2000 people in a 11000 person arena, according to the report.

Let me explain the Teleton matches bit in once place, so it’s easier for me to recall later:

Around 1pm on Saturday, CMLL and AAA both had matches.
– Dos Caras Jr., Shocker, Heavy Metal b Atlantis, Ultimo Guerrero, Olimpico
– Abismo Negro, Chessman, Charly Manson b La Parka Jr., Intocable, Head Hunter I (who had to be filling in for someone)

After the matches, they proposed the two winning teams would face off – but only if the people watching at home would donate 4,000,000 pesos ($367633 US) in the next half hour. They went over four million, so the match was on: Dos, Shocker and Metal vs Abismo, Chessman, Charly. (It’s been noted that all the CMLL guys had once been in AAA.) Shocker and Abismo were captains.

In the one fall match, Heavy Metal pinned Charly Manson with a ‘rana, but then Chessman beat Heavy Metal. The next pinfall would be the deciding one, and Dos took himself and Chessman out of the picture with a dive. Abismo and Shocker got into a tapatia, leaned back, and both sets of shoulders were down for the three count. It was a double pin draw, though both sides complained and vowed revenge.

Sports newspaper Esto has announced it’ll start covering lucha libre. YAY INFORMATION. As a person not living in the US, it’s pretty mindboggling that a newspaper would decide to start to cover wrestling. I’m not complaining.

There’s wire articles about the teleton match in many places – Vanguarida and mundo hispano are two

Latin Lover has had some falling out with the producers of the Solo para Mujers shows and won’t be appearing with them any more. However, he’ll still be doing his other show and just signed a seven year exclusive contract with Televisa, so he’ll probably be doing okay. They’re going to start filming on a lucha movie early next year. (tabascao hoy)

A blog entry on Milenio talks about piracy in lucha libre, mostly with Rayo de Jalisco Jr. If I’m not mistaken, Rayo claims Rayman – the wrestler who El Hijo de Rayo de Jalisco Jr. till the name had to be changed – was someone who is not family and was pirating the name. That can’t be right – there’s gotta be confusion somewhere here.

Luchas 2000 Special #16 says goodbye to Lizmark.

Internet Magazines
El Halcon #81 has interviews with Rey Bucanero, Hijo del Diablo, as well as results from Queretaro, Gimnasio Nuevo Leon, and the CMLL Vip show
the Gladiatores #21 has results form Naucalpan, Tijuana, Neza and another Villalobos show.

11/27: AAA, Halcon, Cage of Death

AAA’s updated it’s notes section.
– The Intocable, Scorpio Jr., Alan Stone, Brazo de Plata match will only have on hair on the line (so Scorpio’s losing.)
– They bring up points again in the tag team tournament, but talk of it as it being an elimination tournament and only the winning teams moving on. There’s no point to the points. The first half of the second round matches are on 11/30, and the next will be at Guerrera de Titanes (12/08).
– Last taping of the year is 12/16 in Chilpancingo, Guerrero. They plan on wrapping up the tag team tournament by then, so I think they’ll have the final two rounds at this show (unless there’s a taping in between I’m unaware of.)
– Abismo Negro is looking for more Vipers members. Kaoma Jr. is listed in the group here.
– Rossy Moreno will have been wrestling for 30 years as of 12/30. She debuted in 1976. There’s been some breaks – she’s just back from a three year layoff.

El Halcon #79 is up
– Interview with Mr. Mexico. Mr. Mexico aspires to be Heavyweight Champion someday. Can you imagine the match with him versus Universo? In his free time, Mr. Mexico likes to dance. The greatest misfortune in his life is when tecnicos annoy him. He was a big fan of Mil Mascaras, which caused him to start wrestling.
– Interview with El Hijo del Diablo. Diablo congrulates Bill Gates for inventing the internet. Guess that’s better than Al Gore. He also talks about his match with Mistico and such, but that’s less interesting.
– Interview with Bulldog Quintero, a long time trainer in the Queretaro area. He started in 1955, so he’s been in lucha libre for about 52 years, the last 35 in Queretaro.
– More on El Hijo del Diablo vs Mistico
– Bio of La Mistica, the LLF wrestler who recently lost her mask in Monterrey. Her real name is Juany Torres
– AULL wrestlers in Queretaro

There will be a cage of death match between the Pierroths, the Perros, and the Guerreros with someone losing a hair or mask on 12/30 Tlaxcala. No specific names are mentioned for that match, but I presume one of the lesser Pierroth’s is losing his mask. [El Sol de Tlaxcala]

Luchas 2000 #345 focuses on this past week’s big Tijuana stip match (Mano Negra losing his hair) and next week’s big Tijuana stip match (Mistico vs Hijo del Diablo.)

El Faro has two stories about lucha libre in El Salavador: general history and dictomies in lucha libre.

11/20: Monterrey, Magazines, Halcon

Been waiting all day for Arena Coliseo results, but no luck. No lineups or AAA results either.

Zorro has a leg injury and is out of action. (lomejordeluchalibre)

indy (SUN) 11/19 Arena Coliseo Monterrey Results [lomejordeluchalibre]
1) La Furia, Viento Negro ?? Payaso Loco I, Payaso Loco II
2) Burrito, Puma de Oro ?? Angel Negro, Borrico
3) Black Panther, Hijo Sr Tormenta, Potro Jr. b Angel Amor, Apostol, El Mesias
4) La Mistica L Dulce Polly and Pancho Tequila and Black Dragon [mask]
5) Konnan Big b Vudu [FILL Heavy]

Magazines
Super Luchas #188 cover is on Cibernetico’s return.
Super Luchas Grafico #19 is all about TNA
Luchas 2000 #344 pushes the Lizmark Jr. rudo turn, which was teased for about one week (and mostly just in Luchas 2000), and hasn’t existed since. Huh.

A new Halcon, 78 is up.
– Interview with Alex Koslov. It sounds like he was originally hoping to go to Japan via the New Japan Dojo, but they sent him to Mexico instead, and he’s really turned out to enjoy it – to the point where he wants to build himself a career in Mexico and isn’t looking at any US or Japan work in (at least) the short term. He’s down on the craziness of the indies (and TNA), and has really enjoyed facing guys likes Blue Panther, Virus, El Hijo del Santo and Ultimo Guerrero, so I think he’s going to work out okay. He’d like to face Mistico in a mask/hair match, and his goal is to improve himself to the point where he’s at a level to make that a more realistic possiblity. Alex plugs his myspace: http://myspace.com/alexkoslov
– Arena Queretaro results

CMLL (TUE) 11/14 Arena Queretaro Results
1) Zarna b Cometa Negro
2) El Rojo, Principe Valiente Jr. b Drabek I, Drabek II
3) Fuego Latino, Ozuno b Lince I, Lince II
4) Alex Koslov, Hombre sin Nombre b La Mascara, Texano Jr.
They would be building up a title match between Mascara and Alex, but you may have noticed Alex is not Mexican and can’t fight for it.
5) Atlantis, Ultimo Guerrero DQ Dr. Wagner Jr., Shocker

To be honest, I’m not sure of the top two results at all. I’m completely useless when google translate won’t work.
– Q&A with Okumura. In Japan and Canada (when was he in Canada?), going out to clubs was a big thing with fellow wrestlers, but no one seems to be into it in Mexico, which is disappionting. At the same time, he doesn’t like to drink tequilla (his favorite drink in noisy bars. He’s a complicated man.
– Eddie Guerrero bio
– Bio of Baron Sinestro, a Morelos based wrestler from the past.
