coliseo [Ovaciones (PDF), ESTO, Fuego en el Ring]
1) Bengala & Principe b Disturbio & Ramstein
2) Molotov, Sensei, Trueno b Apocalipsis, Artillero, Súper Comando
3) Ángel de Plata, Delta, Fuego DQ Dr. X, Nitro, Pólvora
4) Máscara Dorada, Metro, Stuka Jr. b Dragon Rojo Jr., Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca [MEX TRIOS]
5) Brazo de Plata, La Máscara, Místico b Atlantis, Rey Bucanero, Último Guerrero
Dorada, Metro and Stuka become the 29th champions. This is the first title Metro’s won, and the biggest Stuka has won (no offense to the Arena Coliseo Tag Team titles.) Tecnicos had combo masks for the match. A quartet with Fuego would be a pretty fun group.
Otherwise, everything here (and in Guadalajara) was what you’d expect for Kid’s Days shows. No word on what the DQ was for in the tercera; only Ovaciones even mentions it.
CMLL (WED) 01/06 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [Fuego en el Ring]
1) Relampago Azul b In Memoria
2) Angelo & Idolo b Acertijo & Infierno
3) Mr. Trueno & Rey Trueno b Ángel del Mal & Ráfaga
4) Hijo del Fantasma, Rouge, Valiente b Exterminador, Nosferatu, Shigeo Okumura
5) Máximo & Strong Man b Euforia & Negro Casas
No Mr. Niebla, so Euforia moved up and Exterminador took his place.
Meanwhile, a website hyping the video game says it’ll now be out in June. Quietly, and somewhat unsuccessfully, they’ve changed the name from Heroes del Ring 2010 to Heroes del Ring 2011 on their website.
Casandro tells SuperLuchas that he’s headed back to Europe (Belgium specifically) next month with Hijo del Santo.
The Gladiatores has a video interview with a soft spoken El Hijo del Signo.
AAA wants it clear that it’s only canceling spot shows thru May 6. The May 18th date is their next TV taping, but other shows from the 7th to 18th are still on at the moment.
(Reforma via SuperLucha) Hijo del Santo is threatening a lawsuit against Deportes Martinez for selling Santo gear without permission (or paying Santo.) Most masks and other merchandise sold in Mexico appears to be unauthorized, but it’s a situation that’s been the norm for decades. It’s not a surprise Santo is fighting this, because he’s been so protective of his image and brand, but the twist here is Santo is inviting in CMLL, AAA and independent wrestlers to join in the lawsuit. If Santo was successful here, it’d could be a big change in the status quo, changing the way both stores like Deportes Martinez and the mask vendors outside of buildings do business. So much so that I kind of wonder why Deportes Martinez didn’t try to get this quietly settled (Santo asked for too much? That seems like Santo’s move.)
Ovaciones also has a interview with Toscano about his rehab (he’s about six weeks out), and a generic profile of Dr. Wagner Jr. (old enough that it doesn’t mention anything about AAA.)
Jornada talks to Chritian Cymet and Orlando Jimenez, the writers of the Viva La Lucha magazine series, which was supposed to start Monday but who knows this week. Here, it’s said each edition will come out every second week, so this is going to be a long run. Cymet apparently has a crazy huge Santo collection.
Informador interviews Satanico, who says he saw Dr. No about 30 times before he used the name. He also tells the story about sneaking into to debut without his trainer’s permission, being awful, and being forced to train two more years. Satanico is proud of facing El Dandny in five hair matches in Arena Mexico, and that record is not getting broken any time soon.
SuperLucha says Dark Phoenix is one name under consideration for Dark Angel in TNA, and confirms that she’ll continue in CMLL. HOORAY!
The San Fran Decider writes about Lucha Va Voom’s show there. It must be fantastic to be Tom Kenny right now; you’re Spongebob, and occasionally you get to be a wacky lucha announcer.
