Skayde is your new/first? NWA (World?) Lightweight Champion. No photo with the belt yet. I think I’m spending my lunch tomorrow putting that tournament in the wiki.

In relevant news, Blue Demon Jr. presented Skayde with the belt and stayed in the ring to talk about having to choose between the title and NWA Mexico presidency. Before he could officially hand over the presidency, he was interrupted by El Dandy, who demanded and will get a mask vs hair match with Demon on 11/15, as well as possible title shot down the line. Dandy and Trauma II tried to attack Demon, but failed.

SuperLuchas has an interview with Damain, who follows Perro Jr.’s lead of being complimentary to CMLL. He’s surpasses that, putting all his ex-Perro teammates over huge (Averno & Mephisto are the best team in CMLL, he’s happy Ephesto is getting a chance, he thinks Terrible belongs on top and Texano Jr. will be as good as his father) but notes he’s always been a guy who goes from group to group so it’s time to make another move. Damian 666 says only the Original Perros are going, and then is acted about Hector Garza, but Damian’s not sure there. It’s not asked, but you surely can add Halloween to the list of Perro promotion members. (Demon?)

Damian repeatedly uses the name “Jauría del Terror” in talking about the new Averno/Mephisto led group, so he may know something CMLL hasn’t got to announcing yet. There’s near infinite ways I can misspell Jauria, so that’ll be fun.

While those guys are going, some long expected returns appear to have firmer dates. Ovaciones reports today that Shocker will be returning soon, and may herald eventual returns by Zumbido and Scorpio Jr. (more about that later.) Toscano is also believed to be brought in December or January, though Ovaciones is not as sure there.

Scorpio Jr. tells Al Filo del Ring plans on returning on November 30th.

WagnerMania also alerts me to Box Y Lucha posting articles that are dated from earlier this week, but I am sure I haven’t seen when I got there every day. I need a better way of checking, I think. Anyway…

– Marco Corelone is NOT going to AAA. Marco is very definite and believable about hwo much he’s committed to CMLL and honest about how he’s still rooting for his friends even though they’re elsewhere – and this article is still right under one which has Damian saying he’s not leaving CMLL.

– Dr. Wagner Jr. now wants no part of the Laguneros, because Blue Panther is a LOSER and Wagner has no time for LOSERS, and also no amount of beating the Villanos is going to get Blue Panther his mask back. Wagner sees UG just using Panther’s loss to get himself over.

– Atlantis notes he can’t join the Laguneros, because he hails from the Atlantic Ocean. I love Atlantis. Atlantis is sure there’s no fracture in the Guerreros

– Sangre Azteca has absolutely no idea what’s going on with the Guerreros. He hasn’t been teamed with them much lately, so he’s just been focusing on his own career instead. Which hasn’t gone so well, because apparently he went thru a stretch where he didn’t have many bookings because shows kept getting rained out. Do you get paid if the show gets rained out? I’m thinking no, or not as much, because that would explain why try so hard to work thru really bad conditions, and that sounds very awful.

Sangre says he’s made between 15 and 18 Mexican welterweight title defenses (even he doesn’t know how many!). He’s offered up opportunities for any challenger, and he still went four months without a title match. Sangre would love to fight Sombra to win the CMLL version of this title to be world champion. (Sombra actually has the NWA, Mistico has the CMLL.) Sangre vows to keep moving forward, with or without the Guerreros.

If they’re going to do another apuesta match, the Villanos want it to be 3 on 3.

El Grafico (via Vanguradia) has a good interview with Princesa Sujei about her career. She was the only woman training at her school (and only trained a few months before going to the ring), but feels she benefited from training with men.

The most interesting thing about Accion is they did start airing WWE highlights in the lucha libre block. They were separated into Lucha Libre WWE, Dr. Morales did not do the announcing, and it was highlights of Rey vs Snitsky from a couple of weeks ago on RAW. I wonder if they’ll be included on weeks where they’re not Rey Jr. highlights. AAA had the cage match for control, which was interesting for Konnan taking a fierce Latin Lover chair shot directly on the head and not getting hands up, and Konnan getting in a low blow on Latin Lover after Sergio threw the drink in. Konnan got pelted with drinks as he got to the top of the cage, that must’ve not been fun. CMLL was Friday’s main event, noteworthy only for Dos Caras’s all silver outfit and the hint of a Niebla/Corelone feud.

Negro & Romero in NJPW – 11/1: Negro Casas & Black Tiger IV (!) lose to Liger and Tiger Mask IV at a non-G1 show. TM4 got Negro for the pin.

Box Y Lucha #2895 has Cibernetico leaving AAA, Fire losing his mask, and Gemelos losing their hair.

This is a Scorpio tribute show, and there will be on more on 10/25 in Xochimilco. They’re moving the show from Thursday to Friday for this show. This will air on TVC Deportes.

This whole El Dandy meeting at the DF Box Y Lucha commission article is fascinating. For one, Fantasma shows up for work as President in overalls? Anyway, for piledriving Blue Demon and not caring, El Dandy is suspended for one month starting yesterday, which would mean he’s back on November 7th. Meanwhile, Blue Demon says the NWA has authorized a NWA Heavyweight match between him and Adam Pearce on November 25, but he’s not yet sure if he’ll be medically cleared. He’s still having issues from the piledriver, so it’ll be up to the doctors. Note that el Dandy will be cleared to wrestle by that date. Dandy continues to believe the presidency of NWA Mexico is on the line in every match Blue Demon wrestles.

Someone finally got the most important viewpoint of the Grey Shadow jump: Sangre Azteca explains Grey Shadow was just scared of losing his mask to Sangre. Sangre explains this is not the first time that’s happened to him; Rayman apparently left the company the night he was supposed to fight him for the Occidente Light Heavyweight title (Sangre assures us he had a great match with Terrible instead), and it gives him joy any time one of his rivals is so scared of him that he runs. Sangre says he’ll turn his attention back to La Mascara’s mask.

Classes at Fabian el Gitano’s gym include tai bo and belly dancing. Of course they do!

Psicosis replaced Halloween, who’s out with an injured ankle, though there’s a rumor Halloween may be done in AAA. This would also seem to confirm TJ Extreme is done here, because he otherwise would’ve been the logical replacement. Extreme Tiger climbed up the ladder (this wasn’t originally listed as a ladder match but apparently ended up being one), Tiger had a chance to grab the belts, but opted to dive off the ladder instead. Lider ended up powerbombing him and, according to this, pinned him for the win. In a ladder match. I don’t know!

In the main event, Mil Mascaras had Head Hunter I beat but the other rudos distracted the referee, and Head Hunter II returned to attack Mil and take his brother’s place. One brother subbing for another during a match, can you imagine such a thing? Anyway, it’s Mil so he still won.

Dandy gave Demon a martinete and was shocked to be DQed. Piledrivers are not DQs by NWA rules, Dandy pointed out. He may have something there. Demon was strechered out.

Super Muneco knocked himself out on a bump to the floor, which cause them to retighten the ropes and adjust the mats. Everyone says Black Thunder has a dive which will certainly get him killed. Sounds fun. Turbo got new gear.

Attendance is estimated at 600, up from the first show.

Of all the lucha coverage, Accion spent the most time on a video package marking the second anniversary of Antonio Pena’s death. CMLL main event was shown (Atlatnis looked like an older man than Panther, and Panther doesn’t have a mask) as was AAA’s Cibernetico vs Mesias vs Chessman match (no finish was evident here; Chessman seems to have new gear, which probably could be improved upon.) No WWE clips.

Box Y Lucha posted many magazine’s worth of articles at the end of last week. Let me try to link to everything for no good reason:

CMLL Owner Slightly Upset

Francisco Alonso is a somewhat angry man. Apparently, after the CMLL vs AAA match on the telethon, someone on air suggested they do a show together – the CMLL owner says no way, and the last time they did, AAA ended up hiding in it’s locker room at the end of the show, and he doesn’t want to deal with that again. He’s also very unhappy with Arturo Rivera coming to CMLL for a few weeks and Alfonso Morales going to AAA for a few weeks. He notes that was out of his control, but states that they have at least 50 new faces they want to get over (QUE?) and has no time for helping out other companies.

In a completely random and seemingly unrelated note, Alonso sounds very enthused about how the CMLL Bodybuilding event and hopes it becomes an annual event. I would be worried about such a statement, but if it’s anyone added more muscle, it’s Olimpico, and he’s got absolutely no push out of it. This fits with the general belief Alonso is divorced from the day to day decision making.

Year End Voting

– Rudo of the Year: Black Warrior (CMLL) and Chessman. Both have new legions of fans – Warrior’s surprised, but Chessman figures people just started using common sense.
– Mistico’s listed as wrestler of a year on the cover, but that article wasn’t posted. If they’re doing split ones there, I’d assume Cibernetico would be the other one.
– Four Man Team Of The Year: Los Mexican Powers. They do have the belts. Juvi says all of us who thought they were an imitation of the Mexicools were wrong. I’m going to hang my head in shame.

Inexplicable
– Mil Mascaras bio, which is explicable. The crazy section is where they discuss the idea of a Mil Mascaras Jr., Mil’s all “no one else could live up to me” as you’d expect Mil to be, and then mentions a conversation with Rey Misterio Jr. the other day, where Rey explained to Mil that there’s another international guy who’s a copy of him – Tiger Mask.

Feud Hype

– Before their match at Guerra de Titanes (that’s how old some of these are), Muerte Cibernetica and Cibernetico cut promos on each other. Muerte thanks his fans, who obviously recognize him as he truly is: the messiah. Cibernetico is nicknamed “The King Of Pumping Iron”. That’s an opening for like 500 jokes and I’m not going to make any of them for some odd reason.

– Mistico wants to fight Averno for masks because it’s a match the fans want to see, and Averno doesn’t want to wait to the anniversary show to do it. They’re very much pushing that the match is agreed to, just not the date.

AAA pretty boys angry, still pretty

Remember how Latin Lover claimed AAA wrestlers were ripping him off and wouldn’t go back unless they were ditched? Yea, well, Intocable and Elegido took that one as well as you might think.

Intocable says Latin Lover has hated him from day one and Super Calo and Winners were the true innovates of dancing. Unlike Latin Lover, Intocable notes he didn’t abandon his wrestling fans one he found a little bit of mainstream popularity. Intocable would actually NOT like to face Latin Lover in a match – they’re both tecnicos and the fans wouldn’t want to see them fight, but he’s defintely not scared of Latin Lover. Intocable notes Latin Lover isn’t coming back to AAA any time soon, so he must be totally scared.

Elegido also goes with the “Latin’s abandoned his fans” idea. Elegido states that he’s not imitating or stealing from anyone, he’s got his own unique style. Elegido notes that he came to AAA to take Latin Lover’s place, which kinda makes Latin Lover right, but I shouldn’t be arguing with a professional stripper who just wants to share his talents with the public, as he proclaims. (I imagine Elegido bellowing all these quotes for some reason.) Elegido, AAA historian, says Latin Lover didn’t know how to dance and didn’t have a good body until Antonio Pena made him into the man he is today – Elegido knew all that stuff before he started wrestling, so he couldn’t be ripping anyone off. It took Latin Lover 14 years to get the fans Elegido’s gotten in 7 months, which proves something. Elegido ends by thanking Latin Lover for leaving AAA.

Bios/Intervews
= Blue Demon Jr. talks about wrestling in Arena Mexico for the Teleton show and whatever, but the real thing I took out of this one was the 11/20 Teleton show was supposed to be CMLL vs UWA! Maybe I’m just dumb for taking two months to understand this, but I think that’s topped by CMLL doing an interpromtoional rivalry angle like 13 years after the other promotion died. If AAA dies this year, we can look forward to a big AAA vs CMLL show in 2020. Anyway, Demon does say some noteworthy stuff – he was 70% sure he’d be wrestling in Arena Mexico to start ’07 (not yet) so he can prop up attendance, he’s hoping the CMLL vs indy show becomes an annual event, and he’s thinking he’s not still a member of the Perros.
– Konnan states it was never even a consideration that he would run AAA, but he’s just there to help – like by bringing people with actual talent fron TNA. (LANCE HOYT!)
– Coloso Colosetti, who debuted in 1963 and claims still to be wrestling occasionally, had testicular surgery on 12/20. He says he’ll recover in three months, and then go on a farewell tour.
– Alex Koslov! talks about wrestling in Mexico. He’s learned more in the time in Mexico than the 4 years prior; he chalks that up partially to wrestling guys with a lot more experience, rather than the young men of similar age you’ll find on the US indy scene. Alex loves Mexican women and is looking into making one his fiancee. Also, Alex’s lost his hair while in Mexico – but not in a match, he just had a barber who had no idea what he was doing.
– Octagoncito talks about the death of his father last November and his goals for 2007.
